Early Elvis Concert Lives, But Where?

From left: WERE radio personalities Bill Randle and Tommy Edwards, Elvis
Presley and bass player Bill Black at the Brooklyn High performance.

Fifty years ago this month, a high school in suburban Cleveland played host
to an early concert appearance by Elvis Presley. Cleveland disc jockey Bill
Randle regularly used his influence to stage afternoon music assemblies at
local high schools, and Elvis' Oct. 20, 1955 performance at Brooklyn High
School was captured as part of a documentary about Randle.

But, soon after that, the film disappeared and ever since, the missing
footage has become the holy grail of Elvis fans. New Jersey musician Chris
Kennedy grew up in a family of Elvis fans, and has made it his mission to
find the footage. From member station WCPN, David C. Barnett reports.

Randy Owen and Charlie Daniels Are Graceland's Latest Celebrity Visitors.

Country stars Randy Owen, front man for the group Alabama, and Charlie
Daniels of The Charlie Daniels Band, visited Graceland on October 25th.

Both were in town for an event with Professional Advisory Board of St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital (one of Elvis's favorite charities, by the
way).

It was a return trip for Owen, who visited in the 1980's when Alabama
appeared in a ceremony at Graceland and presented Elvis's Academy of Country
Music "Golden Hat" Award to the Presley Estate.
Daniels has a special Elvis connection - he co-wrote the song It Hurts Me,
which Elvis recorded in the 1960's.

Acetate of Elvis singing "Rock Around The Clock" found?

Unexpected Ernst Jorgensen called me today to discuss some different issues.

Of course one of  my burning question was:

Is it true  the information was given by Ger Rijff, that was all over the
Internet on the acetate of Elvis singing "Rock Around The Clock" ?

First of all Andylon, we never received an acetate we got a tape from a
person who is a big Elvis fan.

Also mentioned by Ger Rijff was "current owner of the acetate is asking for
a lot of money"

No Andylon, this time there is no money asked by the owner, a tape was send
and wanted to share this recording with the Elvis Fans, not asking any
money.

Ernst, you know for several years now I heard this song 6 years ago in a
great sound but as a Medley:
Rock Around The Clock / Good Rocking Tonight from the same Louisiana Hayride
show where  Elvis also  sang "Only You" .

Well, Andylon this is not the same source, the tape we have,  sound a lot
less on quality to what you have heard.
Let's hope in the future the person will comed forward to share it with us.

By the way Ernst, when will the next FTD's will be released?

First of all 2 FTD's will be coming out the 1st week of January, 2006 (this
time not before Christmas)

One is a live-show on the regular FTD and on the Special Edition either
"Loving You" or "Something For Everybody" .

Well, thanks for sharing the details on Rock around the clock, it seems you
feel a lot better  at least mentally I mean... you talk quite clearly on
every issue, Ernst.

No, Andylon I haven't talked to many people lately,  I still have to take it easy.

Anyway we talk soon again, Andylon.

Thanks Ernst.

Definitive Cover Art Colonel Parker DVD.

Here is the final cover art for the DVD on Elvis' manager Colonel Tom
Parker, now set for release in November. This DVD contains a T.V.
documentary "Looking For Colonel Parker" made by the Dutch freelance
journalist Constant Meijers.

Synopsis:

The camera captures the search for Dries Van Kuijck's footsteps from
Constant Meijers, bringing him from Breda (The Netherlands) to Alabama and
Memphis. The 'clown' Parker slowly turns into a shrewd manager, who has the
world at his feet. Meijers talks to eye witnesses, and focuses on the last
remaining traces of the once carnival-artist Tom Parker.

The documentary is "interesting", although most of the 'newly discovered'
facts from 1987 have been told in detail in newer books such by writers such
as Dirk Vellenga and Alannah Nash.

Elvis Presley
Earnings: $45 million
Occupation: Musician
Date of Death: Aug. 16, 1977
Age: 42
Cause: Heart attack

How can you possibly put a value on the Elvis Presley legacy? Ask Robert
Sillerman, whose CKX shelled out $100 million in cash and stock for an 85%
interest in the icon's income stream in February. Sillerman promptly shook
things up by cranking out new DVD and television releases featuring the
King.

A two-hour documentary broadcast on Viacom's CBS Network generated $5.5
million alone. And while some fans fretted that outside management might mar
the appeal of Graceland, revenue is up at the Memphis shrine. Next on the
agenda: plans for a Las Vegas attraction, though details--like what, when
and where--have yet to be announced. -- Peter Kafka

Tennesseans May Opt To Have An Elvis Image On Their Real Car License Plates
Special Project For The Med Foundation.

MED FOUNDATION UNVEILS NATION'S FIRST ELVIS PRESLEY LICENSE PLATE

Memphis, TN (October 27, 2005) -- The MED Foundation and Elvis Presley
Enterprises, Inc., are pleased to announce the unveiling of a new license
plate in memory of Elvis Presley. The EP License Plate, which the public may
immediately order through the MED Foundation, features the King of Rock N'
Roll with guitar in hand striking one of his most memorable poses. The
license plate will benefit the Regional Medical Center at Memphis (The MED),
which houses the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, the only medical
facility bearing Elvis's name.

The State of Tennessee will begin production on the License Plate as soon as
The MED Foundation has received a minimum of 1,000 orders for it. The
Foundation is accepting orders for the first 1,000 plates by calling the
toll free numbers 877-545-EPLP or 877-545-3757, or by visiting the MED
Foundation website at www.elvislp.com.

The idea for the Elvis Presley plate came from Roselyn Miller, a MED
employee, who - in 1999 - felt so strongly about the project that she
contacted the MED Foundation. "I just felt that if a plate such as this were
done in "good taste" it would not only be a wonderful way to promote the
memory of Elvis Presley, and the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center at The
MED, but would also spotlight Elvis's home-state of Tennessee."

