Review Sandi Pichon's Book "Elvis On Tour '75" .

After receiving and reading my copy of the latest book by Sandy H. Pichon “Elvis On Tour ‘75” released by Praytome Publishing, I couldn’t resist to bringing a few thoughts to paper.

At first glance this seems to be a picture book that has little to offer text wise. How wrong can you be? Sure, there isn’t a lot of text in the book, but the things that are written make you think.

Combined with the pictures, the text as written by Sandy Pichon, plays a movie between your ears. This movie created a new perspective to me about Elvis.

I always saw Elvis on stage as an entity with a band performing for an audience. When Praytome Publishing came up with their DVD releases (Behind the Image & Adrenaline) it changed my way of thinking about Elvis and his band.

Suddenly I could see the entity Elvis and his band, performing for an audience.

Now, with the story provided by Sandy Pichon, I’ll have to change my view again. The way she describes her preparations for every concert, like what to wear or what present to give to Elvis, is stunning.

I never realized what interaction there was between Elvis fans, how they knew each other and how they helped each other. For those who never saw Elvis perform it opens a new world. It’s so different to what we’re used to, past August 1977.

From Elvis untimely death on, every fan was on his own gathering as much as he could to keep it for his own. Sandy Pichon tells you how it was to be a fan when Elvis was still alive. (Can you, for instance, imagine leaving the concert before the show is over?)

Another amazing thing is the way she describes how Elvis reacted to his fans. The fact that he knew and recognized some of them, the way he communicated with them during his concerts, are things I never thought about from a fans perspective.

Suddenly you understand why Elvis never saw an empty seat during his concerts.

It’s also amazing to hear first hand, how Elvis treated his fans when he wasn’t performing on stage. Like I said before, it gives you a different view on Elvis.

The next thing to have a look at, are the pictures used in this book.

First I have to say that the lady responsible for the layout, Regina Wiegand, did a tremendous job. Layout wise, this is by far the best publication by Praytome Publishing.

To be honest I can’t think of any book at all, that comes close to it.

About the pictures that are used in this book I’m not sure what’s more important. Would it be the many unseen pictures or would it be the exceptional quality of them.

Decide for yourself, there are countless pictures in this book. Many of them you’ve never seen before. All pictures are of an unbelievable high quality! They are clean, colorful and they all have the right colors. Many pictures are razor sharp too.

I’m not sure if it’s the right thing to say, but I’ll do it anyway because it’s my honest opinion; This book makes the highly praised Sean Shaver books look like a cheap magazine.

To recapitulate, Sandy Pichon has written a great text that makes you re-think Elvis (not only) in 1975. Regina Wiegand did a tremendous job on the layout and Praytome Publishing gave us breathtaking pictures in an unseen quality.

Mixed together these three ingredients are responsible for the best Elvis concert picture book from the 70s I’ve seen.

If Praytome Publishing continues with this concept of creating an ultimate book on a certain concert or concerts (which I hope they’ll do), this book will be hard to top!

But, for the sake of all Elvis fans I sincerely hope they will!

Nofrad, July 2007.

The book is in stock and can be ordered through the official website of www.praytome-publishing.com  or directly from your local Elvis Dealer.

BACK IN MEMPHIS SHOW.

Megan Murphy has emailed me her latest research for the show:

In anticipation of our Back In Memphis show, I have found these youtube clips of BJ Thomas singing some of his hits and some Elvis went on to record.

I also included 2 popular songs recorded by Dickey Lee. Lee went on to write some very famous songs such as She Thinks I Still Care which Elvis recorded among many others.

He also co wrote some very popular country songs such as Keeper of The Stars by Tracey Byrd. I hope you all enjoy these clips.

If you have any friends who have not yet ordered their tickets for Elvis Unlimited's Back In Memphis concert on August 17,2007, send them this email! Or have them email me for tickets. The show is almost sold out!

We have many surprises in store for you that evening. Anyone who misses the show will be kicking themselves!

What a wonderful way to end Elvis Week! A concert like this has never and probably will never happen again so do not miss out!

Elvis Unlimited Inside Series Box - Sets.

Andylon Lensen just talked with Henrik Knudsen by phone on the future for the Inside Series Box - Sets.

And just recieved the confirmation to publish this for our EpGold readers as a scoop:

Ger Rijff, Megan Murphy and Elvis Unlimited book plans are on the Inside series; Love Me Tender, Blue Hawaii and Viva Las Vegas for now….

But we work on the side with all possible movie titles as the success and the demand for this series is so hugh, that we have been more less asked to do them and continue the series.

Also the original cast who have got the boxsets are very impressed and are telling their collegues about us, so a lot of info is coming our way.

Thanks to all…

Henrik Knudsen.

Own website for Larry Geller.

New on the internet is Larry Geller’s website. Larry Geller was more than Elvis Presley’s personal hairstylist.

He was his close confidant and, in many ways, his spiritual mentor, in a relationship that lasted from 1964 until the day he did Elvis’ hair for the funeral in 1977.

One of LA’s premier celebrity hairstylists in the 1960’s, a spiritual seeker since his teens, vegetarian, and student of natural nutrition and alternative healing, Larry has dedicated his life to telling the story of the real Elvis Presley.

His new website includes excerpts from his books, galleries, event calendar and contact info.

Bud Glass' Behind The Image - The Book Sold Out In The U.S.

We have received the news directly from author Bud Glass that he has no longer copies of his very first book "Elvis - Behind The Image" - The Book available.

This book soon became the additional title of "Queen of Candids" because with its personal memories from the journal entries of Sandi Miller and her personal photos along with unpublished candids from the collection of Russ Howe this type of book set a new standard in sharing the private side of Elvis with his fans.

As the subtitle said: You know the legend, now meet the man.

An Australian Fan club stated that "Behind The Image is the best book done on Elvis".

Being sold out now, this book will become a high collectible and will be soon on the top of fan's "MOST WANTED ELVIS ITEMS" wishlists.

Now marked as being sold out, you should not miss your chance and opportunity to order one of the remainder of stock of Volume 2 - Behind The Image The Book.

It looks like, from the Wal Mart site, that the 1-Disc version has a black background and the 2-Disc version has a brown background.

TV LAND LANDMARK: ELVIS IN BRONZE.

Music legend. Pop icon. The King of rock ‘n’ roll. Elvis Presley electrified the world and endeared himself to generations of fans with his talent, charisma, good looks, humor and genuine kindness.

On July 26th, 2007 TV Land and the city of Honolulu, Hawaii honored Elvis during the 30th anniversary year of his passing with a life-sized bronze sculpture commemorating the King’s 1973 "Aloha from Hawaii” concert.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann and Pop Icon and Hawaii celebrity, Tom Moffatt were among Honolulu dignitaries who participated in the statue’s unveiling.

The sculpture was created with the permission and involvement of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. and now graces The Neal S. Blaisdell Center, formerly The Honolulu International Center, which was the site of the historic "Aloha from Hawaii" concert.

Elvis In Brand New National Archives.

More than 6 million film and recording artifacts — including footage of Elvis’s gyrations — have a new home on a hillside in this town southwest of Washington, D.C. The National Audio-Visual Conservation Center was officially turned over to the Library of Congress on Thursday.

The three-building complex brings together all the library's scattered recordings and conservation staff in a specially equipped center for the first time. "It assures the permanent storage and preservation and heightened access to the audiovisual heritage of the last 110 years," said James H. Billington, the librarian of Congress.

A $155 million gift from David Woodley Packard, son of the co-founder of Hewlett-Packard Co., and the Packard Humanities Institute, helped make the center a reality. Congress appropriated $82 million for the project.

The trove of 6.3 million items includes footage of Elvis's 1964 movie "Viva Las Vegas," the complete set of Ed Sullivan's variety shows and footage of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's speech after the Pearl Harbor attack.

The oldest moving image in the collection is a five-second kinetoscope movie of a sneeze, made by Thomas Edison in 1894. The oldest sounds are on two wax cylinders produced by Chichester Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter in 1889. The library receives 120,000 gifts of film and sound a year. Mitch Miller, for example, just sent 200 boxes of 16mm copies of his TV program from the 1960s.

A key mission of the center is to transfer unique historical images and sounds from fragile cylinders, tapes or films to digital files, which are less apt to deteriorate. The electronic versions also can be summoned by researchers at the Library of Congress buildings in Washington. The center contains 415,000 square feet — about eight times the size of the White House.

"The reason we spent so much money is that it required a lot of money. There wasn't any way to do it unless we were willing to make a large commitment," Packard told The Washington Post. "The storage facilities are better than the library has ever had in the past and better than some standards for preservation recommend," said Gregory Lukow, the center's chief. The center brings together materials that were once divided among centers on Capitol Hill and in Maryland, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Nicola Congiu.

Nicola Congiu, the sympathic Italian singer with the golden voice will leave in October for Los Angeles.

He will seek glory in the United States with the help of Mr Steve Binder. Steve was in 1968 the director of the Comeback Special of Elvis Presley and saw big interest for Nicola in the music business since they met in Knokke (Belgium) and Rotterdam (Holland) during the shows of the United Elvis Presley Society and it's Elvis Time.

More than 1500 happy Italian Elvisfans gave Nicola a standing ovation during his probably last "Elvis" Concert in Europe.

The little "Lido Adriano" was full of Elvis during the weekend of July 20-22. We sure will miss this fantastic singer and great band. Hopefully Steve Binder will make it all happen.

(Friends Marli Jenkins, foreground, and Camille Watts, both 16-year-olds from Kailua, place lei on the newly unveiled statue of Elvis Presley at a dedication ceremony today at the Neal Blaisdell Center)

Elvis Has Returned Next To The Building.

A life-sized Elvis Presley bronze statue was unveiled this morning a stone's throw from where the king of rock 'n' roll gave a historic satellite-live TV concert from the then-named Honolulu International Center Arena (now the Neal Blaisdell Center Arena) on Ward Avenue.

Between 500 and 600 people, mainly diehard Presley fans — who either saw him, wished they saw him or became Presleymaniacs after his death — waited in a hot morning sun for the unveiling. They cheered when the life-like replica, featuring Presley in a singing pose and wearing a costume replicating what he wore during the historic 1973 "Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii" concert, seen globally by an audience of 1.5 billion in 40 nations. More than half of the TV viewers in the U.S. also tuned in for that Honolulu concert.

Larry Jones, president of TV Land, the cable TV network which selected Honolulu for the Presley tribute to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death (Aug. 16, 1977) at age 42, told the crowd "the true king of rock 'n' roll" was home.

The bronze statue shows Presley clutching a microphone in his right hand, in his familiar beaded costume regalia, complete with elaborate belt with eagle emblems, numerous studs on the costume, and stars at his pleated bell-bottom trousers.

He stands on a pedestal that depicts an oversized recording, with a front plaque that reads: "Elvis Aloha From Hawaii ... The World's First Satellite TV concert, Jan.14, 1973 ... With supreme talent and sincere humility, Elvis Presley made his gift the world's ... Thank you, thank you very much ... From the People of TV Land."

Mayor Mufi Hannemann, describing himself as "the tallest Elvis mayor in the world," was the first to place a maile lei on Presley's extended left arm.

"I'm so happy and thankful that the statue's here," said Lovely Kwock, who was clutching photographs of herself with Presley taken when when she was 23 and when Presley was staying at the Ilikai hotel while filming "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" here. "I had to take a half-day off from work (Kuhio Elementary School) to be there. And I can stop by to see Elvis every day after work."

Talking Elvis.

Talking Presidents releases for sale the first two of a line of “talking” Elvis action figures. The products will be available to Graceland visitors and on-line at www.shopelvis.com  and   www.talkingpresidents.com  Standing 12 inches tall with fully pose-able bodies, they “talk” in Elvis’ own voice. They are displayed in an attractive collectible gift box (measuring 16.5 inches tall).

Fans/Collectors Are Talking Too - Press the button on the back of the doll. The micro-chip contains over a dozen sound bites of Elvis in his own voice, only you won’t hear all of those familiar song lyrics. Instead, it’s Elvis talking. He talks about cars, women, early success, his philosophy of life, telling jokes... getting serious...

With all the Elvis memorabilia out there, it is refreshing to have something new, a product that is totally unique.

We researched all known original recordings and radio interviews from the period (1954 - 1961), selecting over a dozen of the most interesting for each product. The result: you’ll “listen” to an intimate, thoughtful, reflective, prophetic, humorous, youthful, yet wise beyond his years Elvis.

These collectible action figures provide fans a side of the King they may not know. From the detailed biography on the back of the boxes to the beautiful photos found throughout, the collectible gift box is a fitting tribute to the King.

Talking Presidents worked meticulously with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. in every step of the design process to produce an authentic and authorized collectible. Even the “gold record” found at the base of the packaging contains an authorized re-creation of the famous SUN record label.

