A Salute to Sgt. Presley and The Patton Museum .

On March 24, 2004 The Patton Museum of Calvary and Armor in Fort Knox,
Kentucky will open a new exhibit focusing on the years Elvis spent in the
U.S. Army, 1958-1960. Elvis's long-time friend and road/entourage manager
Joe Esposito, whom he met while stationed in Germany, is scheduled to be at
the 10:00 AM opening ceremony.

Through the cooperation and assistance of Graceland/EPE and its archives
staff, the exhibit will include photographs, video, official documents,
personal correspondence, and a set of army fatigues and an army overcoat
that belonged to Elvis. The exhibit will also feature a Jeep like the one
Elvis drove while stationed overseas. Elvis admired General Patton and was
fan of the movie Patton, starring George C.Scott, so we know he would be
especially happy to be honored with an exhibit at this museum.

The exhibit's opening ceremony will be open to the public, free admission.
The exhibit will remain at the Patton Museum until March 2005. Visit the
museum site for contact information, hours of operation and more. Admission
to the museum is free.

Elvis Inducted Into West Coast Blues Hall of Fame 2/27/2004.

Today, fans alerted us to regional news items about this. Tomorrow, Elvis is
being inducted into the Bay Area Blues Society's West Coast Blues Hall of
Fame. We're perplexed as to why no one at EPE received any notice of it by
the Blues Society and we're trying to find out more about that. We would
have helped them publicize it and promote ticket sales. We would have sent
someone to accept. We would have let all the Elvis fans know far in advance.
However, it's a wonderful surprise, such a fine and well-deserved honor for
our man, and we're thrilled and proud.

BMG/RCA TO RELEASE "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL" ON MARCH 23RD.

First-Ever Greatest Hits Gospel Album Features all of Elvis' Greatest
Inspirational Recordings

Elvis Presley is an entertainment legend whose influence on the music
industry is unsurpassed. While many people may at first associate Elvis with
rock music, some of Elvis' most profound influences, and his most popular
recordings, have been gospel music. More than 250 million Elvis gospel
recordings have been sold in the U.S. alone, but never before has there been
a greatest hits collection of these inspirational songs. On March 23rd, BMG
Strategic Marketing Group/RCA Music Group will release the single-disc Elvis
gospel compilation: "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL."

Growing up, religious music played a central role in Elvis' daily life. The
Presley family attended The First Assembly of God Church in small-town
Tupelo, Mississippi. When Elvis was just three or four years old, he would
walk up to the choir in the middle of church and start beating time. As a
teenager in Memphis, Elvis and his friends would sneak into churches in
primarily black neighborhoods just to listen to the music. The welcoming
congregations and stirring music inspired Elvis' appreciation of the
multiple facets of religious music. Elvis and his family were also fans of

the Grand Ole Opry, a syndicated Nashville radio broadcast with country
music stars who often included religious songs in their repertoire. Elvis
went on to record gospel albums himself, with his first, "How Great Thou
Art" winning Elvis his first Grammy Award. "How Great Thou Art" mesmerized
many fans who had never even heard gospel music. Elvis went on to win two
more Grammy Awards in his lifetime for his gospel efforts.

Scheduled for release on March 23, 2004, "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL," is one of
the most highly-anticipated CDs of the year. The long-overdue album is the
first-ever greatest hits single-disc Elvis gospel compilation from BMG, with
all of Elvis' greatest inspirational recordings. With more than an hour of
music on 24 tracks, this album is the ultimate collection of Elvis gospel
hits. "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL" provides testament to Elvis' musical
excellence and acknowledges the priceless contribution of the talented
songwriters, musicians and producers involved.

"The importance of gospel music in the life of Elvis Presley cannot be
overstated," said Joe DiMuro, Executive Vice President BMG Strategic
Marketing. "'ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL' is a fundamental, and long overdue,
addition to the Elvis catalog."

The 24 tracks on "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL" are Elvis' most inspirational
recordings. They include such timeless religious songs as "Amazing Grace,"
"Crying In The Chapel," "How Great Thou Art" and ""Peace In The Valley." All
of the tracks were mastered from original master tapes using DSD technology
to ensure optimum sound quality. The clean, elegant album cover features a
photograph of Elvis' famous profile, head bowed and eyes closed.

Elvis' musical contributions are unsurpassed: He is the only artist to be
inducted into all three music Halls of Fame, including Rock n' Roll, Country
and Gospel. He holds the record for most top 10 pop singles (40), the most
gold and platinum awards (148) and is the world's best selling artist,
having sold more records than any other artist in history. His popularity
remains intact to this day as there are more active Elvis Presley fan clubs
around the world than for any other artist - dead or alive.

The historic release of "ELVIS 30 #1 HITS" by BMG/RCA in 2002 not only
thrilled long-standing Elvis enthusiasts, but introduced millions of new
fans to the music of Elvis for the first time. In 2003, BMG/RCA followed up
the triple-platinum "#1"s with another, complementary compilation of hits,
"ELVIS 2ND TO NONE," which has already been certified platinum. "ELVIS 2ND
TO NONE" presented an even broader range of Elvis' talents and incorporated

multiple musical genres including R&B, rock 'n roll, pop, country, dance and
rockabilly. Now, "ELVIS ULTIMATE GOSPEL" will be a true testament to the
musical legend's incredible breadth of work.

She loved him tender
By Judy Fruchter Minkove
Special to Deep South Jewish Voice
She was a reporter's dream, a guaranteed great story.

Her compelling tales about Elvis riveted listeners. But they werenケt merely
tales. They were powerful anecdotes about a young man's character, and my
mother, Jeannette Fruchter, was determined to set the record straight,
especially on the anniversary of Elvis' birth. He would have been 69 on Jan.
8.

She simply couldn't bear to hear the stories about the aging Elvis'
excesses. Repeatedly she would tell reporters, "He was the finest boy you'd
ever want to know." But this will be the first year she won't be interviewed
about Elvis. My mom died on Aug. 28, 2003, just two days after the 26th
anniversary of Elvis' death (my father, Rabbi Alfred Fruchter, died nine
years ago).