The proposal was presented to Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., (EPE, Inc.)
and Jack Soden, President of EPE, Inc., has endorsed the effort. Mr. Soden
is also a member of The MED Foundation Board of Directors.

Senator Mark Norris (R-TN) brought the project before the Tennessee State
Legislature in Nashville. Then, State Representative Kathryn Bowers also
sponsored a similar bill in support of the plate in 2005. The license plate
will be sold for about $35.00, with a portion of the proceeds going to The
MED each time the plate is renewed. Though Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE,
Inc.) is supporting the project, no portion of the proceeds is being
directed to EPE, Inc.

If the State of Tennessee moves ahead with production of the License Plate,
Tennessee would become the only state in the nation with a license plate
bearing the name of the King of Rock N' Roll.

USA edition of "Hitstory" rewrites gaffes from Elvis 30 #1s

"To clarify previous reviews...this is not "Nothing New." The first one disc
comp 30 #1s presented alternate versions of A Big Hunk o' Love, A Fool Such
As I, and The Wonder of You. On top of that all stereo songs were remixed.
Suspicious Minds has been subjected to flanging.

Now in gathering the two CDs (the above mentioned 30 #1s and 2nd to None)
the correct versions are used and not remixed. Vic Anesini did a wonderful
job on this! The third disc gathers 19 additional top twenty singles. The
title Hitstory is earned on an 80 songs comp that delivers the hit singles!"

It's curtains for 'Legends':

It's curtains for 'Legends': Elvis was sick, for only the second time in
five years. Luckily, Tina Turner could get time off from her day job in the
lingerie department at Boscov's. Yes, these are the waning days for the
longest-running musical revue in Atlantic City - the always-legendary
Legends in Concert show, featuring not-famous singers impersonating famous
singers, a rotating cast of faux legends with a huge, somewhat-obsessed
following and a run that rivals Cats on Broadway (6,600 shows to Cats'
7,485). First Miss America, now Legends is getting the hook. It will be
replaced by The Price Is Right Live Stage Show ("Come on down!") at the
Palace Theater in the Claridge, which is part of Bally's, which is now owned
by Harrah's Entertainment, which made the decision.

The show - one of the only steady gigs for musicians, singers and dancers in
a town that used to employ hundreds - will impersonate its last legend,
fittingly, on Halloween night. It has been at Bally's for 11 years, with
runs at other casinos for several years before that." Crowd numbers are
still strong and they still get standing ovations.

Fans are distraught, like Rich Brelicki, who last week arrived direct from
Vegas with a message for James Lowrey, the Elvis with the sore throat. ("We
regret to inform you that Elvis will not be performing," deadpanned the
only-in-Atlantic-City sign outside the Palace. "Instead, we are pleased to
offer you the musical stylings of Tina Turner.")

Brelicki has seen 66 Legends in Concert shows and never tires of telling the
story of how he once shouted up to James Lowrey/Elvis Presley, "Give my wife
some sweat!" Like many, he has waited in line for hours so he could get a
seat up front. He's on a first-name basis with the four maitre d's, who also
are getting canned.

But wait, there was Gloria Estefan sticking her head out of her dressing
room. Behind her, Ritchie Valens was blowing out his pompadour. Walking
backstage at a Legends show is like going into a casino-act wax museum (a
phrase that, before this town got its headlining-musical act together not
too long ago, might have been considered redundant) come to life. And then
Tina Turner arrived. Lori Mitchell-Gay, the most legendary of all the
Legends, has played every black diva around: Whitney, Tina, Aretha, Janet,
Donna, Natalie and Diana.

The appeal of the Legends show is part novelty (Wow, that singer looks and
sounds like the real thing!), part fantasy (Wow, it's Madonna looking down
at me!), and part pure entertainment (the dancers make about 16 costume
changes during the 75-minute show). There's no lip-synching. The cast
members see their role as more tribute than parody; blues guitarist Billy
Cade agreed to do his impeccable B.B. King act only after personally asking
the singer for permission. In Vegas once, the real Kenny Rogers performed in
a Legends show and nobody caught on.

For Mitchell-Gay, originally from Philadelphia, Legends was the gig that
kept on giving, enough so that she settled near Atlantic City and raised a
family. She described Atlantic City as "fickle" in the way it relates to its
live performers. On the one hand, casinos such as the Borgata have had great
success bringing in a better caliber of musical entertainment (a House of
Blues opened this year at Showboat). On the other hand, casinos seem less
inclined to support long-running shows such as Legends or to use musicians
in lounges and restaurants.

Bill Borenstein, Harrah's director of entertainment, said the decision to
close Legends came after Bally's customers said in surveys they wanted a
chance to see The Price Is Right show, which had been farther up the
Boardwalk at Showboat. Borenstein said he was a Legends fan, but wanted to
bring in something new.

Alternate Edition Of Elvis Greatest Hits, Vol. 1.

This is without a doubt the rarest American compact disc we have ever seen.
So rare that until now its existence has only been a rumor. Originally
produced by Joan Deary in 1981 it would be released with a different song
content and different cover. This version features the original front and
back cover and original song line up. Much like the mysterious picture disc
version of 50,000,000 Elvis Fans produced by Deary for RCA and never
released, this monster never saw the light of day. On this version Don't Cry
Daddy and What'd I Say are replaced by In The Ghetto and Surrender.

Song titles: The Wonder Of You, Burning Love, There Goes My Everything, Big
Hunk O' Love, Suspicious Minds, In The Ghetto, Steamroller Blues, Sound Of
Your Cry, Surrender, You'll Never Walk Alone.