The two products differ in look, photos, sound-bites, and wardrobe (even the outfits are recreated to exacting detail from actual garments worn by Elvis, at that time). These are true and interestingly original new collectibles for Elvis fans and collectors of all ages.

Images below show the two Talking Elvis Dolls while the middle image is another EPE licensed item: Talking Elvis Desktop (of which there is also a Jailhouse Rock release).

History of Rock 'N' Roll #002) Good Rockin' Tonight.

Disc jockey Alan Freed was the first to call it "rock 'n' roll", but it was Elvis Aaron Presley who gave the new music sex appeal. This installment examines the impact rock 'n' roll's first wildmen-- Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley-- had on a generation. In the midst of all the excitement and controversy, rock's first martyrs were also created when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash on a snowy night in 1959. Songs featured include: The Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love," Roy Orbison's "Only the Lonely," and The Ronettes' "Be My Baby."

From "Heartbreak Hotel" to hip-hop and beyond, "The History of Rock 'N' Roll", a ten part documentary, is the story of the evolution of popular music, told through the music and words of the musicians who lived it. 60 min. Narrated by Gary Busey.

CD VIVA LAS VEGAS - Yes it is a NEW 1969 Show.

Just to confirm that the show on disc two is a new 69 show.

I just picked up a copy of VIVA LAS VEGAS and I'm listening to I GOT A WOMAN.

Mastered by Vic Anesini at Sony Studios NYC and disc two mixed by Ray Bardini at Electric lady studios, assistant engineer Dror Mohar.

Nice to hear drum and percussion fairly central with the lead vocal, the backing vocals to the left and J. Burton over on the right where he should be. (IMO)

From the back of the CD case:

"DISC 2 Previously unreleased concert, recorded at The International Hotel in Las Vegas, August 21, 1969 D.S.

This was the first concert recorded by RCA records' mobile unit during Elvis's triumphant return to Las Vegas and features the fantastic band that was later named the TCB (Taking Care Of Business) band by Elvis.

I'm not sure about the colourised mike amd mike stands on the black and white pictures in the booklet though, it sort of distracts from the GREAT B&W images themselves.

Arranging A 'Tribute To Elvis'

THE National Concert Hall in Dublin is the venue for over 20 world premieres from the pen of Sion Mills composer and arranger Brendan Breslin in a 'Tribute to Elvis'. In a show to mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, up to 100 performers from all over Ireland, including the current North of Ireland champions Strabane Concert Brass, will take to the National Concert Hall stage to perform Brendan's arrangements at the end of August.

Compositions and arrangements from the 26-year-old are earning critical acclaim at home and abroad and most recently he was commissioned to compose the opening fanfare for the conference of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. His compositions and arrangements have been played all over Ireland by both professional and amateur ensembles and his work has been featured on both radio and television.

Speaking ahead of the concert Brendan said, "It's a great honour to be involved in this project as I have been a huge Elvis fan all my life. To be asked to arrange such exciting music for such a large ensemble is a real privilege. It's great too that this concert will benefit the hospice, an association and group of people that can't be commended enough."

Brendan is the youngest son of Barney and Louise Breslin and currently resides in Dublin. The show, which is in association with Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross, Dublin, begins at 8pm in the main auditorium of the National Concert Hall on Saturday, August 25 and tickets are on sale in the National Concert Hall Box Office.

"It's a great honour to be involved in this project as I have been a huge Elvis fan all my life."

Warner Bros Discovers New Song!

This was published on several websites:

It looks as if Warner Bros (Benelux) has a way of messing a perfectly good release plan up.

Earlier on, Warner Bros launched the DVD campaign by advertising that Elvis has sold over “one million records worldwide”, and that massive quantities of drugs were found in Elvis’s body after he passed away.

Even on the official WB/Elvis site, Elvis's last name is misspelled. But if you thought that we’ve seen it all by now, think again. This time, Warner Bros can’t even get the track listing for their own Elvis DVD’s right.

All of a sudden, the new release of “Girl Happy” contains an extra track: “Good News”. Good news it is, and we can’t wait to see/hear the unknown song… Or is it another mistake?

Note EpGold:

In the movie, Nita Talbot is a stripper and she sings the song while wearing a dress that looks like the pages of a newspaper.

The scene of the song has lyrics like "come and get it, it's hot off the press." Shelley Fabares, who is drunk in the scene, gets on stage herself and sings some lines of the song as well.

On the song "Good News" , the correct title apparently is "I've Got News For You."

It was written by Randy Star and Fred Wise and sung by Nita Talbot and Shelley Fabares in the move "Girl Happy."

Randy Star and Fred Wise wrote a number of songs for Elvis, including "Kissin' Cousins," "Carny Town," "Look Out Broadway," "Datin'" and "Adam & Evil."

In some databases the song is called "Read All About It."

Elvis in Hawaii... Without His Lei??

A life sized statue of Elvis is to be unveiled today at the Neal Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, the former International Convention Center Arena, where Elvis performed his Aloha: From Hawaii concert in January 1973.

However, everyone is wondering why Elvis is in Hawaii without his lei, when usually he was smothered in them? Apparently, the flower design is too intricate for the statue, so fans can add their own lei and decorate Elvis... or can they?

With the statue standing almost 9ft tall, it will be almost impossible, but I'm sure someone will be the first of many to offer Elvis a lei, no matter how much of a stunt it turns out to be.

The statue is to be dedicated by the MTV division, TV Land, as their sixth landmark statue to honour people places and moments of pop culture, which depicts Elvis in his white American Eagle jumpsuit as he appeared in the groundbreaking live satellite broadcast.

Since his first visit to Hawaii in 1957, Elvis always loved the Hawaiian Islands and the Hawaiians loved him right back. His 1961 concert at the Bloch Arena raised $65,000 for the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbour and his 1973 Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii raised over $75,000 for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. He also filmed the movies Blue Hawaii, Girls!, Girls, Girls! and Paradise Hawaiian Style in Hawaii and also frequented the islands as a holiday destination.

The statue is to be unveiled by Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Tom Moffatt and TV Land President Larry W. Jones.

PROJECT FIT FOR A KING.

(Elvis lives. At least along part of the south Strip).

A real estate company with licensing rights to the estate of Elvis Presley, which recently took complete control of 18 acres on the southeast corner of Harmon Avenue and the Strip, plans to develop a mixed-used project stretching from the Harley-Davidson Cafe to the Smith & Wollensky building just north of the MGM Grand.

The company, New York-based FX Luxury Realty, said an Elvis theme will play a part.

"We intend to pursue a retail, hotel, casino and residential project on that property," said Ed Tagliaferri, spokesman for FX Luxury. "It is likely the property will be used, in part for an Elvis-themed development given that Elvis was the embodiment of Las Vegas."

The company did not release a time for any development.

FX Luxury had held a 50 percent interest in the land. It bought out an unidentified partner, according to a June 1 filing, for the remaining 50 percent for $180 million.

Bill Lerner, a gaming analyst at Deutsche Bank, said the land value comes to $36.7 million per acre with the assumption of debt. The value surpasses the roughly $35 million per acre New York-based developer Elad Properties is paying for the 34.5-acre New Frontier.

Some current tenants along the stretch of prime real estate are skeptical, though, noting that they have heard plans for the area before.

"I've been hearing plans here for 10 years," said Larry Miller, vice president of Harley-Davidson Café. "Every day there is another story."

The licensee of the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. opened its 20,000-square-foot restaurant on the corner in September 1997.

The cafe's location has been mentioned as a prime spot for redevelopment during the past few years as land prices along Las Vegas Boulevard continue to rise.

In 2005, a joint-venture partnership including entities of FX Luxury announced plans for two 55-story luxury hotel-condominium towers using the Harley-Davidson Cafe site.

"Everybody has ideas," Miller said. "People have called us numerous times. Everybody wants to do a lot of things.
Until anything is specific, we are going to continue to do business and serve good food."

Outside of the Harley- Davidson Cafe, most shop owners were reluctant to talk publicly about their futures.

One shop owner said his store runs on a month-to-month lease with a 30-day notice to vacate. He declined to comment further.

The 80,000-square-foot Hawaiian Marketplace is at the center of the land holdings.

The $175 million island-style shopping plaza opened in May 2004 with hopes of revitalizing the length of Strip for tourists between MGM Mirage and Planet Hollywood Resort. Sitting in front of the Polo Towers, the interior portion
of the marketplace sits largely empty with Pizza Hut Express, a Port of Subs and a KFC Express all closed.

Stephen Cloobeck, developer of the Polo Towers, said he holds deed and height restrictions on some of the land around the time share that could limit whatever FX Luxury is planning.

"I look forward to seeing what they purpose," said Cloobeck, chief executive officer of Diamond Resorts. "Anytime there is great developments, it's wonderful for the community."

FX Luxury is an affiliate of New York-based entertainment group CKX.

CKX now operates Presley's Graceland and the image, likeness and name of Presley and boxer Muhammad Ali, as well as the "Idol" television brand including "American Idol."

The company is working with Cirque du Soileil to develop a Presley-themed show for an 1,800-seat theater scheduled for MGM Mirage's $7.4 billion CityCenter scheduled to open December 2009.

FX Luxury also holds a 57 percent stake in investment group Riv Acquisition Holdings.

The group is awaiting an answer to a $461 million buyout offer made in May for the Riviera's parent company, Riviera Holdings Corp.

As talk continues about all the plans, Miller said the cafe will continue to operate under its current multiyear lease.

"We intend to be there," said Miller from his New York office. "We continue to do business every day."

"Elvis at 3"

We received the small statue of "Elvis at 3" this morning by mail, a gift from Michiel Van der Sommen.

Because he got the idea from Maureen my wife when she showed him the Iconic photo of the Presley family taken in 1938 the photos show toddler Elvis a little darker than the statue actually is.

It's really quite cute and sure to be appreciated by the vast majority of Elvis Presley fans worldwide.

Artists the calibre of Michiel are few and far between.

The New Frontier Auction.

The Las Vegas hotel where Elvis made his debut is selling all its contents, but don’t get too excited – after trawling through the 700 plus lots on
www.greatamerican.com  there are no remains of the era when Elvis made his debut performance there.

Instead if you want a collectable from an old piece of Elvis and Vegas history, or if you want to open your own New Frontier in Elvis’ honour, you can buy all the gaming tables, chairs, playing cards, cashier cages, catering equipment, bedroom furniture and almost you need. Even the chandeliers, neon signs and palm tress are for sale (now they may date back to ’56).
Finally the famous neon sign also needs a home, but that may remain in Las Vegas in the Neon Sign Museum.

As a note to those visiting Las Vegas this summer, some of the original signs that do date back to Elvis’ day are hidden in the neon sign boneyard. Peep over the fence and you can see the original Aladdin’s lamp, from the hotel where Elvis wed Priscilla, and original signs from the Frontier that would date back to the 50s.

Lucille Ball Confronted Elvis About His Drug Use.

EIN found this message on the alt.elvis.king board interesting:

lolajo: Marty, In Sonny West's new book, he says that even Lucille Ball confronted Elvis about his drug use and she was summarily shown the door. Were you there when this happened? If so, how did this go down?

Marty (Lacker): No, I wasn't there but that's the way she was. She was pretty brassy and said what was on her mind, she felt she was around showbiz long enough to allow her to do that.

It doesn't surprise me that she was shown the door but I'm sure it was done in a nice way. The door that is. Elvis didn't care who you were if you confronted him that way, he would be nice to your face but he'd tell one of us to get rid of the person. Sometimes when someone did something like that in a challenging way he would tell them to mind their own business and get the hell out.

That's why it amuses us when some uninformed, unrealistic fan makes a negative comment about us or how we handled things, as in the case of Red and Sonny hitting that guy in Tahoe, you all don't really know everything that went on and what was done to protect Elvis and most time at his bidding.

"Elvis 57 - The Final Fifties Tours" Book Release.

(ISBN-13: 978-0595431229)

Alan Hanson's examination of Elvis' tours in the 1950s has been released by iUniverse

In 1957, Elvis Aron Presley was still a one man phenomenon with six titles on the charts, one movie to his credit, and two movies soon to follow. But while he pursued his dream of becoming a Hollywood actor, the military draft threatened to shatter it along with his wildly successful rock 'n' roll career. Elvis couldn't resist the excitement he found performing on stage before swarms of shrieking teenage girls, and in that final year before he entered the U.S. Army, he went back on the road for three short tours.

Elvis '57 recalls that magical year when the King played to audiences a quarter of a million people strong, and controversy and pandemonium accompanied him wherever he went. Alan Hanson takes us for a rollicking ride through eighteen major cities in the United States and Canada as he chronicles the most exciting tours of Elvis's career.

