Elvis 1960 Lincoln Mark V limousine Auctioned

Elvis  1960 Lincoln Mark V limousine will be auctioned at the 35th Anniversary Barrett-Jackson "World's Greatest Collector Car Event" at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Jan. 14 - 22, 2006. This is the first time the car has ever been advertised for sale, having only changed hands privately prior to this opportunity.

This automobile was special ordered by Elvis in the summer of 1959 while in the Army and stationed in Germany. The Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company sent one of the very first 1960 Lincolns, serial #32, to Hess and Eisenhardt to be customized for Elvis.

The car has only 33,000 actual miles and is equipped with every available option including rear power privacy glass, and two separate units for front and rear air-conditioning. Included with this sale is the complete documentation history including the power of attorney signed by Elvis authorizing the purchase of the car while he was in service, the bill of sale from Schilling motors to Elvis, the application of title in Elvis' name, the transfer of ownership after 5 years to Alan Fortas & the Memphis title to the car which has been in the same owner's name for nearly 40 years.

All this in addition to a photo taken at Graceland of Elvis with the car the day he returned home from service, as well as several other photos of the car while owned by the "King of Rock and Roll". This was known as one of Elvis' favorite automobiles and he was often seen driving the car around Memphis.

Three Elvis Albums In Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 500 of All Time.

Three Elvis albums are in ROLLING STONE's just-published 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time list:

The Sun Sessions (11), Elvis Presley (55) and From Elvis in Memphis (190). The Beatles managed four albums in the top ten and 'Sgt Pepper' was the all-time number 1.

Here are their comments on Elvis' three LPs.

The Sun Sessions: Many believe Rock & Roll was born on July 5th, 1954, at Sun Studios in Memphis. Elvis Presley, guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black were horsing around with "That's All Right," a tune by bluesman Arthur Crudup, when producer Sam Phillips stopped them and asked, "What are you doing?" "We don't know," they said.

Phillips told them to "back up and do it again." The A side of Presley's first single (backed with a version of Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky"), "That's All Right" was issued by Sun, on July 19th. It may or may not be the first rock & roll record. But the man who would be King was officially on wax. Bridging black and white, country and blues, his sound was playful and revolutionary.

As Presley biographer Peter Guralnick observed, "This is the most improbable story of all: In a tiny Memphis studio, in 1954 and 1955, Sam Phillips and Elvis Presley created rock & roll.

" Presley released four more singles on Sun -- including definitive reinventions of Wynonie Harris' "Good Rockin' Tonight" and Junior Parker's "Mystery Train" -- before moving on to immortality at RCA. It took more than twenty years for Presley's Sun output to be properly collected on this '76 LP -- which has since been superseded by Sunrise, a double-CD chronicle of the King's beginnings at Sun, released in 1999.

Elvis Presley: In November 1955, RCA Records bought Presley's contract, singles and unreleased master tapes from Sun Records for $35,000.

His first full-length album came out six months later, with tracks drawn from both the Sun sessions and from further recording at RCA's studios in New York and Nashville.

"There wasn't any pressure," guitarist Scotty Moore said of the first RCA sessions. "They were just bigger studios with different equipment. We basically just went in and did the same thing we always did." On tracks such as "Blue Suede Shoes," that meant revved-up country music with the most irresistibly sexy voice anyone had ever heard.

From Elvis In Memphis: "I had to leave town for a little while", Presley sings in the first track. Along with his 1968 TV special, this record announced he was back. Cut at Chips Momans American Studios, it is little short of astounding.

With help from a crack crew of Memphis musicians, Presley masterfully tackles quality material from country (I'm Movin On), gospel (Long Black Limousine), soul (Only the Strong Survive) and pop (Any Day Now) as well as message songs (In the Ghetto).

The same sessions also yielded one of Presleys greatest singles, the towering pop-soul masterpiece Suspicious Minds. For the complete list click here to go to The Rolling Stone website:

"BURNING LOVE" FOR THE KING KEEPS ELVIS PRESLEY'S SPIRIT ALIVE!!! (The Story Continues...)

PAUL EVANS KENNY ASCHER

Elvis' Music Entourage Carries On Presley's Unfinished Work! Elvis' "Hit Making Team" Back In The Recording Studio Again.