The famous outfit jumps off a coathanger to jig with the WUTHERING HEIGHTS
hitmaker in the promo, as fantastic newspaper headlines about Presley,
including 'I Had Elvis' Alien Baby' and 'Sighting of Elvis in Yeti Colony'
float onto the screen.

In the song, Bush sings, 'Elvis, are you hiding somewhere, looking like a
happy man.'

She also references movie mogul ORSON WELLES in the tune, singing about the
mythical sledge ROSEBUD from Welles' classic CITIZEN KANE.

The sledge, with Rosebud written on it, appears in the last frame of the
video.

Elvis gets the G.I. Blues.

Elvis' induction into the Army was a sucker punch for the first generation
of rock & roll fans. The King was twenty-four years old and at the peak of
his success when he was drafted in December 1957 (he would get a deferment
until March 1958 so he could complete the filming of King Creole), and he
was justifiably concerned that his stint in the military would ruin his
career, as the public saw him transform from a pompadoured rocker to a
crew-cut G.I. But what Presley and his fans viewed as a potential tragedy,
his manager Colonel Tom Parker saw as a PR opportunity. He reasoned Elvis'
service as a proud, patriotic young man would be a boon to his public image.
With plenty of recorded material in the can, releases were paced to keep
Presley in the public eye for the duration of his Army stint. Parker's ploy
worked: with his popularity as strong as ever, Presley was discharged two
years later to resume his reign as the King of Rock & Roll.

Elvis Presley Enterprises kept music legend's memory alive to tune of $40
million in 2004.

Elvis is alive.

OK, maybe not in the actual, medical sense of the word, but from a sales and
marketing perspective Elvis is almost as hot today as when he first shook
his scandalous hips on the Ed Sullivan show in 1956.

The beauty of Elvis is that there are so many facets to him," said Scott
Williams, the marketing manager for Elvis Presley Enterprises, the name of
the company that oversees business operations of the Elvis estate.

Williams was in town yesterday speaking to the Nashville Advertising
Federation, a local industry group, about how to market a rock legacy long
after the celebrity himself has died."What we want to do is let fans enjoy
Elvis in their own way," he said.

Scott Williams, marketing manager for Elvis Presley Enterprises, speaks to
the Nashville Advertising Federation at Scarritt-Bennett Center about how to
market a dead music superstar's legacy.

Photo: Scott Williams, marketing manager for Elvis Presley Enterprises,
speaks to the Nashville Advertising Federation at Scarritt-Bennett Center
about how to market a dead music superstar's legacy.

Translation: Whether you like Elvis solely for his music, for his movies,
for the kitsch factor - or better yet, for all those reasons, Williams' job
is to offer plenty of innovative ways to meet that demand. And judging from
the numbers, it's a business strategy that's working.

Last year, EPE brought in roughly $40 million, making Elvis No. 1 on Forbes
magazine's 2004 list of the top-earning dead celebrities, ahead of Peanuts
creator Charles Schulz and Lord of The Rings author J.R.R Tolkien.

In February, New York-based company CKX acquired an 85% stake in EPE from
Presley's daughter Lisa Marie Presley for roughly $108 million in cash and
stock, according to SEC filings. In addition, the company paid wife
Priscilla Presley $6.5 million and annual payments of $550,000 for the next
eight years for commercial use of the Presley name.

A month after buying EPE, the company purchased 19 Entertainment, the
company that created the Pop Idols television franchise. Already, Williams
hinted, the sister companies are working together, as Graceland recently
hosted the top four contestants on Canadian Idol, footage of which became
great fodder for Elvis.com.

Elvis.com, which draws 600,000 unique visitors per month and drew 1 million
during August, the month Elvis died, keeps its audience engaged with such
mundane technologies as a Webcam on the property and message boards."

The Webcam is the second-most-popular destination on the site aside from the
home page," Williams told the roughly 50-person crowd. "We've even gotten
e-mails from people telling us, 'I just saw shuttle bus No. 403 pull up. The
right brake light is out.' I'm not making this up."

But there's also plenty of licensed merchandise offered online as well.
Everything from an $87 wallet from fashion designer Paul Frank to the $199
Elvis Super Deluxe jumpsuit. CKX's latest quarterly earnings report
indicates that of its $18.9 million in revenue, $10.3 million derived from
royalties and licensing.

Elvis licensing is such a big business that a full-time staff of 10 people
does nothing but handle licensing deals. And yet, despite having about 400
ongoing licensing partnerships, a full 98% of proposed Elvis projects are
rejected each year, Williams said."

After Elvis died, there were so many licensing deals signed that led to a
lot of very tacky stuff," Williams said. (Moments before, he was standing
before a luncheon audience extolling the potential eBay value of a
limited-edition Elvis CelebriDuck - a branded line of celebrities done up in
rubber duck form.)

Said Williams: "We're very careful. We only do licensing deals that make
sense with the Elvis image."

Presley Commission Investigation Formally Ends - FBI And Other Files Put On
Display.

The Presley Commission and The Elvis is Alive Museum in Missouri are happy
to announce that assorted files and 2915 pages of FBI documents on Elvis
Presley are now on display at the museum in Wright City, Missouri.  This
past Saturday, Phil Aitcheson, the former director of the Presley Commission
delivered the files and the FBI pages to the museum to formally end the
commission's investigation of the "Elvis Alive" case, and turning over any
other collection of documentation to the Elvis is Alive Museum.

Aitcheson and Beeny state that now Elvis fans from all over the world can
venture to Wright City, enter the museum, free of charge (no admission), and
see the files on display.  It is a fantastic opportunity for the fans to see
files that have never before been released to the public, and it took the
commission 5 years to obtain the 2915 pages, now available under The Freedom
of Information/Privacy Act guidelines.

