The Graceland Outlet loctaed on Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis had a new name
this past August, The Memphis Outlet. They now have released a statement
through Elvis Presley Enterprises stating the following:
Dear Elvis Fans,
Thank you for all your business and support over the past years. We would
like to inform you that we have made a business decision to change our name
from the former Graceland Outlet to the now Memphis Outlet. We would like to
assure you this is not the result of any change in ownership and will not
result in any change in the way we conduct business. We will continue to
provide you with great Elvis products for great prices all around the world.
Again, we assure you it is only a name and e-mail address change. We would
like to thank you again for all your years of support keeping the Elvis
legacy alive.
To Many More Years, Memphis Outlet.
Question is, what would prompt the "official" licensed outlet for Graceland
and Elvis to distance itself from Graceland and Elvis? If a store only sells
Nike sneakers, do they change thier name from the Nike shop to the sneaker
shop? There's more to this story if you ask us.

In an entry on his website, 90210 star Dustin Milligan apologizes to his
fans for making an Internet short video where he's describing Elvis as the "king
of homos."
Milligan writes:
To all my readers, gay, straight, bi, still deciding: I'm truly sorry and
deeply embarrassed by this. My personal views on homosexuality and
bisexuality and sexuality in general are so far from the dark place where
these kinds of hateful terms come from and are not at all reflected
accurately by such a statement. Especially now, when same-sex marriage is
such a big issue in the US, I feel the days when jokingly calling someone a
"homo" or saying "that's gay" are simply over.
No one should be made to feel like they or their sexuality/lifestyle is
synonymous with "stupid", and no one should be made to feel like they are
less than anyone else because of who they love. It's almost like how, in the
past, everyone used to drop the N-bomb like it was a day of the week, but
now it's totally unacceptable. I feel, hope, that down the line, it will be
the same with sexually derogatory terms as well.
I hope my kids never use these hurtful words as flippantly as I have. Again,
I am ashamed for having said it and to everyone out there, fans, friends,
family, and the LGBT community: I'm sorry.

From writer, producer, director D. Edward Stanley who captured international
interest at his Cannes premier and later through the worldwide release of
Protecting The King in 2007, comes a true story that has been buried for
more than fifty years. Restoring My Father’s Honor follows Stanley’s father,
Master Sgt. William J. Stanley as he fights his way through D-Day on bloody
Omaha Beach only to face an enemy in the form of Vernon Presley, father of
Rock icon Elvis Presley.
Dallas, TX, October 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Impello Films Inc. announced today
it has begun pre-production work on its next feature film “Restoring My
Father’s Honor.” With his first feature film “Protecting The King” released
worldwide in 2007, writer/producer/director D. Edward Stanley now brings a
true story to the screen that has been buried for more than 50 years.
In 1958 Master Sgt. William (Bill) J. Stanley, 3rd Armored Division, was
stationed in Frankfurt Germany with his wife and three young sons. That same
year Vernon Presley followed his son Elvis Presley, now an Army private also
assigned to the 3rd Armored Division, to Frankfurt. In a twist of fate these
two men would meet, setting off a series of events that would lead to deceit,
dishonor and betrayal. Sgt. Stanley had known only victory in 17 years of
military service. From the bloody beaches of Normandy France in 1944 to the
carnage of the Korean War, he was a combat soldier with medals that gave
silent testimony to his honor and courage. But the day Vernon Presley
arrived in Frankfurt, the groundwork was laid for a battle not of guns,
tanks and military strategy but of greed, power and money.
Sgt. Stanley would unknowingly be drawn into a battle he didn’t know how to
win – a battle that would not only cost him his family, but the honor of the
country that he had dedicated his life to defend. “Sgt. Stanley was my
father,” said D. Edward Stanley. “I never really got to know my Dad until
after his death when I received his memoirs in the mail. I grew up at
Graceland as the step-brother of Elvis Presley. The story of what happened
to him and how it impacted his life has never been told. And it’s certainly
an unknown chapter of the Presley saga.”
“Restoring My Father’s Honor” promises to reach a broad range of audiences
with its human drama, military flavor and compelling content. “It’s the
story of a combat veteran who fought in some of this nation’s greatest
crusades for freedom yet became a casualty of fame,” said Stanley. “But it’s
also a story of redemption and restoration.” For more information about
Restoring My Father’s Honor visit the films official website at
www.restoringmyfathershonor.com.
Impello Films engages in the production and development of the intellectual
properties of writer/director D. Edward Stanley as well as other acquired
properties for exploitation in various media and markets. The production
company’s offices are located at 9131 Jasmine Lane, Irving, Texas 75068. For

Presley's estate earned $52 million in the past year, again leading Forbes'
annual list of top-earning departed celebrities. Heath Ledger and Paul
Newman also had good years -- financially, anyway.
"Night of the Living Dead" may be a Halloween cult classic, but every
October, Forbes.com turns it around and takes a look at how the dead make a
living.
While things might be topsy-turvy in the financial markets above ground,
there's still a bull market in the boneyard. The 13 famous people on our
list of top-earning dead celebrities drew a combined $194 million over the
past 12 months.
Topping the list for the second year running is the king of rock 'n' roll,
Elvis Presley. Without so much as lifting a finger, the Memphis Flash earned
a whopping $52 million in the past year. That's more than some of the music
industry's biggest living acts command. For example, Justin Timberlake
pulled in $44 million last year, and Madonna earned $40 million.
The 30th anniversary of Presley's death helped boost attendance and
merchandise sales last year at Graceland, his home in Memphis, Tenn. New
ventures such as an Elvis Sirius Satellite Radio show add to a long list of
publishing and licensing deals.
Some new faces
Debuting on the list, in third place, is Australian actor Heath Ledger, most
famous for his role as the Joker in "The Dark Knight," the latest
installment in the Batman movie franchise. At the time of his overdose in
January, the 28-year-old star seemed poised on the cusp of an extremely
lucrative film career.
Ledger had reportedly secured a deal for his role in "Knight" that included
merchandising (think Joker action figures) and a percentage of film revenue.
With the film grossing $991 million in box-office revenue worldwide, we
estimate his earnings at $20 million.