Los Angeles / New York (PRWEB) October 6, 2004 -- The media, music fans, and the rest of the entertainment industry are still trying to figure out what to make of these guys.. Some have called it reincarnation; others believe its kismet, divinely eerie, at the top of the list with unexplained things like UFO's!!! What ever you want to call it, most agree it's pretty cool.

As the music industry is grasping for change, something really different, maybe it's Elvis himself orchestrating this new beginning from Rock 'n Roll Heaven. Weekly World News recently ran a cover story entitled "Elvis Is Alive", with numerous photos of Elvis sightings; people just don't want to let go! It just could be Elvis' way of saying, enough already of the fakers and pretenders, now it's time for the "Real Thing" again!!! Singer / Songwriter John Krondes is back in the recording studio crankin' out the hits with the Jordanaires and other MVP members of the original Elvis Presley "Hit Making Team." Undisputedly, this is the craziest and one of the most implausible and bewildering stories in the music business today. Over the past year, virtually every member of the Elvis "Hit Making Machine" (including the "TCB" Band &The Sweet Inspirations) has somehow fatefully found their way into this exploding music making project by singer John Krondes and the Jordanaires. The Jordanaires are the famed vocal group that backed-up Elvis on just about every song he recorded up to 1970.

Just this past week, and for the second time this past year, John Krondes and the Jordanaires recorded a number of new songs for their upcoming CD at Emerald Recording Studio in Nashville and The Hit Factory and Sound on Sound Recording in New York. The Presley "Hit Makers", in addition to the Jordanaires, included in this newest session are Ronnie Tutt (Elvis' Drummer), Reggie Young (Elvis Guitarist) and Mike Leech (Elvis Bass Player). While Ronnie Tutt recorded and toured with Elvis, Reggie Young and Mike Leech were part of the recording team at "American Studios" in Memphis that was responsible for many monster hits for Presley. Both Young and Leech nicknamed "The Memphis Boys", played on Elvis hits such as "Suspicious Minds", "In The Ghetto" and "Kentucky Rain." Further, Mike Leech wrote the arrangements on "Suspicious Minds" and "In The Ghetto." Other noted performers joining the latest Krondes recording session include Ira Siegel (Guitar), Kenny Ascher (Organ), Rodger Morris (Piano), Doug Jernigen (Steele Guitar) and Charlie Vaughn (Acoustic Guitar).

GORDON STOKER, JOHN KRONDES, RAY WALKER

Many Elvis fans and music industry professionals alike are of the belief that this story of John Krondes and the Jordanaires and the reuniting of the Elvis "Hit Making Team" is one designed by fate. True to its philosophical theory, history is most definitely repeating itself in this scenario. A myriad of radio stations have noted the graceful chemistry between John and the Jordanaires and commented on the awesome harmony. Combined with the rest of the original Presley musical unit, there is a style and sound no short of majestic, much analogous to the symphonic relationship Elvis shared with these very same musicians. Krondes states, "This is all too weird to even try to explain." "From the moment I met the Jordanaires, people connected to Elvis kept entering my life." Singer John Krondes accidentally spotted the Jordanaires name on a billboard in Las Vegas, and then the rest is now history. Seemingly still controlled by destiny, John Krondes ran into Elvis' first drummer D.J. Fontana while changing planes at Washington Dulles Airport, on the way to the recording session in Nashville. D.J. Fontana was Elvis' original drummer who recorded and performed with Presley from 1955-1968. John and D.J. talked at length about the project and are planning to record a few numbers along with Elvis' first guitarist Scotty Moore.

Elvis music writer Paul Evans along with John Krondes wrote new material for the sessions. Evans wrote such Presley hits as "I Gotta Know", "Something Blue" and "The Next Step Is Love." Strangely, one of the latest session recordings was a song pitched to Elvis in the 1970's written by John's late father Jimmy Krondes and Paul Evans, entitled "Listen For The Wind." Maintaining the programming formula "Something Old, Something New, Something Blue", John Krondes and the Jordanaires have just recorded a fabulous new version of the Country standard "There Goes My Everything."

