* Elvis plays Johnny Tyronne, the movie star in Harum Scarum
* When the Colonel viewed the first screening of "Harum Scarum", he was appalled. He wrote a long memo to the producers in which he complained about the quality in the movie, and advised them to take some more time for the next one.

Synopsis; While touring the Middle East, Johnny Tyronne (Elvis), a singer and movie star, is kidnapped and taken into the desert to a large palace. With some help of clowns and jesters he jumps over the palace wall to what he think is the way to freedom, but he ends up in the quarters of Princess Shalimar (Mary Ann Mobley).

The Princess will help him tos escape but she’s curious why they kidnapped him, he tells her that they were going to involve him in a plot to kill someone very important. The Princess relizes that that important person must be her father. She helps Johnny escape, but he is soon recaptured and told that he must kill the King, or they will kill everyone who helped Johnny to escape. He has no choice but to agree. The show starts, and in the nick of time, the Princess warns her father.

He’s taken prison but escapes one again and find the
Princess’ room. She’s with the King and explains them the whole story.
Together they uncover the coup by the King’s brother to murder him and inherit
the throne. At the end, Johnny is well rewarded for his service to the throne
with the hand Princess Shalimar.