In Chicago, Elvis wore his famed gold lame suit and thirteen girls fainted in an effort to reach him. In Vancouver, British Columbia, thousands left their seats and rushed the stage, forcing him to abruptly end the show. Drawing on first-hand accounts from the disc jockeys on the front lines of Elvis's exploding career and fans who attended the '57 concerts, Hanson sweeps you back to the year that forever changed the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Available from Amazon.

Any person who uses a deceased personality’s name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness, in any manner, on or in products, merchandise, or goods, or for purposes of advertising or selling, or soliciting purchases of, products, merchandise, goods, or services, without prior consent from the person or persons specified in subdivision (c), shall be liable for any damages sustained by the person or persons injured as a result thereof.

In addition, in any action brought under this section, the person who violated the section shall be liable to the injured party or parties in an amount equal to the greater of seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) or the actual damages suffered by the injured party or parties, as a result of the unauthorized use, and any profits from the unauthorized use that are attributable to the use and are not taken into account in computing the actual damages.

In establishing these profits, the injured party or parties shall be required to present proof only of the gross revenue attributable to the use and the person who violated the section is required to prove his or her deductible expenses. Punitive damages may also be awarded to the injured party or parties. The prevailing party or parties in any action under this section shall also be entitled to attorneys’ fees and costs.

The bill also confirms that: “deceased personality” means any natural person whose name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness has commercial value at the time of his or her death, whether or not during the lifetime of that natural person the person used his or her name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness on or in products, merchandise or goods, or for purposes of advertising or selling, or solicitation of purchase of, products, merchandise, goods, or services. A “deceased personality” shall include, without limitation, any such natural person who has died within 70 years prior to January 1, 1985.

Recent court cases have proved that CKX and EPE are fiercely protective of their rights, but its unknown to us how the legislation may extend overseas. In the UK a famous high court battle in the ‘90s between Sid Shaw and Elvis Presley Enterprises was won by Shaw, when he claimed that ownership of Elvis belonged to the public.

The Peabody To Honor "The King" During Elvis Week 2007.

MEMPHIS, TN – The Peabody will celebrate more than just its 82nd birthday at its annual Anniversary Party this year. The "South's Grand Hotel" will pay tribute to the "King of Rock 'n Roll" by inducting Elvis Presley into the Duck Walk Hall of Fame. Priscilla Presley will be the guest of honor at the event, which will take place Thursday, August 16, 4:45 p.m. – 6 p.m. in The Peabody’s Grand Lobby.

Belz Enterprises Chairman & CEO Jack Belz will posthumously induct the Elvis Presley into the Duck Walk Hall of Fame. Priscilla Presley will accept on behalf of Elvis. The center portion of the Grand Lobby will be cordoned-off for a private, invitation-only party, but the perimeter of the Lobby and Mezzanine will be open to the public.

“The Peabody’s Duck Walk Hall of Fame honors those who have played a pivotal role in the development of Memphis. And what better icon of Memphis is there than Elvis Presley? In many ways, he put Memphis on the map,” says Douglas V. Browne, General Manager, The Peabody Memphis.

The Duck Walk Hall of Fame began in 1996 with the induction Belz family patriarch Phillip Belz. Among the other 13 present honorees since are Jack Belz, Henry Turley, Danny Thomas, Mayor Willie Herenton, Kevin Kane, and Bernard Lansky. The commemorative plaques feature duck footprints along with the name of the inductee.

The Hall of Fame runs along Union Avenue and Second Street in the sidewalk outside The Peabody. Elvis Presley’s plaque will be placed in the sidewalk on Union Avenue, near Lansky’s “Clothier to the King” gift shop, in the weeks after the August 16th ceremony.

(Photo: Tony King)

Exclusive to Walgreens stores in the U.S.A are these Elvis and Reese's Beanie Babies! They come in orange or brown and are selling for $5.99 each or 2 for $10.00

We showed our 2 daughters and while the 11 year old said "What have they got to do with Elvis?" Our 8 year old Amy said "I want a cuddly Elvis bear". So they seem to be a hit with the under 10's.

Elvis Theme resort in Las Vegas?

Rumours are spread that there are plans to build a complete new resort in Las Vegas, completely Elvis themed. It is a fact that a 38-acre property, just across the Mandalay Bay resort, is recently bought by FX Luxury...a company that is affiliated with Elvis-owner CFX.

Although the rumours are not confirmed, a spokesman for FX Luxury says: "Elvis was the embodiment of Las Vegas and, in all surveys, is the entertainer most associated with Las Vegas."

Elvis Fever In The Capital.

On the 30th Anniversary of Elvis’ Death, the Largest and Most Significant Elvis Collection Outside of Graceland Will be Presented.

Berlin, May 2007. For his fans, the motto is the same as it always was: “Elvis lives!”

And so, on the 30th anniversary of his death, August 16, 2007, Elvis fans worldwide will honour him with numerous events. In Berlin, the largest and most significant Elvis exhibit outside of Graceland will honour the life of Elvis Presley from August 13th through September 1st, along with discussions with numerous colleagues of his.

The exhibition will be held in the newly opened ELLINGTON HOTEL.

Largest Elvis Exhibition Presented Outside Of The USA For The First Time.

Click Here for the Exibition: http://www.thekingsransom.com/catalog.php

King Ransom Catalogue.pdf

“The King’s Ransom”, the largest and most significant Elvis collection outside of Graceland, has toured through the USA for many years. Now the exhibition is coming to Germany just in time for the 30th anniversay of Presley’s death: More than100 exhibits from “The King’s Ransom” will be displayed in the ELLINGTON HOTEL BERLIN from August 13th through September 1st.

This onetime exhibition of personal effects owned by Elvis is being presented outside of the USA for the first time and has an estimated value of approximately 5 million euros. Expensive stage outfits, sumptuous jewelry, flashy sun glasses, a red spread from Graceland, Elvis pajamas, his personal bible, his work identification from the “Precision Tool Company” and numerous awards conferred upon him by the police will make the hearts of Elvis fans beat faster. The famous honoary badge from the Bureau for Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs which Presley was awarded 1970in the Oval Office of the White House by US President Richard Nixon is also included among the exhibits. A large portion of the impressive memorabilia is rounded out by photoswhich show Elvis Presley with the respective objects.

Parallel to this, more than 80 large format photographs made by Presley’s concert photographer, Ed Bonja, will be displayed. His photographs adorned many of Elvis’ LP covers in the 1970s. The legendary superstar allowed Bonja to take snapshots and did not let any other photographer to get so close to him. During the Elvis exhibition, Ed Bonja will report on his collaboration with the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”.

Numerous Colleagues Are Expected

Numerous additional colleagues of Elvis Presley will attract a great deal of attention during the exhibition. Sonny West is expected, who worked as Elvis’ personal bodyguard for seven years, lived at Graceland and was a member of the “Memphis Mafia”. He will speak of an Elvis that perhaps only he could have gotten to know.

Rhythm guitarist John Wilkinson has also been announced. Together with the other members of the legendary TCB band (Taking Care of Business), he was “the backbone of my show”, as Elvis characterised his band. The “Sweet Inspirations” will also share their memories of the “King” and will be available for autographs. The singers appeared as Presley’s background choir from 1969 to 1977.

“Elvis – The Show” at the Estrel Berlin Provides an Homage to the “King”

On August 15th, parallel to the exhibition, “Elvis – The Show” will be presented at the Estrel Festival Center in Berlin. In the glamourous live show, produced by exhibition initiator and show producer Bernhard Kurz, Grahame Patrick embodies the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Elvis bodyguard Sonny West and the “Sweet Inspirations” call the native Irishman the “best Elvis impersonator in the world”. Grahame Patrick, who has already appeared as “Elvis” in Las Vegas for seven years, does not only look amazingly similar to his forebear, the young Elvis as well as the old Elvis. His voice also sounds so deceptively authentic, that it seems unbelievable that the real thing is not standing before you. The cult surrounding the “King” comes alive again when Grahame Patrick walks into the spotlights and gives his performance with irresistible charm and thrilling song and dance. And by this point, at the latest, everyone will be convinced themselves: “Elvis lives!”

 BeNeLux Releases Warner Bros DVD's.

Although the official (American) Warner Bros Elvis site mentions 16 different DVD releases for August,Warner Bros Europe plans to release 6 DVD's only - all of them brand new on the market: 'Charro' - 'Stay Away Joe' - 'Live A Little, Love A Little' - 'Jailhouse Rock' - 'Girl Happy' and 'This Is Elvis', a 2 DVD Special Edition.

Without any doubt, these discs are going to be very popular.

The 10 extra US DVD's have already been released before, so there's no real need for an extra release for those. On the other hand, those 10 US discs, also include the revamped movies "Viva Las Vegas" and "That's The Way It Is", with bonus footage. Of course we'll keep you posted should Warner Bros decide to put those out in Europe too.

"Elvis at 13" sculptor Michiel Van der Sommen has been working on another Elvis sculpture.

The idea for it came from Maureen my wife when Michiel was a guest in our home here in Swords, Ireland.

This is Michiel's  preliminary model of "Elvis at 3".

As you can see it is from the Iconic photo of Elvis taken with his parents, Gladys and Vernon, when he was just a toddler.

DVD "Elvis #1 Hit Performances" .

Later this year, Sony BMG will distribute a DVD release that could serve to introduce Elvis to new audiences of all ages, perhaps prompting their first Elvis purchase, and encourage some casual Elvis fans to get more serious.

In North America it will be Elvis #1 Hit Performances - a 15-song collection of videos of Elvis peforming some of his #1 US and UK hits. In the UK it will be Elvis #1 Hit Performances and More - the same content as the North American release and 15 additional performances of songs that were either #1 in the US or UK or are simply Elvis classics. This is sort of a DVD version of the concepts for the ELV1S 30 #1 Hits and ELVIS 2ND To None CDs of 2002 and 2003.

The content is doubled for the UK version primarily because music publishing clearances are standardized in the UK for DVD releases like they are for CDs. In the United States, music publishers can hold the songs they own or represent for ransom because DVD clearance rates are not standardized as they are for CDs.

Release dates to be announced. These are expected to come out sometime in the fourth quarter of 2007, timed nicely for holiday gift sales.

Below is an advance look at the first draft of the back-of-the-box text for both releases and the first draft of the liner notes describing the contents are in a separate article.

Toledo Sports Arena To Be Demolished.

Elephants stomped on the Toledo Sports Arena floor and Elvis Presley gyrated across its stage on November 22, 1956.

It was a giant bowling alley, a huge swimming pool, a big dirt pile, and a sweat box. Men and women shed blood in its boxing rings and on its ice, they graduated there, saw their first concerts, shopped for cars, and marveled at acrobats, clowns, and dancing bears.

With the process of dismantling the arena scheduled to start tomorrow, six decades of controversy and endless wrangling over where a new arena should be located in Lucas County will officially come to an end.

B&B Wrecking & Excavating Inc. of Cleveland will begin removing asbestos and other toxic materials from inside the Toledo Sports Arena tomorrow, according to Lucas County spokesman David Mann.

The county commissioners expect the abatement work to continue for the next three weeks. B&B will begin demolishing the arena once all hazardous materials are removed. Mr. Mann also said B&B will continue removing materials from the seven buildings that currently occupy on the site of the new downtown arena site, which straddles Superior Street between Madison and Jefferson avenues.

Mr. Mann said there is no fi nal timeline for those buildings to fall, but construction on the $85 million arena is scheduled to begin in October.

Radio Play.

Will Anyone Ever Be as Big as Elvis?: Every true life rock 'n' roll television melodrama has the same scene: the unknown artist/band gives their freshly cut 45rpm single to the local disc jockey. He spins it on his top 40 radio show... and a star is born. This legend has been passed down through the generations of wannabe popstars like an ancient family recipe. The ingredients may differ, but in the end you get the same glorious results: radio play equals fame and fortune.

But does this Top of the Charts fairytale still apply in the sardonic post new millennium world we call "today"? Can a band in our current music scene walk into a radio station with a CD single in their hot little hands, impress and wow the DJ with their enthusiasm and chutzpa, obtain the magic and golden FM radio spins and then ride the wave of success all the way to Graceland? Well, then, I guess the real question would be, "Do you believe in fairytales?"

Unfortunately, the music industry, like the entire Earth, has become so overpopulated and so oversaturated with artists, music, CDs, and radio stations/shows of all kinds, that the chance of your own personal radio fairytale coming true is probably slim to none. But, don't give up on your favorite audio media outlet. Radio may not catapult you to instant superstardom but it certainly can help to push you down the path to success.

In the fourth part of our "Making Of" documentary we give you an inside view on the production steps at the printing company "Dassel Druck" in Arnsberg / Germany.

At this point the printing plates - which were produced last week in the 3rd part of the making of - were used in combination with the 4 basic colours to produce the sheets for the book.

The printing process is an extensive and difficult work because all 4 printing plates have to be adjusted precisely because otherwise you will get only blurry pictures because of a faulty grid pattern.