Brigitte Heitzer, who played the lead role in the Dutch musical version of ‘Evita’,
will play a main part in a musical about Elvis. Joop Van De Ende Theater
Productions confirmed the news. In the next few weeks, there will be
auditions to complete the cast.
The musical will not be about Elvis’ life, but the story is build around his
songs. The synopsis of the story is not revealed at this time and the date
of the premiere is not set for the moment. Heitzer was the winner of the
talent contest ‘The Search for Evita’.

This very interesting CD entitled The Very Best of Elvis Presley & the Beatles features 16 Elvis songs and 12 Beatles songs. Songs includes Get Back, Something, Yesterday, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, One Night, The Wonder Of You, In The Ghetto etc

Elvis Presley has vowed to watch over his family from beyond the grave after
'meeting' his daughter Lisa Marie's new twins through a medium.
Elvis Presley has 'met' his granddaughters through a medium.
Lisa Marie Presley - the late music legend's daughter, who gave birth to
twin daughters Finley and Harper earlier this month - asked a medium to
introduce the babies to her father and was delighted when the spirit guide
contacted the singer.
Lisa Marie is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "This was
my dad, this was Elvis coming through. I would know his energy anywhere and
this was him, I have no doubt.
"Not only was it his voice but I could feel the exact same love he gave me
when I was a little girl. It was so overwhelming that I started to cry.
"The medium comforted me with his words by telling me that he was proud of
me and the babies were beautiful, he's doing fine on the other side and he
watches over me. And I sort of got acclimatised to this and dried my eyes
and we had this amazing link.
"The most comforting thing he told me is that even though he's not here
physically any more he is still with me and he watches over the babies too."
Meanwhile, Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla - who was the wife of Elvis, who
died in 1977 aged 42 - revealed it is "a dream come true" to be a
grandmother again.
She said: "My daughter just had twins, so that's a dream come true. It's
been a real delight entering into the room and seeing these two little
babies - it's been pretty terrific.
"Father's a little nervous. He's a first-time dad, so it's the most
beautiful thing to watch the way he holds and carries the babies. It's so
endearing to watch how delicate he is."
The twins are Lisa Marie's first children with husband Michael Lockwood.
She also has two children by ex-husband Danny Keough - Riley, 19, and
Benjamin, 16.

By 1966 Elvis Presley’s film career was in the doldrums, a fact he
recognized all too painfully. Told he would have to sing the children’s
ditty “Old MacDonald” for the movie Double Trouble, the King is said to have
cried out: “It’s come to this?” And in 1967 he began production on Girl
Happy, where the most influential figure in the history of rock-and-roll was
ultimately reduced to imploring us to “dig right in and do the clam”—a
would-be dance craze that never really caught fire, strangely enough.
At the same time, paradoxically, his personal life couldn’t have been
happier. In the wee hours of May 1, 1967, Elvis and his longtime love,
Priscilla Beaulieu, slipped away to Las Vegas and were married in a very
private ceremony at the Aladdin Hotel. They returned later that afternoon to
the house they’d been renting on Ladera Circle in Palm Springs. Originally
built by the prolific local developer Robert Alexander for his wife, the
home comprised four large circles of glass and stone set high on a hill,
overlooking the Coachella Valley. After Elvis carried his bride over the
threshold, the house instantly became known as the Honeymoon Hideaway.
“That was our getaway house,” recalls Priscilla Presley. Both before and
after the wedding, she says, the house on Ladera Circle served as a
luxuriously secluded decompression chamber for Elvis, whose life in Los
Angeles seemed like a never-ending series of film shoots, recording sessions
and meetings. “Once we started driving into Palm Springs, there was a
calmness that took over. I always loved that feeling; we really needed that
at the time. We went almost every weekend, or whenever Elvis had lots of
stress.” They often traveled there by limousine, she says, but sometimes he
would drive whichever car was his favorite at the moment.
In Los Angeles the couple had lived for a while in the Bel-Air neighborhood—until
obsessive fans figured out that they could park their cars on the dead-end
street above the house and peer through the windows with binoculars. It was
an adamant Priscilla Presley who drove over to Beverly Hills to scout out a
more private location. She finally found one on Hillcrest Road, where she
and her husband—and, very soon, their new daughter, Lisa Marie—resided
whenever the demands of Elvis’s career required him to be in Los Angeles.
California was where Elvis worked, Priscilla Presley maintains. But
Graceland—the Memphis mansion that most people will always think of as
Elvis’s home—was where his heart lay. “Memphis was playtime,” she says. It
was there that her husband could be himself: fun and relaxed, away from
Hollywood pressures, ensconced safely in his beloved South, not far from his
Mississippi birthplace. “He was truly a free spirit, and a kid at heart.
We’d watch movies at all hours of the night, roller-skate, go to the
fairgrounds, go on roller coaster rides. We’d race go-karts up and down the
front drive. We’d play badminton in the summer and have snowball fights in
the winter. These were his ways of relaxing.”
In the late 1960s Priscilla Presley was still in her early 20s and had
already been coming to Graceland—and living there, off and on—for almost
five years, ever since she’d entered the celebrity stratosphere as Elvis’s
teenage girlfriend. To her, the fun and games that marked life at Graceland
were nature, not nostalgia. “For me to adapt to that life, it wasn’t very
difficult—I was still a kid! But when it came to work, that was a different
ball game. Elvis was quite professional, did his job and did it well.”
Invariably, that meant returning to Los Angeles, where the cycle of film
shoots, recording sessions and business meetings would begin anew. On
weekends the Presleys would again escape to the Ladera Circle Honeymoon
Hideaway—and later, to an Albert Frey house in the Chino Canyon section of
Palm Springs that they purchased in 1970—but when they could, they went back
to Graceland, which continued to be their preferred retreat until their
marriage dissolved in 1972.
In 1979, two years after Elvis Presley’s death, Priscilla Presley, as his
estate’s coexecutor, assumed control of Graceland. The house was costing the
estate so much money that unless something dramatic was done, it would have
to be sold. Even though her memories of life at Graceland were now laced
with bittersweetness, Priscilla Presley couldn’t bear to let the house go.
Then she had the idea of opening it to the public—an idea that not only
saved the house but made it into a highly profitable venture.
“I wasn’t willing to lose it, so I just had to try something,” she says.
“The alternative was unbearable. We had so many staff that still lived there
and still maintained the home; they’d been with us for 20 years or more. I
wanted to do what I felt Elvis would have wanted us to do, which was to save
it. To keep it.” Today Graceland is the second-most-visited residence in
America; only the White House can boast more visitors. And thus did the
privacy-starved Presleys finally open up their home to millions of adoring
fans from all over the world.