As we went through my mother's belongings - among them countless articles
and book excerpts about Elvis' humble beginnings ・we stumbled on an
unpublished photo. It shows Elvis at around age 18 on the porch of our home
with my sister Debbie, my brother David and Elvis' cousin, whose name we
can't recall. In the early 1950s, my family shared a Memphis duplex at 462
Alabama Ave. The Presleys rented the small flat downstairs; we lived
upstairs.

My parents knew Elvis when he was a teenager, between ages 15 and 18. During
those years my newlywed parents were struggling to make ends meet as our
family grew. The Presleys were even poorer than we were. My father was the
Orthodox rabbi for a small congregation and later founded and became
principal of the Memphis Hebrew Academy. During the day, my mother would
share coffee with Gladys Presley. Gladys confessed her worries about her
son. "She wanted him to give up his singing career to become a doctor," my
mother said, "but I told her she shouldnケt worry. One day he would make her
proud, no matter what career he chose."

My mother would remind Gladys that Elvis was such a good boy. He worked at
Crown Gas after school and every Friday would cash his paycheck and turn it
right over to his mother. And whenever my mother would come home from the
grocery store, Elvis would run out to help her with the packages and bring
them upstairs for her.

"He was so respectful, too," Mom would say. He used to call my father "Sir
Rabbi." In our house, Elvis was a "Shabbos goy," the gentile who would turn
on lights for us on Friday night or Saturday. Despite numerous offers for
compensation, Elvis refused to take any money for those services. He also
accompanied his family to church every Sunday, dressed in his finest
threads.

Handsome young Elvis would frequently pull out his guitar and serenade girls
on the porch swing. My mother told us he was always a clotheshorse and had
been setting aside money for a pair of onyx cufflinks he saw at a jewelry
store. My mother surprised Elvis and bought them for him as a high school
graduation gift. My parents also allowed Elvis the frequent use of our
record player (the Presleys didnケt own one), helped with paying the
Presleys' water bill and invited them for meals at our home - and in our
sukkah each fall.

The warm friendship between the two families continued through early 1955,
when we moved to California. I was a newborn, making me the fourth Fruchter
child. My father's meager salary could no longer support all of us. The
synagogue was struggling too, so he accepted a position in Oakland. Not long
after that my parents saw a headline in the local paper, "Elvis Surrounded
by Thousands of Girls." My father looked at my mother and asked, "Do you
think it's the same Elvis?"

Indeed it was. My father called George Klein, Elvis' agent, who had
celebrated his bar mitzvah in my father's synagogue, to see about a ticket
to a show. Backstage on concert night, Elvis greeted my father with open
arms and made a big fuss over him. My mother, unfortunately, couldn't get a
sitter that night and stayed home.

That would be the last time Elvis and my family would see each other. But
the press remained fascinated with Elvis' humble beginnings and sought out
biographical nuggets. Years later we learned that Elvis made generous
contributions to Memphis Jewish charities because he recalled a Jewish
family that had helped his family out when he was younger.

My mother was convinced that Elvis turned to drugs because his mother died
so young and the two had been extremely close. Mother and son died at the
same age - 42. When my mom heard the news on that sad August day, she was
inconsolable. She spoke not as a disillusioned fan but as an old friend: "He
was one of the biggest mensches I've ever known."

May all these good people rest in peace

Ernst Jorgensen And Andylon Lensen  "Discussing The facts"  Part 2.

For The Upcoming New Releases From RCA/ BMG, FTD, And FTD Special Editions.

A New Remix - Single This Year, Ernst?

Mind you, we haven''t discussed this or decided it yet.
It might still happen this year If the right Dj. comes along with the right
concept and remix on a Elvis song that has  the marketing and commercial
value..sure than  we are open for this concept.

A Following Up For the 2nd To None Album?

No, I think this rumour on E3 Album was,  when I made a joke on a interview
I did with an American Radio Stration , mention it was easy for me to
compile another 30 songs for the next album as a following up for the 2nd to
none Album and they took this serious.
Second To none didn't sell that well as the E1 Album, it was Triple Platinum
and E2 only 1 time Platinum.

And  what about a new 4 CD -Set like last years "Close Up"?

No, for the same reason, Andylon.
It did not sell as the "Today Tomorrow And Forever" Box-Set.
So, it has no commercial value to release another 4 CD Box-Set this year.

Mmmm, why do I feel a bit sad, now I have a feeling not much is going to
happen to promote Elvis
this year....
Maybe we got used to it,  as a ritual?
The last couple of years we got used and maybe too spoiled  to the same
concepts.
E1 - Remix-Single -- 4 CD Box-set ... lot's of promotion and  at the same
time with a video-clip.
Oh,well.

I understand what you mean Andylon, but we do get soon the Ultimate Gospel
CD released.

Yeah nice, but not for us Elvis-Fans.
We see this as just another compilation CD.

I understand, sure... but this will be a big marketing and promotion for
Elvis's Gospel Music and we will bring this to the attention to everyone on
this planet how good he was on this type of music.
This could easily sell a half to one million copies.
And Late June this year The RCA/BMG will release the CD Entitled : Elvis At
Sun. ( 19 tracks )

Elvis At Sun?
Is that it?, I mean that's the title?  what a original title... who could
ever think of such a original title? lol.
Oh,well maybe I am a bit too cynical about this.

Can you give me  some more information on the content for this release,
Ernst?

I can tell you that more than half of the songs are improved in a better
quality of sound.
And for the 1st time "Harbour Lights" will be heard just the way it was
recorded (no reverb)

Any other information like a new finding like a Sun Acetate? lol

No, new findings on a  new acetates from Sun that will be on this CD.

Really?
Maybe next year when your book on FTD will be issued along with a 3 or 4
CD-set?

To tell you the thruth, Andylon till now we haven't surfaced any new
recording on Sun.

Well, I heard from a reliable source there are two new acetates found and
that it might be available for the future..are you sure you do not know
anything about this, Ernst?  lol.