Soon you will find on this website the 5th and final part of the Making Of Documentary.

As always, the book will be available through the official website www.praytome-publishing.com

Imperials Surprised Movie Park Germany.

Last weekend was a special one for the amusement park "Movie Park Germany".

With the 30th anniversary coming up, the management decided to make it an Elvis weekend. Unfortunately, we didn't see too much 'Elvis', even the music was still the same as all the other weekends.

Nevertheless, the visitors were in for a surprise, when the Imperials were announced for a mini concert.

The setting was very unusual: the Imperials on a stage in the middle of an amusement park - but they showed again how capturing their harmony still is, and how they sound better and better.

Passers-by stopped, listened, grabbed a chair and waited until the mini-concert was over. The Imperials did two songs: "This Train" and "O Happy Day".

More Imperials at the Fan Club Tour in September and October!

Elvis is dead. But the effort to maintain a Web site bearing his name is still very much alive. The British version of the Elvis-dot-com site is up for sale.

Marie Osmond Honors "The King" With Baby Elvis Doll.

In commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of his untimely passing, Marie Osmond pays tribute to the "King," with a very special doll, Baby Elvis. Having personally known Elvis when she was a young woman, Marie was greatly influenced by both Elvis and his music, and Elvis himself was particularly fond of Marie's mother, Olive Osmond.

“This doll holds special meaning for me because I was fortunate enough to meet Elvis, as his and my family’s entertainment paths crossed on occasion. Just like so many of you, I was completely smitten by Elvis’s charm, talent and his swiveling hips!”

The first in Marie's Little Bit Country, Little Bit Rock & Roll doll series, Baby Elvis wears the iconic American Eagle Jumpsuit from Elvis's 1973 Aloha from Hawaii satellite TV concert special, which is widely regarded as the pinnacle of his superstardom. The first worldwide television broadcast of its kind, Elvis's Aloha from Hawaii special was seen by 1.5 billion viewers from around the globe, and earned more American viewers than the first moonwalk.

Knowing that he would be seen by so many television viewers worldwide, Elvis personally commissioned the customized white jumpsuit, a deliberate symbol of patriotism with its prominent eagle embellished with red, blue and gold. Marie selected this outfit for Baby Elvis, because it was one of the few costumes for which Elvis involved himself in the design concept.

Baby Elvis will also be the first-ever boy doll in the company's 16-year history to be featured on the cover of the Marie Osmond Doll Catalog. Baby Elvis is limited to an edition of 5,000 and retails for $149.95.

Elvis Presley Incognito: The King of Rock N Roll.

motionPic.ppt

Loyal Elvis fans, Rock and Roll Fans, Moms and kids, even those aside have a found connection with him and will be lining up the block for this release. Not only for the musical entertainment but for the unveiling of the truth about one of the World's most known Icons.

We would like to present a project to you. We are pleased to announce just secured the rights and acquired the story of Elvis Presley as written in the memoirs of his stepmother Dee Presley.

Married to Vernon, Elvis’ father, for 17 years, she has a unique point of view never told before surrounding the events of Elvis’ life. From life on tour with Elvis and her three sons who were apart of the group of Elvis’ closest comrades publicly noted as, “The Memphis Mafia”, his marriage to Priscilla, the birth of his daughter Lisa Marie and finally to Elvis? tragic death.

Dee witnessed an entire side of Elvis that has never before been introduced to the general public. Even today, the upstairs portion of Graceland is not open for tour. The truth of Elvis Presley's personal life is still protected from his most faithful fans. This will be the most intimate story released about Elvis Presley written in the memoirs of a mother, the struggles she encountered, the grief experienced, and the criticism she faced for an unjust reputation.

This is the intimate story of the life of Dee Presley and her experience as a step-mother to Elvis Presley, Along with her three sons, in 1969 she moved to what then well-known, and today is burned into music history as Graceland – Her name was soon to become an echo for the family combination and life that followed - from the start of the marriage to Vernon, to the “new life” and spotlight.

The feature documentary will delve into the various major milestones of Elvis’ life – from the tours, to Priscilla, to the birth of Lisa Marie, to Dee’s famous separation from Vernon. But, there is more to this story as a dramatic explosion occurs…. Dee unfolds her boundaries in tell-all recollections of Elvis’ declining morals, extracurricular activities, secret relations, and “out-of-control” behavior.

The Story soars to the heights of the most unmatched Rock N roll Star of the 20th Century, and down into the vast dark side of Elvis, the pursuit of the pathway to death, and his damaging alter-ego to both himself and those around him.

'Girls! Girls! Girls!' to get together for Elvis.

(Elvis Presley with Suzanna Leigh in "Paradise, Hawaiian Style." Leigh has organized an Elvis co-star reunion)

Story Highlights:

"Reunion" of Elvis Presley co-stars to take place in mid-August

"Paradise, Hawaiian Style" actress Suzanna Leigh organized it

Presley made 31 films, most quickie productions

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (AP) -- His movies weren't exactly works of art, but for the fans there was something magical about Elvis Presley on the big screen, dancing and flirting with one starlet after another.

Presley has been dead nearly 30 years, but many of his on-screen girlfriends are still around -- and they're still ready for their close-ups.

Suzanna Leigh, who played Presley's love interest in "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" in 1966, has organized an event next month to offer Elvis fans a rare chance to rub shoulders with up to two dozen of his movie-set buddies.

"It's sort of an Elvis reunion," Leigh said. "I'm bringing in a lot of co-stars, directors, people who worked with Elvis."

The three-day bash -- with tickets ranging from $75 to $150 -- is scheduled to begin August 16, the anniversary of Presley's death in 1977 at his Memphis residence, Graceland. It will be one of more than 30 Elvis Week events in Memphis from August 11-18.

Annual festivities for Elvis Week, the highlight of the year for the Presley faithful, include concerts, fan-club get-togethers, teary eyed memorials, and, of course, screenings of his movies.

And this year, many of his former on-screen playmates will be in town for a gala, billed as "Night of a Thousand Stars," that will include a garden party, storytelling sessions, panel discussions, autograph-signing and a "glittering finale."

"It will be magical on the last night," said Leigh, a British actress who starred in several B-grade vampire-and-horror flicks after her role with Elvis.

Presley made 31 feature films, in most of them playing -- what else? -- a good-looking, ultra-cool chick magnet. The films can hardly be confused with Academy Award contenders, but the Elvis faithful can't get enough of them.

"The usual question they'll ask me is what was it like to kiss Elvis," said Leigh, setting up an obviously well-used line. "They'll ask was he good, and I often say, 'I think he had some practice.' "

For many of Presley's co-stars, his films were career highlights. Leigh's autobiography, billed as a behind-the-scenes look into London's "swinging sixties in-crowd," plays on her Elvis connection in its title, "Paradise, Suzanna Style."

"I tell stories about his sense of humor and how much fun we had on the set and how difficult the Colonel was," Leigh said, referring to Presley's longtime manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker.

In 1958, actress Jan Shepard played Mimi Fisher, the sister of Presley's leading character in "King Creole," his most critically acclaimed movie.

"You knew if you got in that movie, it was going to be seen all over the world," said Shepard, who is also scheduled to take part in the Memphis event.

Though she described Presley as a brilliant actor, Shepard agreed with critics who say most of his movies were nothing to brag about.

"You know what those movies were done for? To sell records," she said from her home in Hollywood. "Every movie had an album."

Shepard, whose non-Elvis movies included the "Attack of the Giant Leeches," spent most of her career in television, with parts in numerous Westerns like "Gunsmoke" and "The Virginian."

Presley was held back from developing his acting talent to make quick-profit, formula movies, Shepard said, and his fans should hear from those who worked with him that he could have been a serious actor.

"He was like part of their lives," she said. "It's 30 years since he's been gone, and I just think this (gathering of co-stars) is for the people."

Other Elvis-movie cohorts expected for the Memphis event include Pat Priest ("Easy Come, Easy Go"), Sue Ane Langdon ("Roustabout," "Frankie and Johnny"), Gloria Pall and Jennifer Holden ("Jailhouse Rock"), Gail Gilmore ("Girl Happy" "Harum Scarum") and Celeste Yarnall ("Live a Little, Love a Little").

Some of Presley's better-known co-stars, like true-life love interest Ann-Margret, Nancy Sinatra and Mary Tyler Moore aren't scheduled to attend.

Original Sun Tape Recorder For Sale.

For sale on eBay is the Sun Ampex Mono tape Machine, used by Sam Philips. The seller is one of Johnny Cash’s producers.

This is from the description: “As Johnny Cash’s producer, “The Great Lost Performance” I had the pleasure of meeting Sam Phillips of the famed Sun Records Studio, where Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis along with many others got their start.

A few months before Sam Phillips passed away, I purchased the original tape machine used at Sun Records for a price close to what I am asking. Of course Sam had to be paid in cash. That was Sam. Anyway, up for bid is the Ampex Mono tape machine used by Sam Phillips , Sam told me it was a 1948 Ampex. Which I purchased from his home.

The tape machine is still in good working condition and sounds great! I will provide a letter of origin with the tape machine. Johnny Cash helped me with putting the deal together and the deal was witnessed by a well known artist manager.”

Asking price is 60.000 $US.

Elvis License Plate Finds Donor.

It was hard going but there will be an Elvis license plate issued in Tennessee. There is much food for thought in this story according to the Commercial Appeal newspaper.

Some fans wanting a state-issued Elvis Presley license plate are getting a free ride thanks to a New Jersey Elvis fan who covered their $35 fee for the car tag. The state requires 1,000 people to pre-order and pay the fees for new specialty license plates before it begins production. If a plate fails to garner the needed pre-order amount by a certain date, it will not be produced.

The Elvis plate, which benefits the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, was about 100 buyers shy of meeting the benchmark, even after receiving an extension on its deadline.

The New Jersey fan anonymously donated the $3,500 needed to cover the final 100 pre-ordered plates, after hearing about the license plate's troubles on Sirius satellite radio's Elvis program hosted by longtime Presley friend George Klein.

Tammy Ritchey, executive director of the hospital's foundation, The Med Foundation, said the donor wanted no recognition, but wanted to express her love of Presley through the kind of charitable donation he was known for in his lifetime. Of the $35 specialty fee, The Med receives roughly $20 in revenue for each plate sold.

Tennessee has about 130 specialty plates, with different groups receiving proceeds. The most popular salutes the Tennessee Titans football team, but there are others for Korean War veterans, the Smokies and the Tennessee Walking Horse.

Elvis Inspired Song In Webber/Rice Musical.

The opening of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre last night (17 July 2007) marked more than the West End leading man debut of Any Dream Will Do victor Lee Mead - it will also see the world premiere of a new song by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Written especially for this production, “King of My Heart” takes its inspiration from Elvis Presley’ greatest hits, incorporating various Elvis song titles into the lyrics. It’s sung in Act Two by the pseudo Elvis character, the be-quiffed and hip-gyrating Pharaoh (played by Dean Collinson), immediately following the existing “Pharaoh’s Song”.

Lloyd Webber and Rice’s last major collaboration was on the premiere of Evita in 1976. “King of My Heart” is expected to feature on a new Joseph cast recording released later this year.

Further scheduling details for Joseph have also been confirmed. From 25 July 2007, the role of the Narrator will be played at Wednesday matinees by Fiona Reyes, rather than Bombay Dreams’s Preeya Kalidas who appears in all other weekly performances.

And in the title role, Lee Mead will be on holiday for the weeks commencing 14 and 21 January, 10 March and 5 May 2008, when the role is likely to be played by his understudy, James Bisp.

With an estimated box office advance in excess of Ł10 million – fuelled by the popularity of the two-month BBC One reality TV casting programme Any Dream Will Do, via which the public voted 25-year-old Lee Mead into the title part - the booking period for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has already been extended through to June 2008.

The musical, based on the Biblical tale of Joseph and his 11 jealous brothers, started life in 1968 as a 20-minute entertainment for an end-of-term school concert. The popular score includes the songs "Any Dream Will Do", "Close Every Door to Me", “Go, Go, Go Joseph”, “Those Canaan Days”, “Benjamin Calypso” and "One More Angel in Heaven".

This new staging of the record-breaking 1990s production at the London Palladium, which was directed by the late Steven Pimlott, is designed by Mark Thompson and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.

Elvis Presley In Dublin Ireland.

Yours truly inquired why the huge Elvis image was erected to advertise the The Point Village.

This was a the response I received from the 'Developer'?

"Subject: RE: The Point Village

Dear Maurice Colgan,

Thank you for your comments on our Elvis billboard. I am a lifelong fan.

I was very ill in hospital some time ago and Elvis appeared to me in a dream and he told me I would get better.
He was speaking from a large billboard and my sign is to thank him and commemorate the event so that he may help others.