Today at the Country Music Hall Of Fame in Nashville, the Jordanaires will
be honored as a part of the hall's Nashville Cats series. In the past year,
they have honored The Memphis Boys as well as the A Team and many other
important musicians.
The Jordanaires are not only members of the Country Music Hall Of Fame but
also The Gospel Hall Of Fame, Rockabilly Hall Of Fame, and the Vocal Group
Hall Of Fame. They have been part of over 30,000 recordings to date.
Sometimes they were on over 4 sessions a day recording not only country
music but gospel and pop as well.
The Jordanaires still today work on recording sessions as well as perform
live. Most recently, they were part of the Elvis Christmas Duets CD which
has just been released and tour often with Ronnie McDowell. The Jordanaires
are musical icons and very much deserve this honor.
Gordon spoke about this honor ,"The Country Music Hall Of Fame is honoring
us and they will try to cover some of many things we have done over the
years. They will be showing film clips as old as 50 years. Only Ray and I
will be attending the event. They have honored others like the A Team and
now the background singers starting with us."

The Trailers From “Fit for a King” The Story of B&K Enterprises.
- Fit for a King Trailer 2
Beechwood Entertainment
Director: Andy Dumas
Like a Prince From Another Planet’, this is how Elvis was described during
his Madison Square Garden performance in the local paper. His stage outfit
was a big part of his Seventies image. And although many fans know of the
names his outfits were given, just as many have little or no knowledge about
the people behind his glorious jumpsuits.
This great DVD goes into much detail about the designers, fabrics, work
method, Elvis’ reactions to designs, and much more.
Officially it is a DVD about the people of B&K Enterprises, Butch and Kim
Polston, the owners of aforenamed company.
Nowadays they cater to almost every serious impersonator and fans who want to
have a replica of one of Elvis’ jumpsuits. The originals are out of reach to
almost everyone, so a replica is a very good substitute for those who wish
to own something like that. A long list of jumpsuits is available, as well
as personal wardrobe, belts and shirts. They are very much alike the
originals and the workmanship that goes into it shows!
In 1980 Butch( a longtime Elvis fan) and Kim had made 4 jumpsuits and took
them with them to Elvis week. They were admired by everyone and one man was
so impressed with them, that he bought them on the spot, offering 2.000
dollars, a company was born...
Butch went looking for the man who had designed all of Elvis’ wardrobe and
met Bill Belew and Gene Doucette, Bill Belew was Elvis’ original designer,
starting with the ’68 Comeback Special. Around 1972 Gene started to make the
majority of the suits.
Butch asked Bill for his permission to start reproducing the suits, Bill
agreed willingly and was so impressed with this attitude that he gave Butch
all the original patterns. Butch and Kim were over the moon with this of
course.
From then on they started advertizing in fanclub magazines and the business
started to grow, now they are the authority on Elvis jumpsuits.

Butch Polston & Andy Dumas
There are very interesting stories on this DVD, Bill Belew talks about how
he came to the jumpsuit design, he had always been a admirer of Napoleon,
and so he used the Napoleonic collar, this framed Elvis’ face perfectly, so
all attention was drawn to Elvis’ face on stage.
Gene goes into much detail about how all the designs came to be and there
are very interesting stories about when Elvis started giving away belts in
Hawaii, just before the Aloha from Hawaii Special, that had the designers
sweating! All is explained about the original Aloha suit, belt and cape,
fascinating to hear all this.

