New Elvis documentary in the works.

Pickle Productions (UK) is working on a documentary film about Elvis' early
years. It is being produced for the British broadcast and DVD market. Pickle
Productions has previously been responsible for documentaries on Kurt
Cobain, AC/DC and Queen. These have been informative historical
documentaries, and the Elvis programme will follow in this tradition,
looking primarily at his life in Memphis in the 1940s and 50s and his rise
to fame, as well as his lasting impact on popular music.

Rockwell: 'Zaphod is a bit like Elvis'.

Actor SAM ROCKWELL's alien character in the upcoming movie adaptation of THE
HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY is based on a mixture of famous Americans.

The 36-year-old star introduced an ELVIS PRESLEY quality to his portrayal of
space monster, ZAPHOD BEEBLEBROX after jokingly impersonating the rock 'n'
roll king with actor VINCE VAUGHN. And from that point on, Rockwell couldn't
stop bringing other famous Americans to the role.

Rockwell explains, "Vince and I were taking it in turns to be Elvis, just
playing around. From that improv came this kind of Elvis/Vince amalgam.
"Zaphod is a bit of Vince, a little Elvis, with some BILL CLINTON and a few
other things too. Maybe even a dash of GEORGE W BUSH."

Lisa Presley all loved up on tour with ex-husband and boyfriend.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY has convinced her first husband DANNY KEOUGH to join her
on tour. The bass player, who is the father of Presley's two children, has
been reluctant to team up with his ex, but has now accepted the role of her
musical sidekick on the road. Presley says, "I tried to get him on the first
record but he wouldn't have anything to do with it. I think he just didn't
want it to look like he needed to be associated with me to do anything. "I
was like, 'Get over it, you're a great bass player. It'll be great if you're
on the road,' 'cos he's also my best friend." Presley will be totally loved
up on the road - her new boyfriend, MICHAEL LOCKWOOD, is the rocker's
guitarist.

ANOTHER SCRIPT IN THE WORKS.

Aaron Webster, author of the critically acclaimed book "Elvis - A Radio
History" is currently adapting and 3-act script which will be intended for
theatrical feature, or made for TV production (as of yet un-optioned) ® WGA
Writer's Guild pending.

The story will be a music-filled biopic of the "Young Elvis: Memphis Flash"
era; spanning May 1955 - December 1955; when Elvis zipped around in a series
of junk, better and nicer Cadillac's, and he infiltrated Country & Western
entertainment and upstaged hillbilly acts.

The story will also detail his management relationship with country DJ, Bob
Neal and how that came to include side deals with a blustering ol' carny Tom
Parker, pitchman of a thousand names looking for that one Big Name to give
him his one big break.

Aaron Webster states; "This script has attitude, youthful, energetic,
mobility and is smartly tuned to "The New Rage" positive hope-filled finale
as he reaps rewards for a very busy year, and embarks upon a new career with
RCA Victor".

UPDATE FROM AARON WEBSTER:

Ernst Jorgensen has read the script's logline but due to Sony?BMG not having
a motion picture division, they are unable to make a film, he recommended to
Webster that he contact EPE.

Webster adds, "I approached Sony/BMG because the script designates places
for complete 1954-55 Elvis songs (studio and live) and parts of songs. I
personally would love to hear real Elvis vocals - not a sound-a-like.
Nothing is confirmed yet as to this script is not going into production
under any
particular company banner. But for this Country/Sun/Hayride perspective on
young Elvis, CMT (Country Music Television) would be an ideal broadcast
medium for an original bio-pic.
They have done compelling documentaries on artists in the past."

This Just In...From CBS Entertainment - Behind the Scenes with "Elvis"
Mini-Series.

Following is the third installment of a fun series of regular features from
CBS Entertainment with inside scoop from the production of the new
mini-series "Elvis":

How did Jonathan Rhys-Meyers approach the challenge of becoming Elvis for
the upcoming miniseries "Elvis?" According to Rhys-Meyers, He studied Elvis,
his films and his music, all the nuances that fans know and love. He also
worked with a dialect coach and a dance instructor so that his sound and
moves were authentic.

Both Rhys-Meyers and dialect coach David Dahlgren had reservations about the
accent: the actor didn't want to sound like a nightclub impersonator and the
dialect coach was concerned about getting an Irishman to sound like an
American southerner. "Elvis had more than just a regional [southern]
accent," said Dahlgren. "He had very distinctive speaking mannerisms,
pronunciations and inflections that are well-known to his audience." Actor
and coach worked on inflection and intonation and individual word
pronunciation. Rhys-Meyers also found it helpful to have his dialogue
written out phonetically. "For example, if he had to say 'I can't sing right
now,' it became 'Ah cain't sang rat now," Dahlgren explained. "We also
worked on speaking sincerely and naturally and, once this process became
second nature, Jonathan was free to concentrate on just his acting [in the
scenes]."