Harry Crosbie"

The 50 foot image of Elvis is close to The Point Depot, a music venue. In the fast developing Dublin dockland close to where the U2 Tower is to be built. Everyone knows Bono is a huge Elvis fan...... he can hardly refrain from breaking into an imitation of Elvis's Southern drawl whenever he can.

The Elvis billboard comes at a very opportune time considering the upcoming 30th Anniversary of his death, on the 16th August 2007. It seems the whole wide world will be commemorating the event.

All the best from Ireland, Maurice -

The New Frontier Has Closed.

Without ceremony, the Frontier quietly closed its doors on Monday July 16, at 12.01am.

The resort was recently sold to the real estate investment group El Ad properties for $1.2billion.

The Old Frontier was only the 2nd hotel to be built on the Las Vegas Strip when it opened in 1942. It was renamed the New Frontier and re-modelled in 1955 with a space-age theme to reflect the atomic era with the nations optimism in exploring space in the 1950s, and Elvis made his debut appearance in the aptly titled Venus Room the following year.

The hotel has undergone several refurbishments and changes of ownership over its 65 year history and was renamed the Frontier when the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes bought the property in 1967, which he observed from his Desert Inn hideaway on the opposite side of the Strip.

The Man Who Owns Elvis.

Elvis Presley was the king — rock's first icon. A hip-swiveling heartthrob with more hit records than anyone in history. Thirty years after his death, Elvis is still idolized. So what is that name worth now?

To Bob Sillerman, who bought the king's name and likeness, it was worth $114 million. That's what his company, CKX, paid for Elvis Presley enterprises two years ago. Elvis' music was not part of the deal. he sold most of his hits back to his label before his death. but the family sold 85 percent of everything else and his ex-wife Priscilla Presley says it wasn't an easy decision.

"Absolutely. I mean I'm not gonna lie. It's pretty frightening when, you know, you've been a private company for all these years," she told Sunday Morning correspondent Anthony Mason. "You know and you're the boss."

But Priscilla, the mother of his only child, Lisa Marie, says the family business needed an investor to expand. And Sillerman was just the man to do it.

"He just got it," she said. "You know there is no other company like his company."

His company also owns the "American Idol' franchise, which Sillerman bought for $175 million. Then last year he added "the greatest of all time" to his roster of icons, buying rights to Muhammad Ali's name for another $50 million. A Bronx born billionaire, Sillerman made his fortune in radio and the concert promotion business. Now he sees Elvis as an under developed asset. On his corporate jet, Mason flew with him to Memphis to tour Graceland, the 13 acre estate where Elvis lived with Priscilla and Lisa Marie. Sillerman said he doesn't feel like he owns Graceland

"It's still their home," he said. "I don't think you can own something that's as big as Elvis Presley. I think I feel a sense of stewardship. But not ownership."

Each year, 600,000 people file through Graceland. Sillerman believes he can double that number

"So many people want to come to Graceland because they want to celebrate his life," Sillerman said. "You know 40 percent of our visitors are unaccompanied kids under the age of 35. It tells you that it does get passed down."

He wants to move the visitor center which sits on the other side of Elvis Presley boulevard and put it next to Graceland. The heartbreak hotel will be torn down to make way for two bigger hotels. In the entire complex that takes up 25 acres will grow to more than 100 acres. At the same time Sillerman is working with Cirque du Soleil to create a permanent Elvis show for Las Vegas and traveling shows that could tour the world.

"China is so big it could probably support a touring show forever," Sillerman said. "We're all thrilled about it. We think it's a whole other take on Elvis," Priscilla Presley said. "I think he would absolutely love it."

"If the Cirque du Soleil numbers hold true for Elvis, as they have for every one of their other shows, we're in a position to be making 100 million dollars a year in a few years," Sillerman said. "You know, that's a no-brainer."

Starting with a single small town radio station. Now Sillerman's the man who bought "American Idol," Ali and Elvis.

"Look at what Bobby Sillerman from the Bronx has — God Bless America," Sillerman said.

Elvis In Concert - 30 Years Anniversary DVD Edition.

The legendary TV Special filmed on Elvis Presley’s last concert tour will now be released on a Import  dvd. This new remastered edition is the best dvd version that has surfaced so far.

“We’re here to entertain you, and to make you happy. So just enjoy yourself, and leave the driving to us” said Elvis to an adoring crowd on his last tour. Elvis had been doing just that for over 20 years - entertaining his fans and making them happy.

Two shows were filmed by CBS on what was to be Elvis’ last concert tour. The June 19 appearance in Omaha, Nebraska and the June 21 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Only three songs were used from the Omaha performance in the final special, which was broadcast on October 3, 1977.

“If you haven’t guessed by now, you’re on television” Elvis said with a characteristic grin to the audience at the June 21 show. “Don't let the lights and cameras throw you, and try not to throw the lights and cameras if you can help it.”

Elvis In Concert was Elvis’ first filmed production in four years after the blockbuster Aloha From Hawaii television special. The contrast in his appearance between the two shows is striking. He was obviously way overweight, said Elvis’ friend Joe Esposito, a few years after Elvis’ death.

Although he did look ill during the filming was the magic still there. Elvis was also still singing great! Just hear Elvis singing thru touching and powerful performances of songs like How Great Thou Art and his latest RCA single Hurt.

Elvis Part Of New Nevada Tourism Ads.

The Nevada Commission on Tourism will launch new national ads this summer that feature Las Vegas entertainment icons "Elvis" and the Blue Man Group enjoying outdoor recreation at Lake Tahoe. The ads will run in midsummer and fall, as the mountain paradise recovers from economic impacts of a devastating wildfire, Lt. Gov. Brian K. Krolicki announced Wednesday.

The ads, to run on television and in travel magazines, are the latest in the tourism agency's award-winning "icon" series that portrays Las Vegas show-business figures enjoying popular recreational activities in other parts of the state and reveal Nevada's two different worlds -- neon and nature.

They are viewable and downloadable at:  http://travelnevada.com/content.aspx?ID=264

"Show-business icons pictured unexpectedly in natural settings catch people by surprise and deliver the message that Nevada offers a lot more besides dazzling entertainment," Krolicki, tourism commission chair, said. "Coincidentally, the ads already were scheduled to run before last month's fire and now will serve to remind potential visitors across the country of Lake Tahoe's majestic beauty and outdoor adventure opportunities."

The wildfire, which burned in late June seven miles from Nevada's bustling resort and casino district on Lake Tahoe's South Shore, destroyed more than 250 homes in a forested California residential area. The cobalt-blue lake straddles the Nevada-California state line and both states' tourism-based economies are intertwined.

"We are thankful that we had selected Lake Tahoe as the focus of these ads," tourism department Director Tim Maland said. "Our goal is to draw more visitors and help the lake area to fully recover from the fire through the summer and fall. It's a four-season destination that moves from hiking, biking, boating and water sports, to skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and winter sports."

The Elvis commercial, which features red-caped Elvis characters mountain biking on Lake Tahoe's spectacular Flume Trail, will begin airing next month on national cable television including the Travel Channel, Discovery, Discovery Science and Fox News.

The Blue Man Group is shown paddling a kayak towing a raft on the blue alpine lake in a print ad that will appear in National Geographic Adventure, Sunset, Travel and Leisure and Budget Travel magazines in September and in Outside, Sunset and National Geographic Traveler magazines in October.

Other ads in the national award-winning icon series show tuxedoed Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton fly-fishing, dazzling feather-costumed showgirls skiing and playing golf and Elvis impersonators bicycling in a lush mountain canyon. DRGM Advertising of Reno designed the ads.

The icon ad series, which recently won 36 awards from the American Advertising Federation and American Marketing Association, also is featured in the tourism agency's Internet marketing efforts including e-mail campaigns and banner advertising.

New Book Marks 30th Anniversary of Elvis’ Death with Rare View of Entertainer’s First Love: Gospel Music.

Elvis’ Back-Up Singer and Long-Time Friend Reveals Never-Before-Seen Details, Stories of Life with Elvis.

Biographical Account Fully Supported by Elvis Presley Enterprises - Foreword by Priscilla Presley

“When he left the building, most nights, Elvis wanted nothing more than to go somewhere with a few friends and a piano, a place they could gather to sing and listen to the gospel music that nourished the heart and soul of this American musical and cultural icon.” --Joe Moscheo, from the introduction

NASHVILLE, TENN—“Adored by millions, but known only to a few,” writes Elvis friend and Imperials member Joe Moscheo in his new book The Gospel Side of Elvis (Center Street, August 2007) on the true Elvis Presley. First meeting Elvis backstage at a gospel concert at which he was playing with his group The Harmoneers, Moscheo was stunned to find the star was acquainted with his work. Later, with the group The Imperials, Moscheo became part of Elvis’ vocal back-up band for a time and remained a friend until the artist’s death. Sharing a rarely known side of Elvis glimpsed only by close friends, Moscheo highlights the icon’s near-addiction to gospel and how it influenced his music as well as his life. Breaking his silence now, after thirty years, Moscheo shares the story of the Elvis he knew because, as he writes, “ …you can’t love the man as he really was until you’ve seen the gospel side of Elvis.”

Of the over 1,000 books written about Elvis, none explore in depth the legend’s inspiration from, and devotion to, gospel music. In The Gospel Side of Elvis, Moscheo reveals intimate, never-before-published details of Elvis’ life—including a host of documents and photos—allowing readers to experience the artist from inside the inner realm of friends with whom Elvis encircled himself. Rather than repeat well-known stories or dwell on Elvis’ failings, Moscheo instead focuses on the singer’s positive traits including intimate moments and occurrences known only to a few which makes this book a must-have for fans. Moscheo’s view of Elvis begins, and ends, with the influence of gospel on the King and his transference of the medium to millions of fans worldwide—a number which grows every year even though the artist himself is gone.

Elvis’ life-long desire to be a gospel singer prompted him to audition for a spot with gospel group The Songfellows in 1954. Destiny intervened, propelled by his first recording at Sun Records, which instead launched his solo career. Despite Elvis’ global success through his signature-style of rock music which today, 30 years after his death, surpasses most other recording acts in earnings, the star never forgot the gospel music which inspired him, and gospel never forgot him. He was inducted posthumously into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

Throughout his life, Elvis stayed faithful to the gospel music he loved, even to the irritation of tv studios, movie producers, and record executives. Defying the all-powerful Ed Sullivan, Elvis performed “Peace in the Valley” instead of a non-gospel number during his last appearance. During rehearsals for “Jailhouse Rock,” Elvis would spend time by gathering the Jordainaires and signing gospel songs that were certainly not in the script—and walked out when studio executives tried to refocus him. RCA records at times urged Elvis to record something more mainstream but the entertainer insisted on recording the gospel music he loved.

Describing Elvis’ affection for gospel as an “addiction,” Moscheo says the fondness also directly affected all the other band members who, he says, “discovered that performing for two audiences per night—starting at eight o’clock and midnight—was only one part of our job description.” “ ‘We did two shows a night for five weeks,’ Elvis once recalled in an interview,” writes the author. ‘Lots of times, we’d go upstairs and sing until daylight—gospel songs…’ Indeed, most nights, at some point, Elvis would make it a point to ask us if we were coming to his suite after the midnight show.” Moscheo and Elvis’ other chosen few never turned down the King’s requests, knowing how much comfort their friend derived from the sessions.

Moscheo details Elvis’ deep faith and personal convictions in the book, including two spiritual experiences which profoundly affected the star. First, upon hearing of a band member’s cancer, Elvis stopped everything and summoned everyone to pray for her. Amazingly, the next day the doctors could find no sign of the malignancy. Second, Elvis’ favorite minister, Rex Humbard, visited the performer during a performance in Alabama in 1975 and prayed with Elvis which elicited a ground-shaking response from the singer, outwardly transforming him—if only for a short time.

Of discerning Elvis’ true beliefs, Moscheo writes, “Of all the records by Elvis Presley, the only three Grammy awards he ever won were for gospel music. He recorded more gospel and inspirational songs than any pop performer before or since. Could these details possibly be due to mere coincidence, or is there a deeper reason, one that tells us something about the deepest motivations and interests of the man beneath the legend?”

Moscheo contends that Elvis the performer was just one facet of Elvis the man, and the man he knew—failings and all—was an admired and trusted friend. Through his words, Moscheo writes that he hopes readers “may come to see, as I did, that there was more than one side to this man who was adored by millions but known by only a few…Let me try and reveal to you the gospel side of Elvis.”

Jerry Schilling's "Me And A Guy Named Elvis" Now In Paperback.

ME AND A GUY NAMED ELVIS - My Lifelong Friendship with Elvis Presley.

By Jerry Schilling - with Chuck Crisafulli.

NOW IN PAPERBACK.

