Elvis Makes A Triumphant Return.
The King of Rock n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, returned to Prestwick Airport this morning – 47 years after the first and only time he set foot in the UK.
Stewart Stevenson MSP, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, also visited and spoke to assembled guests and media as the airport celebrates two years of work on new retail units and infrastructure improvements.
The Minister unveiled a plaque in the terminal building which celebrates Elvis’s last visit on March 3 1960, when he had finished national service with the US Army and his aircraft made a brief refuelling stop as he flew home from Germany.
Today’s Elvis, played by Gordon Hendricks, arrived on board a private jet and was welcomed by fans, airport staff, members of the media and Kilmarnock man Ian Ghee, who met the real Elvis and took photographs of him when he arrived in 1960.
Ian, now 73, was working with the 67th US Air Rescue Squadron in the grounds of the airport on that now famous evening. He said: “I remember my boss telling me we had a VIP arriving and at first he wouldn’t tell me who it was.
“My brother was a massive Elvis fan and I managed to get him in by giving him the spare camera and saying he was my assistant. Some of us followed him around as he was given a tour with the base commander for about three quarters of an hour.
“We managed to get some shots of him on the steps of the plane and while there were plenty of press people there, I was the only photographer.”
Infratil Airports Europe, the owner of Glasgow Prestwick, has introduced a number of exciting new retail brands including Starbucks, Yates’s bar and restaurant, and the quintessential Scottish retailer Peckham’s.
A new, contemporary Elvis tribute bar situated in the departure lounge has been designed exclusively for the airport and is part of a major upgrade by Select Service Partners of its food and beverage outlets.
The departures lounge also boasts a new Tax and Duty Free store operated by internationally renowned retailer Nuance, which offers all the top brands at great prices.
During this period Glasgow Prestwick has also benefited from a number of new services to destinations around Europe, such as Marseille, Warsaw, Gdansk, Riga and Grenoble, with further services to Belfast, Budapest, Kaunas, Cork and Poznan coming soon.
Mark Rodwell, Chief Executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, said: “We’re delighted that Elvis and the Minister took time out of their schedules to be here today to help us mark all the changes that have taken place over the last two years or so.
“After the terminal building was refurbished and rebranded in 2005, our next task was to improve the retails units here at Glasgow Prestwick.
“Infratil wants to offer our customers the best choice possible by bringing in recognizable, good quality local and international brands in order to cater for different tastes.
“There has also been a big focus on improving our car parking facilities, while many other new developments of a subtle nature have taken place, designed to improve the passenger experience.
“We are very proud of the fact that we have managed to implement new security requirements while improving, rather than reducing, passenger service standards.
“Aside from the terminal changes, the last two years or so have also seen a number of new passenger routes introduced. These include Marseille, Warsaw, Gdansk, Riga, Grenoble and Derry. Coming soon we have Belfast, Budapest, Kaunas, Cork and Poznan.”
The Minister, Stewart Stevenson, added: “I am delighted to be at Glasgow Prestwick Airport today to mark the opening of the redeveloped terminal. This project further strengthens the airport’s position as a gateway for Scotland.
“The added space and facilities will be of real benefit to the growing number of passengers who use this airport. I wish the airport all the very best for the coming years and the Scottish Government looks forward to working with the airport in future.”
Gordon Hendricks recently appeared on the BBC’s ‘The World’s Greatest Elvis’ and a special celebrity version of ‘The Weakest Link’. He rose to prominence as the winner of ITV’s ‘Stars in their Eyes’ in 2005.

Film Buffs Still Cuckoo For Coco Palms.
(A vintage image of the old Coco Palms Resort Lagoon on Kauai. Photo courtesy of Coco Palms Venture.)
Fans of Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii" and generations of Kauai visitors have a special fondness for the Coco Palms resort on the Garden Island's east side. Even after Hurricane Iniki forced it to close in 1992, the hotel and its palm-studded lagoons remained a landmark on the Coconut Coast. So when developers announced plans last year to restore some hotel bungalows and create luxury condos on the historic site, many observers cheered. But the opening date of 2008 turned out to be too optimistic: After some bumps in the planning process, the development company has put the entire project up for sale again. (For the latest info, see the tribute site coco-palms.com or the developers' site, cocopalms.com )
Movie lovers and marrying folk, however, can still have their "Blue Hawaii" experience. Longtime island entertainer Larry Rivera, who was an extra in the movie, can coordinate Coco Palms nuptials just like Elvis' in the 1961 movie — flower-bedecked canoes, "The Hawaiian Wedding Song" and all.Call (808) 822-3868 for information and pricing. Cinephiles also get a chance to explore the shuttered resort's coconut groves — also seen on TV's "Fantasy Island" and in the Rita Hayworth movie "Miss Sadie Thompson" — on two excursions offered by Hawaii Movie Tours, the only tour operator allowed on the site.
Both tours cover a wide variety of Kauai filming locations ("Jurassic Park," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "South Pacific," etc.), and include screenings of movie clips on TV screens inside the vehicles, lunch and pickup from most hotels and resorts. The newer six-hour "eco-tour," in a 4x4 SUV capable of handling some pretty muddy roads, is offered every weekday except holidays, departing around 8:30 a.m. It costs $123 for adults and $113 for ages 5-11, plus tax; a portion of the proceeds goes to Na Ala Hele Trail Program. The popular five-hour "land tour," in an air-conditioned minibus departing daily at 9 a.m., costs $111 for adults and $92 for ages 11 and younger, plus tax.

