Songwriters to lose out on royalties

With the recent debate over the 'Public Domain' issue, the main group to lose out are the record companies. The people who wrote the songs continued to receive their royalties with every release.

Now that the 'Public Domain' laws are set to change, the Supreme Court have taken the side of record companies and ruled that song writers will get no royalties from any of their songs with Internet music downloads.

Michael Jarrett who wrote 'I'll Be Home On Christmas Day' and 'I'm Leavin' which were recorded by Elvis in the 70's is shocked at the ruling, "I woke today to find out that the courts have decided to take away royalties from song writers and publishers for downloads of their music on the internet.

This means that 90 % of my personal income will soon disappear as most of my royalties come from downloads.

This will be devastating to the publishing industry and cause many folks to lose jobs as they won’t be needed. The online music stores have been paying lobbyists to lobby for this for a few years now ..

So, just what are the record companies upto? Their real goal is to do away with all "intellectual property rights" of every kind .. These are the greedy music corporations doing this to us.. Soon the major record companies will stop selling music on CD's altogether and have only downloads for people to buy so they can get all our royalty money .. greedy bastards!
