Elvis in Top50 of Madison Square greatest moments.

During the end of the year, the TV-station
MadisonSquareGuarden Networks airs a documentary about their 50 greatest
moments in history. All items are higlighted in detail.
The Garden hosts mainly sportsevents and that's the reason why more than 50%
of the items are dedicated to sport.
The 4 legendary sold-out concerts from Elvis in NY are on the fourth place
of the list and is the only non-sports event in the Top20.
The fact that the 9/11 concert (an event that shocked the USA and happened
recently) comes in on nr. 21 is another proove of Elvis' permanent
influence.
The item in the show is documented with unknown footage of the concert and
newscoverage.
It is unknown if the series will be published on DVD.

Hide Out In Irish Castle.

Photo: Castle hol ... Lisa Marie and
mum Priscilla
ELVIS Presley’s widow and daughter are spending New Year’s Eve holed up in a
remote Irish castle.
Priscilla and Lisa Marie have travelled from Los Angeles to the exclusive
Castle Gorteen Le Poer in Kilasheen, Co Tipperary.
It is home to Priscilla’s pal, the reclusive Austrian artist Gottfried
Helnwein.
Priscilla and Lisa Marie, 38, will be able to enjoy skeet shooting, archery
and falconry. Priscilla, 61, a keen rider, can also take part in pony treks
in the vast castle grounds.
A castle insider said: “Priscilla is a big fan of Gottfried’s art and there
is loads for them to do.”
Helnwin’s work is renowned for his fascination with the Third Reich.
He bought the castle nine years ago and turned it into a studio.
Priscilla and Lisa Marie will return to the US next week.

James Brown's 'Elvis' dream for a Graceland style home.

"Godfather of Soul" James Brown wanted his home turned into a Graceland-like
museum after his death, according to his would-be widow. "James and I talked
about that all the time," said Tomi Rae Hynie, "That's what he wanted. He wanted
a Graceland."
Tomi Rae, who's been barred from entering the singer's Beech Island, home ever
since his Christmas Day death in Atlanta at age 73, said Brown's personal
manager has legal documentation that permits her to live there as long as she
wants before converting it into a museum in his memory.
Efforts to reach the manager, Charles Bobbit, to confirm her claim were not
successful. But Brown's agent recalled a conversation with Brown about Graceland
about two years ago. "He said his house could be another Graceland," said Frank
Copsidas. "He said 'Elvis did it, why can't I?' "
He noted that Tomi Rae was not with Brown when he died and hadn't seen him for
several weeks because she was "in California in rehabilitation."
She was at a "retreat" fighting her dependence on anti-depressants, Tomi Rae
told the Chronicle.
"With my marriage and working and touring, I needed that, and James paid for
that," she said. "I wanted to get off those pills, and I wanted to do it to help
him get off those pills."

A
look inside the new Musicans Hall of Fame.
After the ‘Musians Hall of Fame” opened the doors in June
2006, the media quickly lost attention for this great museum in
Nashville, dedicated to the musicians behind the stars.
Scotty Moore’s webmaster is the first to give us a detailed view in the museum.
Here’s the direct link: http://www.scottymoore.net/mhofm.html
Needless to say that there are quite a few Elvis links as well: the acetate recorder of Sam Philips, Hal Blaine’s drum gear, Bobby Wood’s keyboard, an acoustic guitar of Reggie Young, and one of the jumbo Gibson guitars owned by Scotty Moore.

BMG/RCA officials. Including twelve Masters including 'Party', 'All Shook Up' &

It is of course extremely
rare and the bidding starts at US$28,000. Ebay item number: 280062126156
Note:

Multimillion dollar Elvis business hopes to connect with new generation.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Teenagers in the 1950s and '60s went wild over Elvis Presley,
much to the consternation of their parents, but kids in the new millennium
aren't so stirred by rock 'n' roll's original rebel.
"I can't
try to sell somebody Elvis who doesn't know who he is ... that he's not just
some guy who's been gone for 30 years," said Paul Jankowski, chief of marketing
for Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc.
Next year, three decades after Presley's death, the multimillion dollar Elvis
business will try to connect with a new generation of teenage fans.
"Our opportunity demographic is really going to be 12 to 34 (years old), with a
sweet spot around the 18-to-24 area," Jankowski said.
In the early days of Presley's career, teenagers gathered at jukeboxes or around
45-rpm turntables. But now the music has moved to the Internet, on sites like
MySpace, which is part of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., and Google Inc.'s YouTube.
Next year more film clips, photos and other material from the vast Presley
archives will be showing up online.
"We will take our MySpace page and we will focus on expanding our number of
friends on MySpace, that kind of thing," Jankowski said. "There's all kind of
Elvis content on YouTube, things that we put up, things that fans put up."
MySpace is a social-networking site that lets visitors share photos and personal
Web pages. YouTube lets users post and share videos.
The Elvis archives offer a rich source of material for "digital tactics,"
Jankowski said. "You know, for cell phones or doing wallpaper or doing podcasts."
Moving Elvis content online should be easy; making Elvis cool again will be more
difficult. After all, for most kids, Elvis is the music of their parents' — or
grandparents' — generation.
Aaron O'Connell, a 17-year-old from Fredericksburg, Va., who was visiting
souvenir shops at Graceland, said it could be tough to make Elvis relevant
again.
"Probably in today's world, like, he wouldn't be as cool, but back then he
probably was," said O'Connell, a high school junior in town for the Liberty Bowl
football game.
Presley managers are preparing for a big year, particularly for the weeklong
series of concerts, fan-club gatherings and other death anniversary events held
each August at Graceland, which draws more than 600,000 visitors annually.
Presley died of heart disease and prescription drug abuse at age 42 at Graceland
on Aug. 16, 1977.
Elvis Presley Enterprises has more than 200 licensees producing souvenirs and
signature products, and new ones for 2007 will have a youthful focus, like a
peanut butter and banana cream candy bar from Hershey with the King's picture on
the wrapper.
A Harley-Davidson dealer, with plans to open an office at Graceland, is coming
out with a limited line of 30 custom-made motorcycles — just like the ones Elvis
rode.
Prices aren't yet set, but the one-of-a-kind Harleys could run up to $50,000.
And while that's well beyond the reach of most teenagers — or Elvis fans in
general — the replica bikes are also part of the cool factor in Presley
marketing.
"The new owners will be flown to Memphis and they'll pick their bikes up at the
steps of Graceland," Jankowski said.
Jankowski was brought to Memphis by CKX Inc., the company that took over Elvis
Presley Enterprises and Graceland after buying the rights to Presley's name and
image last year from daughter Lisa Marie.
Forbes magazine says Elvis, one of the top-grossing dead celebrities, brought in
$42 million over the past year. But with the aging of Presley's longtime base of
admirers, EPE needs a new wave of younger fans.
"We want to reinvigorate our core demographic and grow it," Jankowski said,
"while we introduce the icon to the next generation."

Elvis Is Still The Most Popular Collected Postage Stamp

Elvis is still the most popular collected postage stamp according to the
Postal Service.
WASHINGTON - This year's Wonders of America set climbed to second place in
the most popular stamps, but Elvis is still the King, the Postal Service
said Tuesday.
Some 124.1 million of the 1993 Elvis Presley stamps were saved by Americans,
according to the post office, which does an annual survey of 10,000
households to determine which stamps are most popular.
Rising into second spot was the Wonders of America set with 87.5 million
stamps saved, the agency said.
"Stamp collecting continues as one of the worlds most popular educational
hobbies that the entire family can enjoy," Postmaster General John E. Potter
said in a statement.
The post office receives stamp ideas from an estimated 50,000 people
annually, with 20 to 25 suggestions making it onto postage. The avalanche of
ideas is reviewed by an independent advisory committee which sends its
recommendations to the postmaster general for a final decision.
"The fact that 10 of the top 25 were issued in the last three years serves
as a testament to the committee's expertise in selecting dynamic subjects
and America's continued interest in the hobby," Potter added.
People who want to make suggestions can send their ideas to the Citizens'
Stamp Advisory Committee, Stamp Development, U.S. Postal Service, 1735 North
Lynn St., Rm. 5013, Arlington, Va., 22209.
Following Elvis and the Wonders of America in popularity were Wildflowers,
1992, 76.1 million stamps saved; Rock & Roll/Rhythm & Blues, 1993, 75.9
million and DC Comics Super Heroes, 2006, 73.0 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Greetings From America, 2002, 71.4 million;
Insects and Spiders, 1999, 61.0 million; Art of Disney: Romance, 2006, 57.2
million; Legends of Baseball, 2000, 53.9 million and Art of Disney:
Celebration, 2005, 52.8 million.
And the rest of the top 25 are: Baseball Playing Fields, 2001, 49.0 million;
Art of Disney: Friendship, 2004, 47.7 million; Civil War, 1995, 46.6
million; Legends of the West, 1994, 46.4 million; Marilyn Monroe, 1995, 46.4

Soul 'Godfather' James Brown Dies.
"Godfather of Soul" James Brown was being treated for
"severe pneumonia" in an Atlanta hospital when he died.

Story Highlights
• James
Brown dies after being hospitalized with pneumonia
• Agent says it is unclear what 73-year-old singer died of
• Groundbreaking hits include "I Feel Good," "Sex Machine"
• Death ends revolutionary career at forefront of funk and disco
ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of
Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap,
funk and disco as well, died early Monday, his agent said. He was 73.
Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday
and died around 1:45 a.m ( European time of death 06:45 GMT) Monday, said his
agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by
his side, he said.
Copsidas said Brown's family was being notified of his death and that the cause
was still uncertain. "We really don't know at this point what he died of," he
said.
Along with Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and a handful of others, Brown was one of
the major musical influences of the past 50 years. At least one generation
idolized him, and sometimes openly copied him. (Watch the incomparable Brown
perform )
About Elvis Presley he said: "I wasn't just a fan, I was his brother. He said I
was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard
worker, dedicated, and God loved him. Last time I saw him was at Graceland. We
sang Old Blind Barnabus together, a gospel song. I love him and hope to see him
in heaven. There'll never be another like that soul brother
His rapid-footed dancing inspired Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson among others.
Songs such as David Bowie's "Fame," Prince's "Kiss," George Clinton's "Atomic
Dog" and Sly and the Family Stone's "Sing a Simple Song" were clearly based on
Brown's rhythms and vocal style.
If Brown's claim to the invention of soul can be challenged by fans of Ray
Charles and Sam Cooke, then his rights to the genres of rap, disco and funk are
beyond question. He was to rhythm and dance music what Dylan was to lyrics: the
unchallenged popular innovator. (Watch the "Hardest Working Man in Show
Business" do his thing )
"James presented obviously the best grooves," rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy
once told The Associated Press. "To this day, there has been no one near as
funky. No one's coming even close."
His hit singles include such classics as "Out of Sight," "(Get Up I Feel Like
Being a) Sex Machine," "I Got You (I Feel Good)" and "Say It Out Loud -- I'm
Black and I'm Proud," a landmark 1968 statement of racial pride.
"I clearly remember we were calling ourselves colored, and after the song, we
were calling ourselves black," Brown said in a 2003 Associated Press interview.
"The song showed even people to that day that lyrics and music and a song can
change society."
He won a Grammy award for lifetime achievement in 1992, as well as Grammys in
1965 for "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" (best R&B recording) and for "Living In
America" in 1987 (best R&B vocal performance, male.) He was one of the initial
artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, along with
Presley, Chuck Berry and other founding fathers.
'Disco is James Brown, hip-hop is James Brown, rap is James Brown'
He triumphed despite an often unhappy personal life. Brown, who lived in Beech
Island near the Georgia line, spent more than two years in a South Carolina
prison for aggravated assault and failing to stop for a police officer. After
his release on in 1991, Brown said he wanted to "try to straighten out" rock
music.
From the 1950s, when Brown had his first R&B hit, "Please, Please, Please" in
1956, through the mid-1970s, Brown went on a frenzy of cross-country tours,
concerts and new songs. He earned the nickname "The Hardest Working Man in Show
Business."
With his tight pants, shimmering feet, eye makeup and outrageous hair, Brown set
the stage for younger stars such as Michael Jackson and Prince.
In 1986, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And rap stars of
recent years overwhelmingly have borrowed his lyrics with a digital technique
called sampling.
Brown's work has been replayed by the Fat Boys, Ice-T, Public Enemy and a host
of other rappers. "The music out there is only as good as my last record," Brown
joked in a 1989 interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
"Disco is James Brown, hip-hop is James Brown, rap is James Brown; you know what
I'm saying? You hear all the rappers, 90 percent of their music is me," he told
the AP in 2003.
Born in poverty
Born in
poverty in Barnwell, South Carolina, in 1933, he was abandoned as a 4-year-old
to the care of relatives and friends and grew up on the streets of Augusta,
Georgia, in an "ill-repute area," as he once called it. There he learned to
wheel and deal.
"I wanted to be somebody," Brown said.
By the eighth grade in 1949, Brown had served 3 1/2 years in Alto Reform School
near Toccoa, Georgia, for breaking into cars.
While there, he met Bobby Byrd, whose family took Brown into their home. Byrd
also took Brown into his group, the Gospel Starlighters. Soon they changed their
name to the Famous Flames and their style to hard R&B.
In January 1956, King Records of Cincinnati signed the group, and four months
later "Please, Please, Please" was in the R&B Top Ten.
While most of Brown's life was glitz and glitter, he was plagued with charges of
abusing drugs and alcohol and of hitting his third wife, Adrienne.
In September 1988, Brown, high on PCP and carrying a shotgun, entered an
insurance seminar next to his Augusta office. Police said he asked seminar
participants if they were using his private restroom.
Police chased Brown for a half-hour from Augusta into South Carolina and back to
Georgia. The chase ended when police shot out the tires of his truck.
Brown received a six-year prison sentence. He spent 15 months in a South
Carolina prison and 10 months in a work release program before being paroled in
February 1991. In 2003, the South Carolina parole board granted him a pardon for
his crimes in that state.
Soon after his release, Brown was on stage again with an audience that included
millions of cable television viewers nationwide who watched the three-hour,
pay-per-view concert at Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.
Adrienne Brown died in 1996 in Los Angeles at age 47. She took PCP and several
prescription drugs while she had a bad heart and was weak from cosmetic surgery
two days earlier, the coroner said.
More recently, he married his fourth wife, Tomi Raye Hynie, one of his backup
singers. The couple had a son, James Jr.
Two years later, Brown spent a week in a private Columbia hospital, recovering
from what his agent said was dependency on painkillers. Brown's attorney, Albert
"Buddy" Dallas, said singer was exhausted from six years of road shows.