Gene only once made a design that Elvis didn’t like, and that was a
Sagittarious design. To be honest, judging by the sketch, I think it would
have looked great.
Another very fascinating story is how the Ali robe came to be.
Muhammed Ali together with Angelo Dundee, Ali’s cornerman and Howard Bingham
(Ali’s photographer) went to visit Elvis in Las Vegas and Elvis had Gene
make a boxing robe in the style of an Elvis jumpsuit, and on the back it
read ‘The People’s Choice’ in beautiful stones. You can see a stunner of a
photo of Elvis with Ali with Ali trying on the robe. Angelo Dundee talks
about how his meeting happened, a very fascinating story for sure.
Butch and Kim even had the honour to make a replica cape and belt that were
given to Japan’s Prime Minister as a gift when he went to see Graceland
along with President Bush. Here we also see Todd Morgan talk about this
visit and how much the PM loved being there.
B&K Enterprises also is very well known in Hollywood nowadays, as they make
all the jumpsuits for movies that feature impersonators.
If you are a jumpsuit junkie, you simply have to own this DVD, everything is
explained about how the jumpsuits were made, what fabrics were used, Elvis’
interaction with the design team. You will get to see many original
jumpsuits that were filmed in Graceland (EPE gave their full cooperation for
this DVD), replicas by B&K Enterprises, lots of inside stories and the odd
rare photo's.
Even if you have only a slight interest in this phase of Elvis’ career, it’s well worth a look, as it is a captivating story, told by numerous people in an intriguing way.

Andy Dumas filming at Graceland late September 2008, for another upcoming Dvd project.
All through the program there is an avalanche of beautiful photos and fan
filmed super 8mm footage which correspond for a change(!) with the topic
discussed. And the background music is really enthralling and also not
intrusive! So many times on these kind of DVD’s the music just drives you
bonkers, not here, this is really done very classy and tasteful.
It’s baffling that it took this long before something came out that delves
so deep into a fascinating phase in Elvis’ career. Nowadays when people
think of Elvis, it’s the jumpsuited Elvis, this image is so well-known
around the world, little children immediately know who it’s about when they
see a jumpsuit. I’m very glad that finally now, there is this DVD which goes
into so much detail about everything that has to do with the jumpsuit, it’s
amazing to learn all this.
There are extras which go into Bill Belew’s and Gene Doucette’s careers,
you’ll get to see all the people they worked with, it is all there.

Bill on his last trip to the Netherlands.
Very sad is that this DVD is also a kind of goodbye to 2 people in the Elvis
World who happened to be involved with this project. Bill Belew and Todd
Morgan passed away before the DVD came out.

Martina McBride will be in Memphis on Nov. 21 to help kick off the holiday
season at Graceland, the late Elvis Presley's longtime home.
She's scheduled to flip the switch to turn on the traditional blue holiday
lights decorating the mansion and its property. Several female vocalists
were invited to overdub vocals to create duets from Presley's original
holiday recordings, and McBride landed his most famous holiday song --"Blue
Christmas."
The Elvis Presley Christmas Duets album also features Presley singing with
Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans and Wynonna Judd.

#13 on the Country album chart
#61 on the Top 200 Album Chart.
Also at #20 on the CANADIAN Top 100 Album chart.
'Elvis Presley Christmas Duets' hit another chart in the U.S. yesterday,
this time it's the Billboard Internet Album Chart where it entered at #10.

The Norwegian fanclub 'Flaming Star' is working on a spectacular project.
The club hopes to collect pictures of all the jumpsuits Elvis ever wore on
stage in the 200 page book "Fashion For A King". Authors Tommy Edvardsen and
Atle Larsen hope to have the book ready for print early 2009.

Priscilla Presley couldn't be happier to be a grandma again – and seeing
double. "My daughter just had twins, so that's a dream come true," Presley,
63, told Entertainment Tonight" at a Dream Foundation charity event in Santa
Barbara on Friday.
"We are just thrilled," Presley said at the 7th Annual First Ladies for the
grant-wishing organization, for which she is an ambassador. "It's been a
real delight entering into the room and seeing these two little babies –
it's been pretty terrific."
Lisa Marie Presley and husband Michael Lockwood welcomed twin girls on Oct.
7 and named them Finley and Harper.
Lisa Marie, 40 who already has two children – Riley, 19, and Benjamin, 16,
by ex-husband Danny Keough – is "doing great" according to her mother. But
for daddy Lockwood, fatherhood is a whole new experience.
"Father's a little nervous," Presley said of her son-in-law. "He's a
first-time dad, so it's the most beautiful thing to watch the way he holds
and carries the babies. It's so endearing to watch how delicate he is."

