Documentary "Tribute - Remembrances Of The King" Interviews Completed.

The 10-hour documentary on Elvis.

Please let anyone who might have Elvis photos or other memorabilia they'd like to see in the film used about this.

"Tribute - Remembrances of the King"

The 10-hour documentary on Elvis Presley, entitled "Tribute - Remembrances of the King" is about to begin editing; a task it's producers expect to take nearly 7 months. Over 200 hours worth of interviews were shot for the project and a few more interviews will be done between now and early spring. That said, the producers are currently looking for anyone who has photos or live footage, or other memorabilia they would like to see appear in the film. In exchange they will give the donors a credit line in the movie. Those individuals who have substantial amounts of material available will also receive a special archival film credit.

This material must not be owned by Graceland, EPE or any other organization and/or individual who may later lay claim to its copywrite. The producers are a 501-C3 non-profit, and as if the case with all the documentaries they do, 100% of all the revenue from the eventual sale of the film, less production costs and distribution fees will be given to charities Elvis was involved with during his life. The producers recently completed a documentary called, "Snow Angels," which follows 3 women through a year of their lives, all of whom have breast cancer and Sir Paul and Linda McCartney and Sarah McLachlan provided the sound track.

In fact, premiers of this film are being planned all over the world, to benefit the Linda McCartney Garland Appeal USA, so if any of you would like to host a premier in your area, you can reach the producers at kvrana@nc.rr.com  - or to Andylon ( Europe ) steamroller@wanadoo.nl

Please let us know about your Elvis material. We just want to be very careful that we do not run afoul of EPE like the folks at Passport Entertainment did. Be part of this wonderful trbute to the man we all love.

PS - If there are any entertainment or music attorneys out there, I'd like to hear from you as well.

WORLD PEMIERE SHOWING UNPUBLISHED PICTURES OF A YOUNG ELVIS.

The Fingerprints OF Elvis exhibition will have the world premiere showing unpublished pictures of a young Elvis (and other 50s rock icons). From the press release:

Previously unseen and unpublished images of Elvis Presley and other major Rock Œn¹ Roll stars from the 1950s - including The Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin, Buddy Holly, Dion and many more are to be revealed at the Early Rock exhibition at the Fingerprints of Elvis Exhibition. The high quality photographs were taken by the then unknown 17-year-old photographer Lew Allen and can now be seen together for the first time from Wednesday 3 December 2003 to spring 2004 in Liverpool¹s Albert Dock.

Perfectly capturing the emerging spirit of the early rock 'n'roll years, Lew Allen gained unprecedented access to the backstage area at three concerts initially due to local newspaper strike action - when Elvis visited Cleveland, Ohio in 1956. The candid work he produced then so impressed the managers of the Rock Party concerts two years later that they encouraged young Lew to go in to the theater to take photographs on assignment. The artists also gave him free reign to shoot anywhere - on or off stage, in their dressing rooms, on the tour bus, wherevers.

* World Exclusive - Photographic Coup for Fingerprints Of Elvis American photographer;
* Unique exhibition of Elvis Presley and other 50s rock icons by Lew Allen;
* Press Launch 12 noon on 2nd December: by Mike McCartney;
* Lew Allen will be available for interview 1-3 December;
* Open to the public Wednesday 3rd December.

ACCLAIMED SONGWRITER DON GIBSON DIES.

The songwriter and singer who wrote three of the most famous songs in country music history has died in Nashville. Don Gibson was pronounced dead at Baptist Hospital on Monday evening (Nov. 17). He was 75, and death was due to natural causes.

Although well known as an artist, Gibson once said, "I consider myself a songwriter who sings rather than a singer who writes songs." One of those songs was "Sweet Dreams," which was a 1956 hit for both Faron Young and Gibson and which landed Gibson a songwriting contract with premier Nashville publisher Acuff-Rose and a record deal with MGM. He wrote his other two landmark songs in a Knoxville, Tenn., trailer park in one afternoon: "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Oh Lonesome Me."

After charting a No. 9 hit with his single of "Sweet Dreams," Gibson left MGM for RCA. Chet Atkins produced his first singles in 1957. The recording of "Oh Lonesome Me" went to No. 1 and is now regarded as one of the prime early examples of what came to be known as the "Nashville Sound." With its use of piano, drums, guitars and background singers -- in place of the traditional steel guitar and fiddle -- "Oh Lonesome Me" set the prototype for the cleaner, sweeter sound that Atkins at RCA and Owen Bradley at Decca were championing.