There are many people claiming they have something special  and at the end
it is not true or it is fake or a bogus acetate.
I even had the oppurtunity to listen to Mystery Train from the Sun Recording
in STEREO, and I must admit it sounded really great and proffesional.

Sometimes we joke around Andylon, like "hey I found myself  a 3rd acetate on
Sun"... "Yeah, I got me the 6th one surfaced"...lol

Now serious Ernst, sometimes you also can fool around, so I am not certain
about this,  I will check my source again and come back to you on this.
You sometimes are also full of suprises ,like all the new stuff we can
exspect on the FTD label,
I personally looking forward to it, especially your book and the 3 or 4
CD-Set on Sun Material...
Get the picture Ernst....lol

Now I am going to ask you something al the fans are dying to know.
Since the FTD Jungle Room CD release is the most favorite of all time in the
Elvis World, do we get a Volume 2 in the near future?
And how many songs are there left in the vaults?

Let me see in the computer,  how many songs we have left in our vaults ....
we got exactly eight songs left to release, Andylon.

Am I allowed to tell what songs they are?

Naaaa, let's keep it a suprise, but we will release this combined with other
material on RCA/BMG or FTD label... that's for sure.

This is great news, I personally can't wait for the rest of  Jungle Room
Session recordings.

Are there any other Home-Recordings left in the vaults from the
50's-60's-70''s?

I think we have some left, Andylon.

What about the German Home-Recordings?
I think we have 10-15 minutes left on this.

Wasn't there a third tape of the German Home-Recordings, Ernst?

Yes, but this seems to be lost.

Any other titles you are able to mention on Home-Recordings?

You ask a lot of questions that I normally do or can not answer, Andylon.

What the heck, Ernst I just wanne' know... I am addicted to Elvis....lol

Okay,  just a few to mention for example there is a  "Are You Lonesome
Tonight" ,"How I Love Jesus" and "What now My Love" as a  Home-Recordings we
are able to release.

What about the song "Cool Water"?
Yes, we examened this tape and the result was..... it was't Elvis
singing........

Elvis's Granddaughter To Rock The Catwalk.

Will The Pelvis be reborn on the catwalk when Elvis Presley's granddaughter
debuts as a model for Dolce & Gabbana's latest trend-setting fashions this
week?

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the only designers who regularly command
supermodels like Naomi Campbell to show their figure-hugging designs, plan
to open both their Milan fashion week shows with Riley Keough, daughter of
Lisa Marie Presley.

"With her mother's beauty and her grandfather's attitude, she is sure to be
a star," said the design duo, whose studded jeans often boast as many
rhinestones as an Elvis jumpsuit.

It remains to be seen whether Keough will sashay around in blue suede shoes
or convince buyers viewing the autumn/winter 2004 collections to say: "I
want you, I need you, I love you."

Les Gray, lead singer of Mud, has died of throat cancer at 57.

Mud had a number of big hits in the 70's with Les Gray basing his vocal
style very much on Elvis for a number of them - "The Secrets That You Keep"
and "Lonely This Christmas" being the most obviously Elvis influenced.

Elvis Is The UK's Third Ultimate Pop Star.

His music may divide the nation, but the substantial sales of his hundreds
of records have secured the Peter Pan of pop, Sir Cliff Richard, another,
superlative accolade, that of UK Ultimate Pop Star.

The veteran pop singer with 20,969,006 UK sales pipped The Beatles
(20,799,632) and Elvis Presley (19,293,118), to the title, as the biggest
selling artist of the last 50 years.

Last night's Channel 4 show, The Ultimate Pop Star, crowned Madonna the top
female artist, coming in at number four in the list, and the only female in
the top ten Ultimate Pop Stars. The show counted down the definitive list of
the 50 biggest-selling artists of all time, based on UK singles sales from

Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D.J. Fontana - The First Rock 'n' Roll Band

Two guitars + bass + drums = rock 'n' roll.

That's been rock's fundamental equation for half a century, first proven in
the Sun testing labs at 706 Union Ave. Elvis provided the rhythm guitar, but
even he couldn't do it alone. As luck - and Sam Phillips -- would have it,
exactly the right men were at exactly the right place at exactly the right
time to change everything.

First came guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black. Memphis Recording
Service owner Sam Phillips had enlisted those local boys from the Memphis
honky tonk outfit Doug Poindexter & the Starlite Wranglers. Phillips had
befriended Scotty when he recorded that country band for his Sun label. He
figured the two slightly older, more seasoned musicians could bring some
discipline to his promising, but very green, discovery.

At first, Scotty and Bill were put off by Elvis' flashy clothes, straight
out of Lansky Bros., Beale Street's premier clothier. But they both liked
what they heard. "He had a good voice," Scotty remembers. "It was a young
voice, he was only 18, 19 years old. And he had uncanny rhythm in his voice
and what little guitar he played at the time."

There wasn't much reason to think that any of those three young men would be
reinventing American music. Back then, country guitarists cobbled together
their styles, a little Merle Travis here, a bit of Les Paul there, some Chet
Atkins licks, a little Billy Byrd backup; and, if they were adventurous like
Scotty, maybe a B.B. King string bend. Bass players in country bands in
those days were barely considered musicians at all. They usually doubled as
roadies, drivers and comic relief, often performing in greasepaint makeup
and exaggerated hillbilly garb.

But that was one of the miracles of those early Sun sessions. It wasn't
merely that Elvis suddenly exploded out of a Dean Martin-style crooner into
a rock 'n' roll wildman, but that Scotty and Bill were right there with him
every step of the way.

Scotty Moore melded all the guitarists he'd been studying into one big
sound, whipping his big-bodied Gibson electric with a combination of lead
and rhythm licks that made him seem like more than one musician. The flashy,
gold-topped Gibson ES-295 he played back then became the rockabilly guitar.
Bill Black had indeed played the clown in his country band, but at Sun, his
showmanship and outgoing personality brought a relaxed, party atmosphere to
the session, and he slapped his bass so hard that no drums were needed. In
addition, Scotty recalls that it was Bill who came up with "Blue Moon of
Kentucky."

