"Jailhouse Rock" (Warner).
From the Big House to
the Big Time..Elvis Style! One of the greatest ways to satisfy a
fan's inner is
to go to Jailhouse Rock, the 1957 box-office hit that's Elvis "Presley's
best
film," according to Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide.
Elvis plays Vince Everett, jailed for
manslaughter after a bar fight. There, Vince learns
to belt out tunes instead of
saloon patrons and after being paroled, follows a bumpy road
to music and movie
success. Six Presley songs by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller spike the
story,
including 'Treat Me Nice," "Baby I Don't Care," Jailhouse
Rock," "Young And
Beautiful,""Don't Leave Me Now,""I
Wanna Be Free" and the shimmy-shakin'title
tune that was Elvis' favorite of
all his film's production numbers. "It's the beast in me,
" Elvis says
after kissing Peggy (Judy Tyler). Yeah, but it's the best of him too!

"Roustabout" (Paramount).
The year was 1964. The miniskirt is in. If you can't Watusi, you can't dance. Cassius Clay (soon to be Mohammad Ali) claims the heavyweight crown. And Elvis is a karate-chopping biker who's hired as a carnival Roustabout.
At first he just provides muscle and a diversion for the beautiful carny girls. Then he picks up a guitar and gets the midway rockin'. Looks like this talented tough guy may be what the good-hearted owner (Barbara Stanwyck) needs to save her traveling show from bankruptcy.
Elvis sings; "Roustabout," Öne Track Heart," "It's A Wonderful World," "Little Egypt," "Poison Ivy League," "Wheels On My Heels," "Hard Knocks," "Big Love, Big Heartache," "There's A Brand New Day On The Horizon."

"Clambake" (MGM).
Elvis Presley sizzles as a lovelom million-heir in this riveting and romantic rock 'n' romp. Vying for the attentions of the lovely Shelley Fabares, Elvis finds himself caught up in a rivalry with playboy Bill Bixby against a tuneful background of comedy, romance and speedboat racing.
It's a hip version of The Prince and the Pauper as Elvis relinquishes his oil-baron father's fortune and trades identities with a penniless water ski instructor to learn about life from the bottom up. Suddenly short on money but long on determination, he repairs a radically designed powerboat in order to win the regatta and the affection of a girl who's determined to marry Rich.

"Elvis Presley Classic Albums" (Eagle Vision).
This film tells the unusual story that lies behind the making of Elvis Presley's first album for RCA Records, in 1956, and his meteoric rise to superstardom.
In Memphis, Sam Philips, founder of Sun Records, gives the inside story of those groundbreaking days when he auditioned , produced and befriended Elvis, Scotty Moore (guitar) and D.J. Fontana (drums), describe how they helped Elvis record the album in Nashville and New York, aiming for "feel, not perfection". They recall, with rare home movie footage, how they toured 400 miles a day in Elvis' Pink Cadillac, rehearsing the songs that Elvis would immortalise in that first album. Dixie Locke, then Elvis' steady girlfriend, describes how shy, mercurial and glamorous the young Elvis appeared, and how he coped with his newfound stardom. Musicians B.B. King and Keith Richards tell us what made Elvis the King Of Rock'n'Roll.
Elvis Presley is a record that changed forever the look and sound of popular music, a truly classic album.

"The Missing Years" (Waterfall Home Entertainment).
Very few people can claim to have changed the youth culture of the world in the way Elvis did. He showed the youth of the day another lifestyle and arguably created the "teenager". For the first time teenagers could express themselves through their own music and fashion, breaking with tradition and not just following in their parents footsteps.
This DVD features the least well documented events in Elvis's life and reveals in details his two years in Germany when, at the height of his career and inluence and just three weeks after the death of his mother, he went to Germany. Also included is a special bonus 55 minute audio documentary spanning Elvis's life and career providing many insights into the sometimes complex personality of Elvis.
Also included is a CD featuring 1954 recordings. Elvis, The Missing Years, provides a unique insight into the mind of a man who carried the hopes and aspirations of a generation and his influence lives on...