He was born as Donald Eugene Gibson on April 3, 1928 in Shelby, N.C. Influenced by the mellow country sounds of Red Foley and Tennessee Ernie Ford, he began working local clubs while still in high school. After graduation, he pursued music while working a series of jobs as soda jerk, baby diaper deliveryman and dishwasher. He worked his way onto the local radio station, WHOS, with a group called Sons of the Soil, in 1948. With some early success, he recorded briefly for Columbia. He moved to the regional country music center, Knoxville, and played on the WNOX Midday Merry-Go-Round and Barn Dance series there. Wesley Rose of Acuff-Rose signed him to a writing contract after seeing Gibson perform in a Knoxville club. He came to Atkins' attention and, after "Oh Lonesome Me," recorded a string of hits, including "Blue Blue Day," "Sea of Heartbreak" and "Lonesome Number One."

With success came personal setbacks, however. Drug and alcohol problems plagued him, and he later said that he became hooked on speed when a doctor first prescribed it for his weight problem. Unknowingly, he wrote the song that would best describe himself and his career in 1960: "(I'd be) A Legend in My Time." Eventually, he went back to Shelby, met Bobbi Patterson, who became his second wife and who was instrumental in turning his life around. They moved to Nashville where he devoted his life to songwriting, while continuing to record.

In all, Gibson charted 82 songs himself, with three going to No. 1 -- "Oh Lonesome Me," "Blue Blue Day" and "Woman (Sensuous Woman)." Gibson was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1973 and into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. His songs were recorded by many artists, the most famous example being Ray Charles' 1962 cover of "I Can't Stop Loving You," which topped the pop charts for five weeks.

Funeral arrangements were pending at press time.

ELVIS: A MUSICAL INVENTORY 1939-55 FEBRUARY 2004

Richard Boussiron
ISBN 0-9519888-7-5 (paperback, ??? pages) 2003

PUBLICATION DELAYED UNTIL FEBRUARY 2004

DETAILS - http://musicmentor0.tripod.com/book_elvis_inventory.html

An extraordinarily detailed listing of the King's earliest musical influences — songs he learned at school, hymns and spirituals he sang at church, numbers he performed on the radio, in clubs, at backstage jams, etc. The product of over 20 years' original research including interviews with a host of people who knew him including his teacher, church ministers, work colleagues and fellow musicians. And, for the first time anywhere, complete details of all the historic Sun sessions — taken directly from the personal files of Marion Keisker. Quite simply a "must have" for Elvis specialists and diehard fans.

'Walking In Memphis' headed back up the charts

Lonestars country version of 'Walking in Memphis' is on the radio and doing quite well on the charts as a crossover hit.
I heard it on both country and Adult contemporary stations traveling this week.
Here are the chart stats:

Hot Country Singles - #13
Hot 100 - #67
Hot 100 Aiorplay - #65.

While it may not end up as big a hit as Mark Cohns original (#13 on Hot 100 in 1991) it is cool to see another song with reverence to Elvis making its way on the charts.

THE STAMPS QUARTET - BACK AGAIN.

Ed Enoch, owner and lead singer for the Southern Gospel quartet Golden Covenant, announced today that effective immediately, the group will once again be known by its legendary name, the Stamps Quartet.

Enoch, along with baritone singer Ed Hill, traveled with JD Sumner and the Stamps Quartet for 25 years before Sumner's death in November of 1998. At that time, the Sumner family retired the group's name, which led to the formation of Ed Enoch & Golden Covenant. Now, some five years later, Enoch holds the legal trademark to the historical name and, like the rest of Golden Covenant, is excited to once again be known as they have been for a quarter of a century.

"It feels like coming home," states Enoch, a 1997 inductee into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. "Our years together as the Stamps were among the greatest of my professional career. Whether it was singing with Elvis at Madison Square Gardens or with JD on the stage of the National Quartet Convention, I truly feel like we had so many opportunities to reach so many with the Gospel."