A new Krondes and Evans collaboration, party theme "Vegas in the Morning" is scheduled for release in January 2005 to coincide with the start of the Las Vegas "Centennial Celebration." The City of Las Vegas will be celebrating its 100-year birthday all through 2005, with lots of scheduled events and parties. For more information go to the official web site for the Las Vegas "Centennial Celebration":

A new E-mail address has been set up for fan mail for John Krondes and the Jordanaires and the Elvis "Hit Making Team" at HitMakers "@" elvis.com (email protected from spam bots). Fans can effortlessly get a copy of "The End", the first single by John Krondes and the Jordanaires at Amazon.com. "The End", which essentially launched this project, continues to recieve great applause from Radio.

ELVIS MEETS NIXON ON DVD.

Here is the cover for the for 'Elvis Meets Nixon' which see's it's UK premier release on Monday 26th December. The 1997 movie stars Rick Peters as Elvis and Bob Gunton as Nixon.

It is a tongue in cheek look at the famous meeting between the King and the U.S. president in December 1970.

Here is a review from the New York Times:
Two of America's great cultural icons meet in this highly amusing comedy (which, as the film reminds us, is based on actual incidents; check out Peter Guralnick's superb Presley biography Careless Love for a more direct recounting of the facts).

One evening Elvis Presley (played by Rick Peters) is alone at his mansion, feeling out of sorts, and he gets an idea -- he wants to be named an FBI Agent At Large to do his part in the war on drugs.

And how better to achieve this lofty goal than to go to Washington, D.C. and speak with President Richard Nixon (Bob Gunton)? For the first time in years, Elvis leaves the house by his himself, hops on a plane, and jets to our nation's capital, determined to get in touch with Mister "I Am Not A Crook" himself.

Director Allan Arkush plays this story for all the absurdity its worth, but still hews pretty close to the truth (with several real-life "witnesses" offering their view of the events, including Tony Curtis, Wayne Newton and Dick Cavett) and presenting a convincing argument that Presley and Nixon had a lot more in common than you'd imagine; both title characters come off as cartoonish, but affectionately so, and this ranks with the most likable and sympathetic portraits of Elvis Presley
ever committed to film.

New Elvis CD.

An Elvis CD called "The Early Recordings" can be bought in our country.

"Going For A Song" (UK) is the label and it contains some songs of the "Sun Era". There are 13 songs in the album and it is rather cheap. Fans who like the early recordings of the King can be satisfied with the CD.

Besides, the ones who got used to listen to "Tomorrow Night" only from "For Everyone", i.e. with vocal and instrument overdubbing, can find the original version interesting.

The artwork of the album is not so nice. The same picture is inside and on the disc, and there are no liner notes at all.

1.That's All Right
2.Blue Moon Of Kentucky
3.I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine
4.Good Rockin' Tonight
5.Milkcow Blues Boogie
6.You're A Heartbreaker
7.I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone
8.I love You because
9.Blue Moon
10.I'll Never Let You Go
11.Just Because

Simon Fuller/19 Entertainment Will Not Rebrand Elvis.

EPE will add this message to the official Elvis Presley website soon: "The story about Simon Fuller/19 Entertainment and their having been put in charge of a re-branding of Elvis is false. The story seems to be the result of pure gossip or the source's having misinterpreted some bits of information he or she might have heard through the grapevine.

Our parent company CKX and all its subsidiary companies enjoy a mutually supportive relationship and our companies all look forward to each opportunity that might arise for collaborating on one another's projects.

The management and development of Elvis-related projects and branding is the responsiblity of Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE). That has not changed.

In this capacity, and his current role as a hands-on executive producer, he has spent time as an undercover inmate in The Ohio State Penitentiary, has flown in supersonic fighter aircraft, sailed international "Tall Ships," lived on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in a NASA underwater habitat and recently became one of the few people to ever film and explore the remote Arctic Circle island of Surtsey off the coast of Iceland.

This is quite a legacy you leave behind Albert and you are still  Movin' On with new projects like the new DVD Behind the scenes of Elvis Presley At The 1962 Seattle's World Fair. Our greatest entertainer in the music Field  "Elvis Presley" .

How did you become a Director / Producer?

I have been in television since I was 16 years old. Working at The Seattle World's Fair was the career-making moment for me and provided me with an opportunity to meet many important people from national television. That truly launched my career as a TV Producer and then as a Director.

Made any other productions ?

I have been responsible for hundreds of hours of national and international television. A lot of shows for the various Discovery Networks and major US Networks such as NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox. (See specifics in my bio above).

Who is your favorite director(s) for film  / documentaries?