Elvis' personal copy of Kenpo Karate book for sale.
![]() |
|
This book was written by Elvis' good
friend, Ed Parker. It apparently comes from Elvis' personal collection.
The description reads:
"Elvis Presley's personally owned copy of the book "Kenpo Karate The Law Of The
Fist and the Empty Hand" written by Elvis ' karate instructor Ed Parker.
The hard back book measure 9 X 6 inches and has a dust cover which has
noticeable wear. Elvis has written on the cover of the book as well as
underscored numerous pages throughout the book as well as made handwritten
notations in the margins of the book as was his custom.
Book is copyright 1960 and has been signed to Elvis by Ed Parker on the inside
fly leaf. From Parker's notation it is reasonable to assume Parker has given
Elvis one copy before as the inscription makes note of Elvis not losing this
copy.
It was very common of Elvis to give copies of books to his friends and loved
ones. The book has approximately 15-22 pages of notations throughout.
Book comes with a letter of provenance from Homer Gilleland, and Charlie Hodge
who was present when the book was given to Alan Fortas whom also includes a
letter regarding the book received from Elvis."

The Gospel Side of Elvis - New Book for 2007 by Joe Mocheo.
Following is a press release from the book publisher Center Street. EPE will

and promotional support for this book.
CENTER STREET PARTNERS WITH ORIGINAL IMPERIAL TO TELL THE “GOSPEL SIDE OF ELVIS”
Center Street, a division of the Hachette Book Group, will publish The Gospel
Side of Elvis by Joe Moscheo. The book is scheduled for release in August of
2007 in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of Presley's death and will
highlight why Gospel music was the heart and soul of the “king of rock ‘n’
roll.”
Gospel music was a significant part of not only who Elvis became as a man, but
as an artist as well. The Gospel Side of Elvis will take a look at his roots and
the role of gospel in his foundational years, as well as the comfort, solace,
and strength it offered him in the years of his meteoric rise in popularity. It
will provide a rarely explored aspect of this American Idol and will reveal much
about the Elvis so many have yet to discover.
Joe Moscheo was an original member of the Imperials, a gospel group who
performed with Elvis in his Las Vegas shows and produced the highly successful
documentary He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley, which has sold
more than 350,000 copies.

Why No Respect For The African Americans Who Worked With Elvis?
Before anyone start throwin spears at me, let me explain what I'm sayin.
A black female class mate of mine at U of M, who isn't from Memphis,
went to Graceland this past weekend. She told me she didn't like how
Elvis' black influences are ignored as if they never existed. She felt
like she wasn't welcomed cause they only talk about how white he was.
She said they do mention he liked the blues but that Country and Gospel were more important and influencial to him.
Has
it really gotten this bad??? That's not true at all and EPE should know
that and quit tryin to make him look like he was the whitest guy ever,
and into somethin he wasn't. No wonder Chuck D and others take cheap
shots at him and his image.
I'm sorry, but as a black person, I have a problem with this. There's a
reason why so many black folks think differently of Elvis, and it's
cause he gets all the glory and praise while his black idols who really
inspired him the most, get nothin.
Over the years, Elvis worked with alot of African Americans and even had
us in his movies, and on his records and stage show. He bought more cars
and donated more charities to black folks than his own. Some of the
black musicians were musical legends and pioneers. Others were only
popular to black folks. But why do they get pushed aside while the white
musicians get all the credit and pub?
We always hear about Elvis workin with Scotty Moore, and The Jordanaires.
But we never see or hear much about Dudley Brooks, Darlene Love, Kitty
White, Al Jackson, or Earl brown. Some of y'all might be thinkin, "who
are they?".
Here's who they are:
Dudley played piano on most of Elvis' recordings, basically his movie
soundtracks from 1960-68.
Darlene was a musical legend and former Motown singer and appeared in
his 68 Comeback and sang Motherless Child in the show, and his last
movie, Change Of Habit.
Kitty White was the first person to sing a duet with Elvis on Crawfish.
Al Jackson played drums on his 73 Stax sessions, and he co-wrote the
song Let's Stay Together with Al Green which is an R&B love anthem.
Earl brown not only wrote IICD for Elvis and arguably his greatest song
ever, but he also choreographed the dance segments in the 68 Comeback.
My point bein, is that these are important pieces to Elvis' legacy and
career, but no one really knows, nor seems to care about them as much as
they do the lesser known white musicians who sang and worked with him.
Why????
Nancy Rooks writes a book, but no one outdside of the Elvis fanbase
knows about it. But yet, we've got the MM throwin their BS out at the
world as if what they say is the holy word. It's like the fans don't
care what black folks who were as close to and around him as any others,
have to say.
Look at the The Sweet Inspirations. They worked longer than anyone else
with him on tour and without leavin him. They were his opening act. They
appeared on more albums than the Jordanaires did. But all they ever say
is how great and important those male groups were and hardly ever any
mention of the black girls who helped him throuigh some rough nights on
stage. Whta if he didn't have them on his side? He'd probably woulda
lost his ind on stage.
Elvis loved and respected black folks, even his ex girlfriends have said
it. So why is it blacks are always disregarded by EPE and all the
documentaries that are on tv?
Why do folks have a problem acceptin that the white boy from Memphis had
soul and liked women fo colour, who wasn't a racist and supported black
culture and was more influenced by us than any other?
Once EPE and society understands this and acknowledges this, then black
folks in general with start to respect and accept Elvis and his fame and
legacy.
But you can't expect us to feel his greatness in general if we are
excluded from his.

A Song Co Written By Elvis For Aution.
Songwriter Paul Terry King (co- author of the last known song composed but never
released by Elvis) is now auctioning off his copyrighted interest to the song
titled, "Just Like Rollin' Up Hill" (registered under Elvis Presley's BMI work
number 7600186 on BMI.com).
Elvis Presley and former American Studios songwriter Paul Terry King co- wrote
two songs in 1973 and performed them privately - "If I'd Only Bought Her Roses"
and "Just Like Rollin' Up Hill."
"If I'd Only Bought Her Roses," US copyright PAu-1810-413, was purchased by
Elvis-A-Rama in 2005. Elvis-A-Rama was planning an Elvis impersonation contest
with the winning contestant singing "If I'd Only Bought Her Roses."
The song (along with remaining assets of Elvis-A-Rama) were purchased by
billionaire Robert Sillerman's company CKX in 2005 for an undisclosed amount
prior to release.
Sillerman purchased an 80% stake in Graceland in 2004 and last year acquired the
hit show American Idol. To date Sillerman has let Elvis Presley's last known
song, "Just Like Rollin' Up Hill," slip through the cracks. You can hear it on
http://www.ElvisSong.info.
So, devoted fans, music enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and/or entertainers can now
bid and get copyright and performance rights to one of the most prized
possessions of the King himself, his music.
"It's Now or Never!": Sillerman is acquiring everything Elvis. This opportunity
will never be available to the public again.
The song will be available to the public for auction on eBay Jan. 19th, 2007.
Bid opens at $10,000 at 5 PM PST. To listen to song, press inquiries, etc., go

For sale: the secrets of
Hollywood's golden age stars.
· Fox studio contracts will be auctioned for charity
· Mystery of Elvis's changing hair solved
It may not be Hollywood's most enduring mystery, but the truth can finally be
revealed over why Elvis Presley's trademark quiff turned from near-blond to jet
black in the 1956 classic Love Me Tender - he was allowed to do his own hair.
The revelation is one of many Tinseltown secrets in a treasure trove of
documents belonging to 20th Century Fox that are to be auctioned in New York
next month to benefit an actors' charity.
Alongside details of Elvis's follicular faux pas are letters chronicling Judy
Garland's slide into alcoholism, contracts showing the bumper pay packets of
Marlon Brando and Cary Grant, and a 1946 memo declaring that Norma Jean
Dougherty would henceforth be known as Marilyn Monroe.
"These papers are so cool that, as a fan of that history, I will have to
restrain myself from bidding," said Tom Rothman, chairman of Fox Filmed
Entertainment, in an interview with Variety magazine.
"Fox's heritage reflects Hollywood itself and our archives are a Tut's tomb of
movie history. This donation is intended to get the past out of file cabinets
into the hands of film lovers, and let it serve the present through the Motion
Picture and Television Fund.
"We also hope this auction might inspire other studios to follow suit."
The documents, many signed by the actors, provide a tantalising glimpse into the
professional lives of movie stars from Hollywood's golden era.
The contract between Presley and Fox for Love Me Tender gave the actor and
singer unprecedented permission to wear his hair how he chose, but the
unfortunate colour change later came to be seen as one of the film's most
glaring continuity errors.
Garland's signature appears on a contract for the 1967 film Valley of the Dolls,
for which she was cast in the supporting role of Helen Lawson. It was widely
believed that she backed out of the film, taking her expensive sequinned trouser
suit with her, but another letter in the collection confirms her dismissal for
repeatedly turning up for filming late and inebriated. She died two years later
from a drug overdose.
Brando, who received an Oscar nomination for the 1952 movie Viva Zapata, earned
$125,000 (£63,000) for the 12-week shoot in Texas, according to another contract
that will go under the hammer at the Swann Auction Galleries in Manhattan on
January 25.
Grant, meanwhile, pocketed $100,000 for his appearance in the 1949 comedy I Was
a Male War Bride plus 10% of the gross receipts if they reached $1m. The huge
financial reward, and the perk of his own dressing-room phone, presumably
provided some relief for Grant, who contracted hepatitis during filming in a
freezing German winter.
Some of the other big-name contracts up for sale include two that highlight
Humphrey Bogart's rise to stardom. His first studio agreement in 1930 gave him
$400 a week for Up the River, but by 1951, when he signed up to play newspaper
editor Ed Hutcheson in Deadline USA, his weekly salary was $17,500.
Earlier film stars such as Laurel and Hardy are also represented. Their first
contracts stipulated that they had to supply their own costumes. As Fox's stable
of stars grew, the studio did start providing clothes, though according to the
documents some were still required to fork out for their own underwear.
Nicholas Lowry, the president of Swann Galleries, was unable to estimate the
value of the documents, but said they would be worth a fortune to private
collectors.
Ken Scherer, chief executive of the Motion Picture & Television Fund's
foundation, which supports retired actors and their families, said the sale
would provide a massive windfall.
"You can buy costumes and memorabilia on eBay, but these documents are something
else," he told Variety. "Who knows the value of these items, many of which are
pretty special and unique."

Elvis Presley Enterprises Buys Chinese Restaurant.
Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. has bought China Buffet, a restaurant at 3641
Elvis Presley Blvd., from CNL APF Partners LP for $1 million.
The 5,200-square-foot restaurant was built in 1991 and sits on .8 acres on the
west side of Elvis Presley Boulevard south of Bluebird Road. The Shelby County
Assessor in 2006 appraised it at $490,100.
CNL Income Fund VIII Ltd., the predecessor company of CNL APF Partners, bought
the property in August 1991 for about $877,000.
The restaurant will remain in operation as is, said Todd Morgan, spokesman for
Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE). Morgan said EPE saw this as an opportunity to
invest near other EPE-owned properties. The restaurant is adjacent to the
driveway of Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel at 3677 Elvis Presley Blvd.
In February 2005, Sports Entertainment Enterprises Inc. doing business as CKX
Inc., a company owned by Robert F.X. Sillerman, bought an 85 percent interest in
EPE. A year later, CKX announced plans to enhance Graceland visitors'
experiences in the Whitehaven area around Graceland, while preserving the
integrity of the mansion itself.