Marcus L. Brown was cast as Wynonnie Harris, a blues singer from the '50s
who influenced how Elvis Presley performed. Rhys-Meyers asked the producers
to hire Brown to help him perfect his own dance moves. Brown and Rhys-Meyers
watched a number of Elvis performances together and then went to work. "We
saw how his body moved and acknowledged the sexual essence of his
performance," Brown said. "Jonathan was a very quick study and very
passionate about what we were doing. We would work on a couple of things
[movements] for a shot and then he [Jonathan] would master another on his
own. He was able to hit a signature move at almost any point in the
performance." Brown also noted that in the process of breaking down Elvis'
movements, his and Rhys-Meyers' appreciation of Elvis Presley's talent
deepened.

And if clothes make the ordinary man, Elvis Presley's wardrobe stands out
all on its own. Eduardo Castro served as the costume designer on the
mini-series and noted that there are volumes of books and archival footage
on Elvis' clothes. "We were lucky that there are so many books available
that illustrate Elvis' style," said Castro. "One book, Elvis Fashion, was
published recently and it was invaluable. We had close-ups of the gold suit
as well as the black leather suit that Elvis wore [on his comeback
television special]. It also has a lot of archival photos from Graceland."

Castro's department had over 100 costume changes for Elvis alone, and actor
Rhys-Meyers wasn't in the country until a few days before production began.
"We just 'guesstimated' his sizes and luckily we were accurate," Castro
said. "We built most of his performance wear in Los Angeles, including the
famous gold suit and the black leather suit that Elvis wore for his comeback
television special." For the gold suit, Castro found a special fabric that
needed to be fused to a backing because it was so fragile. "It's very
lightweight but it's very close to the original fabric. The beads were made
of Austrian crystals and covered the lapels, the side stripes, the bow tie
and part of the shirt. The beading process took more than three weeks."

Castro also had to work with the difference in Elvis' style from his humble
beginnings through his rise to fame. "We wanted [his clothing] to be worn
out in the beginning, then get slicker as he became successful. Elvis
created a look for himself and had a patina about him. We were very careful
to keep that image alive."

As production drew to a close, all involved felt they had done their best to
meet the requirements of the Elvis Presley Estate. Per Todd Morgan, the
Director of Media and Creative Development for Elvis Presley Enterprises,
Inc.: "We wanted the mini-series to be unflinchingly honest but properly
balanced and, overall, to be as historically responsible as possible."

To that end, the estate pulled out all the stops to be of help to the
production team. They made suggestions for the script to be sure that the
dialogue and sequences in the mini-series were accurate. "The Graceland
Archives provided access to photos, home movies and artifacts," said Kevin
Kern, Media Coordinator for Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. "We worked with
the wardrobe and makeup departments on the mini-series to help create the
look needed for the 20 year span of the movie. Their set designers and
locations scouts visited Graceland in an effort to get a feel for the home
they would create in New Orleans [the primary location for the
mini-series]."

Best of all, the estate allowed the production to shoot for a day at
Graceland, the first time that a mini-series had been allowed to do so. "Six
scenes were shot on the grounds of Graceland," Kern continued. "[Graceland]
tours continued while the shooting took place, which required careful
planning." Almost 3,500 people took the Graceland tour that day and some
guests were able to snap pictures of the home and the stars in the movie.

As the cast and crew were arriving at Graceland the night prior to the
shoot, they were offered a special evening tour of the mansion. "We felt
that everyone would want to have the Graceland tour experience, but with the
intense one-day schedule [planned for the shoot], most would not have the
opportunity to break away for it," Todd Morgan said, so he and his staff
arranged for a special nighttime tour. "Being at Elvis Presley's home is a
special experience anytime, but it's never more magical than at night when
the regular daily public tours are over and you're there with just a few
other people. There's a spiritual presence of Elvis there all the time, a
certain kind of warmth, but it's stronger in the quiet of the night."

Morgan knew that taking the Graceland tour would increase the production
team's knowledge about Elvis and that they would feel closer to the very
real and fascinating person behind the legend. Did the experience contribute
an extra special element to the actors' performances? "Maybe it did," he
said. "Everything shot at Graceland turned out just beautifully."

ELVIS, a new four-hour mini-series, will be broadcast as the "CBS Sunday
Movie" Sunday, May 8 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) and Wednesday, May 11
(8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The fact-based drama
is about the life of Elvis Presley, one of the greatest entertainers who
ever lived. His electrifying story -- from his humble beginnings to his
meteoric rise to fame -- will be told. Also, Presley's master recordings
will be heard in a biographical film for the first time.

Comments from Ernst JØrgensen about the SUN Projects.

