BACK FROM THE DEAD MOVIE BUBBA - HO TEP.

Call it what you want but this movie, "Bubba Ho-Tep" is about IF Elvis didn't die on August 16th 1977.
No... it is not like the wellknown 3000 Miles to Graceland but more like a Ben Hur/Indiana Jones movie a-like.

To see what i mean:

Release-date is set for the month of September in the The United States.

STATE UNDERWRITES ELVIS FILM PROJECT.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Rock and film legend Elvis Presley was one of the more generous stars of his generation, bestowing
Cadillacs on members of his entourage. In the spirit of Elvis, the State Investment Council voted unanimously Tuesday (Aug 26) to loan $7.5 million to a private company to underwrite nearly all the cost of a film to be produced in New Mexico.

"Elvis Has Left the Building," starring Kim Basinger and directed by Joel Zwick, begins shooting in the Albuquerque area next month, according to the AP.

A black comedy, the film is about a cosmetics saleswoman who makes a pilgrimage from to Las Vegas from Memphis, leaving in her wake a trail of dead Elvis impersonators.

Peter Dekom, a Los Angeles entertainment lawyer and the council's film adviser, said it was "probably the easiest project to recommend that we have ever seen."

Zwick directed "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," a low-budget sleeper made for $5 million and it turned out to be a blockbuster. "Elvis Has Left the Building" has an $8 million budget.

ELVIS GOSPEL SHOW NOVEMBER 1st IN RANDERS, DENMARK.

It’s an honour for Elvis Unlimited to announce that Bob Moore, The Sweet Inspirations, Bill Baize (Formerly member of J.D. Sumner And The Stamps), Maarten Jansen, Stephen Acles, Denis Jale, Stan Urban, Bobo Moreno and many others perform at the Gospel show in Randers, Denmark on November 1st.

Bob Moore played with Elvis for more than 10 years. His first job with Elvis was the legendary June 1958 session that produced hits like ”A Fool Such As I”, ”A Big Hunk O’ Love” and many others. Bob Moore was part of the famous Nashville A-team who played on all of Elvis’ sessions in Nashville in the 1960’s. Bob Moore also played on many film soundtracks. Among them are “Blue Hawaii”, “Follow That Dream” and many others. He of cause also played bass on the two 1960’s gospel albums ”His Hand In Mine” and “How Great Thou Art” Elvis won a Grammy for the last one. The last session that Bob Moore played for Elvis was the January 1968 session that produced “US Male” and other late 1960’s Elvis classics.

The Sweet Inspirations is the famous female backing group that sang and toured with Elvis from 1969 to 1977. They sang back up for Elvis at all his concerts, at some recording sessions, in the two music documentaries “That’s The Way It Is” and “Elvis On Tour”, at the famous “Aloha From Hawaii” show in 1973, at the last TV show “Elvis In Concert” The list can go on and on. They also opened a good potion of show for Elvis by singing soul classics and their own hit by the same name as the group. The Sweet Inspirations did also sing backup at the live recording of “How Great Thou Art” from Memphis in 1974. Elvis won his last Grammy for this recording. Today do The Sweet Inspirations contains two of the three original members. Those’re Myrna Smith and Estelle Brown. Sylvia Shemwell, who had a heart attack two years ago and thank god is recovering, is replaced Portia Griffin.

Bill Baize was a member of Elvis favourite gospel quartet J.D. Sumner And The Stamps for around ten years. He sang with Elvis from 1971-76. He was part of the movie “Elvis On Tour” were you can see him and Elvis at the gospel session at RCA’s studios at Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. You can also hear and see Bill Baize sing the high Hunk’aaaaahhh during the ending of “Burning Love” Bill Baize also sang solo on “When It’s My Time” during many Elvis shows in 1970’s. This song was one of Elvis’ favourite gospel songs. Hear his comments after the song on the recording from College Park in 1974. “Who do you think you are? Tom Jones or what? You bust all the speakers!!! Bill Baize can sing very high and beautiful. Elvis had a special love for very high and very low voices. Bill Baize also sang on the Grammy winding live recording of “How Great Thou Art” from 1974. Bill Baize left J.D. Sumner And The Stamps and therefore also Elvis in 1976 to become a priest.

Beside Bob Moore, The Sweet Inspirations and Bill Baize will Maarten Jansen from Holland, Stephen Acles from Norway, Denis Jale from Austria, Stan Urban from England, Bobo Moreno from Denmark and many other performers be performing during the Elvis Presley Gospel Show in Randers, Denmark on November 1st

ELVIS CLUB CLOSES.
Beale restaurant ends 6-year run.
By Michael Lollar and Linda A. Moore

Elvis Presley's Memphis club ended its six-year run on Beale Street Tuesday, never living up to its ambitious goal of inspiring a themed chain of Elvis clubs from Las Vegas to London to Hong Kong.
About 48 employees lost their jobs in the closing, said Elvis Presley Enterprises CEO Jack Soden. He said EPE still holds the building's lease at 126 Beale and "will take some time to look at different situations and opportunities."