MEMPHIS - New Hope For Libertyland.
![]() |
Tuesday city council members tentatively approved a developer's letter of intent
to reopen and operate the amusement park.
If all goes as planned the park could be open by the summer.
Joyland amusement park, which purchased Joyland in Wichita, Kansas earlier this
year, not only wants to reopen this park, but do something Libertyland couldn't
do.. and make it a viable operation.
Joyland wants to pump around five million into what is left of Libertyland over
the next three years.
The developers also want to keep the one hundred year old carousel at the park
and the Zippin Pippin in Memphis.
They also want to capitalize on the park's most famous visitor.
"One of the biggest things we looked at was they never used that as this was
Elvis' you know favorite ride," Robert Barnard with Joyland Amusement Park.
Joyland has operated at least four amusement parks in the country and says once
re-opened the park in Memphis will employ up to 500 part time and 30 full time
workers.
Still, not all council members and community groups are convinced the company
can turn the park around.
"Once again this could be great, but they haven't shown us how it will be
sustainable and that's our big goal.. that it's sustainable and that is going to
continue to benefit the neighborhood and that they are not going to back out of
it in 10 years," said Sutton Mora-Hayes with the Cooper Young Development
Corporation.
A number of Libertyland supporters at the parks committee meeting today couldn't
contain their excitement and say this is the best possible move for the
neighborhood and the city.
We definitely need it.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays I'm so excited we thought this was dead,"
said Denise Parkinson with "save Libertyland."
Our children need it," said Mary Ritter.
Joyland says this deal will have to move quickly to get this park open for the
summer season and says it will take an initial investment of $1-1.5 million to
get the park up and running.
The parks committee will meet again in two weeks.
At that time Joyland will present a finalized lease agreement and development
plan.

Movie studio Fox auctions movie star contracts.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Movie studio 20th Century Fox will next month auction off more than 200 documents signed by stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando, Daily Variety reported on Wednesday.
Proceeds from the sale, set to take place in New York on January 25 through
auctioneer Swann Galleries, will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund, a
charity for Hollywood actors and other employees.
Among the offerings are a 1946 internal memo advising that Norma Jean Dougherty
was changing her professional name to Marilyn Monroe; a contract allowing
Presley to violate strict grooming codes and wear his hair however he saw fit
for "Love Me Tender," his 1956 feature film debut; and Brando's 1951 contract
for "Viva Zapata," which paid him almost $125,000 for the film, the trade paper
said.
Other contracts on the block have been signed by the likes of Lucille Ball, Cary
Grant, Will Rogers, Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable, Katharine Hepburn, Lana Turner,
Dean Martin, John Steinbeck, Natalie Wood, the Three Stooges, and Judy Garland,
according to Swann's Web site.
"These papers are so cool that, as a fan of that history, I will have to
restrain myself from bidding," Daily Variety quoted studio co-chairman Tom
Rothman as saying.

* The scams and the schemes...
Elvis Decoded also covers scores of other questions and topics that have been
largely ignored or mishandled over the past 29 years.
This Elvis
sleuth offers a unique perspective on the toughest questions and the most
complicated issues in the Elvis Universe, and explains how things got so
confusing.

numerous Elvis source materials.

most important in the rock history.
The new owner bought the entire collection from former concert promoter Bill

Among the Elvis items are several rare or unseen black and white concert pictures from 1975.

A Day In The West Presents Elvis Presley Movie Memories.

Sedona, Arizona: When Bob Bradshaw came to Sedona back in 1945 there wasn't much
here. Over the next 50 years, many films were made in Sedona and Bob was a part
of most of them, serving as location scout, stuntman, and even actor. He built
the first western town for use in the booming movie industry (located beneath
Coffee Pot Rock), and was one of the first Marlboro Men - many say he is still
alive because he never actually smoked. Bob Bradshaw is also one of the renowned
early photographers of Sedona.
The Adventure Company and A Day In The West are presenting brief vignettes of
selected Bob Bradshaw's photographs and movie memories.
In 1967, the movie was Stay Away Joe, starring Elvis Presley, Katy Jurado,
Burgess Meredith, Joan Blondell, L.Q. Jones, Warren Vanders, Buck Kartalian,
Susan Trustman, Quentin Dean, Henry Jones, Anne Seymour, Thomas Gomez, Doug
Henderson, Angus Duncan and Michael Love. The Hollywood studio was MGM.
"I found a house for him (Elvis) to stay in below King's Ransom on Oak Creek. I
found another place for his Memphis Mafia entourage nearby. Security was a big
thing, and most of us weren't used to that kind of protection. The movie took
2.5 months to film, and a lot of it was shot on the Bradshaw Ranch. Elvis was a
nice guy, very down to earth, and seemed to enjoy the process of filming in
Sedona." - Bob Bradshaw
Bradshaw was the first to offer tours of the Sedona Red Rocks on horseback, and
created what is now known as the "Broken Arrow" trail. Although commercial jeeps
started driving tours on the Broken Arrow trail in 1958, the trail remained
virtually unchanged until 1985. A Sedona icon and popular photographer, you'll
see Bob Bradshaw's work all over Sedona and Arizona. For many years he
contributed images to Arizona Highways. He still lives in Sedona.

ELVIS PRESLEY - PATERNITY SUIT BOOK & DVD.
Why Produce An Elvis Documentary On Such
A Controversial Topic?
By now, most people know where my heart is, and that I, myself, am just a
fan attempting to release the best productions possible. The goal is to be
entertaining, yet accurate, factual and always positive.
The Paternity Suit production is admittedly totally different from any other
project I have ever created. But you may ask “If you are such a fan, why
would you create a documentary on such a controversial topic?” The fact that
I am such a fan is all the more reason to dispel the myths and reveal for
the first time ever, the intricate details of this little known, very long
chapter in Elvis’ life and career.
Serious fans only know of a mere mention of the lawsuit by Elvis on stage on
one occasion. Most moderate fans have never heard anything of the case. The
complete story, with all of the in-depth details, hidden camera photos,
legal documents, court rulings, medical records, official F.B.I. files,
polygraph and blood tests, media reports, first hand accounts from
eye-witnesses, as well as numerous recorded statements from Elvis himself
have never been revealed until now.
As a fan, you may know of his career, but do you know all the trials and
tribulations he endured for several years during the course of that career?
What he was dealing with privately as his career simultaneously took shape?
It is important to remember that not everything that happens in someone's
life is necessarily a happy occasion, but if you will truly study the life
and career of Elvis, you will see the only way to get a clear picture of the
overall legend is to look at each piece of the puzzle as it is revealed.
Some pieces are happy, some are filled with drama and stress. But they are
all a part of who he was, and only by objectively examining ALL the pieces
of his life, you we start to get the real picture of how great a person he
was and his legend continues to grow. Those who blindly choose only to look
at the pieces of his life that they think are gushing with happiness, will
sadly never see the true individual, and consequently do Elvis and his
memory a grave misjustice.
Although Elvis was not perfect, this documentary is not intended to harm his
reputation, but to reveal his character in a manner that will cause you to
respect him even more.
If SUPERMAN were to take a solid steel bar and bend it into a pretzel, you
would not be surprised. But if a mortal human were to bend the steel bar
into a pretzel, you would definitely be impressed. Once fans look past
“Elvis the legend”, and realize he was a human being like the rest of us,
then the more you examine his life, the more impressed you will be at his
great accomplishments, his integrity and his true character.
The intent of this documentary is not to make Elvis look bad, but to examine
the true and documented facts in this long court battle, and to reveal Elvis
the man Behind The Image, taking special care to look beneath the “S” on his
chest, and to reveal his true HUMAN identity.
After seeing this documentary, you will walk away with an even greater
respect for the MAN.
As the case continued on over the years, so did Elvis’ career and personal
life with many triumphs as well as heartaches. As the story of the lingering
legal battle unfolds, I feel it is also equally important to present the
remarkable accomplishments and factual events in Elvis’ life and career as
they simultaneously unfold. This gives you the unique inside perspective
into the emotional elements Elvis must have been dealing with privately
during that period, as he recorded in the studio or performed to millions of
people as he toured the country in the 1970’s.
It is for this reason that I feel this story is a relevant portion of Elvis
Presley history that is worthy of further investigation and documentation.
The finished work, by design will consciously bounce you back and fourth
between Elvis Presley the defendant, the superstar and ultimately the man.
Respectfully,
Bud Glass

Lonely Avenue.
The Unlikely Life and Times
of Doc Pomus by Alex Halberstadt.
The only biography of colorful and legendary songwriter Doc Pomus, who wrote
such beloved songs as "Lonely Avenue," "Save the Last Dance for Me," and "Viva
Las Vegas"
"Doc was more than a man among men. He was the sun."(Lou Reed)
One of the most original, influential, and commercially successful American
songwriters, Doc Pomus (1927-1991) is remembered best for the dozens of hits he
wrote during rock 'n' roll's first decade. A role model for several generations
of composers, Doc was renowned for his mastery of virtually every popular style,
from the gutbucket rhythm and blues of "Lonely Avenue" to the symphonic
invention of "Save the Last Dance for Me" to the pop confection of "Viva Las
Vegas." His songs have been recorded by everyone from Ray Charles, Elvis
Presley, and B.B. King to Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, and Bruce Springsteen.
Despite his successes, few acquaintances knew that this writer of jukebox hits
led one of the most dramatic lives of his time. Spanning extravagant wealth and
desperate poverty, suburban family life and the depths of New York's underworld,
enduring love and persistent loneliness, Doc's story remains one of the great
untold American lives.
Lonely Avenue is a beautifully written narrative that reads like a novel,
fortified by full access to Doc Pomus's family and friends, voluminous journals,
and archives.
About the Author:
Alex Halberstadt's writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, GQ, the Los Angeles Times, the Oxford American, Grand Street, Dissent, and elsewhere. He is best known for his award-winning articles on American music that appear on Salon.com. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Peter Guralnick (Foreword) is the author of the
best-selling two-volume biography of Elvis Presley, Last Train to Memphis and

Birthplace Museum Update.
Display-case backdrops and random artifacts line the Elvis Presley Museum this
week where workers rush to finish a massive renovation before the King's Jan. 8
birthday.
The $262,000 project already has transformed the one-room collection of
pre-age-13 Elvis memorabilia into an eye-popping display with twists, turns and
texture.
The Daily Journal promised not to reveal too much of the new look, but we can
say that crushed velvet, reflective surfaces, large display cases and more than
50 new contextual props - including audio and video clips - play major roles.
The stylized design is the work of Scott Blake, creative director at
Memphis-based Design 500, who also did the Tunica Riverpark museum. Terry
Johnston of Germantown Contracting brought Blake's vision to life with his crew
of builders and electricians.
When it's done, said director Dick Guyton, the museum will tell a more
comprehensive story of Elvis' life as a boy growing up in post-Depression-era
Tupelo from his birth in 1935 to 1948, when his family left for Memphis.
"People in the last three years had begun to ask questions like, What was it
like for Elvis to grow up in Tupelo or to be born in the 1930s?'" he said. "So
we want to tell that story."
Early influences
Blake said his job was to find a way to group the
memorabilia so that it weaves a narrative about Elvis' early influences, like
his church's gospel music and his family's poverty.
"We tried to start in the mid-'30s and show the austerity of life and the
factory work, so we stay monochromatic until Elvis goes to Memphis and then the
colors kick out at you," Blake said, explaining the exhibit's color scheme. "We
hope to entertain while we educate."
Also included in the new look is a display honoring the late Janelle McComb, a
Presley family friend who donated most of the artifacts and who died last year,
said Henry Dodge, chairman of the Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation of Tupelo.
The work started in October after the foundation - which oversees the museum and
birthplace - received funds for the project from the city and the Convention and
Visitors Bureau, which provided a combined $150,000. The foundation kicked in
$100,000 of its own and raised the remaining money from internal sources.
The museum will reopen by the Jan. 8 Elvis birthday celebration, when fans will
get free entrance to the birthplace house and a chance to see the museum at
regular admission price.

The Elvis Conspiracy? By Dick Grob Out Of Print, Now Available!
![]() |
The Elvis Conspiracy? explores the man, tells the story of his last days and
gives the reader the first real insight into a world of which very few were
privy.
What was it like to be a part of this world behind the famous music gates in
Memphis, Tennessee?
What exactly happened? How do you go about planning and executing the largest
funeral since President Kennedy's assassination?
The book details the events and decisions made August 16, 1977, and the days
that followed.
More importantly, The Elvis Conspiracy? details the players in this tragedy, the
actual events which took place, narrated by someone who was there.
Thanks to the author's police background and professionalism, he was able to
investigate the burning question proposed by Elvis' father and the world,
"Did Elvis Have to Die?"
About The Author:

Photo:
Dick Grob
Dick Grob was associated with Elvis Presley for over ten years, served as his
personal bodyguard and Chief of Security on every tour, trip and almost
everywhere else. After Elvis' death, he remained with the estate for a time as
Director of Security, working directly for Elvis' father, Vernon Presley.
Grob, an Air Force officer, served over ten years in law enforcement. Presently,
he operates his own successful consulting business.
During his career in law enforcement he received specialized training from the
FBI and worked security details in personal and dignitary protection. He also,
on occasion, worked with the CIA.
His credentials were well established when he took over protection for his
friend, Elvis.
Grob's specialized training in protection and investigation makes him eminently
qualified to relate and substantiate the facts revealed in this manuscript
concerning the death of the world's greatest superstar.
The Elvis Conspiracy? differs from the many other books published about Elvis.
The author refused to use a ghost writer and adamantly opposed any connection
with the "Me and Elvis" format used in so many previous books.
The reader will find no outside influence in this narrative. Although the
emotions and feeling of the author come through, you'll find "the facts, ma'am,
just the facts," as the thread weaving the tapestry of this story.

