G.I. Blues was a movie Elvis Presley had to make. As he
said; “Because it was one way I had to show all the guys with whom I served in
the Army how much I respected them.”
Synopsis;
Three army buddies, Tulsa (Elvis), Cooky (Robert
Ivers) and Rick (James Douglas), put together a Rock and Roll band to pass the
time during their hitch in West Germany, calling themselvis “The Three Blazes,”
they play whatever dates they can get and save their money to open their own
club when they get back to the States. They get a big break when they’re asked
to perform in an Armed Forces show that’s coming up.
When
the platoon’s Casanova makes a $300 bet for himself and his buddies that he
could spend the night with a local cabaret singer (Juliet Prowse) who’s known
for not dating any G.I, he is suddenly transfermed to Alaska, Tulsa is the
choice to take over his position.
The winner must stay at Lilie’s place for the whole night to win the bet.
However, Tulsa starts to like Lili and falls in love with her.
When
Tulsa agrees to baby-sit for his buddie, he calls Lili for help. She invites him
over and tells him to bring the baby. Tulsa and Lili spend the night together so,
without knowing, Tulsa wins the bet. At the base, Lili was told that Tulsa
“used” her to win the bet. At first she’s angry about the whole story, but
when Tulsa’s buddy and his new wife return to the base and thank her for
helping Tulsa with their baby, she understands that the whole thing was a big
misunderstanding. Tulsa and Lili decide to get married, and Tulsa ends the Armed
Forces Show singing; Didja Ever.