George Hamilton talks about his juicy new memoir, 'Don't Mind If I
Do'...........Along the way he forged friendships with the likes of Grant,
Mitchum, George Peppard, Imelda Marcos and even Elvis Presley's notorious
manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
The publicist assigned to Hamilton while he was making 1960's "Home From the
Hill" for director Vincente Minnelli suggested he give Parker a call about
becoming his manager. The Colonel was only handling Elvis but suggested that
Hamilton look him up on the MGM lot.
They finally met about six months later and became fast friends. Though the
Colonel had the reputation of being a charlatan and even misguiding
Presley's career, Hamilton says that was far from reality.
"I saw the Colonel operate and saw what he did for Elvis and how smart he
was," said Hamilton. "The Colonel would say to Elvis, 'You can't be in film
and on stage at the same time. You don't want to compete with yourself.
Elvis didn't want to work that hard. He liked to be with the Memphis guys.
He liked to play paddle tennis and play touch football. And you had a choice
-- you could either be Elvis' friend or the Colonel's friend."......
The next Madison release will be Hillcrest Blues - Standing Room Only Tapes,
Vol. 3.
One of the changes in 1972, after wife Priscilla left their marriage, was a
move back into his empty Hillcrest home in Los Angeles, in early March.
Was it any surprise that several of the songs done a few weeks later, at
RCA's Studio C in nearby Hollywood, were downcast or bluesy? When MGM's
cameras moved in for a one-day "mock" session sequence, Elvis and band
rocked it up with "Burning Love" and "Johnny B. Goode," but also showed
Presley's true mood with selections like "For The Good Times," "Always On My
Mind" and "Separate Ways."
Now, for the very first time, hear the complete, unedited March 30, 1972 "mock"
session in superb STEREO!

Local Belgian television RTV has just put their report of the Original Cast
show of last Sunday in Turnhout online. Click the link below to see the (Flemish)
report of the last show of this mini Tour in Europe, an organization of the
major European fan clubs.

CKX, Inc., its subsidiary Elvis Presley Enterprises and Cirque du Soleil
have reached an agreement with MGM MIRAGE to create a permanent Elvis
Presley show at CityCenter’s resort-casino, currently under construction on
the Las Vegas Strip. The show is expected to open with the resort in late
2009.
Cirqun collaboration between MGM MIRAGE and the world’s foremost architects
and designers, CityCenter will open in 2009 on 76 acres between the Bellagio
and Monte Carlo resorts. At the heart of the action on the Las Vegas Strip,
CityCenter will feature a soaring 61-story, 4,000-room resort-casino; two
400-room non-gaming hotels including Las Vegas’ first Mandarin Oriental;
approximately 2,650 luxury condominiums; and The Crystals, a
500,000-square-foot retail and entertainment district. CityCenter is a joint
venture between MGM MIRAGE and Dubai World.
Robert F.X. Sillerman, Chairman and CEO of CKX, Inc., commented, “I am
pleased that during this time, when we remember Elvis Presley and celebrate
his life, we are able to announce his return to Las Vegas, a place where he
truly rose to iconic status. And with the remarkable creative talent of
Cirque du Soleil, fans who saw Elvis perform, as well as those who never had
a chance to see him, will be able to experience Elvis in an entirely new and
exciting way. This will be the first step in establishing a twenty-first
century presence in Vegas for the King.”
Guy Laliberté, Founder of Cirque du Soleil, commented, “This new creative
challenge is exactly what we strive at accomplishing in the development of
our new productions. Cirque du Soleil is thrilled to be involved in
CityCenter and we are particularly honored to be entrusted with this
assignment. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the public
will have an unforgettable encounter with the King of Rock and Roll. Elvis
had a unique relationship with his adoring fans in Vegas ane du Soleil’s
creative team is inspired by this new extravaganza. The creative combination
of live musicians and singers, projections, dance and the latest in
multimedia sound and lighting technology are stimulating and aim at offering
an emotional bond with the audience. The show will bring Elvis back to Las
Vegas for millions of his existing fans and create a buzz that will enable
the persona of Elvis to reach untold numbers of new fans.
A desigd a large part of our mission is to recreate the excitement and the
spirit of joy he generated here.”
Bobby Baldwin, President and CEO of Mirage Resorts, an MGM MIRAGE operating
division, said, “We are thrilled to partner with our friends and colleagues
at Cirque du Soleil, who are known the world over for creating memorable
entertainment experiences.
With this show we will bring together Elvis, an icon of Las Vegas
entertainment history, with CityCenter, a destination that represents the
future of this remarkable city.”
The announcement represents another step in the creative partnership between
CKX and Cirque du Soleil. In May, the two companies announced an agreement
for the creation, development, production and promotion of Elvis Presley
Projects, featuring touring and permanent shows as well as multimedia
interactive “Elvis Experiences” throughout the world. CKX and Cirque du
Soleil to open at least one touring Elvis show in Europe and/or Asia, and
one “Elvis Experience” outside the United States. Beginning in 2009, at

An email informing that in it's first week, Elvis Presley' first ever duets
album has failed to chart over in the states.
But with reports of many fans being unable to find copies in stores, the news comes as no surprise.
Well, if the Republicans blamed the financial crisis on Elvis Presley USA
Today would probably just write it up politely and then note that the
Democrats disagree. That is exactly what the paper did today in an article
discussing how both parties contributed to the crisis.
The article notes that Phil Gramm, a former senator and adviser to John
McCain, pushed through a law that prevented the Commodity Futures Trading
Commission from regulating derivatives. It then presents Gramm's claim that
the real problem was the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), but notes that
Democrats and "many experts dispute that."
It would have been worth noting that Gramm's claim makes no sense. The CRA
did not even apply to the biggest actors in the subprime market. How could
the CRA be responsible for forcing financial institutions to make subprime
loans when they were not even covered by the CRA. It makes as much sense to
blame Elvis.
In discussing the role of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the crisis, it would
have been useful to point out that they lost market share during the peak
years of the housing bubble. Their share of the mortgage market fell from
50.1 percent in 2002 to 34.8 percent in 2006. While they did get heavily
involved in junk mortgages, they lagged the private sector. They did not
create the problem.
It would have been useful to mention the bubble itself. Neither party
thought it was appropriate to force the Fed to take steps to burst the
bubble before it reached such dangerous proportions. This was their bigggest
failing.