SOFA Entertainment.
Photo 1 :"It's phenomenal what's
in" the 1,045-hour Sullivan archive, says filmmaker Andrew Solt, who owns the
collection.
Photo 2: During rehearsal,
Elvis and Ed Sullivan discuss the upcoming performance
In 1990, rock filmmaker and archivist Andrew Solt took a big gamble. He put
everything on the line to purchase the rights to the complete archive of Ed
Sullivan television shows.
"Sullivan
was the big reach," says Solt, who bought the collection from the broadcasting
legend's family. "It was very scary, to be honest with you. I borrowed a lot of
money -- every penny it cost I had to borrow and, fortunately, it's worked out."
Since then, Solt, head of the Los Angeles-based SOFA Entertainment company, has
gone on to great success developing projects that include the landmark, 10-part
1995 documentary series, "The History of Rock 'n' Roll," as well as continuing
to purchase properties, like the entire run of 1970s staple "Don Kirshner's Rock
Concert."
But the 1,045-hour Sullivan archive is his focus. "It's phenomenal what's in there," says Solt. "We've produced 130 half-hour shows for cable and syndication, 13 hours for CBS, and done another 15 hours for home video and DVD."
The jewels
in the Sullivan crown, however, are the three shows Elvis Presley appeared on in
late 1956 and early 1957.
Prior to 1956, Presley had largely been a curious regional phenomenon burning up
Southern stages and airwaves.
His signing
to RCA that year and subsequent appearances on the Dorsey Brothers, Milton Berle
and Steve Allen shows set the table for his bow on the top-rated and highly
influential Sullivan CBS variety show.
Elvis' Sept. 9, 1956, appearance -- a program hosted by actor Charles Laughton,
subbing while Sullivan recovered from an auto accident -- was a cultural
watershed.
Viewed by a record 72 million Americans, Presley's loose, louche performance -- sandwiched in between spots by acrobats The Brothers Amin and pet performer Toby the Dog -- caused a seismic shift in the country's cultural zeitgeist.
It remains
one of the most significant moments in television history.
Remarkably, despite its historical value, the bulk of the material from the
Presley/Sullivan shows had never officially been released in any form.
"In fact, the full shows hadn't been seen since their original broadcast," says
Solt. "People had seen moments from some of the songs, but the full context of
these programs was never known. So that was the challenge and the whole fun of
doing a project like this."
With the critical and commercial success of his 2003 DVD release of the complete
broadcasts of the Beatles' appearances on Ed Sullivan, Solt was able to persuade
the Elvis Presley estate to go ahead with the project.
He began
work in late 2004 getting together the elements for "Elvis: The Ed Sullivan
Shows," a three-disc package that was released late last month via Image
Entertainment.
Chief among the challenges in putting together the Presley set was improving the
quality of the Sullivan source material.
From its debut -- originally as "Toast of the Town" -- in 1948 until 1958, Sullivan's show was filmed on kinescope.
Prior to
the development of videotape, live television programs were saved with a
specially modified camera that would film the show off a TV monitor. This
typically meant that the resulting kinescopes were of less-than-stellar visual
quality, and prone to considerable image loss over time.
In 2005, Solt was approached by Kevin Segura, president of RerunMedia, an
Oregon-based company that specializes in kinescope processing.
Using a
proprietary digital process called LiveFeed that works to improve images frame
by frame, Segura managed to give the Sullivan shows a visual cleanup so dramatic
it's almost shocking.
"I was amazed by the quality of the samples he gave back to us," says Solt.
"It
was a 30 or 40 percent improvement over anything that's been seen. There was
better contrast, definition, depth of field, the outline was better -- and not
just on Elvis but the Jordanaires and D.J. (Fontana), and Scotty (Moore) and
Bill (Black)."
In total, it took Segura nine months to complete the process for all three
shows. Meanwhile, Solt worked on clearing rights to all the music, as well as
amassing the bonus material (which includes archival interviews with Sullivan
producer Marlo Lewis, the earliest known footage of Elvis performing at a
daytime show in Houston and a collection of Presley confidante Jerry Schilling's
home movies.)
Solt says he has more Presley DVDs in the works, including an upgrade of "Elvis:
The Great Performances" -- a three volume documentary series from the early '90s
that he produced.
Solt plans
on remastering the discs and adding bonus material and reissuing the discs after
the rights revert back to his company in early 2008.
One project that may not be making its way to DVD -- at least in the lavish form
that had been expected -- is Solt and Malcolm Leo's 1981 Presley documentary
"This Is Elvis." The film, a combination of archival news and performance
footage as well as dramatic re-creations, was released in a now out-of-print VHS
edition in 1982.
That version was different than what was seen in theaters and on television, as the producers could not get clearance to include "Are You Lonesome Tonight" on the video, thus robbing the film of its denouement, a scene of an aging, addled Presley struggling his way through the song's spoken-word recitation.
With that
rights issue cleared, Solt and Leo also decided that the new DVD version would
revamp the documentary's narrative by losing the majority of the re-creation
scenes -- featuring a handful of actors playing Presley throughout his life.
In August, British music magazine MOJO reported that a deluxe edition of "This
Is Elvis" -- featuring both the original theatrical version and a new director's
cut of the film plus bonus material -- would be released by Warner Bros.
in
August 2007, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Presley's death. But Solt
and project partner Malcolm Leo now say the deluxe DVD plans have been tabled by
Warner Bros., and they're uncertain in what, if any, form the disc will come out
next year.
"There was a great deal of planning, and initially the cooperation from Warner
Bros was terrific," says Leo.
"And then
we got into an assessment of how and when was the best time to do it --
obviously with the thirtieth anniversary of Elvis' death coming up, an
opportunity was there. But then suddenly certain cost issues came into play."
According to Solt, Warner's current policy on all new, expanded DVD projects is
to simultaneously ready a high-definition version of the film in order to meet
with that technology when it becomes more prominent in the next couple years.
"Unfortunately, 'This Is Elvis' is a patchwork of a thousand sources, so to go
back to every one of them and high-def them is a very, very expensive process,"
he says.
"The studio typically sees things in terms of a normal 35 millimeter feature film, but our film is not that -- it's a patchwork quilt.
Unfortunately,
as much as they understood that, they still wanted to upgrade to a level that
was going to be cost-prohibitive and which has ultimately doomed the project for
now."
A similar patchwork documentary, The Who's "The Kids Are Alright," was released
to much acclaim in an expanded edition in 2003, and Solt had hoped to do the
same for "This Is Elvis," utilizing the digital clean-up process brought to bear
on the Sullivan DVDs.
"We had ways of doing a beautiful new version that would've cost a third of what
they were suggesting, and that's what we wanted to do," he says.
"But they won't go forward unless they can spend the big bucks, and they can't afford to spend the big bucks, so there goes the project for right now."
Another
part of what doomed the expanded "This Is Elvis" may have been internal
financial issues with Warner Bros.
"The truth is they've had a rough year at Warners -- they've had so many budget
cuts," says Solt.
"I hate to
say it, but I think we got caught up in that." Leo's other pending Warner Bros.
project -- a DVD of the unseen screen tests for "Gone with the Wind" -- is also
in limbo, likely for the same reasons.
Warner Bros. would not comment specifically about "This Is Elvis."
But Warner Home Video representative Ronnie Sass did note that the company "plans on fully honoring Elvis in this coming 30th anniversary year.
With Warner
Bros. owning 17 Elvis films -- more than any other studio -- you can imagine
we'll be offering consumers some pretty wonderful choices."
In all likelihood, Warner's 30th anniversary Presley DVD rollout will include a
bare-bones release of "This Is Elvis," while a deluxe edition may yet come out
down the line.
"I have every reason to think that version will exist ultimately," says Leo.
"Of course, just when that will happen is hard to say."

Elvis Family Tree.
TUPELO - Most Elvis Presley fans people know where he was born - Tupelo.
They know where he went - worldwide.
But beyond Lisa Marie, Priscilla, Vernon and Gladys Presley, most folks don't
know Elvis' people.
A pair of Lee County fans and researchers aim to change that.
Julian
Riley of Verona and Rachel Anne Harden of Saltillo have been hiking through
cemeteries, rummaging through photo albums and talking with Elvis' kin to flesh
out the King of Rock 'n' Roll's family tree.
"I think you can safely say that Rachel and I know more about Elvis Presley's
tree than anyone else in the world," Riley said.
"You'd have to live here to do it," Harden added. "You couldn't live in Germany
or Denmark."
A longtime history buff, Riley owns the original Verona Town Hall, where Gladys Smith married Vernon Presley on June 17, 1933.
He talked
about the wedding on TV, and Harden, an Elvis fan, wanted to make sure he had
his facts right.
Once Riley convinced her of his case, the pair got to talking about a project
they could undertake together.
"We decided to trace his family all the way back to the Revolutionary War
period," Riley said.
"We're doing both sides of the family," Harden said.
They've applied bleach to tombstones throughout Lee and Itawamba counties, and
they've even repaired a few broken tombstones.
They've sat in people's homes, and talked about connections and birthdays.
"A lot of the people knew they were related to Elvis," Harden said, "but they
didn't know how. We told them how."
Carthey Presley Derrick was the granddaughter of Elvis's great-great-aunt,
Rosalinda Presley. Riley and Harden met Derrick about a month before she died.
"She let us go through all of her old pictures, and she called all her
relatives," Riley said. "She let us in, so to speak. She was such a big help to
us."
Derrick and her relatives will be included in a book and Web site that Riley and
Harden hope to finish by August in time for the 30th anniversary of Elvis'
death.
"Until then, we want to get as many stories as we can," Riley said, adding that
he and Harden may be contacted at:

Here some detailed Information from Praytome Press releases:
20 years of research and hard detective work and additional 18 months of pure production time have gone by.
Different than our other
productions which were most of the time advertised long before their release
dates we kept the work about this extreme and highly controversial topic
behind the curtain and over the years every little detail of this work has
been handled as top secret.
We never have
done a more exciting production work than on this new product. This time we
had to get our hands on information, paper work and facts which no one is
supposed to see. Never in the
past, we had to dig that deep to get out information and material we needed
for the project. Some members of
the team had to bring them selves into dangerous situations to get the hands
on things that were of high priority to finalise that outstanding
production. And on some
things you even don't want to know how we got the material that we used in
our new project. There were
times when we were not sure if we were able to finish that production.
Now we are in
the position that we can finally give you some information about one of the
most outstanding work we have ever compiled.
A 100-pages full-colour, hard cover book with the use of the outstanding, high quality paper stock being established as best choice
or books by our releases of the "Elvis - Behind The Image" & "Elvis - Born To Rock".
The prints will be as usual "National Geographic" quality standard. The pictures were cleaned and restored by a professional graphic historian so the best possible results are the logical consequence. The book comes with a print varnishing.
This method guarantees that (especially on pictures with dark areas) the fingerprints don't remain visible and so the single pages will always look new and unread. The new release will have the same great finish for what Praytome Publishing is famous for.
ELVIS PRESLEY - PATERNITY SUIT DVD
The DVD is NOT the usual "Bonus"-DVD Material, we talk about a full length 95 minutes DVD documentary
The outstanding and thrilling script of Bud Glass (author of "Elvis - Behind The Image") for the first time breaks down iron walls of silence and leads you
behind the scenes of one of the biggest sex scandals in history of music. The documentary is like an exciting thriller ( Movie ) and will put the viewer back and forth emotionally. The time of speculations about these events, taking place during the heighth of Elvis Presley's concert years, is over. Did Elvis have an illigitimate child or was he the victim of a well calculated extortion attempt ?
The book goes along this line and has original court documents and photos that allow your own research for the mystery behind the most controversial sex scandal in the history of music.
Published by "Praytome Publishing" this 100 pages, full colored, hardback book co-operates perfectly with the included full length 95 minutes DVD documentary and German subtitles for the documentary.

Wedding ring sold for 90.000 dollar.

The wedding ring that Elvis - supposedly - wore after his marriage with
Priscilla, fetched 90.000 dollar at the American 'Profiles in History' auction.
The estimated highest bid was over 100.000 dollar, but the fact that Graceland
doubted the authenticity, may have kept investors from bidding higher.
The absolute winner of the auction was the original lion outfit of the original
"Wizard of Oz": that suit went for 700.000 dollar.
Note:
Washington, Dec 12 (ANI): Rock and Roll legend Elvis Presley was so determined to save his stepbrother David Stanley's marriage, that he even gave the couple his one-of-a-kind diamond wedding ring. The ring, which will soon be going under the hammer at Profiles In History auction house, was given by The King to Stanley and his wife Angela because he was so upset that the couple's marriage was collapsing.
Auction house boss Joseph M Maddalena revealed that the singer, who was reportedly opposed to the couple's split after the experience of his own divorce, even called David and Angela into a mediation, and listed out the reasons why they should not call it quits.
"Elvis called his stepbrother and his wife Angela into a mediation six months before he died and he gave her his wedding ring as a token of his affection. He told them why they shouldn't get a divorce," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.
However, Elvis' involvement didn't have the desired effects, and after the couple split, Angela gave the ring to the Elvis Presley Museum in the 1980s. It was later bought by Maddalena's co-signer and found its way to the auction block.
"Unfortunately, Elvis' intervention didn't work and the two later split. Angela kept the ring and then gave it to the now defunct Elvis Presley Museum in the 1980s. My co-signer bought it from the museum after it closed its doors a decade ago," Maddalena said.
Maddalena also has proof of the ring's authenticity, for it comes with a letter from Angela, Angela, her ex, the jeweller who made the ring and delivered it to Elvis at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.
"It (ring) has a letter from Angela, her ex, the jeweller who made the ring and delivered it to Elvis at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.
I even have a letter from Elvis' best man Joe Esposito who oversaw the wedding ceremony in a freight elevator at the Aladdin," he added.
Maddalena is now hoping that the ring
will fetch between 100,000 dollars and 150,000 dollars went it is auctioned
later this week, 14-15 December. (ANI)

Elvis Piano Expected To Fetch US$2m.