“This moving and elegantly told memoir resonates with the spirit of true friendship.”
—The Washington Post

“Schilling has the goods—where else can you read about the King giving karate lessons to Liza Minelli in a hotel room while Chubby Checker and porn star Linda Lovelace look on?”
–Entertainment Weekly

“I love Elvis, and I really loved reading Jerry’s book about my friend, Elvis!” —Muhammad Ali

“Jerry Schilling’s words brought tears to my eyes, making me smile and nod as it filled my head with things I had forgotten but thankfully he remembered. Jerry tells his story with the freshness and purity of a man who truly loved his friend. Me and a Guy Named Elvis is not only authentic, honest, and truly moving—it is a marvel.”—Priscilla Presley

“Jerry Schilling has captured the beauty of my father’s spirit in a way that has never been done before. I will admit that I was nervous to read another book on this subject, especially by a friend (there are not many who remain in my life from this time period, as Jerry does), but this book is by far my favorite. It is a captivating, well-written, and un-crucifying account of many historic moments that shows the real birth and evolution of Rock and Roll and how it bridged the racial divide.”—Lisa Marie Presley

“Jerry had the keys to the kingdom, the keys to the King’s houses, to the King’s cars, to the heart of what made Elvis a King in the first place. Here he unlocks every door and his own heart to boot. In this book, Jerry Schilling brings grace to Graceland.”—Bono

Jerry Schilling will be part of the huge 30th Anniversary events of Elvis Week 2007 in Memphis and at Graceland. For more information, visit www.elvisweek.com

Footballer Turned Actor Renews Vows "Elvis" Style.

WELSH hardman Vinnie Jones showed his lovey dovey side by renewing his wedding vows in an Elvis themed ceremony.
The ex-footballer-turned-actor jetted to Las Vegas to repeat his ‘I do’s’ to his wife of thirteen years, Tanya Jones.

But it was in stark contrast to the glamorous weddings of footballers as they repeated their vows in a cheesy downtown chapel. Vinnie, 42, ditched his tough guy look to don a bright purple Elvis Presley-style suit, white socks, and a pair of dark sunglasses.

And he ensured he and his wife (right) arrived in true ‘King’ comfort by renting a white convertible Cadillac with Elvis number plates and emblazoned with the phrase, ‘A tribute to Elvis.’

Story continues........

The couple repeated their vows in the Little White Chapel where other celebrities, including Britney Spears and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, have tied the knot. Joined by 10 of their friends, but surprisingly minus his best buddy Jason Statham, the pair renewed their wedding in a 30-minute ceremony performed by an Elvis impersonator.

And when they stepped outside the chapel Vinnie showed his soft side as he hugged and kissed Tanya – who was dressed in a flowery tight corset style dress. They then jumped into a white stretch limousine, waved to their guests and took off to celebrate.

“Vinnie Jones renewed his vows here last week,” confirmed one chapel employee. “He got into the spirit of things with his suit and transport. We usually see him playing a thug in the movies but he was sweet during the ceremony and kept grabbing his wife’s hand and kissing her.

“It was a short blessing but at least he did it in the chapel. Some people just do the drive thru. They both seemed happy to be here and were extremely polite to everyone.”

Lucky enough, this story is pure fiction at this moment, like it was shown on the documentary 'It Could Happen Tomorrow'.

This serie is produced by the American 'Weather Channel' and investigates a number of real threats from nature disasters in the USA. Experts are simulating the disaster as it could happen tomorrow and looks in to the consequences.

Saddly enough, not all is pure fiction but constructed with scientific evidence. The scenario as described above is most likely to happen in Memphis within the next 50 years.

British Film Institute Present An Elvis Special.

To mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death, the British Film Institute celebrate Elvis in the movies with a special evening and film presentation in London.

Details:

August 16th

18:20 - The King on Screen: Elvis in the Movies

In his stellar 22-year career, Elvis Presley was regarded as the King of Rock 'n' Roll, and the most popular singer the world had ever seen. But now, 30 years after his death, it is easy to forget how important to that career his 30-plus movies were.

In this commemorative talk, liberally illustrated with clips from the King's best flicks, Adrian Wootton (Elvis aficionado and adviser to Turner Classic Movies on their current Elvis film season) will recount the history of Elvis's extensive career on the silver screen.

20:15 - Jailhouse Rock

Elvis is mean and moody in this rags-to-riches story of an ex-con turned pop star. Made at the height of his 50s fame, Jailhouse Rock was am attempt by MGM to assimilate Presley's rock 'n' roll persona into the more conventional trappings of a Hollywood musical.

It has a great soundtrack, featuring some classic Leiber and Stoller songs; the title track provides one of the most famous set pieces in rock 'n' roll film history.

Joint ticket available for Ł12.50, conc Ł9.25 (Members pay Ł1 less) For NFT tickets, book online at www.bfi.org.uk/nft or call the Box Office 020 7928 3232 (lines open 11.30am - 8.30pm).

AMAZING GRACELAND.

It was 30 years ago Aug. 16 that Elvis Presley was found dead at Graceland, his Memphis home. But in those 30 years, the King has remained as big as ever, having reached the status of American icon.

Many people under 40 have no idea that Elvis was on rock 'n' roll's cutting edge in the 1950s. For much of the 1960s until his death, he was upstaged by the Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones.

While other groups were providing the soundtrack to student activism, Elvis was churning out forgettable movies such as "Spinout" and "Harum Scarum."

But he still had a core following that never wavered and has attracted new fans as well.

It perhaps is noteworthy that two products from those very same 1960s, The Who and Neil Young, have both written and recorded Elvis tribute songs.

Bono, U2's lead singer, made a pilgrimage to Graceland, and "Viva Las Vegas" has become an anthem to the adult playground where veteran stars like Elton John, Chicago and Dr. John perform regularly.

Some say it was his premature death at age 42 in 1977 that turned him into a legend, but more likely the legend grew from his magnetism and the way he could sell a song with style and swagger.

Whether it be the rawness of "Jailhouse Rock," the passion of "Burning Love" or the, well, tenderness of "Love Me Tender," Presley's music portfolio is today as classic as that of other American music royalty such as Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland.

That enduring appeal might explain the 600,000 to 700,000 people who visit Graceland every year, as well as explain that the Graceland experience has expanded well beyond Elvis's mansion tour into a full-day experience filled with supplementary galleries and museums.

The number of visitors spikes during Elvis Week, held each year during the week surrounding the date he died. This year's dates are Aug. 11-19.

All nationalities and all ages - Americans and Europeans, blue hairs and long hairs - come here. And they still leave graffiti on the brick walls guarding the mansion as they have since the 1950s.

Elvis stories have become folklore. He shot a color TV as adult contemporary singer Robert Goulet was performing on the screen. Why? Was it at the peak of one of Elvis' notorious mood swings?

"Nobody really knows," says Graceland spokesman Kevin Kern. "When our archives department put the TV on display for the first time and secured the glass for exhibiting, they actually found the bullet inside the TV."

Today the fractured television is displayed in the "Elvis After Dark" exhibit, which opened in March 2006 across the street from the mansion.

Elvis said early in his career: "The world is more alive at night. It's like God ain't lookin'."

Says Kern: "Elvis was a night owl. He recorded many of his hit songs during late-night recording sessions, and some of his most memorable performances were late at night in Vegas."

He also hung around with friends at night, hosting parties or partaking in G-rated fun such as playing games of Monopoly.

His personal game board illustrated with Marvin Gardens and Park Place is on view in "Elvis After Dark."
So is a blowup of a black and white news photo of a 1970s Presley, donning a red leather jacket and offering assistance at the scene of an auto accident in the wee hours of a Memphis morning. The jacket is displayed in front of the photo.

As much as Elvis loved the night, he also savored anything with a motor and wheels.

The Elvis Presley Automobile Museum preserves his cars in automotive landscapes.

His famous 1955 pink Cadillac is parked in front of a tableau of Graceland in winter. The last car he would drive, a black 1973 Stutz Blackhawk, sits under a forest of lights reflecting on the car's roof and hood with Christmas tree luminance.

The pink 1960 Willys jeep with a fringed candy-striped roof was used by Elvis' security staff, a fact that drew laughs from my teenage daughters who pictured a burly security guard driving an overgrown Barbie car.

Visitors can plunk themselves in authentic 1957 Chevrolet seats to watch clips from some of Presley's 31 movies in a mockup of a period drive-in theater.

Presley's other favored means of transportation were his jets, the "Lisa Marie," named after his daughter, and the smaller "Hound Dog Two."

In a video presentation screened on the "Lisa Marie," one hears stories about airborne Elvis, including one occasion when he had his pilot stop in Colorado so little Lisa Marie could see snow for the first time.

The "Sincerely Elvis" introduces visitors to Presley's private side and is home to changing galleries.

But the entrée in this six-course Graceland feast is the mansion itself. A recorded audio tour replaced live human guides in the late 1990s, and the kitchen and Elvis' parents' bedroom were added to the tour around the same time.

The guides were dropped in part because of the volume of people, Kern says, but also because the audio tour better tells the story.

Mansion visitors seem to most remember offbeat chambers like the TV room and billiards room, both located on the home's basement level and reached via a mirror-covered staircase.

Over 350 yards of hot paisley fabric on the walls and ceilings, along with Tiffany lamps, decorate the billiards room.

The blue and yellow television room boasts three TV sets lined up side by side so Elvis could watch three football games simultaneously.

The famed jungle room is on the main level and is seen near the tour's conclusion. Elvis never referred to this den by that name. The media did, and the name stuck.

The ordinary den was transformed into the extraordinary jungle room in the 1970s when one day Elvis entered a Memphis store and within a half hour purchased every piece of furniture that reminded him of Hawaii.

That included: a sofa and chairs covered in faux fur; solid green carpeting for the floor, walls and ceiling; an easy chair with its arms carved in the shapes of wooden snakes; and an artificial waterfall that often flooded nearby rooms.

Graceland's outbuildings today have names like the Hall of Gold and the Trophy Room. They are filled with miles and miles of gold records; furniture from Graceland and his Los Angeles homes (including baby Lisa Marie's crib and dresser); books on subjects from philosophy to sports; and the costumes and jewelry he wore on stage.

In one case, side by side, are a Hebrew chai and a Christian cross. Elvis wore both. "Why miss heaven on a technicality?" Elvis was known to ask with a smile.

The exit is through Meditation Gardens, the resting places for Elvis, his parents, his grandmother and his twin brother, Jesse, who died at birth.

It's a fairly small part of the Graceland picture. But it's the place where thousands of visitors pay their respects and leave bouquets and banners.

Kern notes that Graceland's draw reaches far beyond Presley die-hards.

"Elvis was a pop icon and his home is now a national historic landmark. And his home is a time capsule for the era he lived in," he says. "You don't have to be an Elvis fan to enjoy it. You canenjoy it if you're interested in '60s and '70s pop culture, or if you're a car aficionado."

Harry M. Fain, 88; Family Law Attorney Pushed For No-Fault Divorce In State.

Harry M. Fain, a pioneering family law attorney who helped bring no-fault divorce to California in 1970 and handled the high-powered breakups of such celebrity marriages as Elvis Presley, Cary Grant and Ali McGraw, died Friday of pneumonia at a skilled nursing facility in Los Angeles. He was 88.

"For many years he was the dean of family law lawyers in Los Angeles, a hugely respected lawyer, with great legal talent and ethics above reproach," said Don Mike Anthony, president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Southern California Chapter.

In a field of law where cases can be fraught with anger and emotion, revenge-seeking and the potential for irrevocable harm when children are involved, Fain worked on several key fronts to change the laws and lessen the pain.

In 1966, as the divorce rate in the nation soared, then-Gov. Pat Brown appointed Fain to the Governor's Commission on the Family, whose mandate was to study and suggest revisions to California laws relating to the family. In a traditional divorce, a court considered who was responsible for the failure of the marriage — because of issues such as adultery or desertion — and then justified an unequal division of community property based on that finding. In no-fault divorce, community property is divided equally, without concern for who was at fault.

The commission recommended no-fault divorce, an equal division of community property and the creation of a statewide family court "with jurisdiction over all matters relating to the family." Some of the panel's key recommendations were incorporated into the Family Law Act, which took effect Jan. 1, 1970.

Though no-fault divorce did not accomplish all of the commission's goals, "I don't believe anybody would suggest we would go back to the prior system," Anthony said.

In his practice, Fain preferred settlement over litigation. The attorney praised Presley, his client, when the singer reached an out-of-court agreement in 1973 to pay his wife, Priscilla, nearly $1.5 million.

"This man agreed to pay her this without any contest because he wanted to be generous and make her happy," Fain said in a 1973 Times article. "I never met a man so unselfish."

Fain also represented Lee Majors in his divorce from Farrah Fawcett, Rod Steiger in his divorce from Sherry Steiger, and Marguerite Simpson, the first wife of O.J. Simpson.

"Harry treated all of the concerns of his clients as if they were the most significant issues in his life," friend and attorney Douglas A. Bagby wrote in an e-mail to The Times. "He considered it a very special privilege to assist his clients, and his personal integrity was an example for all of us."