Woman Files Court Petition to Open Estate of
Vernon Presley
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WHBQ FOX13 myfoxmemphis.com) -- A Memphis probate
judge reopened the estate of Vernon Presley, father of music icon Elvis
Presley, after a 46-year old woman filed a petition claiming to have DNA
evidence that she is Vernon's "love-child," making her Elvis's half-sister
and a legal heir.
But wait, there's more.
The DNA evidence provided by Eliza A. Presley - who just recently changed
her name from Alice Elizabeth Tiffin to her alleged namesake - is an
envelope mailed to her that was licked by Jessie Presley, the assumed name
used by Elvis Presley. That envelope was allegedly sent to Eliza and
processed earlier this year, which implies that… the King did not die in
1977.
The probate judge made the ruling Wednesday morning, stating that the ruling
was only to reopen Vernon Presley's estate and not a validation of Eliza's
claim.
Eliza Presley also claims to have additional DNA evidence that proves her
parentage, evidence that was processed by a DNA testing firm in Arizona.

A Roman marble head that looks like Elvis – right down to the quiff – was
sold for £24,000 at auction yesterday (42.000 $US).
The 13-inch carving, which came from a 2nd century AD sarcophagus, was
bought by an unnamed collector at a Bonhams sale in London. A
ntiquities specialist Georgiana Aitken said: “It bears an uncanny likeness
to Elvis. It’s the quiff that does it. It wasn’t a hairstyle of the day as
far as I know.”

The U.S. Interior Department has announced that Shreveport's Municipal
Auditorium has been declared a national historic landmark in the US. It is
one of 16 locations to become national landmarks this year for it's
importance in American history and culture.
The auditorium is city owned. It was built in the 1920's with an art deco
design. It was dedicated to the World War I veterans. It is most famously
known as the site of the Louisiana Hayride hosted by local radio station,
KWKH from 1948 to 1958. It was noted as country music's most innovative
radio show.
"It's a wonderful designation that, hopefully, will allow us to go out and
find grant money and other additional funding to do the things we need to do
to make that a functional place," said Shreveport Councilman Michael Long, a
musician who is active with The Foundation for Arts, Music and Entertainment
of Shreveport-Bossier.
As we all know, Elvis played the hayride while he was becoming a rising
star. Pictured above is tourists visiting the auditorium today. It now hosts
all kinds of events. It is nice to see an Elvis related site not being torn
down as many have been. The hayride is a very important piece of not only
Elvis history but music history. And it is wonderful generations of music
fans will be able to visit the auditorium where so much great music was
played and heard in a very important period of music history, the begining
of Rock and Roll.

Recorded live in Las Vegas on December 04, 1976 Midnight Show.
The forthcoming release from the "SR" label scheduled for the middle of
November is titled "December Night" and will feature an unreleased complete
show from Las Vegas December 04th , 1976 Midnight Show in great audio
quality.
As everybody knows SR concentrates on the early 70's live period of Elvis'
activity; however in the past we pressed The Sound of Vegas vol.1 with focus
on August 1973. This time, after fans requests, our tenth release will be a
concert from the Vegas December 76 season, we are proud to present a very
rare and complete show. Despite 1976 being not a great year, Elvis' love of
singing is clear in this tape and we are glad to give you the opportunity to
listen to it.
The Midnight Show from December 4th, as presented on this CD is a great
show, with a great variety of songs, all performed with quality in a very
high standard. If we look closely at the last Vegas season, we can see that
Elvis although a little tired is still able to concentrate on the music to
produce great shows. Elvis sings straight to the audience with pauses and
jokes, but the performance is still solid; the variety of the repertoire is
presented superbly. Songs like I got a Woman, You Gave Me a Mountain or Polk
Salad Annie sound great; he presents some good oldies like Lawdy Miss Clawdy,
Trying To Get To You and Jailhouse Rock which are performed well. The vocal
power is demonstrated in the last single HURT where Elvis’ voice reaches
practically the sky, followed immediately by Hawaiian Wedding Song one of
his best ballads. With the exception of some jokes like It’s Now Or Never or
Hound Dog the show is PERFECT and is a pleasure to hear over and over thanks
also to the fantastic audio quality that gives us the possibility for a hour
to go back to the past .The best song from this midnight show is very hard
to find, because the repertoire is solid, however we think the middle of You
Gave me A Mountain and Polk Salad Annie has the right spirit of the show and
the season.
This recording came from an early generation copy of the master tape; the
sound quality is Very Very Good considering the limitation of the Audience
Tape. The sound is clear with no audience background noise, the mix is great
with practically all instrument presented in the original balance without
any manipulation, a GREAT Tape For A Great Show a rare combination that we
hope you can enjoy. The sound was restored in a studio to achieve the best
possible result s. We have spent hours in the studio over the digital
restoration of the sound, to achieve the best possible results and to give
you the chance to listen with pleasure.
For the Fourth time from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe
DIGIPACK, containing a collection of live nice unreleased photographs of the
December season, with a wide spectrum of jumpsuits included.