No Belgian/Dutch impersonator TV-show.
Although the American and British TV were interested in the "World's Best Elvis Election Show", there will be no Dutch or Belgian version of the show.
ElvisMatters was contacted by a Belgian TV production company to help with the preparation of the show, but we thought that, in this case, we couldn't contribute to the show.
However, this is a free country (fortunately) so we directed the TV guys to EPE.
But we just learned that there won't be a Belgian "Elvis Election" on TV, and according to our information, there is no interest for the concept in the Netherlands either.
PS: By the way, the picture above IS the real Elvis Presley...

The Songs:
Heartbreak Hotel
On March 24, 1956, in the last of his six appearances on Stage Show, Elvis performs his first new RCA single. Heartbreak Hotel hit #1 for 8 weeks in the USA, peaked at #2 in the UK and earned Elvis his first gold record award.
Don't Be Cruel
On September 9, 1956, Elvis makes the first of his three appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and sings one of his biggest hits to date. The single Don't Be Cruel and its flipside Hound Dog each hit #1 in the USA, spending 11 weeks in the top spot. Both songs peaked at #2 in the UK.
Hound Dog
June 5, 1956. Elvis makes the second of his two appearances on The Milton Berle Show and performs a provocative (for that era of television) rendition of Hound Dog. Despite how it was enjoyed by much of the audience, this performance inspired a negative backlash in the press and letters of protest from the morally concerned.
Love Me Tender
On September 9, 1956, during his first Ed Sullivan Show appearance, Elvis performs the title song for his first movie, which was in production at the time. The single, released later that month to advance orders of over 1 million copies, hit #1 in the USA shortly before the film's November opening and peaked at #11 in the UK.
All Shook Up
In June 1968, during the taping of what became known as the '68 Comeback television special which first aired on December 3 of that year, Elvis performs this gem in a medley of classic hits. The 1957 single All Shook Up hit #1 for 9 weeks in the USA and 7 weeks in the UK.
(Let Me Your) Teddy Bear
From his second movie, 1957's Loving You. Teddy Bear had a 7-week run at #1 in the USA and peaked at #3 in the UK.
Jailhouse Rock
In his third film, 1957's Jailhouse Rock, Elvis and company perform one of the all-time classic rock production numbers with the film's title song. This sequence is considered a primary forerunner of music videos as we know them today. The single Jailhouse Rock hit #1 for 7 weeks in the USA and 3 weeks in the UK.
Stuck On You
On the "Welcome Home, Elvis" edition of Frank Sinatra's series of TV specials, taped on March 26, 1960 for airing on May 12, Elvis performs his first single release since returning home to America from serving in Germany with the US Army. Stuck on You hit #1 for 4 weeks in the USA and peaked at #3 in the UK.
Are You Lonesome Tonight?
In June 1968, during the taping of his '68 Comeback television special, Elvis performs one of his classic ballads. His original recording of Are You Lonesome Tonight? made it to #1 for 6 weeks in the USA and 4 weeks in the UK in 1960.
Can't Help Falling In Love
From the hit 1961 film Blue Hawaii. Elvis presents one of his greatest love ballads. Can't Help Falling in Love peaked at #2 in the USA and, with its flipside Rock-a-Hula Baby, had a 4-week run at #1 in the UK. Elvis closed virtually all his concerts of the 1970s with this song.
Return To Sender
From the 1962 film Girls! Girls! Girls! Return to Sender peaked at #2 in the USA and was #1 for 3 weeks in the UK. The song was not written for the film, but Paramount heard songwriter Otis Blackwell's demo recording and insisted that Elvis include it. Elvis recorded several Blackwell songs over the years, including All Shook Up and Don't Be Cruel.
In The Ghetto
Filmed at Elvis' summer 1970 engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas during production of the concert documentary film Elvis, That's the Way It Is. His 1969 single release of In the Ghetto peaked at #3 in the USA and hit #1 for a week in the UK.
Suspicious Minds
From the 1970 concert documentary film Elvis, That's the Way It Is. Elvis performs his 1969 hit Suspicious Minds, which made it to #1 for a week in the USA and peaked at #2 in the UK. During this period, the song was the climactic portion of Elvis' concerts just before his traditional show closer Can't Help Falling in Love.
The Wonder Of You
Shot during production of the concert film Elvis, That's the Way It Is in 1970. Another live recording of this song made earlier in the year peaked at #9 in the USA and hit #1 for 6 weeks in the UK.
Burning Love
January 14, 1973, from the concert in Honolulu presented as the global television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, seen live via satellite or on taped delay by 1.5 billion people in 40 countries. The 1972 single Burning Love had a week at #1 in the USA and peaked at #7 in the UK.
That's All Right
In June 1968, during the taping of his '68 Comeback television special, Elvis performs the song that started it all. That's All Right, recorded for Sun Records in Memphis in July 1954, was Elvis' first record release.
Blue Suede Shoes
From Elvis' screen test for producer Hal Wallis at Paramount Studios on March 26, 1956. He showed his star quality in two acting scenes and this lip-synched presentation of his cover of the Carl Perkins hit Blue Suede Shoes.
I Want You, I Need You, I Love You
July 1, 1956. Elvis performs in white tie and tails on The Steve Allen Show. Toning Elvis down and classing up his wardrobe was a gimmicky wink at the controversy surrounding his Milton Berle Show performance the month before. The single I Want You, I Need You, I Love You made it to #1 in the USA and peaked at #14 in the UK.
Love Me
October 28, 1956, from Elvis' second appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Love Me was the lead song on a four-song extended play single that peaked at #6 in USA and sold more than 1 million copies.
Too Much
January 6, 1957, from Elvis' third appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Elvis did one gospel number and for his secular performances that night he was shown onscreen from the waist up only. Censorship of his infamous stage moves or a publicity gimmick? The single Too Much held the #1 spot in the USA for 3 weeks and peaked at #6 in the UK.
Treat Me Nice
From Elvis' third film, 1957's Jailhouse Rock. Treat Me Nice was written by the prolific tunesmiths Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who also wrote the film's title song. They also wrote Hound Dog, Trouble, Loving You, Santa Claus Is Back in Town, King Creole, Loving You and other songs Elvis recorded.
Trouble
A performance from Elvis' fourth film, 1958's King Creole - the most critically acclaimed of his movies and his personal favorite. The scene has young Danny Fisher (Elvis Presley) singing Trouble for gangster boss Maxie Fields (Walter Matthau) in what must be one of the classiest Elvis movie scenes.
One Night
From the June 1968 taping of Elvis' '68 Comeback TV special. His original 1958 single release of One Night peaked at #4 in the USA and was #1 for 3 weeks in the UK.
A Big Hunk 'o Love
January 14, 1973, from the concert in Honolulu presented as the global television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii. Elvis' original 1959 single release of A Big Hunk o' Love was #1 for 2 weeks in the USA and peaked at #4 in the UK.
Wooden Heart
A performance from 1960's GI Blues - Elvis' fifth movie and the first after his discharge from the US Army. The single was #1 for 6 weeks in the UK.
Rock-A-Hula Baby
From the 1961 film Blue Hawaii. As the flipside of Can't Help Falling in Love from the same film, Elvis' release of Rock-a-Hula Baby shared a 4-week run at #1 in the UK.
Bossa Nova Baby
From the 1963 film Fun in Acapulco. The single release peaked at #8 in the USA and #13 on the UK pop chart.
If I Can Dream
Elvis' classic live performance of If I Can Dream in the white suit, as seen as the finale of his '68 Comeback TV special, combined with components of two lip-synch performances in black leather that were shot during production but not used in the special. This version first appeared on the 2004 release Elvis: '68 Comeback Special - Deluxe Edition DVD as a special bonus feature.
Don't Cry Daddy
Filmed at Elvis' summer 1970 engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas during production of the concert documentary film Elvis, That's the Way It Is. The 1969 single peaked at # 6 in the USA and #8 in the UK.
An American Trilogy
From the 1973 global television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii. This performance is considered by many to be Elvis' finest recording of this piece, which was often a dramatic highlight of his concert set list of the 1970s.