Born Dec. 30, 1918, in the town of Canora in Saskatchewan, Canada, Fain grew up in Winnipeg. After graduating from high school he moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where he was a member of the university's soccer team. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army Air Forces and worked in military intelligence. After leaving the military he studied law at USC and earned a degree in 1946.

Much of Fain's career was spent working at Beverly Hills law firms including Fain, Lavine, Kaufman and Young. He was a founder and past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and was active with the American Bar Assn.

In the early 1950s, Fain and his first wife, Shirley, divorced and she won custody of their three children. Later, Fain returned to court and the judge granted him custody of the children — at a time when it was far less common for men to get custody, said his daughter, Beth Fain.

Fain was an early proponent of the rights of fathers and an advocate of children's rights, arguing that courts should consider the best interest of children involved in divorce, family members said.

Fain is survived by two daughters from his first marriage, Beth Fain of Berkeley and Jeanette Miller of Fallbrook, Calif.; a daughter from his second marriage, Barbara Fain of Beverly Hills; and sisters Dorothy Mann of San Diego and Esther Roman of Winnipeg, Canada. His second wife, Reva Fain, whom he married in 1955, died in 2005. His son, Alfred Fain, died in 1984.

In a decades-long career, Fain witnessed the effects of changes that he helped bring about.

"I find that the courts can and do look upon the father's demand for custody somewhat differently than 25 years ago," Fain told a reporter for The Times in 1972. "The courts are increasingly willing to judge that a father has as much right to a child as the mother."

The Elvis Is Back Box-set Is Out Now.

The book is made like the two “Inside” boxes. It comes in a box including a vinyl single, dvd, post cards and a certificate. The book is 152 pages. That is 40 more than the two previous ones.

Elvis Is Back is all about Elvis’ return to the music scene in 1960. This year was a bittersweet one for Elvis. He was being discharged from the Army. Music had changed in two years and he was a little insecure about his music career. Yet he enters the sessions with such ambition and determination. He delivers a new mature diverse voice. “It's Now Or Never” and “Surrender” are truly challenging for Elvis. He proofs himself to be a truly talented singer and not just a flash in the pan. These recording sessions will forever stand out in Elvis’ history.

It’s almost as if Elvis hit the ground running upon his return. The Colonel had been busy preparing for Elvis' return for a very long time. Not only were the recording sessions lined up, an appearance on the ABC televised Frank Sinatra Special and the filming for “G.I. Blues” were immediately following.

His appearance on the Sinatra Special is warmly received by the public. Elvis innocently steals the show from Sinatra. Yet the repertoire between the two performers is very apparent. “G.I. Blues” is a very successful film for Elvis although Elvis hates being in uniform again.

During this year, Elvis is also experiencing many changes in his personal life. Elvis has met Priscilla while in Germany. But he returns to his long time girlfriend Anita Wood. They continue their relationship where it left off before Elvis left for Germany. Vernon marries Dee, which is hard on Elvis because of the loss of his mother. Elvis also brings many of his friends from Germany home and the Memphis Mafia is formed.

But still the most important thing during the year 1960 is the amazing recording sessions. We have two incredible albums from this year, “Elvis Is Back” and “His Hand In Mine.” Elvis truly proves his ability as a performer. He conquers every challenge he is faced with and proves Elvis is back!

Elvis Is Back includes many never before seen pictures from this period. There is even some very interesting ones from the filming of G.I. Blues. Those were not used in the Inside G.I. Blues book.

After The Elvis Harley, Here Comes The Elvis Trike.

After the exact re-creation of the Harley Davidson Elvis used, another ‘Elvis motorcycle’ has been cloned.

This time, it’s Elvis’s first Trike, a three wheel motorcycle ordered by Elvis in August 1975, two years prior to his death.

The original Trike is on display in the Motor Museum across Graceland. But different from the Elvis Harley, the Elvis Trike comes in one copy only – including the original metal plate with the inscription “Elvis First Trike”, which Elvis had removed.

New Elvis Showroom In Las Vegas.

In just a few days, Cirque du Soleil will reveal the storyboard for their new Elvis show opening in December 2009 although developers have already broken ground on the showroom.

The multi-million dollar production is rumoured to include scenes from his movies and Elvis memorabilia – fingers crossed for some Elvis music too then!

Meanwhile, to coincide with Cirque du Soleil's Beatle themed production Love, the company has opened the Revolution Lounge to extend the theme beyond the show. Could this be a taste of what we could expect for the future Elvis themes for Las Vegas.

Fancy meeting for a drink at Café Europa?

Sadly, across the other side of the Strip, the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino has now been unveiled at the former site of the Aladdin Hotel, so the historical name as well as the original resort will now disappear from Las Vegas.

Elvis - Entertainer or Educator?

With the thirty year anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death on August 16 just around the corner, it would seem there would be little new to learn about him, but it turns out there is. Although he may not have realized it, Elvis Presley’s sexy moves actually modeled the ideal physical techniques for supporting a rich, warm singing voice – techniques still studied today by some of the recording industry’s biggest stars.

“Elvis was the perfect singing machine,” says celebrity voice coach Renee Grant-Williams. “He had all the right moves.”

“I constantly reference Elvis in my teaching,” claims Grant-Williams. “He had very strong legs, which he used as the basis for his support. He literally pushed into the floor using that karate-type crouch. He kept his entire upper body very loose so that it could resonate. And the way he cocked his head over the microphone really allowed the sound to vibrate freely.”

“Did he know what he was doing?” Grant-Williams asks. “Probably not, but he had extraordinary instincts and in his own way, I think he truly studied singing. He used to sit out on the back porch for hours on late summer nights with the guitar his mother gave him, trying to imitate the singers he heard at gospel churches and nightclubs.”

Grant-Williams teaches the wisdom of using Elvis’ techniques to stars such as Hannah Montana, Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Larry Gatlin, Bo Bice, and Huey Lewis.

“My students are surprised and grateful to have someone familiar they can relate to,” Grant-Williams says. “In fact, the first time I worked with Tim McGraw on using his body to support his voice, he looked up with mischief in his eyes and mumbled in true Elvis-style, “Thank you. Thankyouverymuch.”

Grant-Williams feels that even Elvis’ famous lip curl gave his voice an edge. “As sound leaves the body it needs to resonate against something specific,” she says. “There are options – you can direct that flow of sound to the nose, the throat, the jaw or to the sinus cavities in the face. But, I think what Elvis did – as evidenced by his lip curl – was to aim the vibration stream right at his teeth.”

“This was ingenious,” Grant-Williams says. “There’s a kind of sweet spot at the front of the teeth where vibrations can focus and still pick up resonance from all the other areas.”

“Because his moves and techniques live on, Elvis will never completely leave the building,” adds Grant-Williams.

Grant-Williams offers more advice in her book, “Voice Power: Using Your Voice to Captivate, Persuade, and Command Attention” published by AMACOM Books, New York. This book is endorsed by Paul Harvey and was selected by “Soundview Executive Book Summaries.”

Grant-Williams coaches aspiring performers as well as celebrities including Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Faith Hill, the Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Christina Aguilera, Linda Ronstadt, Randy Travis, and Huey Lewis. She has been quoted by Cosmopolitan, the Associated Press, Business Week, UPI, Southern Living, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, and San Francisco Chronicle. She has appeared on many broadcast outlets including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Bravo, USA, MTV, GAC, BBC, PBS, and NPR. Grant-Williams is a former instructor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as the former director of the Division of Vocal Music at the University of California, Berkeley.

‘An Elvis & Charlie Tribute Show’ .

It's Elvis Time always is in for a nice surprise. After a perfect restyling of their magazine in full color they now surprise everybody with a brand new cd.

A cd of Terry Mike Jeffrey band, rocking the house with Duke Bardwell and may he rest in peace good ol' Charlie Hodge.

It's on a official IET label!

We think it's the first cd recorded live on a IET convention: "Terry Mike Jeffrey-and the Elvis Tribute Show".

It's a nice peace of art work. Great pictures and good looks. Sound quality is perfect.

Terry Mike goes with the flow and everybody know what that means. A great performer and wonderful band, which play in a refreshing but certainly the authentic Elvis style.

There are not only the most obvious songs. What do you think of Promised Land? Or the perfect "Where No One Stands Alone"?!

And you feel shivers down your spine when you realise it's Charlie's last concert in Holland ever!

Duke is playing a perfect base line. Duke Bardwell played with Elvis from 1974 'till 1975.

He is a very nice guy as we all found out when he visited for the very 1st time Holland October 19, 2003,where he was een VIP quest in "Kunstmin" Dordrecht -  Holland.

When Charlie arrived you could tell he wasn't feeling okay, but when he got on stage you noticed the great performer he was, nobody noticed he was feeling sick, he was doing what he was supposed to do: A GOOD SHOW and please the crowd as ever!

Let's remember Charlie and press these memories on the pages of our minds.

So this cd is not only a tribute to the greates entertainer of all times, but also to the man we all know to be one of Elvis's best friends: Charlie Hodge.

The almost 700 pages thick Dutch Elvis ‘Bible’ Mens Muziek Mythe is ready.

The books will hit the stores next week, but we were allowed a preview. Compared to the first editions (1993 – 1998), the lay-out hasn’t changed at all. The additions of the chapters 1998-2007 is up to date but, obviously, don’t take up too much space.

On the pro side, we found the additions very interesting, covering all major events – up to the European Fan Club Tour in September/October, and all new releases.

The 6 lbs book is expected to be released next Week, estimated selling price is 36 Euro.

ALOHA STATUE GLIMPSE.

Here is a teaser glimpse of the life-sized bronze statue of Elvis Presley, which will be unveiled at the Neal Blaisdell Center at 10 a.m. July 26.

The widely-viewed program, "Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii," was the first musical event beamed around the globe by satellite, reaching viewers in 40 countries, with an audience share of 51 in the U.S.

The soundtrack album rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard charts and earned a five-time platinum award for sales of more than 5 million. Since then, a DVD version also has become a keepsake.

"The connection with Elvis always has been remarkable worldwide," Pellizzi said. "In the Philippines, 92 percent of viewers watched; 70 percent in Hong Kong."

Mayor Mufi Hannemann and entrepreneur Tom Moffatt are among Honolulu dignitaries who will participate in the statue unveiling. Larry W. Jones, TV Land president, also will be on hand.

ELVIS SELLS ELVIS.

Just 3% of licensing applications get approved....Just imagine what doesn't get the seal of approval and endorsement from EPE?

Ever wonder how the marketing minds at Elvis Presley Enterprises keep the king's pop culture reign going nearly 30 years after his death?

"We just answer the phone," said Scott Williams, EPE marketing and communications director, in a presentation Wednesday to the Public Relations Society of America's Memphis chapter.

There is, of course, more than that to creating all those tie-ins -- Elvis and Budweiser, Elvis and Harley-Davidson, an all-Elvis channel on Sirius Satellite Radio-- that keep the singer's name, image and music prominent.

It was all to make Williams' point that "Elvis sells Elvis better than anything we can do."

But just answering the phones at EPE must be a chore, because they apparently ring a lot.

"I think only 3 percent of the licensing applications get approved," Williams said. "One thing about EPE that's really great is, they really think through the planning of the products and promotions."

He highlighted one that made the cut -- a partnership with Hershey's that's led to limited-edition Reese's peanut butter and banana creme cups.

Reese's also will be giving away a pink Cadillac and a trip to Graceland. "They're also going to give away ... some checks that Elvis wrote -- that have been canceled," Williams said.

"This is what's so fun about working with brands like this -- they just have some great ideas."

Exclusive Announcement For EpGold & Readers:

RECENTLY DISCOVERED RECORDING OF VERNON PRESLEY TO BE RELEASED!

FRESNO, CA – On July 11, 2007, Elvis fans around the world will be given a truly unique opportunity…the chance to own a copy of the only known recorded singing of Elvis’ father, Vernon Presley. The song, “Don’t Close Your Door,” was written and recorded by Vernon in his office at Graceland in 1973. Its lyrics point to the circumstances involving the marital troubles that Vernon was having with his second wife, Dee.

Until recently, the Elvis world was not even aware of this tape’s existence. The recording, originally contained on an audiotape over 30 years old, was re-mastered for the best possible sound quality and transferred to compact disc. The resulting sound quality is surprisingly good considering the basic equipment Vernon used.

The new King Productions label is now proud to release this historic recording. The first 100 copies are limited edition numbered CD-R discs that have the look and feel of a vinyl 45, but play like a regular CD! The price per copy is only $10.00 and includes free shipping to anywhere in the world! Did Elvis get his remarkable voice from his father? This recording, and this recording alone, contains the answer…

Visit www.touchedbytheking.com  to order! Touched By The King is also your website for original items owned and used by Elvis!