RUBBERNECKIN' REMIX NO 1

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -
Twenty-six years after his death, the King of Rock 'n' Roll returned to the top of the pop singles charts on Wednesday with another remix of one of his lesser-known songs. Elvis Presley's 1969 recording of "Rubberneckin,"' given a contemporary update by leading DJ Paul Oakenfold, sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week in release, making it the No. 1 commercial single for the week ended Sept. 14, according to sales tracker Nielsen SoundScan.

That was a relatively anemic opening compared with the debut of last year's remix of the obscure 1968 song "A Little Less Conversation," which sold 26,000 U.S. copies its first week and shot to No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic.

But the release of "Rubberneckin"' by RCA Records, a unit of Bertelsmann AG, was strong enough to bump "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken from the top of SoundScan's singles sales chart.

ELVIS PRESLEY'S MEMPHIS CLOSES.

As of Tuesday, September 16th, Elvis Presley's Memphis restaurant on Beale Street will be closed.

We are proud of the excellence of the facility, the quality of the operation and the dedication of our employees there.

Elvis Presley Enterprises has made a substantial investment in the historic Lansky Building at 126 Beale St. and will continue to lease and control the property. Because of the continued growth of the downtown market, we consider this building and location to be extremely valuable.

EPE has other plans for the building and will continue to investigate other opportunities in order to maximize the benefits of this superb location.

UPDATE RUBBERNECKIN' CHARTS.

Despite setback's in some German and the UK Pop-charts there is this time Norway ! who shows us that the new single "Rubbernecking"has entered their TOP 20 Pop-chart at nr. # 11.
Most surprisingly is that they've put up the live 1969 version to listen to on their website instead of the Paul Oakenfold mix.

The Norwegian charts with "Rubberneckin'", on Hit 40 (radio chart) he is No. 25, up from no. 40 and in the sales Top 20 he is in at no. 11.

ROOTS OF ELVIS.

by David Neale
Format: Paperback
Size: 6 x 9
Pages: 231
ISBN: 0-595-29505-3
Published: Sep-2003

An investigation of the often-surprising origins of some 450 songs recorded by Elvis Presley. Fascinating for Elvis fans and other music buffs.

Book Description

During Elvis Presley’s career, he recorded some 800 songs in studio conditions, meant for release on record. In addition, many informal recordings were made of Elvis singing numbers that were never intended for record release.

Such recordings were made at home, whilst visiting friends, during his stay in Germany, or even as one-liners or brief extracts during concert performances. Of all of these songs, David Neale has identified some 450 different titles that were recorded by someone else before Elvis got around to recording them.

Roots of Elvis lists each of these songs, identifying the original recording artist and when the original was made (some date back to the 19th century!), as well as providing fascinating background to the numbers. Readers will be surprised to learn of Elvis’s link with Ignacy Paderewski, for example, the man who prepared USA President Wilson’s Treaty of Versailles. The range of music represented is quite extraordinary and is testimony to Elvis’s versatility: rock’n’roll, blues, rhythm and blues, gospel, folk, and even a bit of classical: who would have thought that names such as Bach, Beethoven and Brahms would appear in a book about the music of Elvis Presley!

FAMILY, FRIENDS HONOR MUSIC'S MAN IN BLACK.

Family, friends and musicians gathered at Johnny Cash's Tennessee funeral Monday to pay tribute to a giant in American music.

"He represented the best of America; we're not going to see his like again," said singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, who wrote Cash's 1970 hit "Sunday Morning Coming Down."

More than 1,000 people attended the private 21/2-hour service at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, about 15 miles north of Nashville -- the same church where Cash mourned the death of his wife, June Carter Cash, in May.

Cash, 71, died Friday of respiratory failure caused by complications from diabetes. He had been in declining health for years.

"I can almost live in a world without Johnny Cash because he will always be with us," said Cash's daughter, singer Rosanne Cash. "I cannot begin to imagine a world without Daddy."

Among the celebrities attending were country singers Vince Gill, Hank Williams Jr., Travis Tritt, Dwight Yoakam, George Jones, Ricky Skaggs, Ronnie Dunn, the Statler Brothers and the Oak Ridge Boys. Former Vice President Al Gore, a native of Tennessee, also attended.

Kristofferson called Cash "Abraham Lincoln with a wild side" -- a man always willing to champion the voiceless and downtrodden, "whose work in life has been an inspiration and salvation to so many people around the world."

Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow sang the gospel hymn "The Old Rugged Cross" and Bob Dylan's "Every Grain of Sand."

For more than four decades, beginning in the 1950s as a peer of Elvis Presley, Cash specialized in earthy songs about hard times and brooding love songs. His hits ranged from the rockabilly anthem "Get Rhythm," to the comical "A Boy Named Sue," to the recent "Hurt," about the ravages of drug abuse.

Cash, known as "The Man in Black" for his preferred attire, was buried in a black coffin with silver handles.