Janis And Elvis Reissue.
El Toro Records offers a new CD version to mark the golden anniversary, 50 years on from the legendary original issue of the brief union of Janis Martin and Elvis Presley, boosted with 18 additional tracks.
Synopsis:
One of the rarest and most sought-after record releases from the last half-century of Elvis Presley collectibles, South Africa's 10" LP 'Janis and Elvis' was issued in 1958 through Teal Records, the company who had the local license to issue RCA records in South Africa at the time. The elusive original LP now commands figures in excess of $5,000.
Featuring just four songs apiece from the two artists featured (the first eight tracks of this CD), the Elvis selection was inexplicably drawn entirely from his Sun recordings with Scotty Moore and Bill Black – specifically from his third and fourth Sun singles from 1955 – while Janis Martin's tracks were gleaned from her second and fourth RCA singles from 1956. Amazingly, although it had formed half of her third release, Janis's now famous early tribute to the Hillbilly Cat - 'My Boy Elvis' - was not even considered for inclusion on the LP.
A sad postscript. After years out of the music scene, in recent times Janis - "The Female Elvis", as she'd been dubbed by RCA - was back in business, performing and recording a new album produced by Rosie Flores. She'd been due to appear at an Americana Festival in Britain earlier this year and then again at the Rhythm Riot, Camber Sands, this coming November. Shortly before the first event she fell ill, by late August she'd been diagnosed with terminal cancer, within two weeks she passed way on 3rd September. This CD release was of course planned long before the rapid and tragic turn of events. R.I.P.