My personal tastes are pretty much mainstream and run the full range from the classic directors such as Hitchcock, Ford, Fritz Lang, Spielberg, Ang Lee, etc. Documentaries: I love Michael Moore's work and current docs such as "March of the Penguins".

Who is your favorite actor(s)

Current actors such as Sean Penn, George Clooney, Judy Dench, etc.

Why?

I like to see actors who make you feel they are "real" people and who are not afraid to show vulnerability and emotion on the screen.

Did you become an Elvis Fan after you started working with Elvis If so, when and why?

When I started to work on the film in Seattle, I was not a big fan of Elvis. However, as I got to know him as a person, my feelings changed. He had such a sincere warmth that it was impossible not to like him. His laughter was contagious and he was genuinely kind to everyone around him.

As the years have gone on, I have come to recognize his musical talents as well as his amazing contributions to the entertainment industry on so many different levels.

I used to produce a talent competition series on television called "Ted Mack and The original Amateur Hour." I learned that Ted Mack and the show had turned down Elvis Presley when he auditioned for the show while he was still living in Tupelo, Mississippi.

I wish I had his hand written application from that time, it would be priceless. But we never saved the applications for those acts that were rejected.

Elvis used to rib Ted Mack about his error in turning Elvis down for the show.
There is a segment about this on my DVD devoted to the series. It can be accessed through my web site:
www.originalamateurhour.com.

Did you started collecting Elvis material besides filming Elvis on Super8 and still-camera?

Andylon, I only have collected those things that were directly related to my personal experiences with Elvis. I have the original phonograph record which Elvis gave to me, as well as some other things he gave me such as the large movie poster,a signed photograph, press kit and things like that.

Is this the only material of Elvis you have in your vaults or are there more surprises for us Elvis Fans in the future?

I have correspondence from some of the crew ... the cinematographer, Joseph Ruttenberg and the Art Director, Preston Ames became friends and I saw them socially for years after the movie until their deaths. The 2nd unit director, Otto Lang is a good friend. He just turned 90 and lives in Seattle, Washington. We talk on the phone a lot and see each other whenever we can.

Albert, did you keep in touch with Elvis personally or met him somewhere after the film making of It Happened at the World's Fair?

Once the movie was finished, I never had any further contact with Elvis ... sad to say.

What was your reaction emotionally the day Elvis died on August 16 1977?

I was working for NBC when Elvis died. When I heard the first news bulletin, I was stunned. All of my memories with Elvis flashed through my head. I even told the news department at NBC that I had these home movies of Elvis, but they seemed to care less. So they have remained in my vault till now.

Did you ever become active in the Elvis World?

No.

What is your favorite Elvis single - Album - Film, ?

Well, obviously, I am especially fond of "It Happened At The World's Fair" and the music track. But I guess the early films are still my favorites. Also, since I was born and raised in New Orleans, I have always had a soft spot for "King Creole".

Do you like Elvis in the 50's, 60's or 70's?

When I was growing up in New Orleans, I lived a few blocks from the big amusement park Pontchatrain Beach. I remember once that Elvis performed there as a relatively unknown from Tupelo, Mississippi. But even then, the word was getting around that this kid was "special". So my most find period of Elvis would have to be from the 1950's and early 1960's.

Up until now, what is you favorite project you did?

There are so many. I did a great documentary on the famous Hearst Castle at San Simeon, California and the host was William Randolph Hearst's grand daughter, Patty Hearst. That was a terrific experience. Also, recently I did a documentary for Discovery on the Rover missions to the planet Mars.

I went with the chief Mars scientist from NASA, Dr. Jim Garvin, to a remote island off the coast of Iceland near the arctic circle called Surtsey. It is the youngest piece of land on our planet and is much like Mars. Only a handful of people have ever been allowed on this volcanic island. That was a blast!

Albert, do you have any other Productions in the future?

Elvis & Joan O'Brien.

Elvis & Vicky Tiu,

I may try and turn this DVD of Elvis into a television "special" with current interviews with some of the participants such as Joan O'Brien, Vicky Tiu, Gary Lockwood and even Kurt Russell. I am exploring this right now.

Albert, this would be great, keep me updated when this television "special" comes to reality. What is your ultimate wish on a project in the future?