While the past five years as Golden Covenant have been successful, Enoch feels it is important to carry on the legacy begun by Gospel music pioneers Frank and VO Stamps in the 1920's with the original Stamps Quartet.
"I've always believed in being who you are," continues Enoch. "For Ed Hill and myself, who we are for much of our lives has been the Stamps. This is a name we don't take lightly. When JD died, becoming Golden Covenant was simply the right thing to do at the time. Now, we look forward to once again continuing the work we started so long ago, a job for which we shared JD's passion and commitment."

Joining Ed Enoch, who is now the owner of the Stamps Quartet, are current Golden Covenant members Ed Hill (baritone), Royce Taylor (tenor), Butch Owens (bass), Jerry Kelso (piano), and Jack Howell (road manager). For fans of Golden Covenant, Enoch is quick to point out that while the name is changing, the level of musical excellence and commitment to ministry are not. "We're not starting another group," states Enoch. "We're simply coming home to a name that accurately depicts our reverence for history and our vision for the future."

Plans for the newly-named Stamps Quartet are already underway. A joint project with Gospel Music legends, the Imperials, is already currently in the works, as well as a new studio project with current record label, Reformation Records.
"We look forward to the great opportunities God has in store for this group. It's our commitment every time we sing to go out and sing for the greatest of the greats, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. This hasn't changed in 25 years, and it's not about to now."

"We're humbled and so thankful that the Stamps Quartet has the opportunity once again to go out and sing for the only one who can truly change lives, our Savior, Jesus Christ."

The Stamps Quartet can be booked for an event by contacting 615.883.0200, edhill4stampsqt@yahoo.com, or by calling the Stamps Quartet office at 615.315.0633.
The group has also posted a new website at www.thestampsquartet.com

GROOVE MIX HEADS UP BMG DESK SITE....
As I was checking out the official joint venture of BMG and EPE -
The Elvis Desk Site, I noticed that the soundbite of "Rubberneckin'" that is used as you click onto the left column to play one of the videos is in fact the "Groove Mix" which was produced by Joseph Pirzada, and was rejected by BMG in favour of the Paul Oakenfold version. However the 'Groove Mix' is not offered on the 'Desk Site' to buy as a download as you can with the 'Nevin Mix'.
Obviously, BMG must approve of the groove mix by having an excerpt on their official site so maybe it will eventually be made available from them at some point in the future?

We know that Joseph was in Memphis this past week on some official business but what that entailed we are not too sure? We tried contacting him earlier today but he was unavailable, but we hope to bring you the news regarding this exclusively on the Elvis Express

ELVIS 4TH TO NONE....SORRY 39TH TO NONE.

First, BMG conceal Elvis' eyes on the cover of the remix of "Rubberneckin" then they chop off half his face on the latest compilation cover, "Elvis 2nd to None".
To add to the perpetual butchering of Elvis' face they came up with an awful, boring title for the album and to me it was not a
particularly inspiring choice of Elvis' songs.
It did not reach no.1 in the album charts but was 4th in the UK on release and now it has dropped to 39th.
The general public are not stupid "39th to None" is just another Elvis compilation following a disastrous choice of a poor remix
of "Rubberneckin" after the fabulous ALLC.
If I was the head of BMG I would ask some serious questions, coming up to the 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll,
about what is going wrong with their marketing or rather mismarketing of Elvis Presley's music catalogue.

From July 2004 BMG will start to lose their music copyright monopoly on Elvis' music in the UK and many other countries as copyright expires after 50 years.
For further information about the copyright problem facing BMG and other record labels check out the BBC website :

they are even planning to release an Elvis Presley book to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll with Elvis' first record at Sun Studio on July 5th 1954.
Now we hear that BMG may join forces with Sony to combine their operations.
One redeeming thought about this development is that Sony is Japanese and their
Prime Minister is one of Japan's greatest Elvis fans. Perhaps he will 'kick ass' or better 'kung-fu kick ass' and get Sony/BMG to release for once what Elvis fans want with CD covers that do not butcher Elvis' beautiful face...but don't hold your breath.

REINVENTING ELVIS: THE AMERICAN SOUND STUDIOS SESSIONS

by Stephen Rudko

It was bitter cold the evening of January 13, 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee. Producer Chips Moman and the searing band of musicians he had assembled at American Sound Studios were waiting the arrival of Elvis Presley and his notorious retinue. It would be the first evening of a scheduled ten day recording venture. It would also be the first such session for Presley outside of Nashville or Hollywood since he cut his last side for Sam Phillips at Sun Studio in 1955.