Elvis of course, discovered ELVIS!, and together, with Sam Phillips at the
controls, the three launched themselves into uncharted territory, fusing
country and blues traditions into sonic rocket fuel, creating a sound so
powerful that, even 50 years later, it still gets hormones percolating.

When Elvis, Scotty & Bill's Sun record of "That's All Right"/"Blue Moon of
Kentucky" hit the Memphis airwaves, it was the opening shot heard round the
world for the rock 'n' roll revolution. They had created something brand new
from Arthur Crudup's Delta blues and Bill Monroe's bluegrass waltz.

They were soon touring the Southern circuit and, while playing the Louisiana
Hayride radio show in Shreveport, they met a young drummer named Dominic
Joseph Fontana. D.J. was the Hayride's house drummer, but in those days, the
country music establishment treated drummers even worse than bass players.
On the Hayride, D.J. had to play behind a curtain so as not to offend the
purists.

"Way back then, the country acts just absolutely did not like drums," D.J.
recalls. "It wasn't so bad. It was a sheer curtain, you could kind of see
through it." But the 19-year-old was ready to step into the spotlight. The
trio had tried other drummers, but D.J. was the first to really fit their
new sound.

It was easy, he explains. "I thought, 'It sounds so good, I'm just gonna get
out of the way and stay out of the way'."

He stayed out of the way so well that, within a few months, he'd been added
to the payroll (Elvis Scotty & Bill were then partners, splitting the money
50-25-25; Scotty was also doubling as the group's manager). They chipped in
to make D.J.'s salary, and drummer in place, the first great rock 'n' roll
band was ready to hit the road.

This was the group that stoked the mass hysteria, the screaming fans, the
Presley-mania that birthed the rock era. They also found the time to record
a few more sides for Sun, creating a body of work that stands as rock 'n'
roll's sacred texts.. For "Mystery Train," Scotty used a special
custom-built amp with a reverb unit that could recreate the sound that Sam
Phillips got with his "slap-back" tape recorder setup. With that sound, says
Scotty, "'Mystery Train' became my signature song all these years." Like any
great band, the musicians kept changing and adapting, bringing new things
into the mix.

They'd come together pretty much by accident, but that was the team that
Elvis brought up to the majors in 1956. They took the revolution worldwide
on RCA with such seminal rockers as "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel," "All
Shook Up," "Heartbreak Hotel" and dozens more, records that have been such
an important part of all of our lives for so long that it's doubtful most of
us can remember when we first heard them.

Today, you can still see the guys in their '50s heyday, on the kinescopes of
Ed Sullivan and the other variety shows, and then onscreen in Elvis' early
and best films, King Creole, Loving You, Jailhouse Rock and GI Blues.

That was the only way to see them back then. In the late '50s and the first
half of the '60s, Elvis went from the army to Hollywood and the group no
longer toured.

But Elvis' original backup band stayed busy even when they weren't recording
soundtrack albums with Elvis. Scotty became a recording engineer/producer,
his biggest hit being 1959's "Tragedy" by Thomas Wayne (real name, Thomas
Wayne Perkins, the younger brother of Luther Perkins, Johnny Cash' lead
guitarist). Scotty also engineered some of the earliest blues revival
recordings out of Memphis, the Sam Charters-produced series that included
Furry Lewis and Memphis Willie B.

Bill Black was even more successful, his instrumental Bill Black Combo
scoring a 1960 No. 1 R&B hit with "Smokie Pt. 2," and crossing over with the
No. 9 pop hit, "White Silver Sands," giving Memphis' Hi Records its first
taste of major success (and giving future session guitarist Reggie Young his
first big break). Black retired from touring in 1962, and Bob Tucker took
over on bass, including an early Beatles tour. In 1965, rock's first bassist
died of a brain tumor. Scotty and DJ continued recording with Elvis,
appearing with him on his legendary 1968 TV comeback special.

Scotty and D.J. remain a team today, recreating rock history on national and
world tours both on their own as well as doing the Full Elvis with Ronnie
McDowell and the Jordanaires. Half a century after rock 'n' roll was born,
two of its founding fathers are still rocking hard.

If not for that original rock 'n' roll band, it's doubtful that virtually
everyone here tonight with ties to the music industry would be doing what we
do for a living.

It's impossible to imagine our lives without this group's music. And it's
impossible to imagine musicians more deserving of the Recording Academy's
Heroes Award than Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D.J. Fontana.

"Frank Sinatra Show: Welcome Home Elvis"

In 1957 Timex sponsored a series of TV Variety Show Specials starring Frank

taped on 12th May 1960 in Miami, was perhaps the best of all, featuring
Elvis Presley, upon completion of his National Service. This video,

Marriage can wait: Presley

LISA Marie Presley would consider walking down the aisle again - despite
marriages to Nicolas Cage and Michael Jackson that spectacularly failed.

"When I want to have children, I will get married," Presley said. "I don't
want to get married for the sake of getting married.

"But, then again, I could change my mind if I meet the right person. I just
need a break from that subject for a while."

In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Herald Sun ahead of her Melbourne
tour next month, Presley reveals she was charmed into marrying Jackson.

She is also coy about her scathing song, Gone,, which commentators say is an
iron-fisted backhander at Cage.

"A spineless ending," Presley sings on the track. "Well, who would have
guessed dear Daddy/Turned out to be a coward/When I turned my back, you cut
my throat."

Her 108-day marriage to Cage, nicknamed "Daddy" by his entourage, ended
after a fight. Cage threatened to file for divorce - and did.

"We are both pirates," Presley said. "Pirates cannot marry each other.
Otherwise, they sink the ship.

"Two people who have the same nature sometimes need each other to counteract
that. Instead, we contributed to it, and then blew it way out of control."

Gone came from the turmoil of a break-up.

"I do get a kick out of what people are saying about that song," Presley
said. "If people want to think that, whatever. I am not confirming or
denying anything."