Vince Vaughn's Elvis Act Fails To Impress.
Vince Vaughn was booed off the stage after failing to impress the audience with his Elvis impression.
The 'Wedding Crashes' actor was drinking with a friend at Los Angeles' Bordello club when he decided to storm the stage and launch into a drunken and out of tune rendition of Elvis track 'Little Sister'.
An eyewitness said: "After the rockabilly band finished a song, Vince must have decided that everyone was dying to hear him sing! He suddenly climbed on stage and talked to a band member off to the side, then grabbed the microphone and announced, 'I'm gonna do an Elvis song!' Everyone was excited at first since Vince is a celebrity.
"He started singing 'Little Sister', but he was off key and seemed to stumble through the lyrics. The regular crowd was not impressed at all. They actually started booing halfway through the song, and when he was through, one guy yelled out, 'Hey Vince - don't quit your day job!' "
According to the onlooker, the 37-year-old actor looked dishevelled and "glassy-eyed" when he arrived at the venue at around 10pm on August 24. The source added: "Vince already seemed a little glassy-eyed when he came into the club, but the first thing he did was to order a couple of cocktails
"He hadn't shaved and looked like he needed sleep."

The Elvis Prophecy.
(X FACTOR: Author Allan says no musician can equal the popularity of Elvis Presley. His latest novel blends historical fact and fiction to create an ‘irresistable thriller’. Photo Credit: George Munro)
PICTURE the scene. Bonnie Prince Charlie arrives in Scotland to take on the might of the British Army and claim his father’s crown.
Meanwhile, Elvis’s ancestor, Andrew Presley, is given a mission. He has to kill the Prince, or Andrew’s brother will hang.
Can he bring himself to do it? And, if so, what does The Prophecy mean?
The answers to both questions can be found within the pages of an exciting new novel penned by Inverclyde author Allan Morrison.
After spending countless hours researching and confirming the fact that Andrew Presley sailed from Greenock to start a new life in America in 1745, Allan decided to turn him into a hero for his new book — The Presley Prophecy — that is now being sold worldwide.
Allan, 64, who has written 12 books, said: “I read an article that said Elvis’s ancestor came from Paisley and I am always looking for ideas for a book and thought it would make a good story.
“I was in Sarasota in America in 2000 and went to the Church of the Latter Day Saints because they keep a record of everybody and their granny.”
He admits he was doubtful about finding a Scottish link but when he discovered Andrew Presley was from Scotland, and the first Presley to cross the Atlantic in 1745, he thought he had ‘hit gold’.
Allan said: “I came back to Scotland and went through all the records in Edinburgh.” Before long, he had uncovered details of two Andrew Presleys in Aberdeenshire in the early 1700s — one who was married in Lonmay in 1713 and another who wed at Cruden in 1725.
It has not been possible to prove which was the father of the Andrew Presley who made his way to America in 1745 as, at the time, it was common for all first-born sons to be named after their fathers.
However, it is known that the Andrew Presley who went to the USA continued to work as a blacksmith on reaching Anderson County in North Carolina.
The same year he left Scotland, Bonnie Prince Charlie — the leader of the Jacobite Movement — landed from France. He wanted to raise an army to challenge King George to regain the throne of Britain for his father, James, who was in exile in Italy.
Allan, who is from Greenock but now lives in Gourock, said: “I have taken Andrew Presley and made him my hero.” He describes his book as a ‘faction novel’ saying it is based on 60 per cent fact. He also includes a genealogy section of the book which is 100 per cent accurate.
Referring to the fictional aspect, Allan said: “In 1745, Andrew Presley escapes from Scotland to America. While he and his beloved — I put a female in it — are waiting on a boat to go to America they hide at the bottom of a well where there is a rock.”
He revealed that inspiration for the well comes from the well in Wellpark, Greenock, and Andrew Presley was hiding (in his fictitious form) from the Hanoverians. What happens next can’t be revealed as it would spoil the story that took Allan five years to write.
The book took so long because Allan was working simultaneously on other projects. However, the publication has been timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Elvis’s death.
Allan, who likes to listen to Elvis’s gospel music while driving, said: “I have always liked Elvis — I am a moderate fan. I like rock’n’ roll — Elvis, Queen, The Beatles, Billy Joel all that kind of stuff. Elvis has the X factor. No one else has equalled his popularity.”
When Allan is not writing, he spends his spare time handling PR and fund-raising for Greenock Medical Aid Society on a voluntary basis.
He is also a member of Greenock Rotary, the George Square Baptist Church, an armchair Morton supporter, and has bagged 93 Munros.
Allan worked at IBM for 31 years and retired from his role as personnel manager 10 years ago, which is when he started writing. He has now had 12 books published, 11 by NWP.
Elvis starred in 33 films and sold more than a billion records — more than any other artist. He recorded more than 600 songs but did not write any. Today there are 200,000 tribute acts performing under his name around the world.
Allan is married to Lorna and dad to Craig, 34, and Lynne, 37. He also has four grandchildren.
He said: “No one in the world can go through a week without coming across Elvis’s name in the media.
“There are more than 600 fan clubs in the world. A lot of fans are under 30 — and he has been dead for 30 years — so the guy had something.
“When you go to Aberdeenshire, there is nothing for Elvis fans. It is little homesteads and farms.
“If Grampian and the Scottish Tourist Board could get their act together they could have something that commemorates Presley coming from Scotland.
“If he had come from Ireland there would be statues all over the place, but in Scotland there is nothing.
“They should zero in on that because tourism is Scotland’s biggest industry. No one has picked up on the Sottish link. I am amazed someone hasn’t done something.”