JULIE PARRISH'S MEMORIAL SERVICE.

The memorial service for Julie Parrish was held on Saturday, October 25 2003 at the ChristianInstitute, 1308 2nd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 and just a short distance from Julie's home. We are grateful to Larry Geller and his wife Carol for the following details about a very moving and heart-warming tribute to Julie at the Memorial Service. The Church was adorned with personal photos throughout Julie's life and artifacts from her home and personal belongings including her favourite t-shirt, black, with a sparkly E-L-V-I-S, our book "Elvis A King Forever" and original lobby cards from "Paradise Hawaiian Style" helping to create an Elvis ambiance and as Julie had often said "thank you God for letting me be one of the people who got to kiss Elvis.".

The Memorial Service was beautiful. It started with Elvis' song, "Amazing Grace" , lasted 2.5 hours and about 150 people were there including Hollywood friends, members of Elvis fan clubs, people Julie had simply 'touched' and her family. Some of her Hollywood friends that spoke were director Corey Allen (from "Rebel Without a Cause), comedian Ronnie Schell and actress Barbara Luna. Anne Helm of 'Follow that Dream' was there, Sandy Martindale (who dated Elvis in the 60's before she married Wink Martindale), Ed Bonja (official Elvis photographer) and other actors and actresses. Mostly it was her very special friends who spoke so lovingly of Julie. She was blessed with several close friends who were more like 'sisters' to her and she to them. They told funny, warm stories of her, going back many decades, bringing both laughter and tears.

A few of her family members spoke and her long-time boyfriend of some years ago, Joel Wachbrit. The woman minister, who was part of the special group of 'sisters' spoke lovingly about Julie and also sang. Much of the talk was of Julie's giving heart and her efforts on behalf of the battered women's shelter to which she devoted so much time and energy. Julie was genuinely one of the people who make the world a better place.

Larry was full of praise for Joan and Paul Gansky who helped to organise the Memorial Service and made sure that Elvis mementoes were prominently included in the display. A final comment is a quotation from Larry, "Sid, I've known Julie for many years, ever since "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" and we had become great friends. She was very close to my family, and living in the area, we spoke on the phone and always stayed in touch with each other. Although I knew she had battled cancer twice, I was unprepared for the suddenness of her passing. I keep seeing her beautiful, sweet face, and I find it so hard to believe she's gone."

After the service Joan and Paul Gansky told us that there was a reception at the Beverly Hills home of one of Julie's close friends and about 50 people attended. The congregation held hands in a circle in the garden, had wo minutes of silence for personal prayer, then released a beautiful white balloon!!...It danced happily back and forth in the sky, swirling around...heading right to the Pacific Ocean that Julie loved so much and then hopefully onwards and upwards to heaven. Then everyone socialized and people became friends through knowing Julie and recounting their many stories. Everyone promised to keep in touch and honour Julie that way. What a gift Julie left and some wonderful, new friendships.

Since the Memorial Service we have heard from the webmaster for Julie's website at : www.julieparrish.com.
His name is Stan Holcomb and he knew Julie for six years and has kindly provided a nice anecdote about how he became involved with Julie's website and the only meeting he had with her in New York in 2000. To read this cute story click on "Julie, Stan and Halloween".

A nice tribute to Julie can be found on the "Elvis' Women" website as well as a mass of information on the women in Elvis' movies. It was Julie Parrish that inspired Greg Altenberger to make this very professional website and Julie helped Greg track down many more actresses who were co- stars in Elvis' movies. In tribute to Julie, Greg says, "her outlook on life always inspired me, she was very serious about not being very serious. She was a very funny and a very classy lady!"

Another website to check out is a loving, intimate and irreverent site created by Dana Burgy-Gautschi and simply entitled "Aunt Julie". Dana is apartment with Julie when she was a model and just starting on her acting career. They kept their friendship for evermore and Julie was referred to as 'auntie' by Jaine's children.

Those of you who are near Julie's hometown, Tecumseh, MI, will be interested to know that a memorial was held for her there : November 8th, 2003, 2pm-5 pm, Masonic Temple, 700 Bishop Reed Drive, Tecumseh, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the cause of aiding abused women and their children.