The action to donate the files comes in the wake of the announcement that
the book "The Presley Alternative" written by Aitcheson/Wines will be
released sometime by mid year 2006.

The book will detail the process that was executed or Elvis to depart public
view and outline the events and evidence that support it.  Many other items
will appear in the book again never published before, particularly a focus
on Elvis' other professional involvments.

Faces Of The Famous.

Elvis Presley, Roy Rogers and Patsy Cline are just a few of the faces
appearing in the Huntington Museum of Art Oct. 22. Gordon Gillingham, a
photographer employed by the Grand Ole Opry, took photographs of these three
stars and other country music legends from the 1950s. Sixty of his pictures
will be on display at the museum in an exhibition titled "Grand Ole Opry."

John Gillispie, public relations director at the Huntington Museum of Art,
said because Gillingham worked with the singers, his photos show the
performers on a personal level. "That's what makes these photos different,"
Gillispie said. "You are seeing the celebrities in a more relaxed
environment."

Gordon Gillingham had a great appreciation for his subjects and a wonderful
rapport with the performers. These images wonderfully capture the spirit,
energy, camaraderie and sheer joy of performing that permeated both
musicians and fans of the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950s, according to a press
release about the show.

"Grand Ole Opry" is part of a traveling show. Museums are sent offers and a
committee at the museum decides on an exhibition from these choices. "One
interesting thing is to see who was part of the Grand Ole Opry. Not many
people know Elvis was a part of the Opry," Chris Hatten, a member of the
committee, said of the photos.

Gillispie said the committee selected this exhibition was because of the
popularity of the Linda McCartney show in 2000. "The Linda McCartney show
had rock and roll pictures," he said. "This is the country music
equivalent." Another reason the museum chose the pictures was because of the
popularity of musicians such as Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline.

Cashier Jailed Over Elvis Theft.

Julie Wall bought hundreds of CDs, records and signed mementoes

A town hall cashier who stole more than £500,000 in car-parking fees to fund
her obsession with Elvis Presley has been jailed for three years. Julie
Wall, 46, took up to £10,000 a month for nearly a decade at North Kesteven
District Council to spend on records, Lincoln Crown Court heard.

Officials only realised the theft when an audit was carried out. Wall, of
Rippon Drive, Sleaford, whose job was counting coins from cashboxes at car
parks, admitted theft. Council bosses had regarded her as a "mild and
modest" employee, the court was told. But she used the cash to buy hundreds
of CDs, DVDs, videos and signed mementoes during visits to record fairs,
auctions and internet sites.

The court was told she got away with her "extraordinary" crimes because the
council never carried out any checks, until an audit was carried out earlier
this year. Wall, a council employee for 30 years, repeatedly held back
hundreds of pounds from each box and then exchanged the coins for notes used
in other council transactions. Sam Robinson, prosecuting, said that between
January 1996 and July this year she was estimated to have stolen more than
£557,000. Luke Blackburn, mitigating, told the court Wall had been in the
grip of "an exceptional habit" and was now ashamed of herself. Det Con
Graeme Baker, of the Lincolnshire Police Financial Investigation Unit, said
that when Wall was arrested officers seized thousands of Elvis related items
from her home.

A spokesman for North Kesteven District Council said Miss Wall had been
dismissed and that "steps were being taken" to recover money she had
pocketed. A confiscation and compensation hearing has been scheduled for
next year when the collection is expected to be auctioned off to raise the
cash taken from the council. Det Con Baker said: "The collection could
potentially raise in excess of half a million if it was sold off.

Signature Wines Among Fastest Growing Private Companies.

Following is a press release from EPE licensee Signature Wines:

Signature Wines on Inc. 500 List of Fastest Growing Private Companies;
Custom Labels, Wine Clubs and Elvis Fuel Growth of Innovative Wine Firm

Signature Wines Celebrates Inc. 500 Listing.

HAYWARD, Calif--Oct. 19, 2005--Corks popped today at Signature Wines on news
that the firm has been named to Inc. Magazine's 2005 Inc. 500 list of
America's fastest growing private companies. The Hayward, California-based
wine seller vaulted on to the coveted list through an innovative mix of
internet-based custom private label solutions, wine club services and the
Graceland Cellars brand of Elvis Presley wines.

"We're thrilled to be named one of America's fastest growing companies,"
said Signature Wines CEO Scott Cahill. "As premium wine continues to grow in
popularity, we expect that our innovative approach to wine sourcing,
marketing, and distribution will keep us on the list for years to come."

Signature Wines revolutionized the concept of custom-labeled wines with its
internet platform that allows anyone to create professional wine labels
online, with minimal turnaround time. Particularly popular with small and
medium-sized businesses and professional services firms, Signature Wines'
custom-labeled products are one of the company's fastest growing lines of
business. The corporate, wedding and hospitality markets have embraced
Signature Wines as the industry's best solution for custom-labeled wines.

Signature Wines has also carved a unique niche in the wine club category,
providing wine club administration including sourcing, promotion, compliance
and fulfillment services to diverse organizations. Partnerships with Sunset
Magazine and others have made Signature Wines an industry leader in wine
club services.

Signature Wines, in partnership with Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE),
bottles Elvis Presley's Graceland Cellars Jailhouse Red Merlot, The King
Cabernet Sauvignon, Blue Suede Chardonnay and Blue Christmas Napa Cabernet
Sauvignon. Signature Wines has established retail distribution in over 40

Las Vegas Gaming Wire.

Elvis has left the building, at least for a short time.