The news on the EU Sun Box ( see previous news yesterday)  mentioned that
the FTD project would concentrate mainly on the year 1955.

Mr. JØrgensen is indeed aware of this EU Sun Box  project. It seems the fans
will benefit from both projects.

'' I have known for quite some time that Joseph is working on a SUN project,
and we have had conversations about it, but apart from his stamper single I
have no idea what his materials are.

The "news" on several boards reveals nothing, but obviously sounds exciting.
I'm not an expert on the legal issues, but I assume that Joseph has done his
home work.

Although I am producing a project on the same subject (Elvis in 1953-55),
I'm just as much of a fan as the rest of you, and welcome any unpublished
material.

I see that Joseph has a list of great people helping - several of these
people are also helping me, and one of the greatest things for me in this
project is that so many people have decided to share their knowledge and
materials - it seems that everybody realises that it's time to forget about
personal agendas, and help create the historical document about these early
times - we will all benefit from this. ''

The discussion about Joseph's book will only really be meaningful when we
know the content, although dreaming and speculating is good fun.

However, when people suggest that we all pool our efforts, it makes little
sense. If Joseph had wanted to be involved in the FTD project, I'm sure he would
have told us.

The situation with Joseph is nothing different to that of John Heath, Sherif
Hanna, Sean O'Neal, Linda Jones, Stanley Oberst, Brian Petersen, Trevor
Cajiao, Ger Rijff, Andylon Lensen, Danny Kane, Kevan Budd, Luca, Lee Cotton,
John Singleton, Knox Phillips, dozens of newspaper men and women, the people
at EPE, and the hundreds of people who have volunteered their stories and
pictures for the project (I'm sorry if I left someone out).

All of these people decided to be part of the project. Others decided not to
be - they all have their own good reasons.

First of all the FTD project is a book. It's meant to be factually as
correct as possible. It will be stories told by the people who were there.
It will have hundreds of photos - many rare and unpublished. The idea is to
collect all we know about those first 18 months in one place.

Secondly it's CD'es - in great sound. There will be previously unreleased
material on the set, a few outtakes, and some live performances, but
different to Joseph we have no exceptional rarity to tease you with.

Presley great friends with Nic Cage.

Rocker Lisa Marie Presley and ex-husband Nicolas Cage have become the best
of friends after looking at their disastrous 180-day marriage from a
distance. The couple split in 2004 after a lover's tiff, leaving friends and
fans convinced they'd always hate each other, but Presley insists nothing
could be further from the truth. She says, "We were two pirates... You can't
have two pirates. "That was not a fun time for either of us. He did redeem
himself in the end and we did become very good friends after that and we're
better like that, and (now) he's happily married and has a baby coming now,
which is great. We're fine." Presley admits she should have known the
marriage was doomed because she couldn't see herself living happily ever
after with the movie star. She adds, "I had a bad, bad habit, which no one
else should have... where I didn't think like that. I was caught up in some
whirlwindy sort of romantic idea. "That's why I've made as many mistakes as
I have."

"Elvis Presley - Desert Storm: The Shattering Of A Myth!"

A new book entitled "Elvis Presley - Desert Storm: The Shattering Of A
Myth!" written by Darrin Lee is scheduled for release on April 25th, 2005.
This A5 format softcover book will have 225 pages and feature two of Keith
Alverson's never-before-seen photo-graphs from the Closing Show.

Chapters 1 - 3 of "Elvis Presley - Desert Storm: The Shattering Of A Myth!"
don't contain the words "Desert Storm" once. The first fifty pages of the
book are devoted to The 1974 "Elvis Summer Festival."

Fifty pages! In these information-packed chapters devoted to the 2 week
engagement that opened up on August 19th and closed with a bang on September
2nd, 1974, you will be given a crash course.

You'll learn about The Opening Night Set List and Show Framework Shakeup,
The Karate Dialogue, The Scarf or Lei Comedy Bit, and the list goes on and
on. It's ground breaking material in every respect.

The allocates nearly ten pages to detailing/analyzing Opening Night and the
mystery surrounding what happened. The f-bomb Elvis launches at a heckler is
covered and so is his controversial use of the n-word.

One of the book's key chapter is entitled, "Elvis' P. I. Investigates The
Paternity Suit." This chapter contains all germane details about John
O'Grady's involvement in the paternity suit that accused Elvis Presley of
fathering a son in 1970.

Darrin Lee has taken reference from dozens of court documents in writing the
definitive account of Pat Parker's paternity suit. Elvis didn't even scratch
the surface of the legal maneuvering that took place. If you like Court TV,
then you're gonna love this chapter!

Movie magazine coverage of the paternity suit is an important component in
the forty page
dissertation on the subject.
It must be understood that back in the 1970's, for all intents and purposes,
it was left up to the
movie magazines to write about the lives of show business personalities.