On Christmas Eve, someone's going to win Elvis Presley's Knabe & Co. grand
piano. But it won't come cheap.
A fellow
from Palm Springs, Calif., has put up $225,100, and that trumps a bid from
Atlanta by $100.
"We just turned down an offer of $1 million for it," said Daniel Jelladian, CEO
of FreeSell.com, where the King's piano is on auction.
"The guy
called to ask us to stop the auction for $1 million."
Jelladian said he expects the piano to fetch more than $2 million, and he has
reason to believe.
John Lennon once said, "Before Elvis there was nothing." In this case, before
Elvis' piano went on the block, Lennon's sold for $2.08 million.
"We're
getting people contacting us from all over the world," Jelladian said. "We've
gotten e-mails from Japan."
The piano is currently at FreeSell.com's headquarters in Fresno, Calif., and it
has been in private hands since 1990.
Before that, it was housed at the Elvis O-Rama museum in Las Vegas, Jelladian said.
According to a history at www.freesell.com, the piano was built in 1911. From the 1930s to 1957, it was in Memphis' Ellis Auditorium and Performance Hall, where musical greats such as W.C. Handy, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Cab Calloway played it.
Elvis
bought it in 1957. The authenticity is guaranteed by the seller, and there are
signed affidavits, photos and receipts posted at the auction site.
"We've never had an item as important as this piano," Jelladian said.
In the end, there can be only one winner of the auction that ends on Christmas
Eve, but take heart because there's still plenty of choice Elvis memorabilia out
there.
"We're planning another auction," Jelladian said. "We also have his guitar and
his peacock jumpsuit and the suit he wore in 'Clambake.'"

Elvis musical on tour.
After a run of less than 6 months on
Broadway, the Elvis musical "All Shook Up" is now touring the States.
Lead
performer Cheyenne Jackson is no longer in the team.
Jackson was praised by critics, but the show itself drew mixed reviews and not
every evening was sold out.
The road version, starring Joe Mandragona as Chad, is selling much better —
thanks in good measure to a songlist that includes "Don't Be Cruel," "Heartbreak
Hotel" and other Elvis faves.
There are no plans for a European tour at this stage.

About the "Elvis Wedding Ring" Currently Up for Auction.

The "Elvis wedding ring" that is presently publicized for auction by the
Profiles in History auciton house is said to have left Elvis's possession when
he gave it to an entourage member, David Stanley and his wife – reportedly a
sweet gesture of goodwill from Elvis late in his life, wishing the Stanleys the
best in their marriage several years after his own marriage had ended. The
auction has inspired news coverage and quite a bit of speculation on various
Elvis fan sites and message boards.
Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. have no concrete
documentation of their own to put them in a position to verify the story of the
gift or the authenticity of the ring as having once belonged to Elvis, or to
express any doubt about it. However, a couple of points beg clarification.
If the ring being auctioned did indeed belong to Elvis, then it would have to be
Elvis's "second" wedding ring - the one Priscilla gave Elvis as a replacement
when he lost his original one at their ranch in Mississippi not too long after
their wedding. Elvis's original wedding ring had become loose on his finger and
he was concerned that it might slip off while he was working on the ranch, so he
tied it to a kerchief around his neck.
The ring ultimately fell from the kerchief, which Elvis did not notice at the moment it happened. After much searching, the ring was not found. Priscilla soon gave Elvis another ring to replace his original. The second ring was of a completely different design, such as the one presently being auctioned.
Also, in some news stories the ring that is being auctioned has been
misidentified as the one Elvis gave to Priscilla on their wedding day. This is
not true and the auction company is not the source of that misinformation.
Priscilla still has her wedding and engagement rings from Elvis and treasures
them.

Sandi Pichons New Book Will Be Out By The First Quarter Of 2007.

Sandi Pichon is working on her new
book about our man.
After the huge success and the positive criticism on my first book (Raised on
Elvis! Elvis! Elvis!) I have decided to write another book.
My first book dealed mainly with my personal memories how I met Elvis at the beginning of the 50s and later in the 70s visited over hundred of his sold out concerts.
My second
book will be an illustrated book, dealing with the concert years of the late
Elvis 1970 - 1977.
Because I attach great importance to the quality of my books, there could only
be one address for where my book should be produced and released.
When it comes to Elvis releases "Praytome Publishing" is the standard in all quality concerns. From the actual print, the paper to the complex picture restoration this company has set new standards during the last years.
In the tradition of the book "Elvis - Born To Rock" (Bud Glass), which was ground-breaking in terms of quality, cost/performance ratio and content, I want to open another chapter in the Elvis world.
I was not
only able to win the "Behind The Image - Team" for this project, but was also
able to get famous photographers like my good friend Keith Alverson, who
contributed a lot of great photos.
The release date is the first quarter of 2007 and during Elvis week 2007 me and
the complete Team will be in Memphis, and will be available for signing
autographs.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all in person and I hope all Elvis fans will
like my new book.

The King's crown for sale...
Memphis, Tennessee - The family of former Memphis dentist Dr. Henry Weiss will put a model of Elvis Presley's teeth and a crown made for the star, still revered by millions around the world, up for auction on e-Bay beginning January 8, 2007 - the date of what would have been Presley's 72nd birthday. Presley died unexpectedly on August 16, 1977. Weiss was Presley's dentist through 1971. He affectionately called the crown the "King's Crown." The model and crown will be accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by Joe Esposito, Presley's Road Manager from 1960 until his death in 1977. The Weiss Family will put the item up for auction.
In his letter, Esposito states, "On several occasions we went to Elvis' dentist,
Dr. Henry Weiss, whose offices were located in the 430 Dermon Building in
downtown Memphis. He did any and all dental work including the preparation of a
porcelain crown for Elvis' front tooth. Dr. Weiss always kept an extra crown on
the model of Elvis Presley's teeth in the event that he might chip or crack his
crown. In February of 1971, Elvis cracked his crown on a microphone while
performing at the International Hotel, currently known as the Hilton Hotel - Las
Vegas. Dr. Weiss' son, S. Lewis Weiss, flew a replacement crown to Las Vegas."
Esposito's letter goes on to authenticate and certify that Dr. Henry Weiss was
Presley's dentist through 1971 and that members of the Weiss family are, in
fact, in possession of the model of Presley's teeth and the porcelain "King's
Crown." Esposito was a member of the so-called "Memphis Mafia" - the nickname of
a group of Elvis' friends and employees.
Dr. Henry Weiss was born on Christmas day, 1907 and died December 11, 1990. He
graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry with a DDS
Degree in 1931. He practiced dentistry in Memphis for 57 years and was a
recipient of the Tennessee Dental Association's Fellowship Award.

"THE GOSPEL SIDE OF ELVIS delves into a sorely neglected aspect of Elvis’s life
and career explaining why Gospel music was the heart and soul of the “king of

Gospel music was a signifi cant part of not only who Elvis became as a man, but
as an artist as well. As Elvis mania continues to consume generation after

his foundational years, as well as the comfort, solace, and strength it offered
him in the years of his meteoric rise in popularity.
THE GOSPEL SIDE OF ELVIS.

ELVIS: ENTERTAINER OR EDUCATOR?
![]() |
ELVIS: "The perfect singing machine" says top voice coach Renee Grant-Wiliams
With Elvis Presley’s seventy-second birthday just around the corner on the
eighth of January, it would seem there would be little new to learn about him,
but it turns out there is.
Although he may not have realized it, Elvis Presley’s sexy moves actually
modeled the ideal physical techniques for supporting a rich, warm singing voice
– techniques still studied today by some of the recording industry’s biggest
stars.
“Elvis was the perfect singing machine,” says celebrity voice coach Renee
Grant-Williams. “He had all the right moves.”
“I constantly reference Elvis in my teaching,” claims Grant-Williams. “
He had very strong legs, which he used as the basis for his support. He literally pushed into the floor using that karate-type crouch.
He kept his entire upper body very loose so that it could resonate.
And the way
he cocked his head over the microphone really allowed the sound to vibrate
freely.”
“Did he know what he was doing?” Grant-Williams asks. “Probably not, but he had
extraordinary instincts and in his own way, I think he truly studied singing.
He
used to sit out on the back porch for hours on late summer nights with the
guitar his mother gave him, trying to imitate the singers he heard at gospel
churches and nightclubs.”
Grant-Williams teaches the wisdom of using Elvis’ techniques to stars such as
Hannah Montana, Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Larry Gatlin, Bo Bice,
and Huey Lewis.
“My students are surprised and grateful to have someone familiar they can relate
to,” Grant-Williams says.
“In
fact, the first time I worked with Tim McGraw on using his body to support his
voice, he looked up with mischief in his eyes and mumbled in true Elvis-style,
“Thank you. Thankyouverymuch.”
Grant-Williams feels that even Elvis’ famous lip curl gave his voice an edge.
“As sound leaves the body it needs to resonate against something specific,” she says. “There are options – you can direct that flow of sound to the nose, the throat, the jaw or to the sinus cavities in the face.
But, I
think what Elvis did – as evidenced by his lip curl – was to aim the vibration
stream right at his teeth.”
“This was ingenious,” Grant-Williams says. “There’s a kind of sweet spot at the
front of the teeth where vibrations can focus and still pick up resonance from
all the other areas.”
“Because his moves and techniques live on, Elvis will never completely leave the
building,” adds Grant-Williams.

Judgment And Grace In Dixie - Southern Faiths From Faulkner To Elvis.
(ISBN: 0820329657)
"Religion, culture, and the modern South
Religion has permeated nearly every aspect of modern southern culture, with
results that range from portraits of Jesus on black velvet to the soul-stirring
orations of Martin Luther King Jr.
In Judgment
and Grace in Dixie, Charles Reagan Wilson makes a lively appraisal of religion's
influence on such expressions of regional life as literature, music, and folk
art, as well as on such public spectacles as football games and beauty pageants.
Wilson's focus is on popular religion—evangelical Protestantism as embraced at
the grassroots level, where distinctions between the sacred and secular are
blurred and belief in the supernatural remains strong.
As he traces the development and meaning of popular religion and pop culture, Wilson ranges widely across a spiritual landscape rich in iconic accumulations of people, places, events, and artifacts—church fans and Elvis Presley memorabilia, the painting of Howard Finster and the songs of Hank Williams, the Scopes trial and the death of Bear Bryant."

Memorabilia collection outside Graceland.
The exhibition will also include never before seen photos from the early days of
“Rock and Roll” together with very rare footage of Elvis’ family, entourage, the
Memphis Mafia and Hollywood cast members.
The exhibition is set to open by the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, in August

The museum dedicated to the life, loves and legacy of Elvis Presley, will
present the collection of over 250 items of Elvis Presley memorabilia in a form
allowing the visitor to experience the life of Elvis Presley from poverty to

The center will be home to a multi-media museum presenting rock & roll, Elvis
Presley, and their combined role in shaping the worlds music culture.
It will be fully developed into a complete entertainment complex including
restaurants, shops and shows by 2008, way before the 2012 Olympics in London.

ELVIS PRESLEY’S CENTER COURTS TENNIS CLUB BANNERS FOR AUCTION.