When the Las Vegas Hilton began the initial phase of a planned five-year
redevelopment and expansion of the aging off-Strip resort, a statue of
singer Elvis Presley, who used to grace the Hilton showroom, was moved from
its place at the property's front entrance into storage.

Once the lobby, main entry area, porte cochere and front desk are remodeled,
Elvis will be returned for guests to enjoy and photograph.

"Elvis will be back, we promise," said Las Vegas Hilton spokesman Ira
Sternberg. He said the current construction is expected to be completed in
December.

In the meantime, construction crews are busy changing the main entrance at
the Las Vegas Hilton. The property's revolving door entry will remain but a
new system is being installed.

A new casino bar and lounge toward the center of the property's main casino
is being added to a location that housed casino marketing offices. A coffee,
wine and pastry bar is being built near the lobby.

Recently, the Las Vegas Hilton opened an 11-table poker room in the casino
area near the race and sports book. In the hotel tower, 45 third-floor Lanai
suites and 13 director suites were refurbished with new flooring, window
coverings, bathroom fixtures and electronic enhancements, such as plasma
screen televisions.

The first phase of the construction projects will cost Las Vegas Hilton
owner Colony Capital $20 million. Over the next five years, the Las Vegas
Hilton will be enhanced to make better use of the resort's 59-acre site on
Paradise Road. Company officials were unclear if that might include
additional hotel rooms or increased casino capacity.

In 1999, a 16-story Grand Vacations timeshare property opened on the north
edge of the Las Vegas Hilton site.

"This project is the beginning of a five-year master plan that will expand
this property and fully utilize the entire acreage," Las Vegas Hilton
General Manager Rudy Prieto said.

Colony Capital bought the Las Vegas Hilton in 2003 from Caesars
Entertainment for $280 million. Hilton Hotels Corp. licensed use of the
Hilton name back to Colony Capital through 2008.

Toward the end of its ownership of the Las Vegas Hilton, Caesars
Entertainment did little to remodel the hotel-casino, other than normal
maintenance.

A race and sports book was added in 1986, and parking garages were added
1988 and 1997. The property's last major enhancement took place in 1998 when
the Star Trek Experience and Space Quest Casino were opened.

Built and opened by Kirk Kerkorian in 1969 as the International, the Las
Vegas Hilton had two major expansions -- the east tower in 1975 and the
north tower in 1978 which gave the Y-shaped building its full complement of
3,000 rooms.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas professor David Schwartz, who is coordinator
of the Gaming Studies Research Center, said the Las Vegas Hilton name and
history were too important for the new ownership to relinquish.

"It's a great property with a nice location (next to the Las Vegas
Convention Center) with nice amenities," Schwartz said. "There seemed to be
some fighting within the ownership, so that's why the property seemed to
suffer."

During the past year, Las Vegas Hilton executives reviewed concepts, plans
and material for construction and remodeling.

"Not much had been done over the last few years," Sternberg said. "We think
this initial construction project will give the property a dramatic new
look."

Eventually, all the public locations will be remodeled, including the main
casino area. While the existing crystals and mirror panels will remain, the
new Las Vegas Hilton will have a modern look with new carpeting, seating,
wall coverings and finishes. Employees also will also have new uniforms.

NO ELVIS IN ROBBIE VIDEO.

Robbie Williams was in Blackpool this week to secretly film his new video
promo for his next single which was to feature Elvis Presley memorabilia throughout.
But, business man Sid Shaw has been left fuming as solicitors have stepped in and
stopped his Elvis products being used in the video.

According to Sid - who owns and runs the Elvisly Yours store in London's
Baker Street, London based film production company Exposure Films visited the shop
and wanted to buy and hire a collection of items.

"They wanted the famous pop video director David la Chappelle to come to my
shop and pick all the memorabilia for the shoot in Blackpool," said Sid. "I
was willing to offer full assistance to use my copyright images of Elvis and to
loan life- size Elvis artworks and our life-size bronze Elvis statue for free."

But Sid was left Crying In the Chapel when someone's Suspicious Mind meant
the company took their Blue Suede Shoes elsewhere.

"I was told the idea of using Elvis imagery had been scrapped and instead a
whole new script has been written without Elvis Presley," said Sid who blames "the
advice of some stupid and incompetent lawyer who did not know I defeated the Elvis
Presley Estate in the British Courts allowing the use of copyright Elvis
images, even in videos."

"Also, my Elvis images are copyright worldwide and have been seen all over
the world for more than 25 years in hundreds of TV news stories, documentaries,
plays, shows and even the Rolling Stones used us for a pop video called
Revolver." Nobody from Exposure films was available for comment today.

This is certainly a great shame as the image and legend of Elvis being used
in a Robbie Williams promo video would have yet again brought the King to the
forefront and directly into the homes of todays youth.

"Elvis was full of energy"

The Belgian Movie Festival opened its doors yesterday. Central guest is Mike
Stoller. For that occasion, the Flemish news paper "Gazet van Antwerpen"
published an interview with Leiber & Stoller. This is one excerpt: "We
didn't socialize much with Elvis, but we had a special relationship. Jerry
came from the ghetto of Baltimore, Maryland. That's the lowest of all
places. Presley had similar roots in the South.

We understood each other right away. Elvis was good-natured, and incredibly
funny. He had the energy, vitality and strength of a Olympic champion. He
did a hundred takes in a row, without getting tired. That was one of the
reasons why we loved him so much.

He blew all the other artists we've ever worked with, off stage. And we
worked with the best of them: the Drifters, the Coasters, the Clovers...
It's really no coincidence that Elvis became the mythical entertainer he is
today."

In Bed With Elvis ( Article from the brand-new Playboy )

He was the king of everything but where it counted most
by Byron Raphael with Alanna Nash.