Bastiaan Ragas: 'most shocking experience in my life' .
This week, the Dutch magazine 'Weekend' publishes an interview with Bastiaan Ragas - the special guest singer in Holland (September 20th, Eindhoven) for the ELVIS 2007 show.
Bastiaan explains how he has experienced the two "most shocking moments" of his life: the sudden death of his brother Rief, at 42, and the chance to perform with the live band of his idol.
The news magazine thought that Bastiaan's performance was "spectacular" - and we couldn't agree more.

Elvis Singer Becomes Elvis Painter.
TUPELO - The "voice" of Elvis Presley spent five months rendering the image of Tupelo's favorite son.
"This painting, to me, says everything that needs to be said about Elvis," Ronnie McDowell said of his work, "Remembering the King."
Wednesday, he donated a framed print to the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum. The art depicts a 10-year-old boy holding a guitar and looking into a mirror in a room modeled after the Birthplace.
The reflection is considerably older with familiar black hair, purple shirt and a suggestive look in his eyes.
"The look says, Are you really sure we want to get into this and die at 42?'" said McDowell, a Hendersonville, Tenn., resident.
The painting was McDowell's way of marking the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death.
The country singer got his first taste of fame with "The King is Gone," which he wrote in 1977 after learning the music had died. The song helped jumpstart a career that's included hits like "Older Women" and "You're Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation."
The connection with Elvis persists. When a television or movie company needs an Elvis song, Ronnie McDowell gets the call. It can cost "a blue fortune" to buy rights to original recordings, McDowell said.
"I've done 12 movies, 29 commercials and one Twilight Zone,'" McDowell said. "How cool can that be? I'm still getting royalty checks for Twilight Zone.'"
McDowell's never had an art lesson, but he's painted throughout his life. He began "Remembering the King" in April and finished in August.
"This painting is exactly what I saw in my brain," McDowell said. "I just wanted to do something special, something to honor Elvis."

The cause of death of 29-year-old Misty Carner has been determined to be "polydrug abuse," indicating that a combination of cocaine, methadone and two types of antidepressants killed her. In addition, she was found to be three months pregnant
Carner's body was found July 16 by the residents of an Interlachen home who discovered the woman in their bedroom, dead after an apparent burglary attempt. The toxicology report released Wednesday was conducted by Dr. Terrence Steiner, the 23rd District Medical Examiner in St. Augustine. Maj. Keith Riddick, chief of detectives and a spokesman for the sheriff's office said he has never seen a situation in which a burglar dies during the commission of the crime in 27 years of law enforcement.
Polydrug abuse occurs when someone takes two or more different kinds of drugs that have different reactions and often includes alcohol use. The combination of stimulants (uppers) and depressants (downers) can overwhelm the heart, causing heart failure. It was reported as the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith, River Phoenix and Elvis Presley. Riddick said the fact Carner was pregnant and so heavily into drugs is particularly heartbreaking.

As most of you will now appreciate the new Singles Campaign in the UK is well under way. All of the singles so far released have entered into the Top 20 with the last four entering at No.14.
Bearing the above situation in mind several fans have decided to give 'In The Ghetto' a 'special push' in order for it to get into the Top 10. The release date is 5th November (Guy Fawkes Night).
The main thing that fans can do is to try and get it some airplay and this can best be achieved by going to the following site and e-mailing individual DJ's - www.mediauk.com/radio/ at the radio stations listed from A to Z.
Should any fans on this site wish to send in some e-mail requests then this would be most appreciated. Bearing in mind the release date, e-mails to the DJ's would best be sent around mid to late October to take account of programme scheduling.
Thanks.

Puddle of Mudd Banned From Graceland for Stupidity.
![]()
It's good to see that some things never change. Even though they are a few years past their heyday, Puddle of Mudd's Wes Scantlin is still a bozo.Puddle of Mudd's Famous comes out on October 9th and what a perfect way to hype your new CD then to get banned from Graceland for doing something really stupid like jumping into the Kings pool because you just feel like it.
The hype or rather announcement reads: Puddle of Mudd has been banned from Graceland! The band was touring the mansion of Elvis Presley on September 24th when front man Wesley Scantlin decided to jump into the pool.
The guards removed him and he is now banned from Graceland for life!
"I just wanted to go for a swim," he said.