Presley said she fell "totally in love" with Jackson. Their 1994 marriage
lasted 20 months.

Jackson, she said, had the power to intrigue, capture and engage.

Critics say Jackson married Presley to counter bad publicity. In 1994, he
was charged with child sex offences.

But Presley said her motives for marrying Jackson were real.

"He is very smart and he knows what he is doing," she said. "He didn't get
to where he is today by not being shrewd with people.

"At the time, I was quite young. So, I'm not going to disclaim the fact that
it was a growing thing for me.

"I was naive. I'd never been subjected to anything like it, but I learned
fast."

Even today, Presley refuses to criticise Jackson directly.

"Honestly, it was such a long time ago," she said. "It was a big learning
process for me."

For stability, Presley, 36, counts on her soulmate Danny Keough, and their
children, Danielle, 14, and Benjamin, 11.

Presley married Keough, a musician, when she was 20. Their marriage lasted
five years.

Danielle Keough recently signed to IMG, a model agency powerhouse that has
Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss on its books.

In April, she will feature alongside supermodels Moss and Amber Valetta in a
global campaign for luxury jeweller David Yurman.

Presley, a former wild teen with a drug habit, is anxious.

"Danielle wants to make her own money, which I completely respect, and want
her to do," she said.

"But she is still my baby. She is still 14. She has big plans and it is
making me a nervous wreck.

"I don't want her to fall into anything shallow and aimless. But she is
grounded. She has a really good head on those shoulders."

Presley will perform at Crown Casino on March 13 and 21 to support her new
album, To Whom It May Concern.

She admits facing a lifelong battle to step from the shadows of her father,
Elvis Presley.

"I'm finally okay with getting attention, wearing that hat as a singer and
being at the front of the stage," she said.

"It is not something I wanted in my life and I've had to break through that
fear."

RUMOURS?
By Ernst Jorgensen & Andylon Lensen.

This statement we found on another website.

"From Ernst Jorgensen we received information on new activities of the FTD
label.
Spring 2005: the SUN book and 3 CD set?"

First of all I never contacted them with this information last week Friday
and second why questioning the statement with  "Sping 2005: the SUN book and
3 CD set?".

In FACT Andylon we might even end up with a 4 CD - set with the Sun book for
Spring 2005.

ELVIS - Anthology.

According to another website they claim there will be a following-up for the
2nd To None
releases date 6 december 2004.
No, this is a false statement and is just a plain rumour.

Working on a 50th. Anniversary CD for Elvis' career start at SUN to be
released on BMG.

This announecement was made as a request from Ernst.

We are assembling all Elvis' SUN masters for release in late June. We have
been able to improve our tape sources on many of these Elvis masters, and we
are additionally trying our best to represent as close as possible the
original 1954-1955 SUN studio sound.

it would be of tremendous help if any of you collectors who have good 45 or
78 copies of these Elvis SUN singles for us to use for the final mastering
of the CD. We are looking for digital transfers of any of the SUN singles,
but the below titles represent our biggest headaches:

1) That's All Right
2) Blue Moon Of Kentucky
3) Milkcow Blues Boogie
4) You're A Heartbreaker

This is a unique chance for us to get the world to focus on these wonderful
recordings; maybe the best opportunity for a very long time. Your help will
be greatly appreciated.
Please contact Steve Hoffman  at webmaster@stevehoffman.tv and he will
forward to us.

And Ernst.... any luck?

Well, we really, really needed Unplayed - Mint copies and we found help from
a few people who are able to help us,  so... this is great news.

This week Ernst and Andylon will be "Disciussing The Facts"  ( Part 2 )
exclusive for Ep.Gold.

Tourist Attraction Goes Up In Flames.

At least ten of 12 buildings at Apacheland Movie Studio were destroyed in a
fire that broke out about 7 p-m Saturday night. More than 30 firefighters
were called to battle the blaze at the 85-acre tourist attraction east of
Apache Junction.

Apacheland was constructed in 1960 and was rebuilt after a May 1969 fire in
which a careless actor's cigarette burned everything but the barn and
church. The likes of Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, Chuck Connors, Hugh O'Brian
and Elvis Presley (for Charro) all pretended to duck bullets there.

It's now or never at local Elvis trial.

On Saturday, the Johnson County Courthouse was filled with friends of Elvis
Presley, pathologists who conducted the autopsies of the rock star and
attorneys arguing the case for and against the possible murder of Presley by
his best friend.

Students in one of four regional competitions of the Indiana High School
Mock Trial debated the case "Was Elvis Murdered?" in front of judges who
will determine which teams will advance to the state competition in March.

The 66 teams from 16 Indiana schools that participate in the competition
were given the facts of the case in November.

Dressed in suits and carrying armloads of notes, 48 students from Heritage
Christian School in Indianapolis, Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne and
Seymour High School took the stand as witnesses and paced the floor as
attorneys in Indiana's case against Terry King, a childhood friend, business
partner and band member of Elvis Presley.

King was accused of lacing Presley's drink with drugs that combined with
other drugs in his system to bring on cardiac arrest.

Teams practiced two to three times a week after school and on Saturdays
preparing both the prosecution's case and the defense. Each side has three
attorneys and three witnesses.

Thirty minutes before the competition, the teams find out if they are the
prosecution or the defense.

Eight teams of six students competed in three trials Saturday.

The judges - all volunteer lawyers and judges - rate each witness and
attorney on his or her performance in the courtroom.

Organizers said the southern regional was conducted in Johnson County
because the county's large courthouse is between Fort Wayne and Seymour and
they would like to get local schools interested in the statewide
competition.

Organizers said the purpose of the program is not necessarily to get
students interested in being lawyers but to get them to be confident when
speaking in public, to play roles, to think quickly on their feet and to
become familiar with the judicial system.

Amanda Roach and her teammates from Seymour said they learned more than they
expected about what qualifies as hearsay and what doesn't.