The sound of ‘Good Bad But Beautiful’ .

With the 2CD FTD “Raised On Rock”, Ernst Jorgenson may have delivered the very best classic FTD release ever.

The Stax session have always been special to many fans, and with this double CD, the collector’s label is really spoiling us. Listen to Elvis as he works on the numbers until he’s satisfied (or not), hear him give instructions, hear him laugh, curse, comment… Even “It’s Diff’rent Now”, earlier released on the 5 CD set The Seventies Masters sounds different here, with Elvis talking over the instrumental part of the song.

Other tracks of interest are the instrumental versions of “The Wonders You Perform”, “Color My Rainbow” and “Good Bad But Beautiful”. Sadly, Elvis left the Stax studio in a fit of anger when he discovered that his microphone was stolen. With Elvis back at Graceland, the musicians killed the time by recording these tracks, hoping for Elvis to return – which he didn’t.

We’ll never hear Elvis’s version, but to give you at least an idea of the vocals, click the link below to hear Ronnie Hilton’s version of “Good Bad But Beautiful”

Announcement - Elvis #1 Hit Performances (DVD)

(1 Disc – 15 Songs – USA Release)

ELVIS #1 HIT PERFORMANCES

What an outstanding introduction to the magic of Elvis Presley! This collection of 15 wonderful performances by the King of Rock 'n' Roll showcases some of his #1 US and UK hits. Culled from his TV guest appearances, movies, and concert films and television specials -- from 1956, the year his star ascended, to the 1970s when he reached the pinnacle of his career -- this is Elvis at his best.

See Elvis perform Heartbreak Hotel, his first gold record award winner, shortly after the single's release. Witness the raucous rendition of Hound Dog that got him into trouble with the press and the morally concerned. See the matinee idol croon one of his greatest love ballads, Can't Help Falling in Love, and sing and dance in one of rock music's all-time greatest production numbers, Jailhouse Rock. Marvel at his "from the waist up only" Ed Sullivan Show performance of Don't Be Cruel. Experience Elvis in Las Vegas with an energetic delivery of Suspicious Minds and in Hawaii performing a version of Burning Love for a global television audience. Also included: Love Me Tender, All Shook Up, Teddy Bear, Stuck on You, Are You Lonesome Tonight?, Return To Sender, In the Ghetto and The Wonder of You.

ELVIS .. AT THE FORUM  -  OUT NOW!!!

 Here is a  A – B sample for your site:  A - B test mp3.

Just to satisfy a little the curiosity of the fans.

The first 15 seconds are from the original recording, which is the similar to the 1993 incomplete Tiger release.

B is from the original tape. Since we worked with the original recording it was much easier to remove the background noise.

It was a mono recording so we had to copy the track and spread it left and right.

In this way the sound is much richer.

We also decide not to edit anything just to make sure nobody will be disappointed with the results.

Also the remarks so you can hear that the fans are really as crazy about Elvis as they are now.

The search for the photos was very difficult, we had to look really everywhere.

Luckily we discovered that a part was photographed professionally like on the album Promised Land.

We also found some little photo gems, like the action shots.  Even the background action photo at page 18 is different from the others.

This was from a news paper the quality wasn't that good, we didn't wanted to leave it out, so its been used as background. As you notice we tried to put in everything we could find of the afternoon show.

Every photo was needed since you can only do it right once and the photos belong to the show , that's why we decided for 20 pages instead the standard 16 we wanted to do.

We also encountered the same problem as FTD had with their photos. Some of them are not in to great quality. We restored everything and luckily we managed to get most of them in very good condition.

I think just after Hound dog or love me tender Elvis says, "Hey this isn't a football". We actually found  the photo were he's holding the ball on page 19. These are the small things which make the research worthwhile.

We of Graceland records believe to have created a very complete package.

ELVIS at THE FORUM intent as addition to the book / CD Live in LA.

More we can't give, hope this release is satisfying for all the Elvis fans, because better isn't available.

We believe that At the forum is a small historical document to the LA shows.

We hope with this small interview to have given some answers which are  floating round.

Take care , Graceland records.

Finally after a few technical problems ... ELVIS .. AT THE FORUM    (GRACELAND RECORDS CD GR 7403-2).

The unreleased complete afternoon show May 11th 1974 in Los Angeles.

This is the follow up to LIVE IN LA by Follow That Dream.

It makes the 1974 Forum performances a complete set.

This is the better of the two shows given that day. Only the segment "You can have her" has been used by FTD since they didn't have the concert on Soundboard, otherwise they certainly would have used the complete afternoon show.

We offer,  straight from the original tape this show, (of which FTD has used a x generation copy for their "You can have her" segment), the complete show . This means for the die-hard fans really everything is there!!!

The recording has been digitally transferred to a24 Bit / 96 khz (in normal language high end quality) to get the best possible sound from this 33 year old tape.

The  full 64 minutes Elvis experience.

Also a deluxe 20 page booklet in full color with every photo available of the afternoon show and professional and historical  liner notes  Over 35 photo's with absolute rare ones in between.

The sound is excellent for an audience. Only at the beginning, there are some imperfections but the sound is by far superior to what has been partially released (this includes FTD).

This is a truly historical release and for the first time the complete show in the best sound available!

Track listing:

The Elvis Dialogue Mix 2007 By Special Request.

We  had several requests from EpGold readers, if we were able to have The Elvis Dialogue Mix 2007 once again on our website.

There's been a lot written about Elvis and how he started his career as a successful singer.
In a few occasions, Elvis told his own story to the crowd, at live appearances, how he started in the business and how he missed the contact with the live audience in the mid ‘60’s during the movie years.

EP Gold is proud to announce his own Elvis mix entitled: The Elvis Dialogue Mix 2007.

Click Here: The Elvis Dialogue Mix 2007.mp3

This brings the best out of Elvis, his charisma, his sense of humor and specially, the human.
The mix is created by the team of EP Gold.

Vegas Variety.

The brandnew Rainbow Records label will release a double CD set entitled "Vegas Variety". This release contains a complete and nearly 90 minutes long performance of Elvis Presley´s September 1st, 1974 Dinner Show recorded from the audience in Las Vegas.

From the pressrelease:

The recording of this show has been taken from the original first generation (audience recorded) Cassette-Tape and it has been carefully worked on in a professional studio. So the Producers are able to present exactly what their aim for this project stands for: one of the best performances of Elvis´ August/September 74 concert series at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel in best possible sound-quality, rounded off by a great 16 page booklet containing all necessary information regarding the show – and lots of pictures.

We truly believe that this is a great show with an extremly talkative Elvis (including a nearly 10 minutes long monologue about the difference between kung fu and karate) who delivers a bunch of his later classics (the only 50´s throwaway-style-sung title in this show is "Hound Dog", no more „timekillers“!). Hear Elvis, who is clearly in a relaxed mood, doing classy versions of songs like „It´s Midnight“, „Big Boss Man“, „I´m Leavin´“, „If You Talk In Your Sleep“ (introducing a series of karate moves) and „Bridge Over Troubled Water“.

As a bonus you can hear recordings from the September 2, 1974 „Closing Night“, taken from the soundboard – including some rare dialogue of Elvis while „Voice“ Pete Hallin is preparing himself before singing „I Couldn´t Live Without You“. The „Strung Out Mix“ is a nice and funny gem and finally, you can hear Ed Parker talking about the King in an excerpt from a late 70´s radio show called „The Elvis Hour“.

Goodbye To Boots.

Friends of the Family have thanked the many fans who prayed for Boots Randolph, his wife of almost 60 years Dee Randolph, son Randy Randolph and daughter Linda O’Neal, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service for the legendary saxophonist was held Friday at the Anderson-Garrett Funeral Home, 350l Old Clarksville Highway in Joelton. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to: The Boots Randolph Scholarship Fund /Blair School of Music, U.S. Bank, 600 South Main Street, Goodlettsville, TN 37072; or to: Forest Grove United Methodist Church, 7982 Whites Creek Pike, Joelton, TN 37080.

Among the many reactions to Boots’s death, this one stands out. Bob Moore remembered Boots. Randolph as someone who would pitch in where needed. At the same time, he said, “If you didn’t watch out, Boots would become the star, it didn’t matter who he was playing with.

I’ve always said that, as the bass player, I have the best seat in the house,” Moore explained. “I stood right behind Elvis and I stood right behind Tammy. No matter who I was playing with, I’d look out at the crowd and could always tell by the looks on people’s faces when Boots would take his turn at the center of the stage. He knocked them out every time. And when he would step back to the side, they would still be watching him.”

This picture, by Keith Alverson, shows Boots in concert, August 2002, with Scotty Moore and Jerry Scheff.

'Elvis Lost His Sex Appeal In 1977' .

Veteran actress Raquel Welch confesses to a crush on Elvis, but insists he lost his sex appeal with age. The 66-year-old, who starred alongside Presley in the 1964 movie Roustabout, recalls meeting the singer before his death in 1977 and was stunned to find him less attractive, reports New York Post's Page Six. She says, "He was more packaged.

His clothes were not the same, his hair was obviously dyed now, and it was sprayed into place... It was a whitewashed, cleaned-up Elvis. They took all the sex out of him." Welch also was not a fan of Presley's famous white suit. She says, "He looked almost like Liberace." O, by the way: Welch will not be in Memphis, for Elvis Week.

Rock Expo With Wertheimer Pictures In Paris.

The famous Cartier Centre in the heart of Paris is home of a special Rock ‘n’ Roll expo, focussing on the early years. Guest of honor Alfred Wertheimer visited the exposition last weekend, and is leaving Paris again, next Wednesday.

The first part of the expo tries to recreate the atmosphere of freedom and ‘liberation’ that lead to Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The second half holds a treasure of historical items, such as Buddy Holly’s guitar, a jacked Elvis wore in the Sullivan show, a wall of juke boxes, original concert posters, documents, contracts and checks, a Cadillac ’53, a re-created recording room of the fifties and much more.

The highlight of the expo is a selection of Alfred Wertheimer’s best Elvis pictures, taken in 1956.

Biography Of Bill Randle.

Bill Randle, one of the most influential, star-making disc jockeys of the 1950s and 1960s and a Cleveland radio voice since 1949 died 3 years ago today at the age of 81. Shortly before he passed on, Bill asked his daughter Pat to finish his memoirs for him. She accepted, and she's busy working on the book. The working title is “The selling of Elvis”.

It was in the fall of 1955 when concert promoter Bill Randle worked with Elvis for the first time. Randle has said that he turned down an offer to manage the singer. But in January 1956, he did introduce Presley on his first national TV appearance on CBS' "Stage Show."

By then, Randle was doing double duty, also serving as host of a popular Saturday afternoon show on WCBS in New York, where he also heavily featured Presley's music.

It’s not clear yet when Pat Randle will have her fathers book finished.

He has also added a full list of session Matrix Numbers. The reason for this 1980's sessions pages update is because of errors that he has noted in other listings and websites.

For fans who like exploring Elvis' recording sessions and finding out exactly what was recorded and when, thoroughly recommends this site as it gives everyone a chance to see the true facts and the minute details of what was listed & logged.

Joseph Pirzada's Controversial Interview.

EIN has had masses of fan feedback to Joseph Pirzada interview published yesterday.

Pirzada's detailed replies and information has obviously rattled a few cages within the Elvis World.

EIN will publish reader's feedback in full on Tuesday, but in the meantime here is just a sample of people's feelings so far.

Fans shouldn't miss out on reading this alternate view into the extraordinary world of Elvis publishing.

It is a totally fantastic interview- BEST I EVER READ! I cannot wait for Part II!! - GM

The interview opened my eyes to the one-sided bias within the so-say equal world of Elvis public forums. Shocking but informative. - PC

I read the interview and he makes a lot of sense. All through the years RCA has shown disinterest in the legacy of Elvis and his priceless recordings, by not keeping them safe, losing them, erasing them, and so forth. It seems that a lot of great stuff is in the hands of private collectors and BMG or EPE is too cheap to buy this stuff. - EK

What a fascinating interview containing some insightful comments and information. Ernst has done some fantastic stuff for Elvis fans but of course BMG limits him to what he can release. This should be read by all Elvis collectors. – BS

Pep the moderator from Fecc writes on their message board yesterday the following:

Mentioning the interview isn't the problem, some things said in the interview are not allowed to be posted on this board for various reasons pertaining to how the guidlines are set up here.

Piers from EIN writes on the Fecc - messageboard today:

I truly feel for PEP who must be having a tough time moderating this board over comments made about J Pirzada's interview.

Note: How can Pep the moderator from Fecc; is having a hard time when it is FORBIDDEN to mention some important issues J.Pirzada made?

J.Pirzada views and claims should be - open to question - and without proper discussion, it serves an unfair credibility to others. Pretty sure this is also what J.pirzada would have wanted!

Again it shows how fascinating the Elvis World is?