House panel Debates Hip-Hop Lyrics.
Two rappers, sitting side-by-side in a House hearing room, went in different directions Tuesday on the need for hip-hop artists to expunge their work of sexist and violent language. One, Master P, apologized to women for past songs that demeaned them, while another was defiant.
Former gangsta rapper Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, told a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing that he is now committed to producing clean lyrics. The angry music of his past, he said, came from seeing relatives and friends shot and killed. But he said now that he doesn't want his own children to listen to his music, "so if I can do anything to change this, I'm going to take a stand and do that."
... But rapper and record producer Levell Crump, known as David Banner, was defiant as lawmakers pressed him on his use of offensive language. "I'm like Stephen King: horror music is what I do," he said in testimony laced with swear words."Change the situation in my neighborhood and maybe I'll get better," he told one member of Congress.
... In the '50s people were deeply offended by Elvis Presley, and a decade later many were scandalized by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, said Edgar Bronfman Jr., chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group. ...He said his company takes an active role in editing obscenities out of music videos and excising gang symbols or portrayals of violence, but "we also believe that it is not our role to censor the creative expression of artists."

Memories Of King As Elvis Plaque Unveiled At Prestwick Terminal.
The shops are new, the bar is new, and so are many of the routes. But it was the memories that took wing yesterday when Prestwick Airport unveiled its latest face-lift.
The occasion was marked by the unveiling of a plaque in honour of - who else - Elvis Presley, set Sunset Boulevard-fashion in the concourse floor. Airport publicists had cranked up the nostalgia by bringing in Elvis impersonator Gordon Hendricks, but if anyone there could tell him from the real thing it was Ian Ghee.
In 1960 Mr Ghee, now 74, was an Air Ministry photographer seconded to the US Air Force, his beat ranging from accident reports, PR work, and keeping the GIs' local papers back home supplied with pictures of their boys over here. His boss asked him to come back into work that night because "someone special" was coming in, but to keep it under his hat.
Only when he was heading for home did the major let him into the secret. The incoming VIP was Sgt Elvis Presley, on a refuelling stopover on his way from Germany to the US at the end of his two years' national service.
Mr Ghee got busy taking pictures and his brother Robert, whom he had smuggled in, got busy introducing himself to the King, helping him out when he went into the sergeant's mess to phone his girlfriend Priscilla back in Frankfurt.
"Where am I, again?"
"You're in Prestwick, Scotland." Mr Ghee did not do too badly either. His negatives were later auctioned by Christie's for £7500, a fair sum for those days given that the pictures' significance was fully appreciated.
Since his retirement he has followed fellow-snappers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Cecil Beaton by turning to the canvas, photographing landscapes in the summer and painting them in winter. The unveiling of the plaque was performed by transport minister Stewart Stevenson, who has his own memories of the place. A qualified pilot, he has gone one better than Elvis by flying himself in and out of Prestwick on a number of occasions.
However, he recalled: "The first time I came here was 20 years ago, when I flew in a Tupolev 104 on an Aeroflot charter to Moscow, an experience I am not signing up to repeat any time soon.
"But at the time the facilities at Prestwick were a great comfort before I went and, on my return, something of a relief."
As part of the revamp, the airport has introduced a number of new retail brands and a bar, while the departures lounge has a new tax and duty free store.

"Elvis is the KING" says Stephen King!.
In Entertainment Weekly, writer Stephen King lists his choice of 'The 24 Greatest Rock Songs Ever Made'.
About the list Stephen king said, "The stuff that hasn't stood the test of time went out. When 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds' or 'Born to Be Wild' comes on my car radio (which is, by the way, a NO SUPREMES ZONE), I break my fingers switching the station!
These outdated songs have nothing new to say to me.. . . The songs that I finally chose on my list do always have something new to say. Trust your Uncle Stevie on this!" -So the nice surprise is that Elvis makes the list 3 times:
16. 'Don't Be Cruel' - Total bebop testifying. Brian Setzer would sell his soul to do this.10. 'A Big Hunk o' Love' - Almost eclipsed by Elvis' screaming vocal is the rock era's best barrelhouse piano.
2. 'Burning Love' - He saved the best for last. Lawd-a-mighty, I feel my temperature rising.
In fact Stephen King is a big Elvis fan with regular references to Elvis in his stories. In 'Nightmares and Dreamscapes' a Stephen King collection of short horror stories features a tale called 'You Know They Got a Hell of Band' which depicts Rock & Roll Heaven, Oregon, a town where Elvis is mayor and the rest of the living dead range from Hendrix and Joplin to Duane Allman and Buddy Holly!
Stephen King was asked in an interview, "Who is the bigger KING, you or Elvis?"
He replied, "Elvis is the KING. Elvis will always be the KING. However, there is this, I am still alive."You can't deny that the man is a fan! ....