Some of you will feel that what you learn about the paternity suit will be
worth the cost of the
book
The author has spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours on this
subject, but it's very important for the fans to know the seriousness of the
legal battle Elvis faced
from 1970 - 1974.

The book also tackles the subject of Elvis and Priscilla's divorce in a big
way and has struck gold. An entire chapter is devoted to it and rare
pictures were uncovered in the process.

As you know, Mike Stone's name came up during The Priscilla Dialogue. My
in-depth analysis will take you below the surface & reveal that conventional
wisdom is way off base.

Presley dishes about marriage to Jackson.

Lisa Marie Presley aired her "Dirty Laundry" on "Oprah." In the first of a
two-part interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to promote her new album,
Presley spoke Monday about her brief marriage to Michael Jackson, who is on
trial in Santa Maria, Calif., on child molestation charges.

She told Winfrey that her marriage to Jackson, which lasted from 1994 to
1996, was real. "Do you think that he loved you as much as he could?" the
talk-show host asked.
"Yes, as much as he was capable of loving somebody," Presley replied. (They
famously opened the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards by exchanging a long kiss.)

In a "PrimeTime Live" interview with the couple in 1995, Presley told ABC's
Diane Sawyer that anyone who questioned their relationship could "Eat it!"
When Winfrey asked if she felt that Jackson had used her, Presley replied,
"All signs point to `yes' on that.

I can't answer for him." Presley, the daughter of Elvis, claimed she was
uncomfortable talking about Jackson, at one point exclaiming: "This seat is
hot!" The 37-year-old singer made similar comments about her former husband
while promoting her 2003 debut album, describing the relationship to The
Associated Press as more "toxic" than her other relationships.

Then, she told the AP: "I don't want to bash him. I don't hate him, I don't
have any of that going on."

Marilyn Manson and Elvis.

Citing Marilyn Manson's history of "violence, drug abuse and civil
disorder," Congressman Dick Armey (R-Tx.) has asked promoters to reconsider
allowing the musician to perform in Dallas's Reunion Arena on March 23.
Despite this letter--in which Armey, the powerful House majority leader,
describes himself as a concerned "father of five"--the show will go on. Hail
Satan! (2 pages) The Armey missive reminds The Smoking Gun of a hilarious
letter written 43 years ago to FBI boss J. Edgar Hoover regarding another
threat to the republic. A Wisconsin Bible-thumper was so enraged by Elvis
Presley's perverted concert antics that he branded the singer "a definite
danger to the security of the United States." Impressionable girls, the man
noted, were Presley's most helpless victims.

The Year the Music Changed.

Release date September 2005.
Novel, 225 pages Author Diane Coutler Thomas (ISBN 1592641229)  at Tobi
Press.Com

"It is 1955. Achsa is a lonely, passionate and precocious fourteen-year-old,
isolated at school by her intelligence and disfigurement, troubled at home
by the undercurrents in her parents' relationship. She finds comfort and
inspiration in the tunes and rhythms she hears on her radio. Hearing a
recording by an unknown 20-year-old country singer named Elvis Presley, she
fires off a fan letter, telling him she knows he's going to be a star.

Insecure in the world he is entering, passionate about music and burning
with a desire to succeed, Elvis answers her and enlists her help in teaching
him how to "talk good." The intimate, touching correspondence that follows
chronicles Achsa and Elvis' coming of age as artists and individuals. Able
to confide in nobody else, they share with each other their most private
dreams and fears. Elvis becomes Achsa's sounding board as she watches her
beautiful, distant mother and her sternly religious father lurch toward
tragedy, confronts her own scarred mouth, and faces a shattering loss. The
young singer's responses reveal his fierce, aching innocence in the year
before his star burst forth and offers a fascinating glimpse into the
grassroots history of rock and roll.

"inappropriate" gifts that her estranged husband, Elvis had given to his
daughter LISA MARIE, so that people wouldn't poke fun at the youngster.

The German-born socialite used to upset her daughter time and time again by
taking away gifts her father had bought her - because as she states "they
weren't the kind of things a little girl should have".

Presley recalls, "He gave her a fur coat that was a mink coat and she
brought it home. I think he gave it to her for her birthday and I said, 'You're not
wearing this.
This is not for you. You're five years old.' She went on; "I called him up
and I said, 'What are you doing?' It was just too much.

The Kings Ex-Wife says that she only did it to protect her daughter, "Even
though a child doesn't put a lot on it, others put a lot on it. The comments from
other people: 'Oh my God, she has this, she has that,' that really bothered me".

On one occasion, Elvis gave his precious little girl a precious gift, "He
gave her a little diamond ring one time when she was about six-years-old. I  take that
away".

Priscilla and Lisa Marie appeared  together for their first TV interview on
yesterday's (29th MAR 2005) OPRAH show in America.