The team practiced every day last week, sometimes in the Jackson County
Courthouse, preparing for the trial. They said they quizzed each other and
tried to anticipate what other teams would ask to sharpen and polish their
arguments.

"The hardest thing is keeping your confidence when you get objections from
the other team," Roach said. "You have to work hard on your presentation and
learn how to say things."

A team of freshmen from Heritage Christian said their first competition was
a learning experience.

"You really have to have a response ready when the other team objects," Katy
Bucher said. "We'll be more ready next time."

The winner of the state competition in March will advance to the National
High School Mock Trial competition in May in Orlando, Fla.

Organizers said Indiana has a strong tradition of placing well at the
national trial. A team from South Bend was third in the nation last year.

A Memphis makeover.
February 15, 2004

BY DAVE HOEKSTRA STAFF REPORTER Advertisement

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- This city is one of the most compelling American
destinations of the year. Like a new dancer in an old Beale Street revue,
Memphis is applying a big beat under its sultry atmosphere to attract
attention.

The city is celebrating the 50th anniversary of rock 'n' roll.

That is no small task. The big bang comes on July 5, the 50th anniversary of
when Elvis Presley cut his first record, "That's All Right," backed by Bill
Black and Scotty Moore at Sun Studios, 706 Union Ave. To commemorate this
event, radio stations worldwide are encouraged to simultaneously play
"That's All Right."

City planners hope this will mark the largest playing of a single song at
the same moment in history. Bill Haley's "Shake, Rattle and Roll" was a top
12 hit in 1954. I wonder what his native Highland Park, Mich., has planned
for this summer?

Memphis rocks in 2004

* Sun Studio, 706 Union Ave. (901-521-0664)

Any visit to Memphis is incomplete without a visit to tiny Sun Studio, the
monster incubator of rock 'n' roll. One highlight is straddling the "X"
designed from masking tape where Elvis Presley stood to make his first
recordings.

"The Global Moment in Time" playing of Presley's "That's All Right" will
take place July 5 at Sun. Presley's lead guitarist Scotty Moore will play a
mint record of "That's All Right." The street in front of Sun will be
blocked off and live music will include original Sun cats like Billy Lee
Riley and Sonny Burgess as well as Billy "I Can Help" Swan. More acts TBA.
Sun Studio is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Visit
www.sunstudio.com for updates.

* The Young Avenue Deli, 2119 Young Ave. (901-278-0034)

Sun was Memphis then. This is Memphis now.

One of the hot alt music spots in town features the "Vegas Grind"/ stripper
music of the Sophisticats and Cast Iron Filter (bluegrass) at 10 p.m.
Friday. ($7, ages 21 and over). Chicago's Trans Am appears at the deli on
St. Patrick's Day. The Young Avenue Deli is open from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
seven days a week. Try the 'Bren' (smoked turkey, mushrooms, melted
provolone cheese wrapped into a pita). The kitchen is open during gigs.

* Memphis in May

Beale Street Music Festival at Tom Lee Park, on the Mississippi River, April
30-May 2 (901-525-4611)

The 27th annual Memphis in May International Festival has a global theme
every year and this year South Africa is the honored country. Memphis in May
lasts the entire month. The Beale Street Music Festival launches the event.
Confirmed acts for this year's festival include Buddy Guy, who is touring
with Double Trouble, Charlie Musselwhite, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Steve Miller
Band, Joss Stone and the Bar-Kays. The fest features about 30 percent
Memphis roots acts.

A three-day festival pass is $44.50; daily tickets are $17.50. Tickets go on
sale March 15. Also don't miss the Memphis in May World Championship
Barbecue Cooking Contest (May 13-15). For updated bookings on the monthlong

Memphis in May initiative, visit www.memphisinmay.org.

* Hi-Tone, 1913 Poplar Ave. (901-278-8663)

Inner Sounds with DJ Armis and DJ Red Eye Jedi spin great old funk and soul
at 10 p.m. Feb. 28. Their music can be found on Memphix Records, a local
dusted label that includes turntablist Dante Caganga from Danny's in
Chicago. An old school funk band will be added to the bill. Cover is $5.

* Elvis Death Week (that's what locals call it) Aug. 7-16

This year's theme is 50 Years of Elvis/50 Years of Rock 'n' Roll. It's too
early for specifics, but check out the Elvis Art Contest & Exhibit (Aug.
6-15) in the ticket office pavilion at Graceland Plaza, across the street
from the Big House. Expect tons of Elvis-themed artwork from amateur and
professional artists worldwide. Other events will be posted on
www.elvis.com/ graceland/calendar/.

A new Elvis network special is also in development for airing in the fourth
quarter. Elvis Presley Enterprises is the owner and executive producer of
this project, which will be produced by David Saltz (U2, Chris Isaac, Mick
Jagger).

* A nationally televised concert at the FedEx Forum in early September.

Maybe.

The FedEx Forum is the new 18,200-seat home of the Memphis Grizzlies NBA
team going up a block south of Beale Street. The $250 million publicly
financed arena is set to open in September. And this is so Memphis (cynical
commentary coming from a Memphis fan): a 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll
concert featuring pioneers in rock and soul may christen the stadium. Maybe.
Could be.

The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau is seeking corporate partners for
the event and has talked to everyone from MTV to Viacom, according to bureau
President Kevin Kane. MTV produced the recent Super Bowl show that featured
Justin Timberlake, a Memphis native and an "ambassador" for the 50th
anniversary of rock 'n' roll initiative. "He's still an ambassador," Kane
quipped. "He said [the Janet Jackson hand grab] was a mistake. We have to
believe him. But we're looking at a couple of big possibilities for the
concert." This much is for sure: The Rock 'n' Soul Museum (901-543-0800) is
moving into the FedEx Forum; a music theme will run throughout the arena.

Keep an eye on the concert developments through www.50yearsrocknroll.com.

The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau is all shook up with a $1 million
marketing campaign that promotes Memphis as "Home of the Blues" (Chicagoans
might have something to say about that) and the "Birthplace of Rock 'n'
Roll" (can't argue with that).