A HIGHLY IMPORTANT SILK EMBROIDERED WALL HANGING BANNER. ELVIS PRESLEY
CENTER COURTS APRIL 1976, RACQUET BALL AND HAND BALL COURTS.
ANOTHER PRESLEY T.C.B Center COURTS RACQUET BALL AND HAND BALL CLUB BANNER. This banner hung across the gable end of the Center Courts Club House. Green velvet background with tennis racquets and writing in relief. Bears printing on reverse: “TENNIS TECHNIQUE, Los Angeles”
THE ELVIS PRESLEY KARATE
CLUB BANNER. April 21st 1976, entitled “The beginning”, on yellow gold silk
with sequins and gold embroidery. With the motto: “Be gentle as lambs in
matters of love and strong as tigers in matters of honor.”
Auction on December 13,
2006 at John Nicholson Auctioneers of Fernhurst.
In 1976 Elvis Presley entered in to his sole business venture and investment
– The Presley Center Courts Racquet Ball Club in Memphis Tennessee. Land was
purchased in Memphis with plans to open also in Nashville and across the
USA, a very important ‘out of music’ investment.
The Bank of Commerce in Memphis appears to have placed a first charge on
Graceland to secure construction financing. As Elvis’s close friends, known
as the ‘Memphis Mafia’, arranged for their contractor, designers and experts
in the field of tennis and racquet ball courts, construction bit into some
one million dollars plus – before even braking ground! Both Elvis and Col.
Parker became alarmed, far away in Bel Aire, California.
Business cards were printed for all executive officers of the newly formed
Presley Center Courts. Memberships were offered to Memphis VIP residents.
Bank accounts were opened and charge accounts billed to Elvis Presley
Enterprises Inc. without permission.
With Elvis away in California, his new project was clocking up massive
amounts of money.
The grand opening was April 1976 to be attended by Elvis and his Beauty
Queen girlfriend Linda Thomason.
Upon arrival Elvis was presented with a special gift of a custom made wall
banner bearing the famous ‘Taking Care of Business’ lightning bolt together
with the ‘Tree of Life’ with 14KT gold bullion names of each member of
Presley’s inner circle in the ‘Memphis Mafia’, another larger work which
hung across the gable end of the Center Courts Club House and a smaller
banner for the Karate Club that was to developed later.
Elvis accepted the gift not knowing at the time that it had been charged to
the costume and stage-ware account of his Hollywood tailor and costume
maker. Some months passed until Elvis was fully aware of what was happening
with his line of credit.
Upon Elvis giving his blessing to this project private investors started
buying in. Some of Elvis’s cousins and close friends mortgaged their homes
to become involved.
As time went by costs are believed to have passed four million dollars and
Elvis was in fear of losing his beloved Graceland until he paid back the
bank in full.
Richard Calhoun, a well-known oil promoter and friend of Col. Tom Parker
(Elvis’s manager) met with Elvis and Parker in 1976 and agreed to buy out
70% of the company, not knowing at the time the trouble that it was in.
Elvis was so happy that he presented Calhoun with his 14KT bullion banner
and the two others, stating “Mr Calhoun, you can still use my family name
but not Elvis and I will always be available to promote this franchise”.
Within just seven days the truth was out. Calhoun and Parker pulled out
their investment, while Elvis was obligated to repay the Bank of Commerce
over one and a half million dollars.
Bad feeling were escalated and Elvis would close ranks to just the chosen
few in his “Memphis Mafia” circle.
The Presley Center Courts briefly opened but poor membership and bad
management resulted in closure during the summer of 1976. It is now a gun
club and shooting range.
The 14KT bullion banner has been incased with a unique Andy Warhol Factory
silkscreen frame, which was constructed at New Hope Penna by Rupert Jasen
Smith. The banners have remained together since being sold by Richard
Calhoun, who died in Hollywood shortly after Elvis.
The three banners formed a display for a time at the Elvis Presley
Collection in Las Vegas, they were later displayed at both the Hilton and
Mirage Hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
The 1996 Olympics in Atlanta featured an Elvis Memories Exhibition “Welcome
To My World” with twenty-two Presley’s Center Courts mementos.
Only a few business cards and the banners are now left to tell the tale of
Presley Center Courts. They are unique pieces of Elvis Presley memorabilia.

with numbers that were important in the career of Elvis.
Along the way we'll test your knowledge of Elvis trivia with a few numbers
loyal Elvis fans would know.
We'll also talk once again with Ben Weisman who in his career composed 57
songs for Elvis.
I think you'll enjoy this very special edition of The Elvis Hour.

This Week's TV Guides.

They are hitting newstands now and the cd-rom has excellent cross-promotion for
both Elvis and the 'Las Vegas' tv series.
The CD rom is great. The video, and photo slide show are nice, and links to
Elvis.com, the Elvis Christmas CD, and the Las Vegas page with unseen
footage....plus the 68 Comeback Blue Christmas video are cool....as is the
overall design once you load it in your PC.
This is an excellent example of cross-promotion between Graceland/EPE, Sony BMG
and a 3rd Party and can't wait to see the Elvis Themed show on Dec 15!!
Of course Elvis already had a great tie-in with the 'Las Vegas' show as Little
Less Conversation is used as the opening song and is both the opening and
closing song on the excellent 'Las Vegas' soundtrack that came out last year.
If you haven't picked up the tv guides, they are hitting the stores right now.
There is a good article about the Las Vegas Elvis themed show insided and there
is also a full page ad for the new Elvis Christmas CD ' Elvis Christmas'

Night Out With Elvis Incredible, Unprovable.
By Art Buchwald.
Over the years I have met a lot of important people, but no one as important as Elvis Presley.
Whenever I am interviewed, I mention that I went out one night with Elvis Presley in Paris.
He was in
his Army uniform, on leave from Germany, and I offered to be his guide in Paris.
I took him to the Lido nightclub and introduced him to all the Bluebell Girls.
The chorus was in love with Elvis and the girls outdid themselves to get close
to him.
I wanted to get in on the action, so I kept telling the girls, "I'm his best
friend." They weren't as impressed with that as I was hoping they would be.
But people who have interviewed me over the years certainly have been impressed
with my night on the town with him. In Elvis' Army days, he was very clean cut,
and he behaved the way GIs were expected to behave. He said things like, "Yes,
sir" and "No, sir."
Just the other day I was interviewed for a story, and sure enough, the
interviewer brought up Elvis' name and couldn't believe I had been in that close
a relationship with him.
People don't want to hear about General de Gaulle, President Kennedy or Frank Sinatra.
They
weren't that important, compared to the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
A picture was taken of the two of us, but I can't find it. People just have to
take my word for it.
This is how it all happened.....
Elvis was staying at the Hotel George V. I went there to interview him and at
one point I asked, "What are you doing tonight?"
He said, "Nothing, sir."
I said, "Come out with me and I'll show you Paris."
He said, "That would be very nice, sir. No one has offered to take me out in
Paris."
I said, "That's because they don't know you're here. We'll just go out, the two
of us, so we won't be bothered by a lot of fans." (I meant his, not mine.)
I came home for dinner and told my wife, "I'm going out with Elvis Presley
tonight."
She didn't believe it.
I said, "He asked to go out with me. He's in Paris all alone and I'd be doing
our country a service by showing him around."
My wife didn't like the idea of the two of us going out on the town. She said,
"I'd like to come along."
I told her, "I promised Elvis it would only be the two of us."
She said, "Why didn't you bring him here for dinner?"
I said, "That's not Paris."
I recall now her saying to my children, "Do you know who Daddy's going out with
tonight?"
They asked, "Who?"
My wife said, "I can't tell you, but you have his records in your room."
I picked Elvis up at his hotel and told him the Lido had the best show in town
and I could get him the best table.
After the show was over, we went backstage and that's when all the fun began.
Elvis was shy and he didn't gyrate his hips, as he did later, on television.
Everyone who has interviewed me wants a complete description of how he performed
that night.
I have been living off Elvis Presley ever since.
To this day, when people ask me what was my greatest night in Paris, I tell them
it was at the Lido with the King.
If only I could find that damn photo.

The Mystic life of Elvis Presley: How the web was woven.

Why has
noone ever explored the possibility of Elvis being under the control of a 'gnostic
fellowship' organisation?
His specially designed suits and jewelry all seem to suggest that he was under
the influence of a mystic organisation called 'the Rosicrucians'.
We know Elvis read loads of books about mysticism, gnostic philosophy and kabbalah, he was a patriot and eager to serve the 'greater good', in other words a perfect candidate for any mystical fraternity.
Elvis's ex wife and daughter are members of the sectarian Scientology Church, in the biography "Elvis Aaron Presley: Revelations From The Memphis Mafia" it is said that Elvis spoke out against this organization but this may be the cover-up to one of the greatest crime and mystery in modern history.
If you enter a Hermetic organization you swear an oath of secrecy and the
control over your personal life is taken over by 'the brotherhood'.
This possibility provides us with a complete new outlook on Elvis's life and
death.

Details On The FTD SUN Project.
"A general overview of the FTD `Sun box set` is that it will include a good
amount of unreleased material, including studio sessions (everything we have in
the vaults), live recordings (newly restored) including amongst others, the
unreleased Meridian, May 1955 performance where Bill goes crazy and Elvis is
really rocking!
Plus interviews, demos, radio ads and off course the odd surprise!
The book section is a massive project, including such items as the first known colour photo of Elvis in 1954 to unpublished Sun session tape notes and off course many, many more unseen goodies!
The set is now in its final stages of completion.

EPE GREED COULD SPELL END FOR TOUR?
The latest
edition of the Elvisly Yours Cyberclub newsletter has an interesting article by
Sid Shaw which claims that the recent "Elvis In Concert" tour of Australia lost
so much money that it is unlikely to tour again and that EPE charge such
extortionate fees that it is making the show unattractive to promoters.
In the article Shaw writes:
"Although the fans loved “Elvis in Concert” on its recent tour Down Under it lost money for the promoters and is unlikely to tour again. It is a very expensive Concert because EPE are so greedy charging huge fees.
Unless you can fill auditoriums it is very risky for promoters and ticket prices are too high.
Rumour has
it the TCB band may be replaced by younger musicians" (originally announced on
Elvis Express).
Attracting promoters “Elvis in Concert” could go on forever replacing all the
original musicians and backing singers but EPE would have to make it much more
attractive for promoters and fans.
If they
want too much to book a Show and promoters have to charge too much for ticket
prices there will be no more shows after Memphis in August 2007."
Also according to Shaw, there have been many complaints from Elvis’ original
entourage about the way they are being treated by EPE and some have indicated
that they probably won't be performing next August in Memphis.
If these claims are true then EPE need to do a major re-think, otherwise we will
soon be seeing the demise of a wonderful concert experience and be left with EPE
holding impersonator concerts instead......Oh too late!

Sheila Ryan has Written New Book on Elvis.

Sheila Ryan in Playboy October 1973.
Sheila Ryan Caan has written a new book on her relationship with Elvis and the three years she was the constant companion of the 'King'.
The book promises a whole new take on the public's general perception of Elvis
and his so-called Memphis Mafia and personal details abound.
The story begins when the 20 year-old runaway is plucked out of the Las Vegas concert audience by one of Elvis' minions and brought backstage.
After a little innocent flirting Ryan went home, only to be summoned back to Elvis' presence as soon as she answered the phone.
She never
went back to her apartment again.
Sheila Ryan Caan was subsequently married to James Caan and is the mother of
actor Scott Caan.

A Treasure Trove Of Guitars -- And Elvis' Grass Skirt.
The Seminoles will get control of one the world's largest collections of rock
'n' roll memorabilia -- about 70,000 items from musical artists.
The collection boasts guitars from the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley,
Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi and the Ramones.
Clothing includes John Lennon's army jacket worn on the Imagine album and his
"Live in NYC" glasses, Johnny Cash's boots, a vintage fabric tank top worn by
Gwen Stefani, a black blazer worn by Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix's pants and
Dolce & Gabbana rhinestone shoes worn by Madonna.
Some obscure objects are Elvis Presley's grass skirt and lei from the movie Blue
Hawaii and a kilt worn by Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses. Platinum and gold records,
posters and album art are also displayed.
Hard Rock's collection is rotated throughout its numerous locations and is
constantly expanding, said Deborah Sierchio of Coyne Public Relations, a
spokeswoman for Hard Rock International.
Clapton donated the first piece of memorabilia to Hard Rock shortly after its
London cafe opened.
The cafe was one of Clapton's hangouts and he asked the staff whether he could
hang his guitar -- a burgundy Fender Lead II -- to mark his favorite barstool.
A week later, Pete Townshend of The Who sent a package to the cafe with a note,
"Mine's as good as his! Love, Pete."

Investor Eyes Elvis' Fave Libertyland For Future Amusement Park.
A Kansas investor is considering developing an amusement park at the former site
of Libertyland, where Elvis Presley often rode his favorite roller coaster.
Robert Barnard, whose company owns Joyland Amusement Park in Wichita, Kan., has
issued a letter of intent to the city of Memphis to put $5 million during a
36-month lease into the Libertyland property at the Mid-South Fairgrounds for a
park to be opened by May 31.
"No public money, and that's a good situation," said the city's chief financial
officer, Robert Lipscomb, who oversees the Mid-South Fairgrounds redevelopment
project.
Libertyland closed last year after several seasons of falling attendance and
financial losses. The park's rides were auctioned off, including Elvis' beloved
Zippin Pippin wooden coaster. Barnard said his plans include a water park, and
he wants the deal to include the Zippin Pippin and a century-old hand-carved
carousel owned by the city. A pair of Nashville collectors bought the coaster in
June and announced in October they had sold it to the tourism bureau in Roanoke
Rapids, N.C.
The letter of intent is not binding but is a precursor to a formal development
agreement. It proposes a minimum annual lease payment of $90,000 and maximum not
to exceed 2.5 percent of gross revenue. It also includes an option to purchase
the land. The Memphis City Council must approve any deal for the Libertyland
property and will take up the issue on Dec. 19. City Councilman Scott McCormick,
chairman of the parks committee, said he likes the amusement park idea but
prefers leasing the land to selling it.
"That might be a sticking point in selling the property to them," McCormick
said. "I'm not really looking to sell off all the fairgrounds."

Bald Elvis All Shook Up.