Discover Elvis Legacy Recordings releases a series of 4 CDs available only at Wal-Mart.
"Discover Elvis", "Discover More", "Discover Further" and "Discover Beyond". All CDs have 5 tracks and you can get them together in the "Full Discover Package". This is the promotional text on Legacy's website:
"Some things there’s just no debating: In all of the 20th century, Elvis Presley delivered music and culture their most devastating right hook. The Mississippi-born, Memphis-bred singer dropped all contenders in the ’50s, and then spent the next decades taking victory laps in the stripped-down, sexed-up vehicle he’d helped build: rock ’n’ roll.
Presley was a lightning rod, catching every charged element in the turbulent atmosphere of postwar America : hillbilly abandon and the raw nerve of urban R&B, impatient youth’s pounding on the windows for change, and, most of all, the country’s pent-up lust to cut loose after years of bad news and hard times. His image alone — an eye-rolling, crotch-thrusting cat with sideburns and a wild-striped sports coat — seemed to flip a middle digit to all that was reserved and righteous.
Among his first strikes were “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Hound Dog,” two shotgun blasts out of ’56 that took all the restraint out of popular music. The former’s a naked blues that riffs on romantic desperation without a hint of relief; the latter is two minutes of hell-bent vocals, red-hot guitar, and machine-gun drums that became the de facto Declaration Of Independence for the new teenage nation. By the late ’60s, Presley had matured but lost none of his pure, uncut power, slamming home hits like the soul-stoked “Suspicious Minds” and “Kentucky Rain.”
Put it this way: Without Elvis, there would be no Beatles, no Dylan, no Stones, and no punk rock. With him, America, pop music, and the world as we knew it changed forever."

Swedish applause for ELVIS 2007.
It looks as if the show “ELVIS 2007” is leaving a trail of happy, excited, cheering fans every where they go.
Yesterday, the original Elvis cast arrived in the Swedish town of Jönköping, where they were greeted in a sold out showroom.
Special guests here were – among others – the local sixties celebrity and ever popular Svenne Handlund (who did ‘Love Me Tender’) and former minister and saxophone player Alf Svensson.
Today, the group plays the same showroom before travelling to Norway on Thursday for the 6th show in 8 days.