"The 50th anniversary of rock 'n' roll is a moving target," admitted Kevin
Kane, president of the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau and president of
the 50th anniversary committee. "People argue if the anniversary is when
Alan Freed coined the phrase or when Ike Turner recorded 'Rocket '88.' But
most music historians look at '54 [as] the year rock manifested itself. Then
when we started checking around, we found Rolling Stone is planning three
commemorative issues for 2004 and Hard Rock Cafe is doing special
merchandising. We promote the city through our musical heritage anyway, so
this was perfect. And this is not a Disneyland, a manufactured series of
things that pay homage to something.

"Is our goal to get everybody here for July 5? No. Our goal is to bring
awareness to what started here 50 years ago [and] changed the world
culturally. When people think of music tourism, they think of Memphis first.
That's the long-range plan."

I am a longtime fan of Memphis.

Readers of this column have walked through the halls of the Stax Museum of

American Soul Music, the Rock 'n' Soul Museum, Graceland, the National Civil
Rights Museum, the Peabody Hotel and even the long-gone Great Western
Steakhouse.

But after 20 visits to Memphis since the late 1980s, I share the feelings of
a cultural crossroads that some young Memphians have. How long can you
promote the past? For example, last September Elvis Presley's Memphis went
belly-up on its premiere Beale Street location. Owned and operated by the
Presley estate, it was to be the first of a series of franchised
restaurants.

"Different generations have different reasons to put premiums on different
things," explained William J. Murtagh, the first keeper of the National
Register of Historic Places, Department of the Interior and author of
Keeping Time (the History and Theory of Preservation in America). Murtagh,

80, is one of the country's premier experts on preservation. In an interview
from Alexandria, Va., he said preservationists are balancing the past with
the present. "The people at Mount Vernon are busy trying to reinvent George
Washington to make him real to a younger generation," Murtagh said.
"Williamsburg is crying uncle because their visitation is falling off. I
don't know the answer, but it is a problem.

"In terms of pure marketing, Memphis has good products to market. If their
existing market is drying up, then they have to find out what the younger
generation finds interesting enough to visit and pitch their product from
the angle of a younger generation. The essence of life changes.

"I call it skinning your cat from another direction."

* * *
During a recent visit to Memphis, I took a Sunday morning drive about 45
miles south to Coldwater, Miss., to visit hipster cat Jim Dickinson at his
compound of two vintage trailers and an old barn/recording studio. Dickinson
is the godfather of the Memphis music scene.

He produced the watershed reggae album "Toots in Memphis" and brought the
Rolling Stones to Muscle Shoals (Ala.) Studio where they recorded "Wild
Horses." Dickinson's sons Luther and Cody are members of the North
Mississippi All-Stars, who appeared at House of Blues on Friday night.
Dickinson's picture hangs in hip Memphis places like Shangri-La Records,
1916 Madison Ave. (901-274-1916).

"The future is still here," Dickinson said as he kicked back in an old easy
chair. "There's some kid in south Memphis playing in the garage as we speak.
There's a primitive rap scene here that has yet to blow up to the extent
that some regional rap scenes have. Whatever happens in Memphis doesn't
happen to a lot of people and it doesn't take many [people]."

Many times it has been suggested Memphis has produced so much great music
because of the Delta humidity. Others figure it has something to do with
murky brown water from the Mississippi River. Dickinson has the best
explanation: "I have a theory about altitude in terms of what makes
recording work," he said. "If you go to Colorado and try to record, you'll
see how hard it is. It's molecules colliding. There's no density in the air,
no humidity, so you're not going to get much, especially on the bottom end.
The closer you get to sea level, the more difficult it becomes to record. It
sounds good in New Orleans, but man it is hard. We are right on the
Chickasaw Bluff. We are at a sweet spot."

Sherman Willmott is another go-to-guy around Memphis.

He started Shangri-La Records in 1989. The eclectic new and used CD/vinyl
store has attracted Beck, Warren Zevon (who bought his own vinyl during the
last months of his life) and the Coen Brothers, who were researching music
for "O Brother, Where Art Thou." The brothers were knocking on the front
door about a half-hour before the store opened at noon. They were chased
away before the store opened. Once admitted to Shangri-La, they dropped $200
on blues CDs. "I think the reason they loved the store so much is that they
got treated rudely, just as if they were home in New York," Willmott said.

Originally from Connecticut, Willmott moved to Memphis in 1974. He now
publishes the fanzine Kreature Comforts (Low-Life Guide to Memphis), which
features hard-core music tourist attractions like Alex Chilton's parents'
home (145 Montgomery) and the Taco Bell, 1447 Union, where the original Sex
Pistols performed during their short American tour. Willmott, 37, also
founded the Shangri-La Projects record label and imprint that publishes
books such as A History of Garage and Frat Bands in Memphis and video
documentaries.

"It is easier to sell the past than the present in anything," Willmott said
over a cheeseburger at the wonderful Huey's Midtown, 1927 Madison Ave.
(901-726-4372). "In the music business it's easier to sell a greatest hits
package than a new CD. There's no one telling people they can't do things
here. There's not enough money here to make people sell out. Justin
Timberlake and Saliva are the only ones to make big money out of Memphis
recently.

"There will continue to be this incredible breeding ground for artists and
bands. This is the best time for live music here in 10, 11 years. In 1993
there were five or six good bands here . Now there are 30 to 40 bands that
are really good."

Last summer I made my annual pilgrimage to Memphis to sit in the bleachers
of downtown's AutoZone Park, sweat a lot and drink beer while watching
Pacific Coast League baseball. (Yes, Memphis is so strange, it is a member
of the Pacific Coast League). During my visit I bought a great CD by the
Porch Ghouls, a local Gram Parsons-meets-garage band. I've since heard they
obtained an opening slot for Aerosmith.