Bald, climbing out of a coffin, cooking burgers on stage...But Elvis
impersonator says "It's not disrespectful."
The world's only bald, Welsh-speaking, Elvis tribute act has been left all shook
up after receiving death threats.
Geraint Benney said he had been receiving the threats from extreme Elvis fans
who claim he is showing disrespect to "The King".
Benney, 34, from Aberdare, in south Wales, said one fan had even threatened to
shoot him.
He said:
"Some people think my act is disrespectful because I am bald, but being bald
makes me stand out.
"If Elvis were alive today I am sure he would have a good old laugh. It's a
great pity his fans cannot see that."
Benney, whose stage name is Elvis Preseli, added: "Anyway, he might even be bald
himself now because he would be 71."
He said he had no plans to give up his show, which involves him cooking burgers
on stage.
The show charts the music scene since Elvis' death and begins with Benney
climbing out of a gold coffin.
He doesn't actually sing any Elvis songs, only songs by other artists which have
come out since his death.
Benney's manager, Andrew Chainey, said the threats had been coming in since
Benney performed at the Elvis Festival in Porthcawl, south Wales.

PRESLEY Vs JACKSON - WHO IS THE
TRUE KING OF POP?
![]() |

Michael Jackson proclaimed himself the “King of Pop” whereas; Elvis Presley was
named the “King” by the media and the music industry.
So who is really the “King of Pop”? – Well, according to today’s youth, the only
way to measure true pop success is through the “POP”
charts
and so this is the way we will look at the facts.
We will look at the 2 acts entire careers and also the first 21 years of each
career – Elvis 1956 – 1977 and Jackson 1972 – 1993. This is for those who would
argue that Elvis has been around longer than Jackson.

ELVIS PRESLEY BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE.

Featuring: ROBERT GORDON
Performing Classic ELVIS & Robert Gordon Favorites!
For more than 30 years, ROBERT GORDON has
been one of the defining musical influences of his generation. Delivering his
vocals with power and intensity, he has created a unique rock & roll attitude –
driven by love, hurt, sadness and absolute conviction.
Long before the first rehearsals of The Stray Cats and the numerous rockabilly
bands that followed, ROBERT GORDON reinvented the rockabilly sound of the ‘50s
and introduced it to the punk rock audiences of the ‘70s.
After a stint in bands like the Tuff Darts in the ‘70s, Gordon pursued a solo
career and began performing raucous rockabilly, the music he grew up on in
Washington, D.C.
He paired up with veteran guitarist Link Wray for his first two albums, “Robert Gordon with Link Wray and Fresh Fish Special”.
Fresh Fish Special also featured Elvis Presley back-up singers The Jordanaires. These critically-acclaimed records were released during punk’s heyday and were subsequently embraced by that scene.
Besides his own songs, Gordon covered songs made famous by Johnny Horton, Bill Monroe, Gene Vincent and Billy Lee Riley, as well as songs by Bruce Springsteen, Marshall Crenshaw and John Lennon.

Following is a press release from Belmont University:
BELMONT UNIVERSITY TO HOST
ELVIS TRIBUTE AT THE RYMAN IN AUGUST ‘07
“Belmont University Presents ‘Nashville Celebrates Elvis’”
Part of Official 30th Anniversary of Elvis’ Death
Show To Benefit Music Business Students at Belmont’s Mike Curb College of
Entertainment & Music Business in Honor of Music Industry Pioneer Cecil
Scaife
Belmont University
today announced it will host “Belmont University Presents ‘Nashville
Celebrates Elvis," a benefit show at the historic Ryman Auditorium on August
18, 2007—two days after the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, August 16,
1977—in honor of Cecil Scaife, music industry pioneer and one of the early
visionaries of Belmont’s first music business program. Proceeds will go to
the “Cecil Scaife Music Business Scholarship Fund” to help music business
students who are attending Belmont’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment &
Music Business. In celebration of Elvis’ association with the early days of
Nashville’s music industry, the show will feature Elvis songs performed by
select celebrity artists who have recorded, performed or been influenced by
his music.
“We are thrilled to be able to recognize Cecil’s contributions as a pioneer
in the music industry at large as well as to our music business program
which he helped launch in the seventies,” said Dr. Robert Fisher, president
of Belmont University. “What better way to acknowledge Cecil than to host
this exciting event giving tribute to Elvis and his music.”
Scaife, along with several others on Music Row, helped start Belmont’s music
business program in 1971 with his long-time friend Robert [Bob] Mulloy, one
of the first instructors at Belmont who guided the program through its early
years. Mulloy and Scaife worked in many of the recording studios in
Nashville in the early sixties, including Sun Studio, the third full-track
recording studio in town, CBS and RCA Victor Studio B where, at the time,
Elvis was recording some of his most popular hits, such as “It’s Now or
Never” (1960), “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” (1960), “Crying in the Chapel”
(1960), and “Little Sister” (1961).
“The best part of this event,” says Cecil’s daughter LaRawn Scaife, “is that
all of the dollars we raise will go to benefit Belmont University music
business majors. I can’t think of a more appropriate way to honor all that
my father has done for music education, music business and the entertainment
industry. I am proud of his legacy and he is thrilled to be honored.”
Scaife began his career in the entertainment
business in the early fifties when he worked for KFFA Radio in Helena,
Arkansas. Soon afterward, he worked for Sam Phillips (an early prominent
record producer who helped launch Elvis’ career) as the first promotions
manager at Sun Records in Memphis. There he worked
with Elvis, Charlie Rich, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.
During that time, he had the honor of presenting Johnny Cash with his
first Gold Record for “I Walk the Line.” Scaife started “taking
Elvis on the road,” according to daughter LaRawn, early in his career
starting with an appearance at a Catholic center in Helena, Arkansas.
“My father [Cecil] was one of the first in the industry to recognize
that music was more than just a source of fun and entertainment, but
also “big” business requiring the astute use of marketing, money and
product management, and education,” she says.
Passionate about education, Scaife was instrumental in establishing the
music business program at Belmont which continues to serve as a model
for schools across the nation and around the world. In addition, he
served on the Television Broadcasting Committee at Stetson University in
Deland, Florida, which focused on providing a television studio for the
college. He taught classes at Belmont, where three of his children
attended and established a music scholarship in honor of his wife,
Sherytha, who was the first curator at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Scaife was one of the original founders of the Gospel Music Association.
He created one of the first gospel labels in the nation in the
sixties—Songs of Faith—which celebrated the Gospel Music Industry’s
first million selling record, “Sorry I Never Knew You.” Before moving to
Nashville, he managed America’s first all-girl radio station for
Phillips. He also appeared on Broadway. When he encouraged Elvis to join
him, Elvis responded, “Scaife, I don’t know nothin’ about that actin’.
What I really need is a manager,” but Scaife went on to Hollywood
instead, appearing in films.
Scaife’s other achievements include having served on the National Board
of Governors/Grammy Awards Committee; serving as a lifetime elector to
the Country Music Hall of Fame Committee, a member of the Country Music
Association and the National Association of Recording Merchandisers. He
also served as president of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording
Academy (NARAS) and was responsible for bringing in his friend, Dick
Clark, to host the Nashville segment of the Grammy Awards Show. He is
commended for serving on President Nixon’s council to combat drug abuse
in the entertainment industry; chairing the music division and being
recognized by the Religious Heritage of America for his work.
Cecil Scaife’s son Joe produced the infamous “Achy Breaky Heart” by
Billy Ray Cyrus and more recently “Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson.
Among Joe Scaife’s other credits are: his work with Alabama, Shania
Twain and Montgomery Gentry. Joe also had the honor of recording the
last Grand Ole Opry show performed at the Ryman; and the first one at
the new Grand Ole Opry House at Opryland.
“Belmont University Presents ‘Nashville Celebrates Elvis’” is part of a
larger celebration including a number of activities surrounding the
official 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death in August 2007.

Elvis.Com Interview with Gary Scott Thompson.
Q. Let's start at the beginning. For awhile, the re-release of "A Little Less
Conversation" was the opening song for your show. Was that your idea?
A. Yes. I had always wanted to use an Elvis song and it happened to come along
at the perfect time - it was between that remix and "Rubberneckin," but "A
Little Less Conversation" was perfect for the show at the time.
Q. Are you an Elvis fan?
A. Big Elvis fan! I love all his movies and have an original poster from "Viva
Las Vegas" in my "Vegas" bathroom. When I was a kid, my parents were Elvis fans
and we would put an Elvis record on and dance all over the house.
Q. Did you ever see him live?
A. Once we were actually going to Las Vegas so my parents were going to get
tickets for all of us. My sisters talked them into going to see someone else and
I don't even remember who it was. I never got another chance. I am still mad at
them about that!
Q. Has Elvis been in the show "Las Vegas" before?
A. Never. And because of the holidays, this gave us a great opportunity to do it
right. It was almost like Elvis really was on the set.
I wrote the scenes knowing what songs we would be using. So before each scene, we would listen to the song all the way through.
It
really helped the actors get a feeling for what we wanted to do. Then, on every
monitor, where we usually have football and basketball playing, we had Elvis. On
top of that, we had the car and jumpsuit reproductions in cases so we had Elvis
everywhere.
Q. What was the response from the rest of the cast?
A. Some of them had not seen a lot of the footage we were using so they were
really into it. Vanessa Marcil and Molly Sims kept staring at the monitors and
commenting on how good-looking Elvis was.
I even had to jokingly remind them we had a show to do so they had to stop looking at Elvis!

Elvis' Granddaughter Caught Lip
Locking.
Elvis Presley's teenage granddaughter has a new man - and mum Lisa Marie Presley
approves. Model Riley Keough and pop star Ryan Cabrera were spotted kissing up a
storm at trendy Los Angeles club Metal Skool on Monday night - and chaperone
Lisa Marie happily stroked her daughter's hair while the new couple got
romantic.
Keough, 17, and the 24-year-old 'Always come back to you' hitmaker were also
joined by the teenager's new stepdad Michael Lockwood as the Presley's checked
out Metal Skool's Monday night show at the Key Club. One club regular says,
"Ryan and Riley were all over each other for much of the show - they obviously
weren't there to see the band.
"At first they didn't seem to care who saw their public display of affection but
then Lisa Marie started gesturing them to take a breather as people in the
audience started staring at the loved-up couple."
It's not Cabrera's first romance with the daughter of a power pop family - he
also dated Ashlee Simpson and continues to be managed by his ex's father Joe.

Photographer William Speer, 89, died on Sunday December 4, 2006 in Memphis.

Photographer William Speer, 89, died on Sunday December 4, 2006 in Memphis.
He photographed Elvis Presley in 1954 and 1955 in his "Blue light" studio in the centre of Memphis. These pictures became classics.
Interview from August 16, 2002 by Michael Lollar.
Photographer sensed star quality as soon as he met young singer
"When he first stepped in front of the camera, I told him, `You sure would make
a wonderful actor,' " says photographer William Speer of his most famous
subject.
Elvis Presley was 19 when he showed up at Speer's studio. He had been sent to
Speer by his first manager, Bob Neal, to have publicity photos shot to help
promote his fledgling singing career.
Speer, now 85, grew up as a fan of black-and-white movie glamor shots in the
glass cases in theater lobbies when he was a child. He used what he calls
"Rembrandt lighting" with an overhead spotlight casting shadows downward. Before
the photos were even developed, Speer and his wife, Vacil, knew there was
something special going on:
"It felt like an electrical charge in the room. You can tell the famous ones or
the ones who are going to be famous. They stand out in a room without you even
knowing who they are," says Vacil Speer.
Speer remembers thinking Elvis "looked like Burt Lancaster. He could have played
his brother in the movies." When the photographs were developed, no one was
disappointed. "He came off that dead film like dynamite. Either you've got it or
you haven't," says the photographer.
The photographs were among the most memorable ever shot of Elvis, partly because
Vacil Speer was bold enough to ask Elvis to try "something different" - a few
shots with his shirt off. "He didn't look real happy about it," but he obliged,
says Vacil Speer. Elvis seldom used the shirtless poses for publicity purposes.
When he saw them, the Speers say he laughed and said, "These have got to go."
But they have become collectors' items. In a 1987 column in the New York Daily
News, columnist Liz Smith called one of the brooding shirtless poses "the most
beautiful photo ever taken of Elvis." The photos also were turned into a 1993
calendar with Elvis the cover boy for 11 months and a separate Speer photo of
Elvis's parents, Vernon and Gladys Presley, as the 12th month.
Vacil Speer says she missed her chance during the session to make it even more
memorable. "Somebody said, `Why didn't you take his pants off while you were at
it?' I could have been worth a fortune by now."
Even so, William Speer now is negotiating with a New York collector who has
offered an undisclosed sum in what Speer calls "the high six-figure range" for
his original negatives. Two of the photos have appeared in Time magazine through
the years.
Speer friend Bill Carrier, another well-known Memphis photographer, helped turn
the photo shoot into the 1993 calendar, which was scheduled for sale on the QVC
television shopping network. Carrier had printed thousands of the calendars when
the deal fell through and is now looking at ways to market the calendar again -
possibly in the next year with the same configuration of days as 1993.
Carrier says the photograph of Vernon and Gladys Presley is intriguing in
itself. "It's one of the few pictures where Gladys is smiling."
That is a rarity for a Speer photo. His Elvis series also includes a smiling
Elvis, although, he says, "I don't usually take smiling jackass pictures. If
you're looking at a person with a smile, all you see is the smile. The smile
kills the whole thing. The picture is in the eyes."
Elvis sent his parents to Speer for their portrait and returned once with a
girlfriend to have her portrait shot. It was then that Speer thinks he may have
offended Elvis, who never returned. While he was concentrating on photographing
the girlfriend, Elvis was in the next room and began singing.
"I said, 'Stop the racket. I'm trying to take a picture.'"