GER RIJFF ATTACKS THE UPCOMING SUN RELEASE.
(Read the complete article on Ep.Gold  March 20,2005, Hot E News)

NEW LABEL 'MEMPHIS RECORDING SERVICE' TO RELEASE SUN BOX SET.

Joseph Pirzada:

Please note that I have not yet made any statement pertaining to the
'MEMPHIS RECORDING SERVICE' project.

Any news regarding this will be seen on the relevant Elvis news sites, that
says the information is sourced from myself.

As for Ger Rijff maybe he does not know that both names he mentioned in
another thread (Sherriff Hanna - Stanley Oberst) are very very close friends
of mine (long beofre the MRS project was undertaken) and they were never
contacted by any party as I spoke to them yesterday.

They have no interest in being dragged into the Elvis politics.

I dont want to sink to his level on the site (Fecc-Messageboard)) and call
him a liar since he is not the one pulling the strings on his childish and
unproffesional statements.

When the project comes out, all can see the list of contributors to this
project and do all the investigating they want.

ANOTHER ELVIS PLAY
Hopeful writer plans ultimate play

Elvis plays seem to be like buses, you wait forever and then several turn up
at once.

We already have 'Jailhouse Rock', 'All Shook Up' and 'Elvis, Lennon & JFK'
which are currently on the theatre stages in the UK and America.

Then we have the wonderful potential of 'The Memphis Lullaby' and another
play which we are banned from telling you about (and no, its not a banning
order from EPE).

Now we have another.....The play is not yet finished and he has yet to start
the long task of finding the funding needed but the writer is looking to produce
what he says will be the 'ultimate' play on Elvis Presley's life.

The writer who wishes to remain anonymous at this time said this; "I have
been researching Elvis' life for 7 years in order to try and get the full picture
of his life and career. The play will mainly focus on the musical side of the kings life
but will include all the key moments in his personal life as well."

We will bring you more detailed information on the play which is tentatively
titled "ELVIS - A MUSICAL JOURNEY" when we get it.

simply nods and says "yeah" when Winfrey asks her to confirm the rumours
about the end of her short marriage. She then tells the host, "I was upset,

Elvis rules in Dubai.

For Americans, Elvis Presley holds a special place in their cultural hearts.
It was not surprising therefore that any link, no matter how tenuous, to the
King captivates the American media as became evident after Elvstroem won the
Dubai Duty Free. But, as Nash Rawiller discovered there was an air of
mystique surrounding this latest 'Elvis' wanna be. "Is it you they call
Elvis?" one television interviewer asked a gobsmacked Rawiller, who
laughingly reassured the woman he was not. Like all good jockeys he didn't
miss the opening. "But, Elvis showed tonight he can still rock and roll,"
Rawiller said. For the 30-year-old Rawiller, who copped a roasting for his
ride on Elvstroem in the Australian Cup a fortnight earlier, the Dubai Duty
Free stood out like a Vegas Elvis impersonator as a career high. Asked how
winning the $2.5 million Dubai Duty Free rated in 15 years plying his trade
as heavyweight jockey, Rawiller replied: "It was like winning the Melbourne
Cup".

Don't be cruel? Elvis is slighted.

It takes only the opening number of All Shook Up to come to the pained
conclusion that Elvis is no longer in the building, which is the Palace
Theatre. The song is "Love Me Tender," and in the new musical untimely
ripped from the King's legacy, it's offered by a hopeful young woman who has
yet even to meet the man who will love her, tenderly or otherwise.

The disconnect continues with a treatment of "Heartbreak Hotel" done by a
chorus of drinkers in a bar who join in unison preposterously to complain,
"I feel so lonely I could die." And so it goes in All Shook Up, a show to
make any Presley purist feel like a blue suede shoe that has just been
stepped on. It is damning with the faintest of praise to say that All Shook
Up is not the worst of the songbook musicals. There are strong voices in the
cast and some weird fascination offered by Joe DiPietro's book. DiPietro,
who is best known for I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, is obviously
aware of the many pitfalls that await writers within this dubious genre.
His solution is a plot that combines elements of Twelfth Night and a host of
other Shakespearean references with the teen rebellions beloved of
rock-and-roll movies of the '50s. This focuses the show in the era when
Elvis did his groundbreaking work and keeps the image of the obese Vegas
caricature at a welcome distance.

The Elvis figure in the proceedings is Chad (Cheyenne Jackson), a wanderer
who arrives in a pelvically challenged rural town with his motorbike and
pompadour both carefully oiled. It is Chad's mission to teach the town to
boogie; he is, of course, opposed by hidebound conservatives led by the
mayor (Alix Korey), who doesn't want the local youth corrupted. The
principal romantic triangle involves Natalie (Jennifer Gambatese), the local
mechanic who admires more than Chad's bike.