Byron Raphael was a 22-year-old agent in training at the William Morris
Agency in Beverly Hills in 1956, when, working in the mail room, he
delivered an envelope to Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley's manager, at
Twentieth Century Fox. Parker immediately appropriated him ("Tell your
bosses you're going to work for me ") and made Raphael his spy - within both
the Morris office and Elvis's camp. But Elvis had different plans for
Raphael. He made the young man part of his personal entourage and entrusted
him with a very special task: sorting through Elvis's female fans for women
who would share the King's bed. "My life was so unbelievable. I felt like
the luckiest guy in the world," says Raphael, now 71. He has never told
these stories until now.

In the early summer of 1960 the most explosive and legendary sex symbols of
the era sized each other up in the street in front of a Twentieth Century
Fox soundstage and came away unnerved, if not befuddled. Elvis Presley, the
25-year-old rock-and-roll phenomenon, his shellacked hair polished to the
blue-black sheen of an uptown Cadillac, was just back from the Army and had
parlayed his date with Uncle Sam into the tepid musical G.I. Blues. Having
mowed his way through the Lido chorus line in Paris on weekends while he was
stationed in Germany (it was nothing for Elvis's small entourage to
entertain 35 dancers as overnight guests), the Pelvis was bewitched by the
foreign charm of his G.I. Blues co-star, Juliet Prowse. Despite being one of
Frank Sinatra's girls, the South African dancer and actress eagerly engaged
in sex with the hip-wiggling headliner, who bragged to his friends that
Prowse liked to grab her ankles and spread her legs wide during the act.
However, she was not only older but smarter than Elvis, and she quickly
moved on before filming even wrapped.

Now another older but far more introspective star had caught the King's eye.
Marilyn Monroe, reeling from her fractious marriage to playwright Arthur
Miller and her affair with actor and singer Yves Montand, was co-starring
with the latter in Let's Make Love, then in production at Fox. Elvis was due
to start principal photography on Flaming Star there in August, and two
months earlier he reported to the studio for wardrobe. I was with Elvis and
his entourage in his dressing room when one of the guys began goading him.
"Man, you gotta meet Marilyn Monroe," he said. "Elvis, you've got to ask
Marilyn out!" Elvis, far more shy than his stage antics suggested, shook his
head. "No," he said, "she won't talk to me." Another of the guys pushed him
harder. "Elvis, man, you're a star! You've gotta take the bull by the horns.
It's Marilyn Monroe! You've gotta be forceful!" Elvis, though, wasn't used
to working that hard for women. His fame was already such that he couldn't
take a woman to dinner without being mobbed by fans, but that also worked in
his favor, helping ensure he'd get laid each night. He simply invited girls
to the party he held in his suite every evening at the Beverly Wilshire
Hotel.

Such blanket invitations reduced the chance of personal rejection, but they
also allowed for a more practical cover: Other members of his entourage
could take the blame if an unfortunate pregnancy should arise. That may have
happened a few times, as Colonel Parker had several important dinners with
the parents of young girls who spent too much time with Elvis. After that,
Parker had a directive. "When any girl comes up to Elvis's room, I want to
make sure at least two of you guys are around," he said. "That way if any
problems come up, you can say, 'Well, we made it with her also.' " Any girl
who came up to see Elvis - even a famous actress like Monroe - would have to
sit around with one of the other guys before she went in alone with Elvis.

Finally, the guys talked Elvis into taking his chances, and somehow we found
out which soundstage was Monroe's. Then the four of us, including Gene
Smith, Elvis's dim-witted cousin (his briefcase contained only a hairbrush
and a doorknob), and Cliff Cleaves, a sometime member of Elvis's entourage
who was often suspended from the group for grift and hooliganism, began to
make our way over on bicycles. We almost missed her: Monroe, dressed in a
bathrobe and looking distraught, her hair all askew, was suddenly in front
of us, coming out of stage 23. Elvis approached her in his usual
self-deprecating way, his soft baritone edged in sweet Southern charm:
"Hello, my name is Elvis Presley. How are you, Miss Monroe?" Monroe smiled
in a way that said she liked how Elvis filled out his Oxford trousers, but
then her face fell as she took in his companions: Smith, the most pathetic
yokel who ever hit Hollywood (he seemed to know only one word, no, yet hoped
to pursue a movie career under the name El Gino Stone), and the always
embarrassing Cleaves, a smooth operator who was so oily he practically left
stains where he walked. Monroe, forever insecure, had been searching for
class in her choices of husband (Miller) and lover (Montand), and the sight
of Elvis's barely civilized friends launched an unmistakable look of fear
and disgust. Oblivious to her reaction, Elvis began his roundabout way of
asking for a date, mentioning the party and inviting her to come.

"Oh. I'm sorry. I can't," she declined in a breathy rush, seeming far more
subdued than her vivacious screen self. She wasn't feeling well, she said -
a headache from some kind of allergy - and promptly pulled a bottle of pills
from her purse. It was one of the rare times Elvis was refused.

But Elvis took away something from the encounter after all. As a studio aide
offered Monroe a cup of water, I spotted the physician's name - Dr. Hyman
Engelberg - on the prescription label. Elvis did too. A few weeks later he
had his own prescription from the doctor in his dressing room.

This brief meeting between perhaps the two most famous people who had ever
lived has never been reported, although the notion of Elvis romancing Monroe
has fueled the fantasies behind several bad paintings, a middling novel and
a less than stellar Leon Russell tribute. Despite the nine-year difference
in their ages, they would have made a smashing couple: Elvis, no longer a
greasy god but a sloe-eyed prince and one of the most handsome men in the
world, and Monroe, her beauty worn and fading but still able to imbue her
tragic face with a winning, wished-for innocence.