I have a major "legacy" project that I am launching next year that will allow all peoples of the world to create one minute commercials for world peace.I am passionate about this venture. Details are just starting to come out and can be viewed on another web site of mine:
www.worldpeaceartsfestival.com.

Is there any wish that you want to accomplish in your life?

The World peace project. I'd like to be able to help bring people from all walks of life together in a common goal to make world leaders more aware of the universal need and quest for world peace. It is an ambitious goal, but if we do not speak out as individuals and unite as a world community, then what is the purpose of having our brief time together on this planet?

Albert, this was such a comprehensive interview, I mean all the information on what you did and still do. Like my brains are falling out..... maybe the next time I am able to go "Into" this.

Thank you again for being so kind doing this and I am certainly like to be updated on any progress on this DVD of Elvis  "exploring it as a television special" .

One more last question before we end this interview.

Do you have any message for the Ep.Gold readers?

Andylon, I would like you to keep up the good work of honoring the legacy of Elvis Presley. And wish all the Ep.Gold readers A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2006!!! And let me know if you need anything more. Always glad to be of help.

Thanks Albert, and the same wishes to you in 2006!!!

Note:
The 28 minute DVD includes color home movies of Elvis at the Fair as well as a video montage of both color and black and white still photographs from the production. In addition, Fisher has added a short salute to some of the celebrity Fair visitors who he captured on his home movie camera. These include Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, news commentator Edward R. Murrow, French actor/singer Maurice Chevalier, Britain's Prince Phillip, astronaut John Glenn just returned from his historic first trip into space and clips of the first Telstar satellite transmission ever done from the United States to Europe, parts of which emanated from The Seattle World's Fair.

Seen on the DVD with Elvis Presley are actress and co-star Joan O'Brien (with whom Presley was rumored to be having a torrid relationship), child actress Ginny Tiu and, in his first movie appearance ever, a non-credited 10 year old Kurt Russell. The DVD also shows many sequences with Elvis and his notorious manager Colonel Tom Parker as well as Presley's entourage known as "The Memphis Mafia." Crew members featured include Academy Award winners Norman Taurog (director), Joseph Ruttenberg (cinematographer), Preston Ames (art director), and Otto Lang (2nd unit director). There is even a sequence in which Elvis Presley is presenting a smoked and cured ham from his Tennessee farm to the then Governor of Washington State, Albert Rosselini.

On the DVD Producer/Director Albert Fisher reminisces on-camera about the making of the movie and also how, when the film was finally released, Presley's manager Col. Tom Parker "stole" Fisher's credit as Technical Advisor.

"Elvis Presley at The Seattle World's Fair" is the first of a series of DVD's to be release by Fisher Television Productions highlighting events, stars and celebrities at both the Seattle World's Fair in 1962 and The New York World's Fair in 1964. Future videos will also be available soon on the web site:

Message From Priscilla And Lisa.

Message from Priscilla and Lisa With The 2005 Christmas CD Sent To Fan Club Leaders. Each year over the past several years, EPE has mailed a special one-song collectable Elvis Christmas CD to Elvis fan club leaders around the world.

The CDs have included a personal message to the club leaders and their members from Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley. We will try to post an image of the 2005 CD cover art in this article soon.

For now, here is the message that is included with the CD:

Dear Friends,

We cannot thank you enough for your warm and enthusiastic embrace of the Elvis By The Presleys TV/DVD/book project, which was introduced earlier this year. It meant so much to us, to our family and to everyone involved in making this very personal statement. The success and positive reception of this labor of love by you, as well as by new Elvis audiences, is a source of great pride for us personally, along with the Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) staff and the producers.

Over the past year, an exciting change at EPE that had been quietly in the making for some time took you by surprise. EPE partnered with Bob Sillerman and his new company CKX. This is a wonderful development for the growth of EPE and its ability to nurture the Elvis Presley legacy and to reach even larger audiences for Elvis in every part of the world, now and in generations to come. It is also a great development in EPE's ability to further its outreach to his most ardent fans. We look forward to an even brighter future in the world of Elvis, and to sharing all the excitement of it with you every step of the way.

Thanks so much to you and your Elvis fan club members for all your tireless efforts to support and honor Elvis Presley's legacy in 2005, particularly when you have reached out in service to your community in his memory. With our abiding love, respect and appreciation to all of you, we wish you a joyous holiday season and a great 2006.