In the evening's dopiest development, her rival for the sideburned
roustabout is the knockout blonde who runs the local museum, housed in a
trailer. No fewer than 26 Elvis songs are jammed into Natalie's pursuit of
Chad (she disguises herself as a man and becomes his best buddy) and the
other entanglements of lovers. Whenever desire overtakes a character, he or
she erupts into a comic outburst of "One Night With You."

One of the show's problems is that it tries to put a humorous spin on
original Elvis material that was utterly serious in its expressions of
yearning and vulnerability. It would be too much to expect director
Christopher Ashley to invest any of this with coherence, but he at least
encourages a lighthearted approach.

All Shook Up is a show for an undemanding mainstream Broadway audience.
Shaken Elvis loyalists, who cherish what their man brought to every lyric,
will think that only fools could fall in love with it, that All Shook Up
should be interred in a quiet corner of Graceland.

All Shook Up Directed by Christopher Ashley, written by Joe DiPietro.

Starring Cheyenne Jackson and Jennifer Gambatese.

Playing at: Palace Theatre, 1564 Broadway (at 46th Street), New York.

Tickets: $19.55 to $100. Information: 215-336-2000 or www.ticketmaster.com.

Elvis Presley died nearly 30 years ago.but death isn't hurting his career.
For example, a new show featuring Presley has just opened on Broadway at the
Palace Theater. There's a new CBS mini-series coming in May. And Lisa Marie
Presley is just about to to release her second CD. Yesterday on Soundcheck
(WNYC radio, New York), critic Anthony DeCurtis dropped by to spend an hour
with us, debating the achievements and the legacy of the King of Rock and
Roll. Wel talked about how Presley appropriated black music, hear how his
work continues to influence young performers today, and took your calls.

BOOTLEG RIP-OFF WARNING.

We would like to warn fans about a bootleg out on the market which is
titled "I Couldn't Live Without You" released on the Snowy Label.

The tracks on this CD have been ripped off by the makers from the
excellent audio website from Keith Flynn and are ALL available from his
site FREE for your enjoyment.

Keith contacted the Elvisinfonet site and said; "Can you believe someone
has made a Bootleg CD of songs from my web site, and actually think
they are real 'Takes'? I mean, come on, who actually thinks Elvis did a
vocal overdub for the song 'Angel'? or the Stereo Master for 'A Whistling
Tune' has been found! I made them myself for God's sake!"

Because the tracks have been downloaded from Keith' site, they are in
poor sounding MP3 samples and are not in the great sound quality that
he owns in his personal collection.

The Tracklisting:
01 - Mystery Train (new backing by Jamie Aaron Kelley)

18 - I'm Leaving It Up To You (live)
19 - The First Time Ever I Held You Close (live)

Keith went on to say. "This sort of thing really pi**es me off as all I want
to do is let fans hear (and see) what is in peoples private collections, but if
this is going to happen, then I will have to close my site."

We hope that no-one is duped into buying this release but more important, we
say this to Keith. "Don't close your superb site, It is righly thought of by
Elvis fans around the world!"

If you have yet to visit Keith' site then get there and enjoy.

The point, of course, was that artistry celebrated in one style or genre
doesn't necessarily translate to another.
I suspect this joke, however obvious, would have been lost on the producers,
casting agents and
others involved in the new Elvis Presley homage All Shook Up, the latest
professional karaoke contest to masquerade as a Broadway musical.

Say what you will about Mamma Mia! and Good Vibrations, two other greatest-
hits showcases designed to tap into the growing nostalgia and burgeoning
bank accounts of aging pop fans. However off-putting their opportunism and lack
of imagination, both at least aimed for musical authenticity, drawing on the
expertise of insiders such as ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson and
Brian Wilson colleague Van Dyke Parks, and enlisting performers with a
passing affinity for rock 'n' roll textures.

In contrast, most of the game young cast members of All Shook Up, which
opened Thursday at the Palace Theatre, sing and act as if they just stepped
off a Marvin Hamlisch tribute tour.

There are some pretty and potent voices here, to be sure; but their approach
to the material tends to range from painfully self-conscious to outright clueless.

The calculated growls and mannered sneers that sometimes embellish golden
oldies such as Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel and That's All Right only add to
the false, sterile feel of the numbers.

Joe DiPietro's book is even more tone-deaf. The plot, an unlikely and
idiotic hybrid of Grease, Footloose and Twelfth Night, involves a tomboyish mechanic
who falls for a guitar-wielding, hip-swiveling, motorcycle-riding drifter with long
black sideburns.

Tall, dark and hammy, Cheyenne Jackson plays the Elvis-like leading man with
all the sincerity of a Chippendale dancer trying to bilk a drunk matron.
Even at his most kitschy, Presley projected a certain earnestness; irony was the
last quality you would associate with him.