If Monroe was not overly impressed with Elvis, other stars had taken notice
of him in a major way, particularly after his incendiary performance on
October 28, 1957 at Los Angeles's Pan Pacific Auditorium, his first show in
his new hometown. A who's who of celebrities and their children were there
on the first of a two-night booking when Elvis scandalized the crowd with
the most lascivious and lewd display many of them had ever seen. It was more
suggestive by far than anything that ever went on inside the hootchy-kootchy
tents of Colonel Parker's carnival past. Previously published accounts have
only hinted at precisely what went on that evening, leaving out the explicit
details that made this one of Elvis's most legendary appearances.

Of course I was there. The Colonel had put me on Nipper patrol that night,
which meant he positioned me beneath the stage and charged me with the
safety of a three-foot-high plaster-of-paris canine - the infamous
cocked-ear mascot of RCA, Elvis's recording label. Elvis was going to use
the pup as a prop during "Hound Dog." "Whatever you do, don't let that dog
fall off the stage," Parker snapped. "And tell Mr. Presley you're going to
hold Nipper up, so he doesn't have to worry. He can just be free. "The
Colonel often said, "Elvis has stardust," meaning it was remarkable how such
a shy person could change himself into a creature of infinite magnetism
onstage. But the old hustler never dreamed of what Elvis was planning to do
with man's best friend.

Elvis came onstage with his now-famous gold-leaf jacket topping a pair of
loose-fitting black dress slacks. During his 50-minute, 18-song set, he
"wiggled, bumped and twisted," according to Jack O'Brian of the New York
Journal-American, one of the many out-of-town papers that covered the event.
But it was the closing "Hound Dog" that prompted another paper's headline:
ELVIS PRESLEY WILL HAVE TO CLEAN UP HIS SHOW -- OR GO TO JAIL. I don't know
exactly what got into him, but as he launched into that song he was vastly
different from the Elvis I knew at the studio. His eyes were dilated, as if
he were taking his direction from someplace far, far away. Then he did the
unthinkable. Pumped up by either adrenaline or libido, he began to unfasten
his pants and slowly pull down his zipper, which prompted wild screaming
from an audience already frenzied by the sexual surge Elvis sent out through
the auditorium.

With his pants now open but not down, Elvis reached for Nipper, which I
still held tightly from below the stage. Suddenly Elvis pressed the dog
against his crotch, and I could feel him pushing it back on me as he rode
the pooch back and forth in a masturbatory glide. As the crowd noise grew to
a furious roar, Elvis continued to dry-hump poor Nipper.

Then all of a sudden Elvis pulled the dog out of my grip and began rolling
around on the floor with it in full simulation of bestial bliss. It was one
of the most shocking things I'd ever seen. There's no question that Elvis
was trying to have sex, because when he finally gave the dog back to me, I
could see a huge hard-on through his pants. The next night the L.A. vice
squad came armed with warnings, and the police filmed the show. But Elvis
toned it down, and Nipper made it through without undue violation.

By this time Elvis had already started using me in a way I could never have
dreamed, particularly at his get-togethers with comely young women at the
Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

One night I took my new wife, Carolyn, to one of his parties. Carolyn was
hoping to become a singer, and I could tell Elvis thought she was
attractive. Later, when he and I were sitting in his dressing room at the
studio, he said, "Your wife sure is a sweet one, Byron. That's the kind of
girl I've been looking for. There must be hundreds of girls outside the
gate. Why don't you see if you can find me another Carolyn? In fact, take
care of business for me."

From that moment on I wasn't just the Colonel's spy, I was also Elvis's
pimp. It was my job to supply him with young girls, particularly his ideal
type, a five-foot-four brunette with pretty, firm breasts, beautiful eyes
and a round butt - like Carolyn. More than anything, Elvis was an ass man.
To him that was the most sensual part of a woman's body.

It was amazing how many girls I found who fit that bill. But one time after
a concert, I procured for Elvis a luscious woman who stood five-foot-10. I
guided her into his bedroom without warning him that she wasn't his usual
type of girl. Sure enough, later that night Elvis came out in his bathrobe
and barked, "There were 10,000 girls out there, and you picked the only one
on stilts! Don't send any more amazons in here!"

Elvis would soon carry the appellation the King, but ironically, the
so-called dangerous rock-and-roll idol was anything but a despotic ruler in
the bedroom. Though Elvis described his sexual appetites as voracious - he'd
say, "I like it hot and heavy, Byron the Siren, hot and heavy" - he really
wasn't all that keen on doing the wild thing. He was far more interested in
heavy petting and panting and groaning.

That's where it usually stopped with him, though Elvis was particularly fond
of blow jobs and had no guilt about them. I especially remember a young girl
named Linda, who Elvis always said gave the best hummers he'd ever had. He
had a fabulous sense of humor, and when Linda made him come, he'd yell out.
"I just hit a high A!" The guys and I would stand at the crack in the door
and watch Linda's golden head bob up and down and wait for Elvis to break
into song.

Within months my marriage to Carolyn was over - on orders from Parker, who
said he wanted no distractions from my job - so Gene Smith and I worked out
a routine for getting Elvis's guests lathered up. We'd survey the crowd at
the studio gates or at Elvis's shows and then bring the girls up to the
hotel. Smith and I always played the same game, telling the girls we had to
audition them. We'd ask them to take their tops off, saying we had to make
sure Elvis would like their breasts. I warned, "No inverted nipples, now.
Elvis doesn't go for that." Then I'd say. "Tell me what you're going to do
with Elvis, because he's kind of shy." And I'd lie down on the couch and
say. "Now show me what you're going to do to make Elvis feel good. He's a
real gentleman, so you're going to have to make the first move." The girl
would lie down on top of me and in seconds grab my penis. When I'd come, I'd
say, "Kiss it, kiss it. That's what Elvis likes!" Then I'd take her into his
bedroom.