Sincerely,

Priscilla Presley

E Online first to report Carey now tied with Elvis for most number ones by a solo artist.

"Outside the Idol world, Mariah Carey had plenty to celebrate. The Emancipation of Mimi climbed a spot to seven on 191,000 copies, up 50,000 discs from last week. Her 36-week tally now tops 4.5 million copies. Her smash hit "We Belong Together" topped Billboard's year-end Hot 100 list, having spent 14 weeks at number one, the longest such run for any artist in eight years.

Last but not least, her new Mimi-generated hit, "Don't Forget About Us," ruled this week's Hot 100, giving her the 17th number one single of her career. She has now tied Elvis Presley for the most number ones by a solo artist and ranks behind only the Beatles, who notched 20 chart-toppers, on the all-time list"

New Sonny West Book.

After three years of writing and research, Sonny West and Marshall Terrill have completed their tentatively titled book, "Elvis: Still Taking Care of Business."

The collaboration, which started in 2002, is the long awaited follow-up to the 1977 book, "Elvis: What Happened?" in which Sonny West co-authored with Red West and Dave Hebler. Terrill said the book is approximately 480 pages in length and includes two appendices - "All The King's Men" and "Myths, Facts and Frequently Asked Questions." The former is a section on former Memphis Mafia members while the latter is a list of questions West answers directly from Presley followers.

"The book was fun to write, but it was also a very exhaustive effort because of the painstaking research that Sonny and I did to ensure the facts were correct," said Terrill, who is the author of nine books, including a March 2006 biography on basketball legend "Pistol" Pete Maravich.

"When this book is published, no one will ever doubt or question Sonny West's love for Elvis Presley. I'm also very proud of the fact that Sonny doesn't sugarcoat the truth nor is he disrespectful to Elvis Presley's memory. What you'll read is a very balanced, sensitive and moving memoir about the greatest entertainer who ever lived," Terrill said.

Terrill said the manuscript is fully edited and is in the hands of veteran literary agent, Tony Seidl, who specializes in celebrity biographies and autobiographies. Seidl has sold more than 200 books to date.

West said the experience of writing, "Elvis: Still Taking Care of Business" has been cathartic for him. "Over the years there was a lot of joy and a lot of sadness in writing this book but the facts are that I loved Elvis, miss him and I wish he was still here," said Sonny West.

The book will cover West's 16 years with Elvis Presley from 1960 to 1976, the aftermath of "Elvis: What Happened?" to his thoughts today on Elvis, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley.

The book will also feature several stories and anecdotes that have never been told before and will include many never seen before photos from West's personal collection as well as photos donated from the Russ Howe collection

Paul McCartney Goes Elvis.

It's no secret that former Beatle Paul McCartney is a huge Elvis fan. During a concert for the BBC in the Abbey Road Studio's, Paul brought a special surprise with him.

He imagined that Elvis was there, standing next to him. When Paul did "Heartbreak Hotel", he introduced the "Elvis Presley Bass": the original stand up bass of Bill Black, which is now his. Macca closed the Elvis part of the show with his version of "Blue Suede Shoes".

Marshall Production company signs contract for Sergeant Presley screen rights

Missouri-based production company Campbell-Stone Entertainment  signed an option on December 15 for the screen rights to Sergeant Presley, a book penned by Rex  and Elisabeth Mansfield with Marshall and Zoe Terrill. ECW Press published the book in 2002. "Campbell-Stone Entertainment is excited to bring the screen this intriguing and original story about Elvis Presley," Stone said, a veteran producer and former actor. "I like the fact that the story really touches upon Elvis' patriotism and his love for this great country. I also like that it's one of the least known periods of his life." Mansfield was sworn into service with Presley, a 23-year-old draftee, on March 24, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee. The two developed a special friendship that blossomed during their travels over! seas.

Once in West Germany, Mansfield introduced Elisabeth Stefaniak to Presley. Her relationship with Presley grew from personal secretary to housemate. The pair witnessed Sgt. Presley's complex personality unfold over an 18-month period.  According to the Mansfields, the ultimate rock-star-turned G.I. was a mix of generous, humorous, sad and jealous. The story's focal point centers on the tug-of-war between Elvis and Rex over Elisabeth, a rivalry that would end with Rex stealing Elisabeth's heart, but losing his friendship to Presley. Their story follows Presley every step of the way from induction to discharge and is considered by many as the truest account of his time in the Army. "Elisabeth and I had a very unique, once in a lifetime, experience in our relationship with Elvis for those two years in the U.S. Army," Rex said. "I have always felt that some day, someone would want ! to make our book into a  film or TV movie. I am very  happy that now someone has the faith to do our story."