2006/12/05 EpGold.Com.
Nashville gets a share of Elvis
Week in 2007.
Next year's Elvis Week commemorating the 30th anniversary of the King's death
will go beyond the usual Memphis events to honor some of Nashville's own Presley
lore.
Besides a Beale Street parade and the usual vigil at Graceland in Memphis, the
week's calendar features a special concert at Nashville's historic Ryman
Auditorium 196 miles away to benefit Belmont University's music business
scholarship program.
"We like to say Elvis may have lived in Memphis, but he made his music here,"
Belmont spokeswoman Pamela Johnson said.
The studio most closely associated with the King's early career was Sun Records
in Memphis, where producer Sam Phillips recorded Presley's first records and
nurtured his rise to fame before he signed with RCA in 1955.
But Nashville's RCA Studio B, where the concert and scholarship fund were
announced, was built for Elvis, he said, and he recorded many hits there, such
as "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "It's Now or Never."
Thanks to a partnership with the Curb Family Foundation, the Country Music Hall
of Fame and Museum now runs tours of the studio, which is restored to its 1970s
condition, and Belmont students practice recording using the old analog
equipment.
Gordon Stoker, who sang backup for Elvis as part of The Jordanaires, was at the
Monday announcement, telling stories of recording with Presley at Studio B.
Still in the studio is a broken wooden cabinet that once held some faulty
recording equipment that provoked Elvis to show off his temper, Stoker told The
Associated Press.
"He kicked it and burst it in," Stoker said. "He hauled off and cussed it. ... I
asked the Country Music Hall of Fame never to repair it."
Most Elvis Week events take place in Memphis, but every year sponsor Elvis
Presley Enterprises includes a few others on its official calendar, such as
those in Presley's birthplace of Tupelo, Miss., spokesman Todd Morgan said.
Elvis Presley Enterprises controls the worldwide marketing of Presley's name and
image and is now a subsidiary of CKX Inc., which also owns the "American Idol"
TV show.
"We're happy to cooperate with Belmont by listing the event for them," Morgan
said. "They've got one of the best music business programs in the country and
they wanted to do something for their scholarship program."
The music business school has another tie to Elvis. Cecil Scaife, for whom the
new scholarship fund will be named, helped start the academic program in 1971
and also worked with Elvis as the first promotions manager at Sun Records,
according to a news release from the school.
Belmont has not released a list of performers for the concert, but Johnson said
it would feature Elvis songs performed by other prominent artists. Elvis
performed on the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman in 1954 as he rose to stardom.
The school hopes to make the concert an annual event and inspire tie-in events,
like screenings of Elvis films, around the city.

the validity of an agreement between him and two Nevada residents, Robert
Gallagher and Betty Franklin, regarding a collection known as "Dr. Nick's
Memories of Elvis."
The collection consists of items once owned by Dr. George Nichopolous, a
former...
...personal physician to Presley, who died of heart disease and prescription
drug abuse in 1977 at his Memphis mansion. Among the items is a black doctor's
bag used by Nichopolous and containing prescription bottles bearing Presley's
name.
"Some of the prescription bottles are dated the day prior to Elvis' death,"
according to an inventory included in Long's lawsuit.
The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners suspended Nichopolous' license in 1980
after determining he over-prescribed drugs to Presley, entertainer Jerry Lee
Lewis and other patients in the 1970s. According to the board, Nichopolous
prescribed 5,300 pills and vials for Presley in the sevenmonths before his
death.
Nichopolous was acquitted on related criminal charges in 1981, but his medical
license was revoked in 1995 after the board ruled he had over-prescribed
potentially addictive drugs to 13 patients, including Lewis, between 1987 and
1990.
In addition to Nichopolous's black bag, the collection includes jewelry, guns, a
laryngeal scope used to examine Presley's throat, and a glass nasal douche "used
to irrigate Elvis' sinuses before each show."
The collection also includes a desk at which Elvis conducted business from his
Graceland mansion and regularly got his hair cut. "Some of Elvis' hair remains
in the fibers of thechair," the inventory states.
According to the lawsuit, Nichopolous, who has collaborated with Gallagher and
Franklin in past exhibitions of the collection, agreed earlier this year to sell
it to them and Long for $1 million. In return, Nichopolous agreed to make
promotional appearances for which he would be paid $100 an hour, or a flat fee
of $10,000, depending on the distance he had to travel.
Long claims that he agreed to put up the $1 million to purchase the memorabilia,
and that Gallagher and Franklin, who claimed to have a "half interest" in the
collection, agreed to assign all their rights to a limited liability company
controlled by Long. Longalso agreed to loan the new company $1 million to cover
expenses incurred by Gallagher and Franklin, and another $1 million for
operating capital, according to the lawsuit.
Long claims that Gallagher and Franklin have refused to surrender access to the
memorabilia and won't provide proof of their expenses and the paperwork needed
to obtain insurance.
"More critically, all of the items in the memorabilia have remained in the
possession of Mr. Gallagher and Ms. Franklin in uninsured and unsecured
locations in Nevada," the lawsuit states.
Meanwhile, Franklin, who reportedly once worked for Nichopolous and is
Gallagher's business manager, says shehas hired Nevada attorney Michael Matuska
to review the arrangement with Long. Matuska did not return telephone calls
seeking comment.
Mario Zangari, a Connecticut attorney representing Long, noted that William
Dulaney, an attorney in Tunica, Miss., warned Gallagher and Franklin before the
deal that Long would control the new enterprise.
"He warned them in writing and verbally in front of all of us," Zangari said. "
... He warned them that this would be very difficult on their part."
Dulaney declined to answer questions, saying he was not aware of the Chancery
Court lawsuit.
Gallagher and Franklin apparently decided to go ahead with thedeal, although
language in the agreement was changed at the last minute after Nichopolous'
lawyer informed Zangari at closing that Gallagher had testified in a previous
lawsuit that he did not own an interest in the collection.
Gallagher and Franklin subsequently presented a written agreement in which
Nichopolous granted them a 50 percent share of the proceeds if the collection
was sold, according to the lawsuit.
Long claims that within weeks of closing the deal, Gallagher said he was putting
together a group to buy him out. According to the lawsuit, a sale never
developed and uncertainty over the collection's future resulted in an inability
to exhibitit at the Stardust casino in Las Vegas before it closed Nov. 1. In her
October letter, Franklin blamed Long for "tremendous losses" suffered by her and
Gallagher because of the cancellation.
Officials with Elvis Presley Enterprises, whose chief executive once described
the collection as "tacky, tasteless and unfortunate," did not respond to a
request for comment on the case.

New Elvis Books.
The Elvis I Remember book release.
Another
book release, this time by Beth Machurek. The pr for this book is interesting:
As a freelance entertainment reporter in Memphis I was one of the first asked to
read “The Elvis I Remember”, before it was made public. By the 6th chapter I
could tell the author poured her heart out in telling her story about Elvis.
After reading the story I could not decide whether the story was true or not. So
I went to those who knew Elvis best, his former associates and family members.
When asked
about the authenticity of what was written, most changed the subject the moment
I mentioned the author’s name.
Not because they thought it was just another book written by some obsessive fan,
but because they were hiding something.
If you want to know more about what has been written in this romantic insight to possibly one of Elvis’s greatest love affairs, then you are going to have to read it yourself.
New book Church of E.
This 47 page book by Scott Linker is available in softcover format or or as an
online download.
Elvis In the Beat of the Night - True Stories of Elvis and his Police Buddies
delayed yet again.
Publication of this book by Sun International in Memphis has been postponed for the third time. Originally announced for release in August 2006 the new street date is later this month.

The Release Date Of Our Latest Product Is Just Ahead.
20 years of research and hard detective work and additional 18 months of pure
production time have gone by.
Different than our other productions which were most of the time advertised long before their release dates we kept the work about this extreme and highly controversial topic behind the curtain and over the years every little detail of this work has been handled as top secret. We never have done a more exciting production work than on this new product.
This time we had to get our hands on information, paper work and facts which no one is supposed to see. Never in the past, we had to dig that deep to get out information and material we needed for the project.
Some members of the team had to bring them selves into dangerous situations to get the hands on things that were of high priority to finalise that outstanding production. And on some things you even don't want to know how we got the material that we used in our new project.
There were times when we were not sure if we were able to finish that
production. Now, a few weeks before the release date, we are in the position
that we can finally give you some information about one of the most outstanding
work we have ever compiled.
At this point, you may ask yourself, if it will be a new book or will the next
release be a DVD? We don't know!
Will the people outside say our new release is a DVD or will they call it a book
- we don't know. So let us tell you what we know.
For the first time ever we will release a combo of Book and DVD.
Praytome Publishing proudly presents the new Bud Glass production release:
A 100-pages full-colour, hard cover book with the use of the outstanding, high
quality paper stock being established as best choice paper for books by our
releases of the "Elvis - Behind The Image" & "Elvis - Born To Rock".
The prints will be as usual "National Geographic" quality standard. The pictures were cleaned and restored by a professional graphic historian so the best possible results are the logical consequence. The book comes with a print varnishing.
This method guarantees that (especially on pictures with dark areas) the
fingerprints don't remain visible and so the single pages will always look new
and unread. The new release will have the same great finish for what Praytome
Publishing is famous for.
The DVD is not the usual "Bonus"-DVD with material the fan already has and the
world mostly does not need. It is not a "Bonus" that the producer can ask a
higher price for his product.Folks, we talk about a full length documentary
which could be easily a "Stand-Alone" product as our next DVD release.
With a running time of 95 minutes we are exactly in our own standards and give the customers much more than the usual "60 minutes - I give you only what I have to give you" release by other production companies.
Our philosophy, we give you more for your money, more quality, more content worked perfectly in the past and is well received by the fans. So we decided to do it again!
The book and the DVD interact perfectly with each other. The book gives you the
possibility to do your own research and dig a little deeper and go in detail in
parts of the stories.
This website will be update regularly so check back for more details about this
mysterious production.

ELVIS CANDY.

Coinciding with the
30th Anniversary of Elvis's death next summer, Hershey will shimmy onto the
shelf a limited-edition peanut-butter-and-banana-creme variety inspired by the
rock 'n' roll legend. And the rollout will be accompanied by a significant
promotional outlay.
The push comes as part of Hershey's effort to regain momentum for its brands,
which have lost share to Mars during the last three months. Sales for Reese's --
No. 1 in the chocolate category -- fell slightly during the last year to $412
million.
And while many retailers question the appeal of the new flavor itself, the power
of the pompadoured pop star is expected to bring attention to the item in
stores.
Trip To Graceland.
"Even retailers who don't do much with limited editions will with this one,"
said an executive close to Hershey.
In part, that's because Hershey plans to promote it with far more pomp and
circumstance than is typically put against its limited editions.
Peanut-butter-and-banana-creme, which features Elvis (the skinny one) on package
graphics, will include an under-the-label instant-win game offering a trip for
two to Graceland.
Other prizes include Elvis memorabilia and a limited-edition Elvis Nascar car.
Hershey will also place Elvis on the side of its Reese's Nascar car and will
tout the Elvis tie-in heavily with advertising, in-store efforts and a major
public-relations outreach during August and September, especially during Elvis
Week 2007, which will be held Aug. 11 through Aug. 19.
Because 2007 represents the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death, the event,
according to the website of promoter Elvis Presley Enterprises, is expected to
"be the biggest, most exciting Elvis Week ever."
A Proven Icon.
This year's buzz aside, Elvis has done well hawking products posthumously,
ranking first in Forbes' 2005 list of top-earning deceased celebrities with $45
million in sales last year.
The King is featured in ads for the Honda CR-V, he'll be touted in a TV Guide
Tribute CD on the magazine's Dec. 11th cover and he has recently been licensed
for everything from revolvers (the Elvis Presley "Taking Care of Business" Smith
& Wesson) to keys. Zippo has sold out its limited-edition Elvis lighters
annually for the last 20 years.
"Elvis is such a tried-and-true icon, using him is going to work [for Hershey].
The question is how big it will be," said Landor managing director Allen
Adamson. That said, though, he added there is "potential upside and very little
downside."
Steven Addis, president of Addis Creson, agrees that using the borrowed interest
of Elvis couldn't hurt and is actually a great way to test a product. Given the
promotional efforts around the variety,he suggested Hershey is thinking of
rolling out a banana-creme Reese's variety longer term, and using Elvis is "a
good way o get trial early on."
Retailers agree, even those who aren't crazy about the flavor combination. "I
didn't like the way it tastes, but anything with Elvis has a possibility," said
one Midwest grocery executive.
"The girls in my office are thrilled."
Even 30 years dead, Elvis still has a way with the ladies.