"That is how Memphis is cool," Willmott said. "The main guy [Mic Walker] was
working at Sun Studio. He gives the best Sun Studio tour in town. He moved
here from Florida. He's got the big Elvis pork chop sideburns going. He gave
a tour to Joe Perry [of Aerosmith] and then slipped him the band's demo. Six
months later Joe Perry called him and said, 'I've been listening the hell
out of your tape. Let's do something.' He put out their CD [on Perry's
label] and took them on tour last fall. Only in Memphis would that happen.
It's a weird place."

Despite such moments of serendipity, the Memphis Music Commission formally
promotes regional music. The 5-year-old commission is currently suggesting
Memphis as America's capitol for independent record labels. "In 1973 Memphis
was the fourth-largest recording center in the world," said Rey Flemings,
the commission's 30-year-old executive director. "We were home to the
second-largest music publishing company in the country. The music business
was one of the top 10 employment sectors in Memphis. In 1973 it generated
revenues exceeding $200 million a year, which would exceed $1 billion today.
That industry is nowhere near that relevant today. Memphis has begun to get
serious about understanding what it's going to take to establish itself in
that way again." The commission is working with the Memphis Convention &
Visitors Bureau for the 50th anniversary celebration and leases space from
the bureau.

Dickinson said, "The commission started as a service organization. Now it is
an attempt by the city to exploit the pitiful music community we have in
terms of creating a tourist attraction. Before Elvis Presley died, the word
'tourism' was never spoken in Memphis. Why would anybody come here? Anything
we had worth seeing was torn down.

"When you think about the people that made the records, they were all
misfits, one way or another. That works in Memphis. Nobody cooperated with
each other. It was a bunch of crazy rednecks who were compelled to make this
trans-racial music; whether they wanted to or not, in some cases. It made
this thing happen."

* * *
For cultural anthropologists, the South Main Historic District is the place
to go. The neighborhood centerpieces are the Amtrak Station, the Arcade
Restaurant, 540 S. Main St. (the city's oldest restaurant, built in 1919)
and Earnestine & Hazel's, a former whorehouse (circa 1918-1990) turned into
a bar at 531 S. Main St. (901-523-9754). This South Main landscape has been
used in films like "Mystery Train," Jim Jarmusch's postcard to Elvis and
Memphis, and more recently "21 Grams."

"Trolley Night" is the last Friday of every month. Between 6 and 9 p.m.
visitors ride the trolley for free while enjoying complimentary wine and
hors d'oeuvres. The trolley travels in a circle starting in North Memphis
and stops by South Main galleries such as Hollis Arts, D'Edge Art and Thames
Art & Interiors. "All these people from the suburbs come in," Willmott said.
"A couple thousand people will be down there. Back when 'Mystery Train' was
filmed there [in 1989], the streets were filled with hookers and that was
it. The galleries on South Main are doing great. South Main is working."

Dickinson added, "Memphis creeps further south and consumes more. They're
building that [FedEx] coliseum that looms over Beale Street like the mother
ship. But there's still something there. You can stand out in the middle of
Beale Street when it's empty [and] you can still feel something. That will
never go away. There's something there I can't escape. I stay away from here
too long and I start to play funny. It creeps into my playing. It comes from
my left hand first. After 10 days I don't play like I'm here anymore. That's
what people hire me for, to play like I'm from Memphis. I know it's what
Dylan wanted, unquestionably." Dickinson played piano on Bob Dylan's 1997
Grammy winning "Time Out of Mind."

Doug Bacon has a timely vision for Memphis. He is executive director of
Mpact Memphis, a group of 1,000 volunteers between the ages of 21 and 40 who
are trying to create a hip image for Memphis. Bacon said his membership is
37 percent of color. Mpact Memphis formed in August 2001 and is
headquartered in a restored warehouse in the South Main district.

Bacon is 33 years old. I wondered how Mpact balances the city's weighty
history with the present. "That is a good question," he said over breakfast
at the Arcade. "Memphis is always represented with cotton, river boats and
Elvis. History has shaped who we are, but it is important to get beyond that
and look [at] who we are and what's going on today. We have 'Mphasis' music
programs [that feature up-and-coming local music in unusual places]." A
couple of weeks ago jazz-rock artist Christopher "Free Sol" Anderson drew
600 people to funky Earnestine & Hazel's. Mpact Memphis also works with the
music commission. Several commissioners are Mpact members.

"Memphis has a spirit that comes and goes," Dickinson said. "It can be that
simple. It's been here at least three times [Beale Street, Elvis, Stax] and
surely it will return. The sad thing about Stax and even the death of Elvis
is that it happened so publicly for us, here. We watched Stax go out of
business in a humiliating way for over a year because of the way money was
being pumped into it by the bank. Headlines every day. I thought it would be
devastating to the community. I never expected it come back, but it did.

Elvis At Block Of Fame.

Legoland's newest attraction, the Block of Fame, which debuted Friday, has
transformed a winding, tree-lined walkway into a fun and educational
three-dimensional gallery, putting guests face-to-face with historical and
popular personalities who figure prominently in world culture.

Legoland master model builders spent more than 40 hours designing, plotting
and creating each bust. The collection of busts also includes William
Shakespeare, Elvis Presley, Ludwig van Beethoven, Abraham Lincoln, George
Washington, Marilyn Monroe and Albert Einstein. The life-size busts on
pedestals are replicated in detail in Lego bricks for the theme park's
newest attraction.

"The great thing about this attraction is that children see the life-size
busts, and if they don't know who they are they begin to ask questions,"
said Courtney Simmons, a Legoland spokeswoman. "It's great that the children
are able to interact with their parent while learning about the great heroes
and icons in our history."

Stephen King Quote About Elvis.

"Elvis Presley's talent brightened millions of lives. He widened the
horizons of my world certainly.
The first record I ever owned was a 78 rpm of Hound Dog backed by Don't Be
Cruel and when I listened to those tunes I felt about ten feet tall and I
grinned so hard that I felt like the corners of my mouth would meet in the
back and the tip of my head would simply topple off.

All I know about Rock and Roll is that it makes people feel good. Elvis
Presley more than made me feel good, he enriched my life and made it
better."