Author Marshall Terrill, who recently finished a bio of Presley with former bodyguard Sonny West, said Sergeant Presley most likely has a better chance on the small screen. "It would be great if it was made into a feature film, but in my heart I've always felt it was perfect for television or cable and, of course, would have a great shelf life in the DVD market," Terrill said. "The producers have very strong contacts in Hollywood and more importantly, they have a proven track record of success." An option gives a producer the rights to shop the project to studios to drum up interest for a film or screen version of the book. The term of the option is for a six-month period with another six-month option available to Campbell-Stone Entertainment. Rodney Stone is a veteran of the film industry as an executive with Warner Brothers Studio ! and as an actor in film and television. He produced Pistol: Birth of a Legend, a 1991 movie about the life of basketball legend "Pistol" Pete Maravich.

He is currently producing on a drama about the trial of Richard Scrushy, the former HealthSouth CEO who was recently acquitted of fraud in Alabama. Stone's partner, Darrel Campbell, is a writer, producer and actor. Campbell had successful writing tenures on "Days of Our Lives" and "Home Improvement." He also scripted the feature films, Pistol: Birth of a Legend and Redemption of the Ghost.

The News: Fans of Elvis will have been celebrating the fact that 'The King' hit the charts once again in 2005. His single 'One Night' became the 1,000th UK number one in January 2005, and his 20th chart topping single. Elvis Presley died on August 16th 1977 in circumstances that shocked fans - his problems with drugs, weight and depression have since been well documented. For his family and his fans, however, he left a legacy that continues to be a major force in the music industry. Few artists do not pay some sort of homage to the man who courted controversy throughout his career, upsetting the establishment with his on stage gyrations but then becoming their darling following his entry into the US military.

Image: Lisa-Marie Presley (left) still owns Graceland and all her father's personal possessions but the deal with SFX has left her $100 million richer! Title: Lisa Marie Presley and Vanessa Carlton At VH1 Big In 2002 Awards. Copyright: Getty Images His legacy includes his estate - the famous Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee - and of course his back catalogue of music. The industry that surrounds Elvis goes on despite his death. The 1000th number one is just one single in a series that has been released in recent months by the BMG-UK group which has included such classics as 'All Shook Up', 'Jailhouse Rock' and 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'. BMG are releasing one special edition single each week between January 3rd and April 25th 2005, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of his birth. The singles are presented as a limited edition issue with special features designed to imitate the original 7 vinyl issues.

Estimates put the global volume of Elvis' record sales at over 1 billion - more than any other recording artist. The rights to Elvis' music are owned by RCA which in turn was bought by the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) in the 1980s. The ownership of the rights to the music, and where the royalties go is quite complex and highlights the issues over property rights in the music industry and in part links in with the controversy that has been raging over illegal music downloads. BMG recently completed merger with Sony music to become Sony BMG.

In December 2004, an announcement was made that Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. (EPE) had sold an 85% share to the SFX group owned by Robert F.X. Sillerman. The SFX group represents sports and music stars around the globe, most famously being involved with David Beckham in the UK but managing and representing other stars such as Gary Lineker, Alan Hansen, Greg Norman, Andy Roddick, Michael Jordan and Alan Shearer. SFX paid $100 million for EPE although the sale does not include Graceland itself or any of Elvis' personal belongings which are still in the hands of Lisa-Marie Presley, Elvis' daughter. Looking at the property rights in the case of Elvis might help to unravel some of these issues. Elvis was under contract to the record label RCA.

RCA owned the rights to Elvis' recorded songs and Elvis himself received a royalty for each record sold. This continued up to 1973 when Elvis made a deal with RCA who paid him a lump sum of $5.4 million. In return Elvis sacrificed the royalties earned on sales of recordings made before March 1973, hence RCA would, in future, take all the earnings from his work prior to that date.