Yet like many contemporary shows that have nothing new or interesting to
say, All Shook Up revels in winking jokes and self-reference - even as it makes
lame attempts to touch on issues such as racism and homophobia. Cutting
social satire is provided by way of a female mayor, played with cartoonish
haughtiness by Alix Korey, who runs around lecturing everyone on moral
decency.

Which Elvis fans, you may ask, will want to witness this strange marriage of
snark and schlock?

Some of the same ones, I suspect, who were drawn to Las Vegas toward the
end of his life - not to catch a glimpse of his former glory, or even to
mourn its loss, but to celebrate the same triumph of excess over substance that, come to
think of it, has increasingly characterized Broadway musicals in the decades
since.

In one number, If I Can Dream, "angels" emerge on motorbikes suspended in
midair by wires, sporting shiny suits and pouffy white wings.

The person accompanying me remarked that it was a horrible thing to do to
that song.

And to all the others, he should have added.

This Just In...From CBS Entertainment - Behind the Scenes with "Elvis"
Mini-Series.

Following is the second installment of a fun series of regular features from
CBS Entertainment with inside scoop from the production of the new
mini-series "Elvis":

How do you accurately make a film about a legendary performer whose life
story has been well-documented both on film and in print? When Elvis
impersonators abound, who do you cast so that the legend comes alive but is
not a parody? Those are questions that producers asked themselves when they
decided to make a mini-series about Elvis Presley.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers ("Bend It Like Beckham") stars as Elvis Presley, Emmy
and Golden Globe Award winner Camryn Manheim ("The Practice") stars as
Gladys Presley, Golden Globe Award winner Randy Quaid ("LBJ: The Early
Years") stars as "Colonel" Tom Parker and Rose McGowan ("Charmed") stars as
Ann-Margret.

Robert Greenblatt, David Janollari and Howard Braunstein are the executive
producers who contacted the Elvis Presley Estate prior to going ahead with
the project to talk about making a mini-series. "While we were interested in
doing the film, we felt that with such an iconic figure [as Elvis Presley],
we didn't want to move forward without the blessing of the Presley family
and the estate," said Braunstein. "Once they agreed to cooperate with us,
they also opened up their archives so that we could really show Elvis in a
way that hadn't been seen before."

"In the mini-series, we see Elvis between the ages of 18 and 33 and we learn
about his upbringing -- how poor he was," Braunstein continued. "We see his
musical influences, watch his rise to fame and get insight into his
relationships with the key people in his life including his mother, Gladys,
his manager Colonel Tom Parker, Ann-Margret and Priscilla."

One more piece fell into place that had never before happened in an Elvis
movie. "We were able to convince the Estate to let us use actual master
recordings of his [Elvis'] music," said Braunstein. "So every time you hear
an Elvis song, you are actually listening to an Elvis recording."

Next, they set out to find the right actor to play the legendary Presley.
"We did a world-wide casting call," said director James Sadwith. "We saw
actors in Los Angeles and New York as well as Canada, Australia, New
Zealand, Ireland and England." An open casting call was held in Los Angeles
where Elvis wannabes, including a number of bona fied Elvis impersonators,
lined up around the block.

But, from the very beginning, there was one actor who they felt was right.
"We liked Jonathan Rhys-Meyers from the start, but he wasn't interested
originally so we moved on," said Sadwith. As they went through the process
there was another person who came very close. "He was one of 11 children
born to a traveling tent preacher. All of the kids played musical
instruments and the father had told them that they were born to carry on
Elvis' work. He came very close but ultimately backed out because he really
wanted to be a preacher himself and felt that his congregation wouldn't take
him seriously if he had been an actor reading lines and doing love scenes."

Finally, casting director Mary Jo Slater went to England to meet with
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and convinced him to read the script and then to take
the part. Sadwith said: "So we got the very first person ever mentioned to
do the mini-series. It was really great!"

Elvis's Hair Helps Sell Classic Muscle Cars.

Northern Illinois Classic Auto Brokers, Ltd. and Classicmusclecars.com
announced today that their rock and roll memorabilia collection has acquired
Elvis Presley's authentic hair. Presley's hair and other memorabilia can be
viewed online at classicmusclecars.com, along with the documentation of
providence on video. Presley's hair will join other memorabilia including, a
rare 36 diamond TCB ring, a leather jacket worn by Presley around Graceland,
a guitar given to John Wayne signed by Presley for a birthday present and
many records, pictures and other miscellaneous collectibles at
Classicmusclecars.com's showroom. "Elvis was not only a rock and roller, he
was a car guy too. He loved beautiful cars and loved to buy them. He also
gave away many of the cars that he owned, which showed great generosity and
kindness from a once poor southern boy who became the most famous
entertainer of our time. Although people may feel a little uncomfortable
with the fact that we have acquired some of Elvis's real hair, I feel it
brings him even closer to help us with the success of selling classic muscle
cars. It brings out that good feeling to people when they buy classic muscle
cars just like the good feeling they get when they listen to Elvis's music.
He is still with us everyday at our showrooms at classicmusclecars.com,"
said Tony Begley, owner and founder of Northern Illinois Classic Auto
Brokers and Classicmusclecars.com.

