Synopsis;

Dr. John Carpenter comes into contact with three nuns when they arrive in his ghetto area in plain clothes. The sisters are to get practical experience in the real world before taking their final vows. To this end, they take an apartment every bit as dingy and depressing as those of their neighbors.

Dr. Carpenter finds himself very attracted to Sister Michelle and is very puzzled at her avoidance of his attentions. The other nuns also run into unusual problems in the outside world, regarding race relations and social behavior. Through the course of the story, we follow the three Sisters as they learn to cope with the outside world. After a time, they are ordered by the Mother Superior to return to the convent. Sister Michelle and Irene choose to return, but Sister Barbara doesn't.

As Dr. Carpenter Sings "Let's Pray Together" a folk mass in the ghetto church, Sister Michelle enters the church and left the viewers to ponder whether she has come back for good or just to see the man she obviously has a strong feeling for.