Any records made after March 1973 continued to attract royalties for Elvis. It was not the ownership of the records that Elvis negotiated because Elvis never owned any of these records. If, therefore, RCA decided to put out a record which it owned (say an old version of a song Elvis recorded before he became famous) which Elvis did not like, it would be RCA's decision not Elvis. Of course, most record labels try to work with the artist but if they felt there was commercial value in doing such a thing they did not have to seek permission of Elvis because they owned the rights to the song. The ownership of the songs themselves comes under a different regime.

If another artist wanted to record a version of, for example, Jailhouse Rock, they would not have to ask permission of RCA but the company who owned the rights to the song itself the music and the lyrics - not the recording made by Elvis. That ownership will be in the hands of a publishing company. In some cases, the artist will have some involvement in the ownership but not necessarily. EPE currently owns many of the publishing rights to Elvis' songs, so if an artist wishes to make a recording of Jailhouse Rock, they will need to get the permission of EPE (and, most likely, pay a fee!). It's a complicated situation, so here's a quick summary of who owns what: What? Who owns it? The rights to recordings of all Elvis' songs RCA The royalties on recordings of Elvis' songs made after 1973 Elvis Presley (now EPE) The rights to Elvis' songs' music and lyrics EPE

Now View a clip from the DVD 1962 Seattle's World Fair Featuring Elvis Presley.

Never before seen footage of The King while filming the movie"It Happened At The World's Fair"

Elvis Presley At The 1962 Seattle's World Fair.

Long Lost Home Movies of Elvis Presley Find New Life in Special Edition DVD. Rare home movies of Elvis Presley at The Seattle World's Fair, which have never been seen before, have been released on a special edition DVD. Includes color photos and other celebrities who appeared at the 1962 fair in Seattle.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2005 -- The images are almost surreal. Here is "The King" ... Elvis Presley ... being peddled on a 3-wheeled bicycle by a beautiful blonde at the base of Seattle's Space Needle. And Elvis with a 10-year-old kid actor named Kurt Russell whose sole mission is to kick Elvis in the knee. Then there is Presley presenting a ham to the Governor of Washington State. These are just a few of the home movie scenes that have recently been uncovered and released by the man who was Technical Advisor on the 1962 Elvis Presley MGM motion picture: "It Happened At The World's Fair." Emmy winning television producer/director Albert Fisher was just 21-years-old when he worked in the TV and movie department at The Seattle Worldfs Fair. One of his jobs was to help coordinate the location shooting of the movie starring Elvis Presley, Joan OfBrien, Ginny Tiu and Gary Lockwood.

When the fair ended its run, Fisher was asked by Presley's team to serve as the film's Technical Advisor on location and in Hollywood. Throughout the weeks of shooting in Seattle, Albert Fisher not only had direct access to the stars and crew, but he carried with him an 8 mm home movie camera and a still camera. The footage and photographs he captured during the summer of 1962 have been hidden away in a safety deposit box until now. They have never before been seen publicly.  These rare one-of-a-kind glimpses of the behind-the-scenes making of a Elvis Presley motion picture have been professionally edited and compiled along with still photographs and recollections by Fisher into a commemorative DVD that salutes the power and presence of Elvis Presley and the establishment of Seattle, Washington as a major world destination thanks to their World's Fair in 1962.

"My time at The Seattle World's Fair and particularly with Elvis Presley has always remained dear to my heart," says Fisher, who went on to become associated with major broadcast and cable networks and television syndicators as a national Emmy winning Producer and Director. Fisher goes on to note: "I have held onto these personal memories of my brief time spent with Elvis and thought that the time was right to share them with the many fans who continue to celebrate the legacy of Presleyfs amazing talent and contributions to the entertainment industry."

The DVD is being offered through a special web site:
www.fairvideo.com. It is available as a limited edition signed and numbered DVD which comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and four never-before-seen color photographs of Presley at The Seattle World's Fair. The Commemorative Special Edition DVD is available for $44.80 which includes shopping to anywhere in the world. A standard release DVD is also available through the web site for $29.95, shipping included.

"Elvis Presley at The Seattle Worldfs Fair" is the first of a series of DVD's to be release by Fisher Television Productions highlighting events, stars and celebrities at both the Seattle World's Fair in 1962 and The New York World's Fair in 1964. Future videos will also be available soon on the web site:
www.fairvideo.com.

Note: The DVD is released as a limited edition and as a normal release. Packaged as a CD - box on DVD-R but nevertheless great to have in your collection.