The house at 501 Elvis Presley Drive, has just been sold for 325.000 dollar
on eBay. The construction from 1977 offers a perfect view on the birth house
of Elvis. It's still uncertain if the new owner wants to transform it into a
museum, bed & breakfast house, gift shop or Elvis bar but the necessary
documents have been delivered. An averaged of 100.00 fans makes this the
most visited landmark in the state of Mississippi. For those that join the

Elvis Documentary.

Hi Everyone,

I am so happy to be able to announce that we are getting ready to do our
last set of trips to interview people for our 13-hour Elvis documentary.

We have already interviewed over 600 people for the film and it has truly
been a wonderful experience. We are also speaking to both the Las Vegas
Hilton and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame about hosting the World Premier of
the film early in 2006 and of course, all those who we interview will be
invited to a huge party there.

The interviews are great fun and just this past weekend we were up in
Baltimore for the premier of my documentary "Snow Angeles" and picked up
interviews with both Bob Grimm from the Four Seasons and Beatle George
Harrison's family.

In April I will be traveling to do interviews there and then between April
and July I'll be in CA, GA, FL, MD, CT, NY and Virginia for other events I'm
doing and will pick up interviews in each of those places in the process.

The interviews take about 30 minutes, although they can take as long as you
like and, of course, we'll come to you. If you would like to be interviewed
(especially for our first and last trip to Nashville,) and/or know of
someone who might, please get back to me as soon as possible.

The film is currently being edited and those who've seen clips of it feel
it's the best thing that's ever been done on the King.

I look forward to hearing from you and thanks again.

O Rei de Las Vegas (King of Las Vegas)

The bazilian fan club Elvis Presley's Wolrd Fan Club released in February,
the first book of the collection Essential para fãs (Essential to fans).
This collection of 3 books will be released yearly until 2007 and it will
comprise all Elvis' career. The first volume's title is O Rei de Las Vegas
(King of Las Vegas). The book is written by Waldenir Cecon, it has 240 pages
and it's all written in Portuguese.

Design
This books's cover is appelative with an Elvis' picture on stage over Las
Vegas. Back cover has several Elvis' pictures on stage too. Inside we can
find several Elvis photos (none new) and cd covers (official and imported
ones) with Elvis' concerts in Las Vegas. All pictures are in black and white
and, to me, the only negative point in this book is the picture's quality
which isn't the best.

Content
The book starts with some brief autor notes to help the reader and to reveal
what the next two books will include. O Rei de Las Vegas has 16 chapters,
one for each of the 15 Elvis' seasons in Las Vegas between 1969 and 1976 and
another one for the Lake Tahoe seasons. Each chapter is named after the song
the author thinks marked the season. Each chapter starts with a little text
and some pictures of the season. Then we have the complete list of each
concert of the season, with its date, the kind of concert (opening, closing,
dinner or midnight) and - when possible - the list of the songs Elvis sang.
Then we have testimonials from fans who were there, the images that were
made (by fans or not), official and imported cd's with the concerts (along
with the picture of the cover) and the songs they include. To finish the
chapter, there's a list of all songs Elvis sang during the season (even if
he sang only one line), the jumpsuits, the musicians, the number of concerts
and the number of fans in the audience. Lake Taho's chapter has a text about
each season there between 1971 and 1976 and the list of the official and
imported cd's, along with their covers and the songs included.

Conclusion
This small book (19x12,5 cm) is a in fact, a big book. It's very complete,
with lots of information and very easy to look for information. Finally,
there is a book written in Portuguese with all the information about Elvis'
seasons in Las Vegas. To all the fans who cannot read English and to the
fans who want all the information in the same volume, this is the ideal
book.

This book has only 500 copies.

U.K. Physical and Digital Singles Sales Charts to Merge

The U.K. music industry has agreed in principle to merge the recently
launched digital singles sales chart with the traditional singles chart,
perhaps by early next year. The Official UK Charts Company reports that
sales of physical singles often dip below 400,000 each week while between
200,000 and 250,000 digital singles are sold each week from Internet
download services.

Sales of physical singles have been tracked in the U.K. for more than 50
years but sales have declined over the past several years. The top-selling
pop single for the week ended October 17th sold only 23,500 physical copies,
the lowest ever for a number one single. In 2003, sales of physical singles
in the U.K. declined 30 percen