If you care to send a card to the family, please address it to:
The Wilbar Family, PO Box 1702, La Mirada, CA 90637-1702.

BERTELMAN'S BMG TO ANNOUNCE MERGER WITH SONY MUSIC.

FRANKFURT (AFX) - Bertelsmann AG's Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) and Sony Corp's Sony Music will announce today that they have agreed to merge, the New York Post reported in its online edition, citing sources.

A Bertelsmann spokesman declined to comment.

The Post said Sony Music and BMG have been locked in merger talks since early September, following the collapse of talks between BMG and Time Warner Inc's Warner Music.

It said the talks were kicked into high gear in recent weeks as the two tried to beat rivals to the merger finish line.

According to a Financial Times report this morning, EMI Group PLC has secured debt financing for a 1.6-1.7 bln usd cash and shares bid for Warner Music.

The Post said the BMG-Sony Music merger is likely to take several months to complete as the companies seek approval from regulators. But according to the paper's sources, regulators are more amenable now to a deal than they were several years ago, when mergers between Warner and EMI and BMG and EMI were refused.

The paper said the merger is likely to send shudders through the halls of Time Warner, as sources in the music industry believe regulators will likely give the green light to one -- but not two -- music mergers.

The paper said that combined, BMG and Sony Music would have roughly 29 pct of the US music market, just ahead of Universal Music, currently the world's largest music company.

Globally, Sony has a 14.1 pct market share, while BMG has an 11.1 pct share, it said.

DR. GARY ENDERS DISPELS THE ELVIS IS ALIVE MYTHS.

HAIL MEMPHIS AND THE KING.

Justin Timberlake, B.B. King, Isaac Hayes and Scotty Moore - four musicians with ties to Memphis, Tennessee - have been selected as Musical Ambassadors for the city, as it plans a yearlong celebration in 2004 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of rock & roll. While the birth of rock is oft debated, for the purposes of its celebration, Memphis has chosen the recording of Elvis Presley's "That's All Right" as the music's big-bang moment. Among the events planned is a Global Moment in Time on July 5th (the day Presley cut the song), with radio stations worldwide encouraged to play the cut simultaneously.

Presley serves as the focal point for much of the year's festivities. His sixty-ninth birthday would have been on January 8th and Elvis Week (set for August 7-16) concludes on the day of his death. Memphis is also planning to host several other events throughout 2004.

Though born outside the city, Moore, Hayes and King all have connections to Memphis' early music industry. Moore played with Presley on numerous early recordings for Sam Phillips' Memphis-based Sun Records. And Hayes was an in-house songwriter and keyboardist for the city's legendary R&B label Stax Records. Earlier this year, the theater where Stax was initially housed was reopened as the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. King was once a popular radio disc jockey in the city, earning the name Beale Street Blues Boy, which was shortened to Blues Boy and eventually the iconic moniker he performed under for more than a half century. The freshest face of the bunch, Timberlake, was born and raised in Memphis, and his family still lives there.

BOBBY HARTFIELD FROM THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS DIES AT 63.

Hatfield ( Left ) of Righteous Brothers Dies at 63.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -
Bobby Hatfield, who with partner Bill Medley pioneered "blue-eyed soul'' as the Righteous Brotherswith hits like:
"Unchained Melody'' and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling,'' died Wednesday night ofundetermined causes at a hotel,
his manager said. He was 63.

Hatfield's body was discovered in his bed at 7 p.m. EST, a half-hour before the duo was to perform at Miller Auditorium on the Western Michigan University campus, manager David Cohen said: "It's a shock, a real shock,''
Cohen said during a telephone interview.
Medley, who teamed with Hatfield 42 years ago, was "broken up. He's not even coherent,'' Cohen said.

Hatfield's body was taken from the hotel about 10 p.m. directly to Lansing, where an autopsy was to be performed,
Joe Hakim, an executive with the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, told the Kalamazoo Gazette.

Miller Auditorium executive director Bill Biddle told the audience at 7:05 p.m. that the 7:30 p.m. show had been canceled
because of "a personal emergency of an unspecified nature.''

Hatfield had been sleeping most of the day in his room, Hakim said. When he didn't answer a wakeup call about 6 p.m.,
hotel staff and authorities entered the room and found Hatfield's body.