'Million Dollar Quartet' rocks the house in
stage musical October 3, 2008
BY DAVE HOEKSTRA Staff Reporter
Musically, the likes of the Million Dollar Quartet will never pass this way
again.
Like a rolled up newspaper, Elvis Presley dropped sexed-up blues on
America's front porch. Jerry Lee Lewis connected rock 'n' roll with the
devil. Johnny Cash had integrity that ran as far as his homestead in
Kingsland, Ark. And Carl Perkins was a revved-up rockabilly cat like no
other. The four future musical legends got together for one day at Sun
Studios in Memphis in 1956; they each succeeded in the music business
because they were individualists.
'MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET'
In previews; opens Sunday and runs through Oct. 27 Owen Theatre at the
Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Deaborn Tickets, $20-$49
(312) 443-3800; www.milliondollarquartetlive.com
Keep that in mind if you are planning to see the "Million Dollar Quartet"
musical, which is making its midwest debut in the 343-seat Owen Theatre at
the Goodman Theatre. The production is an honest look at 1956 in terms of
music, fashion and feisty mid-South regionalism. It is another entry in the
genre of biographical musicals in the vein of the "The Buddy Holly Story,"
"Jersey Boys" and "All Shook Up."
"In the show we try to bring out that brawling spirit of early rock 'n' roll,"
said Sun Records historian Colin Escott, who collaborated on the
historically meticulous script for the musical. "Whatever was on their mind
is what they said. Roy Orbison said the first time he saw the Perkins
Brothers (Carl and Jay) was when the elevator door from their management
office opened. The brothers were on the floor pummeling each other. That's
who these guys were. We didn't want a fuzzy 'Happy Days' romanticism to [the
musical]."
Escott said he was recruited for the project more than six years ago after
Floyd Mutrux ("American Hot Wax") read the section on the quartet in
Escott's book Good Rockin' Tonight. Mutrux brought in producers Gigi
Pritzker and John Cossette, who is best known for producing the past 17
Grammy Awards telecasts. In real life, Cossette worked with everyone in the
quartet except for Presley. (Cossette's father, Pierre, ran Dunhill Records
in Los Angeles (Mamas & Papas, Steppenwolf. Between 1979 and 1984 John
Cossette was production manager for the '50s band Sha Na Na.)
"I get that era and I love it," Cossette said in a conversation after a "Million"
rehearsal. "But mounting a show for theater was quite different than
television. In the award show world we have six to eight weeks to be
creative from the time the nominations come out," he said. "The theater
process is readings and workshops. In live television there's a deadline."
For the Chicago production, Levi Kreis (a graduate of the hit reality
television show "The Apprentice with Donald Trump") stars as Lewis, while
Lance Guest (who appeared in the cult sci-fi film "The Last Starfighter") is
Cash. Rob Lyons has the toughest role in Perkins, who is the most vague of
the four in terms of cultural memory. Rockabilly performer Eddie Clendening
takes on Presley with a brilliant understatement. South-suburban Chicago
actor Brian McCaskill (seen here recently in Goodman's production of "The
Ballad of Emmett Till") portrays Sun Records mogul Sam Phillips. The
quartet's house band is anchored by drummer Billy Schaeffer formerly of
Chicago's Jump 'N the Saddle Band.
The show's musical director Chuck Mead (founder and lead vocalist of BR549,
the Nashville-based country roots band) was specifically recruited by Escott,
which was keeping with Cossette's vision for the production.
"My vision was to not have a Broadway guy be musical director," Cossette
said, "who would write down the score and homogenize the music. Chuck [Mead]
doesn't really write music. He teaches the guys lick by lick. This was how
it had to be done because none of [the quartet] read or wrote music."
Mead also pointed out that unlike "The Buddy Holly Story," which draws from
the Holly songbook, "Million Dollar Quartet" branches out through different
musical elements. What works particularly well is a medley by Guest doing a
spot-on Cash with Merle Travis' "Sixteen Tons" and Lyons on "My Babe,"
written by Chicago blues legend Willie Dixon.
"With four individuals who had four strong careers, you have a lot to play
with," Mead said.
Even though BR549 was theatrical in approach and style, Mead said this
project drew from a separate well. "That's my hillbilly singer life," he
said. "We never had a set list. It was whatever comes out comes out. Which
is why I know how to make it look like it isn't planned -- even though we're
planning to do it in this show."

Phillips, deep inside his Scratch Crib blog at blogs.suntimes.com/hoekstra.
Famous photo's story
On Dec. 4, 1956, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny
Cash played together for the only time in their lives during an impromptu
jam session at Sun Studios in Memphis. Sparks flew. As the personalities
jockeyed for position, Sun founder (and ever the promoter) Sam Phillips
scurried across the street to snag a photographer from the Memphis
Press-Scimitar to document the two-hour session.
That photograph is literally worth a million words. And it gave birth to the
"Million Dollar Quartet" musical now playing at the Goodman Theatre.
Acclaimed music historian Colin Escott wrote the book Good Rockin' Tonight:
Sun Records and the Birth of Rock 'n' Roll," and also co-authored the script
to "Million Dollar Quartet" along with Floyd Mutrux, who wrote and directed
the rock film "American Hot Wax."
The famous foursome had gathered at Sun to hear Carl Perkins (who had
already scored a hit with "Blue Suede Shoes").
"Jerry Lee's first record had been out for two days," Escott said from his
home in Nashville. "He was scufflin' just trying to make ends meet. Elvis
was back in town for Christmas and dropped by unannounced -- as he often did."
(Presley was already a star having left Sun for RCA Records. In the fall of
1956 he had appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show.")
According to the May 1957 edition of the Sun Record Company magazine,
Presley walked into a Sun studio where Lewis was rehearsing. Presley sat
down at a piano and started playing Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill." He then
started singing. Perkins jumped in on vocals. Cash showed up and sang a few
bars (as Phillips had already alerted him to come to the studio).
"Some other guys were there too," Escott said. "Like Smokey Joe Baugh (a Sun
vocalist who had a 1955 hit with 'Signifying Monkey,' later recorded by
Memphian Sam the Sham), and Elvis' then-girlfriend (Marilyn Evans, who is
depicted in the play). No one knows what happened to her, the best bet being
she went back to Vegas."
Three reels of session tapes from that million dollar moment didn't surface
until 1969. Since then roughly 40 more raw tracks have been released with
the quartet covering tunes from Gene Autry, Bill Monroe and Hank Snow.
Despite the photo of Presley at the piano, Lewis played most of the piano
and Presley sang most of the leads.
"Everyone was responding to Elvis," Escott said. "He had left them, gone
into another orbit and they were all in awe of what he had done. Even though
he was completely unknown, Jerry Lee was the dominant one. He definitely
believed he belonged in their company. When you listen to the tapes, you can
hear Jerry Lee just busting to be heard."
At the end of the session Lewis left his compatriots in the dust with "Crazy
Arms" (his debut Sun single) and a heartfelt version of Autry's "You're the
Only Star In My Blue Heaven."
Of course, today, Lewis is the last man standing under the Sun.