Self-Image.
The writer channels his vitality where it is needed at the moment. He jumps from one thing to another with a minimum of stress. There is no special emphasis on any particular area of life, but he seems to fling the energy in a variety of directions with little focus. Some part of his body is always moving in a constant discharge of energy. Flexible and ready to adapt, he has no trouble making last-minute adjustments.
Elvis suffers from a strong degree of internal conflict, feeling pulled first one way, then another. These conflicts may be related to a particular situation, but it is more likely the way he generally faces life. His sense of pride compels him to do his best, always. He wants others to see him in the best possible light, so that if he believes he has been less than authentic, it leaves him feeling troubled and let down. Elvis tries to use good judgment, but his emotions often get the better of him.
Graphological justification: Emphasis is on the picture of movement. There is very little rhythm or regularity in the writing, and the organization is disturbed; but the clear line spacing indicates some ability to keep his perspective. The lower zone is disproportionate to the other zones, and is overly long and malformed. This indicates unresolved conflicts and past issues. As Felix Klein might say, "he dipped his bucket into the well of the subconscious and did not like what he found there."
Inner Drives
It is important for Elvis to make sure his expectations are within a realistic range; otherwise he will set himself up for disappointment. He has high standards for himself, sometimes beyond what he can handle. He is not possessive or jealous about ownership, but has a rather casual approach. Elvis enjoys beautiful, luxurious surroundings as much as the next person, but he can perform just as well in less elegant surroundings. He is somewhat torn between being conservative and being extravagant. While he may be artful and inventive, Elvis does not appear to have the confidence needed to allow his creativity to blossom to its full potential without support and encouragement.
Graphological justification: Again, movement is emphasized. He is driven, rather than being the driver. There is a lack of proper steering, which suggests someone who was restless and uncertain about where he wanted to go. The tall upper zone and high-crossed t-bars indicate his high standards and need to push himself beyond his limitations. The muddy ductus may be at least partly due to multi-generational photocopies, but it does seem to point to what is known about Elvis as someone who over-indulged in drugs and other sensual outlets. The secondary threading is a sign of feeling "strung out."
Intellectual Style
He is willing to listen to new ideas even when they do not match his current perceptions, and his point of view is open to adjustment on some levels. Stimulated by opportunities for learning, he is quick to take hold of new information. A quick thinker who uses good judgment, Elvis finds it natural to tap into his intuition and sum up people or situations quickly and easily.
Graphological justification: Although there is a great deal of repression in the writing, the overall spacial arrangement is open. There are also occasionally some expanded letters in the upper zone. Thus, even though he preferred to stick with what he knew intellectually, he was not totally closed-minded. Intuition is indicated in the thready quality of the connecting strokes, with wide letter spacing in many words. However, the inconsistency reveals that he more often would jump to conclusions without benefit of enough facts.
Social StyleHis apparent generosity may have a hidden price. It could be money, time, or admiration. In other words, he may be tempted to buy friendships. He gives indication of being forthright in what he says, but what he does not say and does not talk about may be entirely another matter. Keeping a sense of humor helps him see the lighter side of things. When Elvis needs some space, you can expect him to disappear for a while, physically, emotionally, or both. He welcomes physical contact and loves to hug and hold his partner close. Elvis expects you to take care of yourself while visiting at his home. His outward restraint may lead others to believe he is shy, but modest probably is a more accurate term. He probably makes sure you are well supplied with food and drink, then leaves you to take care of yourself.
Graphological justification: The long, wandering lower zone and overall picture of restless movement are often chosen by those who are profligate in their generosity. Add to that the lack of controls and excess and extravagance are indicated. The irregularity in letter and word spacing, combined with the extremely variable middle zone show difficulty with social boundaries. His affability and congeniality would be mixed with bursts of irritability and a need to be alone, which could make life difficult for those in his sphere of influence, as they would never know what was coming.
Emotional Responses
His enthusiasm is highly contagious. Elvis has a big heart that often overflows with emotion. Once he takes up a cause, it is only a matter of time before everyone around him joins him in it. He will attempt certain activities or tasks if he has been successful at the same thing in the past. However, if his endeavors have proved unsuccessful, he is less likely to try again. He is reasonably resourceful, but prefers to take a conservative path when problems arise. His concern for others, while strong, is not carried to extremes. When Elvis is feeling down and depressed, afraid that his hopes and dreams are not going to materialize, he is apt to engage in positive self-talk. He tells himself that tomorrow is another day and things are bound to get better.
Graphological justification: The overflowing of emotion is seen in the strong variability and inconsistency manifest throughout the writing (the original sample is 5 pages). A combination of thread and angles is used by the manipulator who does whatever is expedient to get his needs met. The tendency towards conservatism whenever possible is revealed in the copybook style of writing and the retracings and narrowness which show fear of the unknown.
Work Style
He is diligent in pursuing his goals, even when they are not as interesting as he thought they would be. When he faces too many obstacles or if a project becomes too routine and boring, he may be tempted to give up. However, an innate sense of responsibility keeps him going until he has finished what he started.
Graphological justification: Again, the restless movement, including unsteady baseline and uneven right margin suggest someone who tends to be easily sidetracked. However, he does continue to the end of the line and has apparent strong pressure (inconclusive due to examining a photocopy), which help see him through.
Red Flags
A need for excessive control may prompt this person to demean others and build himself up to make them feel less. A lack of inhibitions indicates someone who does not always consider the needs of others. Therefore, he is probably not averse to taking up the time, energy, and resources of others, whether they welcome his presence or not. Elvis is the type of person for whom every relationship degenerates into a power struggle. He must be right, must win, must come out on top in every discussion.
He seems to be looking for satisfaction from sources outside himself, rather than seeing that his needs must first be met on an inner level. Elvis has a variety of responses to similar situations: blunt one minute, bold, full-speed-ahead the next; back-into-the-shell, you first, out of my way, I refuse to move, and so on. He is restive and unsettled, which can cause a sense of unease in the people around him.
Graphological justification: More of the same. Restless movement, unevenness, variability. The need to be right is seen in the over-connectedness, which indicates an insistence on intellectualizing, or "thinking through" his feelings and trying to reason them out, rather than just feeling them.

Don't argue with The Rock - Elvis Has Not Left the Building.
(The Rock with director, Andy Fickman)
In the new Disney movie, "The Game Plan", wrestling superstar The Rock plays a professional grid iron quarterback who is a big fan of the King.
Johnson’s character’s obsessed with Elvis and the actor’s also a huge fan. “I love Elvis. The moment I sat down with Andy I said, ‘Andy, do you love Elvis?’ He said, ‘Absolutely!’ And we went for it. It was another fun way of adding a layer to the character that might be interesting.
Again, self-deprecating comedy is great. I love the fact that he was singing to her in a very sweet and tender moment, and she says, ‘I think you sound like a wounded moose.’ I love that type of comedy and how the joke falls back on me.For an actor to sing in a movie, and play the guitar, it’s really not funny. You’re like, ‘Oh, he can sing and play guitar.’ But the joke makes it funny, when it falls back on him.”
Johnson’s personal favorite Elvis song is Are You Lonesome Tonight but don’t ask him to sing it for you. “I can’t hold a tune,” confessed Johnson. “It was movie magic, in the studio.”
Fickman had a different take on Johnson’s singing skills. “A lot of times you have an actor who wants to pre-record their song. With pre-recording, you can go in and fix everything. That’s him playing the guitar and that’s him singing, and he was spot on. We didn’t go in and do any mixing. All of the Elvis estate and Graceland, everybody, has seen this performance and everyone’s just been so happy. It blew everybody.