The Righteous Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Their signature 1964 single, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling,'' has been cited by numerous sources as the most-programmed song in radio history. Later 1960s hits included "Soul and Inspiration'' and "Unchained Melody.''

Robert Lee Hatfield was born Aug. 10, 1940 in Beaver Dam, Wis. His family moved to Anaheim, Calif., when he was 4.
Hatfield organized singing and instrumental groups in high school while helping his parents with their dry cleaning business.
An avid athlete, Hatfield considered a career in professional baseball, but found his true calling in music -
a love he pursued while attending Long Beach State University, where he formed a band and performed at bars and proms.

Hatfield teamed up with Medley in 1962 as part of a five-piece group called TheParamours.
According to the Righteous Brothers Web site, a black Marine called out during one of their performances,
"That was righteous, brothers!'' They renamed themselves the Righteous Brothers before the release of their first album in 1963.

After splitting up in 1968, they reunited in 1974 and returned to the top of the charts with "Rock and Roll Heaven.''
"Unchained Melody'' was featured in the 1990 movie "Ghost,'' and a re-recorded version earned Hatfield and Medley a Grammy nomination.

HAL BLAIR INDUCTED INTO THE NASHVILLE HALL OF FAME.

Sunday night (Nov. 2) the Nashville Songwriters Foundation welcomed Rodney Crowell, Paul Overstreet, John Prine and the late Hal Blair into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Blair, who died in 2001 after a long career of writing both for records and the movies, was the first inductee of the evening. Music historian Robert K. Oermann said that bringing him into the Hall of Fame was "the right thing to do," noting that his frequent co-writer, Don Robertson, was already a member. In a letter sent for the occasion, Robertson labeled his old friend "a real American original." Songs Blair wrote for Elvis were "I Was The One", "I Met Her Today", "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", "No More" and "What Now, What Next, Where To", while "Please Help Me I'm Falling" is probably his best known song.

EPGOLD FOLLOWING MESSAGE:

After many strugglings, her health and private situation Andylon decided to withdraw herself in the Elvis-scene completely in the near future.

That doesn't mean Ep.Gold will be shutdown on the Internet.
The same goes for her Elvis-shop.

Since Andylon worked 7/24 in the Elvisworld next to her Elvis-shop, she decided to have soon negotiations with third parties to have this Elvis Website to be continued for the coming years to continue Elvis, his music and his legacy.

She feels it is a "MUST" , this website Ep.Gold should stay in the air since some other Elvis web- sites up, untill now continue their censorship and ban Elvis releases on Import-labels - Official DVD's and books and on and on.

For more information on this topic: http://www.epgold.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=294

For the ones who would like to know what she will be doing after being an active fan for 42 years, well next to her activities she was always writing and composing and producing her own songs and this she will focus herself more and more for her years to come.

She feels it is imposible to thank everyone by name since she will have some of her contacts to be continued in the future with her real friends, but for all the other Elvis Fans she hopes you be visiting Ep.Gold as your favorite.

A way to say "Goodbye" is hard for Andylon , so she would like to express this with a song she wrote and produded.

Since she is convinced that........ "WHERE WORDS STOPS - MUSIC BEGINS" .......

I Tried So Hard

Since I Fell For You

If You Only Knew

You Mean Everything To Me

No One

He's Got You
I Don't See Me In Your Eyes Anymore

I Don't Care (Just As Long As You Love Me)

Since You've Been Gone

Leave My Woman Alone

Down And Out

Poor Mans' Gold

This album:

*Was recorded in much the same way as albums in the 50's and 60's were recorded - with nearly everyone working together in the studio at the same time, with minimal overdubs when absolutely necessary. This gives the album the same "live" vibe that most albums of that time had.

*Was recorded using very talented musicians who have long and well known track records and careers. No one has been able to capture that sound since, so no one could be better to record the material than the people who were there at the start of the "Rock & Roll" and "Nashville Pop" sounds.

*Is made up of songs that were carefully chosen from a list of over 300 songs. It took roughly two years for the songs list to be finalized so that each song fit perfectly in the album. Some are songs that Elvis either started but never finished or was considering but never did, and most of the others are songs done by artists such as Dean Martin, Roy Hamilton, and Ray Charles - people Elvis admired, idolized, and/or respected in the music business.