If you have seen the Original Cast show last year, then you know how
exceptionally good the quality of these concerts is – but this time, believe
it or not, the original Elvis cast took the show to an even higher level.
The show in Milan, must have been THE best live show ever with the Original
Cast. Visitors got one highlight after another: the soft, sweet voices of
the Imperials, the female touch by the Inspirations, the rockin’ hot TCB
Band, the powerful orchestra, and of course the man who kept this Music
Machine running: maestro Joe Guercio. It was a smokin’ hot show, that ended
with several standing ovations.
The Italian club ‘One Night With Elvis’ did an outstanding job: the sound in
the gorgeous Conservatorium Giusseppe Verdi was impressive, and it gave the
musicians on stage a chance to share their unbelievable talent with the
crowd.
Just to name a few highlight: the TCB Band added double solos to Johnny B.
Goode, the Imperials brought the house down with their acapella version of
“Sweet Sweet Spirit”, and the orchestra sounded bigger and stronger than
before, on songs like “Polk Salad Annie”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and
of course on the show-topper “American Trilogy”. Musical director and
conductor Joe Guercio had a few surprise songs thrown in as well: “I Got A
Woman” (seventies version!), “I Can’t Stop Loving You”, and the beautiful
ballads “Mary In the Morning” and “It’s Midnight”.
So, in short: visitors who thought they had seen ‘everything’ last year,
better think again – because this show tops them all.

the former manager of the Love Me Tender shop in Memphis had this to say
about the closing of the shop. Satoshi is very well known to fans who travel
to Memphis. He was also employed at Memories Of Elvis on Elvis Presley Blvd
until their lease with EPE ran out.
"It is with great sadness that we must announce that Love Me Tender Memphis
will close its door for the last time on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Although
we have been here less than two years, we have met a lot of Elvis fans from
all over the world. We have been very fortunate to have a store in a
building that has so much Elvis history. We are also proud to have played a
role in keeping Elvis' legacy alive on Beale Street. We have tried to always
promote his memory in a positive way. We hope that his presence on this
street will not fade away after we leave.
We have made a lot of friends here. We wish that we could say good-bye to
all of you personally, unfortunately, time does not permit us to do that
since we were only give
So, we will close with a big "THANK YOU" to all of the loyal customers that
have supported our efforts here.
We hope that you enjoyed shopping with us at Love Me Tender Memphis, and we
hope to see you again some day."
In addition to the closing of the shop, the EP Delta Kitchen formerly EP

Lisa Marie Presley is a mom again. A publicist says the 40-year-old singer
gave birth Tuesday to twin girls, whose names were not released.
One baby weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and the other came in at 5 pounds and 2
ounces. A statement released Saturday says Presley gave birth by Caesarean
section.
She lives in the Los Angeles area and the publicist says the births took
place somewhere on the West Coast but won't provide details. The statement
says "babies and mom are happy and healthy and resting at home."
Presley is the daughter of Elvis Presley and is married to music producer
Michael Lockwood. She has a 19-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son by a
previous marriage

Lisa Marie Presley gave birth to twin girls Friday, October 10 at Los Robles
Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California. Just Jared cited
Star magazine, which broke the news, as reporting her musician husband
Michael Lockwood was by her side and so did her children Danielle Riley and
Benjamin Storm, whom she has with then husband Danny Keough.
Details of the newborn infants have not yet been released as of press time.
Neither Lisa nor her camp has issued a statement about the new additions.
A family friend, meanwhile, revealed, "Lisa Marie is mom to four now! She's
feeling good, a little tired too. She is so happy and Michael is ecstatic.
He's wanted to be a dad for so long. This is his dream come true ... The
babies are healthy and beautiful. Ben was seen pushing them down the hall in
their cart and cooing to them."
Initially wanting to keep her pregnancy private, Lisa was forced to issue a
confirmation under the gun early March this year that she and Michael were
expecting their first child together after becoming the subject of cruel
comments from the news media concerning her looking heavier.
Back in May, her mother Priscilla Presley confirmed in an interview with
Entertainment Tonight that her famous daughter was pregnant with twins and
due to give birth in the fall.