Elvis would be lying in bed naked except for his underwear. He was
well-endowed, and he always had a hard-on, even before the girl entered the
room. I once saw him position a girl to sit on his face, his hands clutching
her butt. She rubbed herself into his mouth, and I heard his muffled groan.
Then he turned her over and put his fingers inside her, moving them back and
forth. I remember her saying. "Take me! Take me!" That wasn't going to
happen. Elvis rolled over, and they rubbed against each other some more,
Elvis moaning. "It's good, sweetness. It's good." But he would never put
himself inside one of these girls. Within minutes he'd be asleep, and often
the girl would still be rubbing herself against him. I'd step in and say,
"It's time to go now, honey. Elvis needs to sleep. He's got another show."
And I'd peel her off him.

Girls would come out of his bedroom in tears, crying, "Elvis wouldn't take
my virginity! He said to wait until my wedding night!" Or they'd get
hysterical, whining, "Elvis doesn't love me!" I'd say, "No, that's not true.
The sheet was wet, wasn't it? You made him feel good. He just wants to make
sure you don't have a baby. He'll call you again." Of course he almost never
did. But he'd slip some of the younger ones 10 $100 bills.

Elvis seldom went all the way in these situations, for two reasons. One, he
was uncircumcised, and he worried that his foreskin would tear during
intercourse. And. two, he always remembered his mother teaching him that sex
before marriage was a sin. One day I brought three young girls into Elvis's
bedroom - a preference he'd indulged since his earliest days on the road,
when he sometimes entertained six girls at once. Soon they were all naked,
but Elvis again stayed in his underwear, kissing and fondling them and
eventually falling asleep with them in his arms, his own records playing
softly in the background. At other times, back home in Memphis, he'd have
"slumber parties," which were threesomes with junior-high girls. He'd wash
their hair and put makeup on them and let them do the same to him. But when
it came to sex, Elvis was the king of kink, satisfied simply to let the
girls masturbate him until he ejaculated into their hair. Then he'd send
them home at four a.m. so they could go to school.

These were all young girls who probably had very little sexual experience.
But they knew something was missing, and they wanted more. When Elvis would
stop short of going all the way, they were as aroused as a man could ever
want a woman to be. That made it easy for members of the entourage to step
in and satisfy them on the living room couch.

While Elvis was making his first picture, Love Me Tender, in 1956, he tried
unsuccessfully to woo his co-star, Debra Paget, his physical ideal and the
model for both his eventual wife, Priscilla, and his last girlfriend, Ginger
Alden. Failing to land Paget, who found a far more enticing suitor in
billionaire Howard Hughes, Elvis began an off-and-on relationship with
Natalie Wood, a close friend of actor Nick Adams, a frequent guest at
Elvis's parties. She came to the studio that September, and I walked her
over to the soundstage. I could tell they were hot for each other the moment
they met. A knowing grin flew across Elvis's face, and he invited Wood to
the suite that night.

Wood arrived about nine o'clock. There were probably 15 people in the living
room. Elvis had just gotten out of the shower after heavy petting with other
girls, and he was wearing a white smoking jacket with the letters E.P.
embroidered in gold. He immediately gave Wood a hug and asked her if she'd
like to see some dailies from the film. They disappeared into the bedroom.

Twenty minutes later we were all surprised to see Wood storm out the door.
"What's the matter with your boss?" she demanded, glaring at me. "Doesn't he
know how to screw? He's all hands and no action." I fumbled for excuses, but
she kept on raving, "I thought he was supposed to be the king of the sack,
but he doesn't want to screw me! What's Elvis going to do, tell his buddies
I'm not sexy enough for him?" I assured her he would do no such thing. Then
she surprised me.

"What about you?" she asked me. "You can't get it up either?" I said, "Only
every ¬day." Wood smirked and scowled. "Show me," she said. She glanced back
at Gene Smith. "I think all you guys are homos."

Before I knew it, I was on top of her, frantically pulling off her pedal
pushers as she worked to remove my pants. Then I felt her hands guiding me
inside her. I pumped fast and furiously, and she did too. All of a sudden it
hit me that I was actually friendly Natalie Wood.

"I wish it could go on forever," I said and stopped pumping. But Wood was
all business. "Well, it won't," she cracked, "so just keep it up. And go
harder! You're not doing it hard enough!" I soon came as strong as I ever
had and then worried that I hadn't used a rubber. Wood pushed me off her and
quickly dressed.

"You're okay," she said matter-of-factly. "But tell Elvis if he wants to go
out with me again, I want to go all the way. You can also tell him I'm the
best **** in town." And then she left. I glanced at Elvis's bedroom and saw
him standing in the doorway. I don't know how much he'd witnessed, but he
simply closed the door and never mentioned it. He and Wood gave it another
whirl the following month in Memphis, but after that, when her name came up,
Elvis laughed ("Heaven help us") and said she was crazy.

Wood was not the only one to think Elvis and the guys might be homosexual,
especially since Elvis often wore pancake makeup and mascara offstage to
accentuate his brooding intensity, a la Tony Curtis and Rudolph Valentino,
his favorite movie actors. There were also rumors that Nick Adams swung both
ways, just as there had been about Adams's good pal (and Elvis's idol) James
Dean. Tongues wagged that Elvis and Adams were getting it on. But Elvis was
frightened of homosexuals; the Colonel had told him to be on the lookout for
them in Hollywood. He was even scared of Lizabeth Scott, the icy blonde who
played romantic scenes with him in 1957's Loving You, since Confidential
magazine had recently outed her as a lesbian with a bus
