All shook up over Elvis song rights

The estate of Elvis Presley is suing his record label, claiming the late singer was "taken to the cleaners" over his back catalogue.

Elvis Presley Enterprises is taking Arista, parent company of RCA Records, to court, saying the star was exploited when he signed over the rights for the "ridiculously small" sum of $2.8 million in 1973.

At the time, Presley, then 37, was desperate for money following his divorce, EPE argues. It says that the sale of the back catalogue was "neither fair nor adequate" for its actual worth.
